try this: http://gizmostorm.com/how-to-fix-package-file-is-invalid-error-on-google-play-store/
In case above steps didn’t worked for you
Boot your device into recovery.
Clear cache partition.
Head over to Advance options.
Clear Dalvik cache.
Simply reboot your droid.
Try Play Store once again and probably you will end up with success in installing any apps and games without any error.

I've been having this problem since I first installed a custom ROM, and my little brother has had this for a while as well. Why is it that I/we cannot download larger apps from the market? The download starts fine, but cancels after a few seconds giving no error. It just aborts. I was told to format cache and delete Donwloader and Market cache but neither of those worked. What should I/we do?
Yes, I have used Google and yes, I have searched here. I didn't find any answer.

No. Just clear cache. I had the same problem yesterday after the update. Cleaned cache, was patient, now it works fine.
Settings > Applications > Manage apps > Play Store > Clear Cache. Possibly reboot too.
thx

It looks like the apps you're trying to download is larger than your device's cache partition. Your device is unable to download apps on Google Play that are larger than the cache partition even though you may have enough internal storage space available. Any app larger than 20-25M is too big for certain devices, namely Samsung devices, to download at one time. Try to use cacheFixer at Google Play
is there anyway to exten the cache partition???

I have the same problem. Before, I used Setxperia to swap in '/cache'. So,I go to '/cache/swap' by root explorer then delete swapfile.swp. This really fix my problem.
I encountered this issue when trying to download a game called Splice. The games is close to 290mb. I've not used cachefixer at all but what I did to fix this problem is look at my applications in settings>applications>all. I cleared the cache for a few of the memory hogging apps that I have. Instagram was the biggest culprit. It was taking around 90mb of cache memory. You may also consider clearing you web browsers cache aswell. As soon as I did this I was able to download my game.
Hope this helps you some, good luck.
(HTC Incredible 2)
Wipe your cache
In recovery format cache&dalvik cache or if you dont have recovery delete google play store cache and framework cache. Worked for me on previuos phone.

After I flash the new updated version, my google play store can't be opened at all, it will open and close in a split second.
Anyone has similar issue and manages to solve it?

Try removed your ext. sd card do a fullwipes and reflashed the rom.
have you flashed gapps after installing the SLimbean?
So, I have the AOKP ROM on my phone and I decided to update my ROM through the updater that came with the ROM.
After updating it, I started having pop ups with 'android.process.acore'. It keeps telling me that it was crashing.
So, after researching, I uninstalled my Facebook and cleared my Contact Data etc.
Then I realized that after updating my ROM, my Gmail, G-Talk, and Google Play Store stopped working/uninstalled.
Every time I try to open the play store, it would crash and force close....
After multiple times, I decided to restore factory settings and wipe data/clear cache through recovery mode and reinstalled the ROM the old school way (downloading it online and storing it onto my SD card).
After properly installing the new ROM (AOKP), I still don't have my Google Play Store. I've tried to get my phone to download and install the APK file online, but my phone doesn't recognize the apk file.....
Now, I don't know what to do. I think I f'ed up..... Help? I tried searching it already......
Please and thank you for reading.
