Question about a Rom... - HTC Droid DNA

Hi everyone,
I switched to the DNA a little while ago and I'm very impressed with how aosp development kicked off since chad made fantastic progress in CM10.1.
Coming from gnex and gs3, we had the "eclipse" Rom that I loved so much.
In the gs3 Rom, the dev used touchwiz base and ported the Aosp look and goodness.
So the outcome was an error free Rom that resembled aosp but was very very stable.
My question/request perhaps, is it possible to do the same with the DNA?
Kindly,
Ron

It's not quite as simple with HTC devices... Touchwiz is a lot closer to aosp than sense is. Look through android development for "de-sensed" ROMs. I believe there was an aosp theme for hatka as an add-on for the de-sensed version.

There are plenty of desensed roms. And that sounds kinda like what your looking for.

What ROM are you going for?

This is mainly for people that have had an Android for a while.
Just curious to see what dev('s)/team everyone is hoping to see release some goodies for our newly freed phone.
I heard team bamf has a rezound as well as virus and team, also bunch of devs from the Inc.
Also are you more interested in sense based or sense less roms?
Personally I'm hoping for the zeus mod that was done on the Tb. For the life of me I can't remember who originally created it.
I'm looking forward to an aosp Rom. With that being said there are going to be some good sense roms too.

ICS rom . I came from the eris, as far as i know, the devs skipped this phone lol so idk any of the devs work...just that Condemned Souls ported a bunch of stuff from the Dinc....sooo. i ready for anything!!

@pwned3 - so your waiting on cm9 then I take it?
Yeah. I think a lot of us are waiting on some ics. I can't wait to see how the devs fix all that is lacking from the official build.
Check out boreds RezRom. I am sure it will be stable and fast.
He did awesome work on the incredible with IncRom.

CM9 all the way! haha
Nils Business Ice Cream Sandwich for Rezound.
JoelZ had some great ROMs for the DInc. I am very interested to see what he can do.
Hopefully we can get sum TSM love.

The BAMF Rom is nice

I would love to see some AOSP ROMs.
I have also wanted to give a shot at making my own ROM.. I am thinking of attempting to port the latest CM7, but that might be beyond my current skill level...
At least we have a working recovery now, so I'm a lot less scared about bricking my phone while I learn what I'm doing...
right now i will be really happy with cm7
Looking forward to anything from chingy or newt.
Nills p for show

Virus did some good work on original evo but I'm looking for aosp goodness.
Being that my last HTC phone was the great HD2, I would love to see an NRG Rom port. Those roms were da bomb!!
nils all the way; his stuff was the most stable on the Inc out of everyones. but as of right now, i'm enjoying how sense 3.5 is themed, so i'm holding off on unlocking and rooting for a bit
Right now I'm just really looking forward to CM nine. I'll be super excited if I can get all my android devices on the same ROM.
Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk. Forgive autocorrect.
NilsP's BGS 3.5. was my final daily on the Inc before I upgraded, and it was the best ROM that I had the pleasure of running on my Inc. Nils had several features in there that I sorely missed after I upgraded. I can't wait for the Business Gingersense or the Business Ice Cream Sense goodness to make it our way.
I'm also looking forward to see if Warm 2.3 makes it our way. Warm 2.2 and Warm Z for the Inc were two of my favorites from the Froyo days. Hopefully Myn and Team Warm "bring the heat" to the Rezound.
Very exciting time for us and our newly unlocked and Rooted phones

Vote: What flavor of ICS do you want worked on most?

Maybe some devs are just blown away by the options - or maybe they don't think this device is that popular? Blow them away by voting and showing how in demand their services are - and for what!
There is a lot of variety out there right now- and with the official ICS leak these things SHOULD be much more possible, so let me ask you what flavor of ICS do you want the most?
All examples are from vibrant because I have tested all of them on my old phone.. many of the more popular devices have them all.
Ports/official:
Slim ICS - Clean, Simple, and fast - the google way - as barebone aosp as it gets.(Can you say a 75mb download?)
Something like MIUI - A feature heavy nearly total redesign of Android - everything about this type of rom is different - but most of you probably know that. Easily themable in every aspect. Some of the features are here(don't forget it takes advantage of all the new features of ICS)
AOSP(Android open source project) - Either official CM9 or pure AOSP - the stock experience without our blessed "SenseUI" we all have come to love/hate - CM9 of course has some extra features.. and is also easily themable.
AOKP(Android open kang project) - Much like a feature rich version of CM9, while still aiming at a stock experience - if you want to know the differences click here(or check some of the features here)
SenseUI+ - Do you just want modified Senseui with some tweaks? Maybe some root, crt displays, power menu options.. just a stock+ experience? If so go to the development section, it has only been a week yet some good roms seem to be popping up all over(*cough* signature *cough*).
I like stock - HTC and Tmobile decide what I should use, and that's the way I like it! The most I could ask for, if I was feeling risky, is to get a little bit of root. Maybe.
Gingerbread - Damn this new radio! My battery sucks! Life sucks! How dare they leak a rom that isn't even finished! Those @ss&*#(s!
I'm gonna buy a new phone - You guys are noobs, I'm gonna buy a new phone!
If I missed an option, I'm sorry.. send me a PM and I'll see if I can add it to the list- but these are some of the choices out there, maybe help out devs and the potential ones alike by shouting at them all in one place!(rather than in their threads- I'm pretty sure they hate that.)

