You can still transfer plans, but what you can't do is sell on xda.

I have been seriously considering doing the same. I am tired of VZW taking a dump on customers. They do everything they possibly can to piss people off. I have never seen another company treat its customers with such disdain. Mobile communications is a "service" industry, but it seems every new VZW policy is a step in the wrong direction.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Guys, it doesn't matter how many signatures this gets. They are making less money than they used to off of unlimited data contracts. This is going to happen.
@theredvendetta is right. I would love to think these petitions would do wonders for us, but our track record with them isn't what I call spectacular. The best way to deal with this is hit them where it hurts the most-their wallet.
If you are not voting with your feet and won't move to a different carrier, then you have no hope and Verizon knows it, so you are wasting your time. Verizon gets thousands of complaints every day about cost, signal, speed, plans customer services. I don't see Verizon improving any of that, its only gets worse, more expensive, etc. So save your signatures and use your wallet to vote Verizon out.
Just don't upgrade, to a 4G phone. Once you upgrade to 4G,then unlimited data plans are gone!

Not totally true. I was told if a moved to the Nexus sometime this week, Ill keep unlimited until the big plug is pulled.
You think they'll just suddenly get rid of unlimited for 3g customers wanting to upgrade to 4g?
I've been watching all the major android news sites to hear of any news on the subject from Verizon.
I want to go from my X2 to a SGIII but would rather not preorder. No guarantees.
In order to circumvent all of this, I want to do the following:
I may get a Nexus through Costco soon to lock into 4g unlimited. Then, once the SIII comes out at the same time the new shared data plans will like debut, I'd use Costco's 90-day warranty to return the Nexus and get a SIII with the intent to keep unlimited 4g.
In anyone's user experience, do you have to sign a new contract when upgrading your device? Can I just keep the Nexus plan?
Sooo I pretty much wrote this to see if you guys see any flaws in my master plan.
Almost 2000 more Signatures since my orignal post not to shabby. We need to get the word out. I known some people think this won't make a diffierance and maybe they're right. Showing are dissatisfaction will at least slow these greedy icehole's down.
My thought's on this is you want to renege on your grandfather promise raise data price's fine but don't force me to pay for it. How many people are using wi-fi because there 3g,4g is to slow or hardly working and paying a premium price for a service they don't use. Give your customers a choice. I do not have problem saving a dollar a day and using wi-fi.
But That's Just My Opinion. I Could Be Wrong..

How does it make it better?
So they use there energy in more productive ways. It's all good though everyone can do what they feel is right. But what would get Verizon's attention would be 3k people not renewing their contacts. With the reason being the death of unlimited data. Not 3k signatures from people who are still going to begrudgingly pay them.

[BOUNTY] US$500-US$3300 Galaxy Note SHV-E160S: Custom ROM, 3G Unlocked, 4G Alter Band

Hello,
I'm very new to XDA-Dev and flashing custom ROMs on Android. I apologize if I'm breaking the rules by posting here and about this model... Doing some searching around these forums I saw that most of the discussion on this Korean model of the i717 was occurring here, and also that nobody is going to pay attention to this model until a "bounty" is offered.
I ended up getting this phone as a gift on a trip to Seoul. Unfortunately I've found that 3G is not working on this model as SKT has apparently locked it to push 4G in South Korea, despite the fact that the hardware is there for 3G. This does indeed appear to be the case as I'm only getting a "G" symbol and the speeds are indicative of GPRS.
I could just buy an American model of the phone, but from what I can see there are many people in the community who want to see the same things I do, so instead of spending money on an American model for myself I want to offer a bounty to any devs to benefit the whole community of foreign SHV-E160S owners.
So here is my "bounty" for anyone willing to help me Americanize this phone:
For US$500: A custom rom of clean ICS i717 to get rid of stock korean apps and the 80 char limit on sms messages. Right now I've seen some people get some success but then the korean buttons dont work (as American model has slightly different front-facing buttons I suppose).... Hopefully if you can get this to work it will be possible to get other custom ROMs for i717 to work.
For US$800: Remove 3G Limitation from SHV-E160S so I get 3G/HSPA. This phone has the same pentaband hardware for 3G as the i717, it is just carrier locked.
For US$2000: Not even sure if this is possible amongst xda-dev community yet, but theoretically it should be possible to "flash" the LTE radio/modem to use a different band. QCOM produces the same chip for both countries as far as I know... the radios are just configured by firmware to specific bands.
This is money I am willing to pay out of my own pocket. If any other owners of SHV-E160 would like contribute to this bounty (and are serious) to attract more attention from devs, post here and I will edit the thread to include your contribution here.
I can provide whatever you need from the phone and test on it given you point me to directions on how to extract whatever that may be and what to test, any equipment I may need to buy etc..
at those prices why not just buy a new phone?

I don't care about the money, I will probably end up getting a US version of the note down the line too. I will still be able to eat don't worry
I'm mainly doing this for the community of SHV-E160 owners for one thing, and then coming up with a method to flash the LTE radio to use a different band is something that is good for the entire community of LTE phone owners, hence the large bounty I'm offering... So I'm not sure why you guys are against me offering money to figure stuff out that benefits more than me...

Well not sure if you're rich or whatnot but to offer that much is just not a wise financial move when you can get another note without the problems you are having.
Also not much E160 people are here.

Well no developer would do such a transaction without a trusted agreement. It would be far easier to collect payment than tracking down 50 five dollar bounty donations.

[Q] How can I get out of my vzw contract or upgrade early?

Hello everyone, like I stated in the title, I don't plan on keeping my tbolt for the full 2 years and I was wondering if there are any loopholes to end your contract without an early termination fee or to upgrade early?
Another thing I thought that I should mention is that I have unlimited data because I have had the unlimited data plan before Verizon put a cap on it, so I'd like to keep the unlimited data, which I doubt would be possible if I ended the contract...
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...
If you end the contract it's over.

No because if you pay full price of the phone you can keep the unlimited data for now. Adverse material change can be like a non mandatory fcc charge like a regularity recovery charge, pricing change and even then the terms and co.ditions usually.say vzw can rase the fee up to a certain amount and not be a material adverse change.

Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
The fact that Verizon is ending unlimited data will not let you out of your etf as it does not effect your current contract. You will retain unlimited data until you renew your contract. At this point you would have to switch to a tiered data plan.
Again them getting rid of unlimited data will not get you out of etf.

If you had a termination fee that means you left sprint, therefore you'll have a higher monthly bill no matter where you go. Also, you'll have a metered internet cap with your spanky new 4G LTE phone, and therefore you've also opened yourself up to an overage bill on the internet if you are a moderate to heavy user.
Enjoy your new phone.

Hello,
Thanks to being able to bill to my account, I ordered a 64gb iPhone 5 today. I am honestly not sure if I am going to end up keeping it as I have been using Androids since 2.1 (Eclair) and I really like the platform. However, I am frustrated that Sprint frakked the Photon 4G replacement and I am not fond of Samsung (too plasticky) and to a lesser extent HTC.
I was honestly praying that Sprint would get some sort of version of the RAZR. The Intel Atom powered RAZR looks amazing, but has only been announced for Europe and I think Asia.
Being with Sprint since 1999, I really am conflicted about the iPhone in general. Thanks to Sprint having to pony up Billions of Dollars just to offer the bloody thing. they have done away with the Premier Gold Program replete with 12 Month Upgrades, the ability to bill equipment to your account at any corporate owned Sprint Store, and far less understanding Account Services actions.
That being said., it will be nice to have tons of options for Accessories where with the Photon there are hardly any. Still, I am hoping a flagship Android Phone is announced by Sprint in the next month.
Cheers,
JJ

My wife just got the iphone 5 and it's pretty impressive. I don't understand why people here sound so indignant that a photon user would be jumping ship. There is a market for the iphone obviously. I find it a foolish exercise to try and compare phones and platforms. At the end of the day they do the same most of functions. At the end of the day
Choice of device is a personal one. If on the day I told myself I now longer care to think about my tech I might move to a different platform as well. People have reasons for moving to ios, and are better for it in many cases.

When will XDA members understand the fact that we as a community are just a small percentage of their sales and they have no need to listen to our demands.
As a matter of fact I'm willing to bet, us as a community have cost manufactures more money than any other groups or the casual consumer.
Bricking phone, OCD exchange after exchanges cause of minor imperfections.
I'm willing to bet manufactures actually hate us

Sony's developer used to come to XDA and help the XDA developers with Kernels and helping them in building CM by providing them with necessary drivers for EXMOR sensor etc. They used to come to XDA and post the alpha version of the firmware and help them identify the problems. It would be great if other company follow the same.

I have been part of close, collaborative, manufacturer/consumer teamwork facilitated thru forums and online organizations before. The benefit to both parties is immense. Any company that would willingly forsake the opportunity to engage one-on-one with their most passionate and informed customers is fundamentally flawed.
That said, I can virtually guarantee a tech-centric company like LG has an entire department dedicated to data mining on the 'net.