And yet there is no vote for MIUI? What gives?
I haven't seen that sense4 has enough improvements over 3.6, and then there is the fact that many of those features were integrated into ICS anyways.. is it worth the slowdown?
Now Miui on the other hand has some really original features..
I voted on MIUI after posting. Had it on my HD2 and couldn't wish for anything better!

I've been bouncing between the 2 senseless roms, and I like both of them so far so I vote for anything without sense.

AOSP/AOKP are the same .
AOKP just builds on AOSP. Once you have one you work on the other no ?

My vote went to AOSP and AOKP. I don't care which...I just want one of them!
CM9. Would love to play around with Sense 4.0, though.
I want my Amaze to look and run similar to the Galaxy Nexus.

I haven't seen anyone working on Sense ROMs for a long time now. I doubt it.
Jelly bean 4.2.2 is better and is way more focused on being ported by almost all Devs if not all. I don't see it happening.

What ROM in your guys opinion is the best right now im curious about the JB rom where can i find that ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37061598
This is the main cm 10.1 unofficial port. There are other cm 10.1 ROMs for this phone but those have extra mods and customizations. So there's the complete clean cm 10.1 port, its still being worked on and there a new nightlie update built every 4th night I think. As for bugs you can find in the thread. But the only ones I am concerned about is video tearing and gaming isn't so great but battery life and smoothness is amazing.

Jumping ship from the RAZR M.

Well I cannot take the RAZR M any longer. I am trading for a Inc4g in the next few days. Just wanted to say hello and look forward to coming back to the Inc brand. Also can't wait to see what is cooking in development. Justin's viper was the goto ROM on my inc2.

welcome back to the incredibles! I remember you from the inc2 threads. although the razor m looks nice and has pretty good specs, motos have always been weird about development. unfortunately there isn't too much going on here. viper is good if you don't mind ics bc htc hasn't put out any official JB for our phone yet. mdmower is doing an excellent job of maintaining CyanogenMod for our phone. although there isn't any ''official'' cyanogen his unofficial builds are definitely as close to official as you're going to get

we are not so dead, we have 3 sense roms, pizzuto venom and infernal 4+(my jelly bean sense attemp), we have pacman rom and cyanogen both from source and also we have some nice looking ports by cjen, also we have custom kernels (sense and aosp) by me too, some miui ports with ril broken just to try and i have more to release later, cyanogen builds are unofficial because of some issue of patents on them, htcs fault btw, i believe that when this gets fixed we will have official cm10 support again:laugh:, also believe me you dont know what a dead community is, when i got here they didnt have bootloader supoort and only had viper and other rom i cant remember, welcome to the community man enjoy,i believe we are growing bigger day by day

Well good to know things are still going here. My Inc4g should be here tomorrow and I can finally get off this DroidX I borrowed from a friend. Been 2 months since my Dinc2 took a "bath"....
Im still hoping for a JB Sense release from HTC but my hopes are realistic so its nice seeing some good JB ROMs put here

im a sense fan too, i wanna get my 4+ rom fully working and im making a kernel for it, too much to do so little time :crying:, we should have official jelly bean soon, however i have realistic hopes too and started the rom, sense 5 boots too on this device btw, just did it yesterday
Well good to know I made a good decision about the Razr M. That was the other device I was considering but matching it up spec-wise with the Inc4g..
just seemed like Inc4g was the better device for the form factor.
No other device seemed to compare and I decided not to wait for the Galaxy S4 Mini.

Don't get me wrong. The M is a great device. I just cannot get into Motorola. The UI lags like crazy. It is extremely difficult to transfer thing from internal to external memory. Also that gorilla glass screen scratched way to easy. My first day I scratched the screen while it was in my pocket.

Which of there two ROMs should I get?

When moonshine is released, I will be custom romming my DNA. I've narrowed my choice down to CM10.1 and Hatka Supreme. I'm looking for some input on this to help me decide, so I know what to download when Moonshine is released.

It's so easy to flash roms once you learn your way around, you would truly be limiting your experience and cutting yourself short if you don't try different roms. But I'm more than willing to talk someone through the process of narrowing things down, and based on your usage, likes and dislikes I can make some recommendations but I do it based on each users needs. Feel free to PM me if I can answer any questions or point you in the right direction.
The best advice is to make a backup of stock and then flash every ROM. I love revokt and soon pio will make a thread for carbon which I will try. These are both based on the cm build for the drivers (simplified explanation). I personally don't like sense but you might so try them all especially the aosp based!

I used to be an CM/AOKP fan, but after trying the Sense roms i was convinced they could do everything a CM/AOKP rom could do.
Boy I was wrong. As soon as I flashed Revolt rom the DNA beast was released. It was fast, snappy, and responsive. I've tried all of Pio's work and i settled on Carbon.
As people have said, try them all and see for yourself. You may come to a different conclusion than me and that is fine because the rom has to fit you, not what someone on the internets suggests.

CarbonROM in the Original Development forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2310695
Thanks for the responses and opinions. I'm fairly familiar with flashing on my Sammy Captivate, but not much experience with HTC and a locked bootloader. I think once I can get S-off it'll be to the point I can figure it out. I had used CM10.1 on the cappy and loved it, but I've heard sence 5 is amazing, so I'll probably just try a bunch of them.
