real racing 3 crashes on custom roms - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm new here, so I can only post here .
I use on my Galaxy S2 currently a stock rom because graphics-intensive games like Real Racing 3 crashes in AOSP roms. Now I've been looking at the carbon rom that have the title" no mali bug ". Does that mean that there the graphics intensive games will work ?

Hi, I have the same problem. On some rom works for me, but usually 4.0.4 ICS. I have good experience with CriskeloRom V38.
And little advise from somwhere:
The game want to start in high quality (probably) that's unsupported on your device and then hangs (I have to remove the battery to make it restart). I think that the modded kernel fool the game.
Code:
cd /sdcard/Android/data/com.ea.games.r3_row/.depot/eds
mv AndroidHigh.plist AndroidHigh.plist.old
cp AndroidMid.plist AndroidHigh.plist

[Q] Starfront Collision HD version

Hi,
I Really want to play starfront collision HD , But am unable to install it successfully.
I can't figure out which version to use . Cannot find it in market also .
I tried the Galaxy Tab apk and data file but , it opens to black screen and closes .
Used it with CM10 (0.06 and also the SGT7+ cherrypicks versions) .
Tried chainfire , only to realise It doesn't support JB or ICS .
So my question is What version to use ? (1.0.x)
Also Does it work with CM10 ? If not which ROM is the best for games ?

help me choose a good rom 4 me

Hello.
I need a stable fast working rom.
Tried venom, yas4, liquid smooth. All of them are good but still. I rather have lag then 1000 reboots and stability problems.
Can anyone suggest me a rom that is stable? And I dont want a 2.3 android... 4.0 + is a must.
Thanks
Wrong thread buddy... For me it's cm 10.2 or Yoda sense
try SMIUM 3:8 with mirage kernel. probably the best.
First of all you don't have many options.
Top 3 for me.
3 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648407 ( It's a good rom but I really don't like the icons and for that isn't a good option but still have a great battery life, and very fast and stable, full 3d camera and video playback support android 4.0.3 )
2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2460289 ( Not so popular, based on Miui v4 from Xiaomi phones with full 3d camera and video playback support, android 4.0.3 and a good battery life, 2 days for me and seems very stable )
1 - Stock 4.0.3 ROM with Super Su ( rooted ) and Buttered Toast, the best performances by far, battery life it's ok but this combinations gave me the best results in GTA San Andreas and that means the best performance in my opinion. Nothing use the hardware more than a game. I installed Dodol Launcher and It's my daily use ( I made a full backup ) and sometimes I test new romes when updated but always come back to stock + root.
Wrong section...
But YAS4 with BT kernel is very fast, battery save and stable for me...
For me the best is CM 10.2 or CoolICS if u want 3D
Wysyłane z mojego Evo 3D GSM za pomocą Tapatalk 2
Cm 10.2, 27 October 2013 build working wonders for me still
Sent from my Samsung Tab 10
Kitkat CM 11
For me:
1. CoolICS - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671369; Everything works.
2. Mwakious 3DRom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648407; Is the best rom, but I don't like icons and the principal problem for me is that: This rom not recognize or recognize with error letter "ț" and "Ț" from my language.
3. Any other rom with 3D functionality.

[i9100] How to get a fast and smooth running Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 with Nougat 7.1.1

A fast, smooth running Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 with Nougat 7.1.1, is it possible? Sure, but it is best not to use the latest ROM build. After many tests and comparisons of various Nougat ROMs based on LineageOS I've found out this. The development of the ROM is ongoing very quick, but it's made for many devices. The performance of the CPU is not taken into account. Our S2 is now some years old (since 2011) and has only a CPU with two cores. Standard today is at least a phone with quad core CPU.
Comparing a Nougat 7.1.1 ROM from February 2017 with a current build clearly shows you that the older one runs much faster. This is mainly noticeable when scrolling or if you open apps. In the current ROM there are often lags, it simply needs more performance.
To get the maximum out, a few tweaks with a modded Kernel Adiutor from XDA are necessary, the CPU frequency is set to minimum and maximum 1200 MHz. The battery drain of course is a bit higher - not much, but you have more joy with a smooth running S2.
What do you need for this?
I did made the best experience with AICP 12.1 ROM, build in February 07 2017. you get it here. It runs very stable for daily usage. Only the camera app Snap.apk is buggy at video recordings. You can change this by installing the latest one in my attachment.
The modded XDA Kernel Adiutor is attached too.
The CPU and ondemand governor settings (CPU Governor Tunables) you see on my screenshots. Make sure that the "Apply on boot" toggle is set to on.
Can you tell me where I could find jelly bean compatible CWM recovery ?

Jelly Bean has its own, "built-in" recovery. Unfortunately, I am not aware of whether you can take another recovery for it. I know there is a flashable CWM recovery via Odin for the S2 (I have it here). But this is intended for flashing custom ROMs.
@Nobby1960
Hi, good instruction.
Useful article.

I allways used this file "PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSJ-OXX-4.00b21-signed-JB.zip" and installed it via stock Recovery. (no waranty void message after rebooted system). Copy this file on your SDCard, reboot in Recovery Mode and flash it. Now you can keep runing your device on stock ROM or you can install a custom one with this recovery.
The link to AICP 12.1 ROM is not working; I get 404 Not Found.

Thank you for information. The ROM is no more available on the AICP server. I did upload it to a one click hoster (upload.net) The link in my first post works now again.
Would you still recommend this rom today ? or would the official lineage 7.1.2 be better than this now ?

Compared with the latest AICP 12.1 build from 07/10 it's not necessary to jump back to this older version. The performance from all latest Lineage based ROMs became better. The only thing I use the Kernel Adiutor with the performance settings from my first post. I think you can also use the latest official plain vanilla Lineage 7.1.2.
Hi,
thanx for your instructions. I have tried it!
One problem with the setting where i'm unsure: at the end of the settings, the core2 disabled itself and the minimum frequency was set to 100 automatically. I changed the frequency back to 12.000. Is that OK, or should i leave it at 100 ?
btw. I still have installed stock_kernel_twrp_1120. Is that OK, or do i need another kernel?
Anyway, at this point the CPU tweak has made the perforance a little faster, but it's still much worse than Android 4.12
On 4.12 i was running 5 aktive apps the same time without problems. (Navi, RadarWarning, Mp3, GPSLog, + 1 temporarly app)
On Lineage 14.1 the Mp3 already beginns to stutter and the systems gets very slow when i run only 2 Apps. If i start more apps they beginn to chrash.
So i want to ask, is it possible somehow to get the same (or even better) performance with a custom rom like with the original stock 4.12 ?
Thanks for Info,
Rooster
Hi,
hmm - all settings are correct from the governor like the screenshots in Kernel Adiutor? Both CPU frequencies should set to 1200 MHz. In idle time core 2 stops to save battery, but it must switch up at load to 1200 MHz automatically.
The stock_kernel_twrp_1120 is okay to install this ROM. If you boot in recovery after installation you must see the newer TWRP 3.0.2-1 and you can flash the latest TWRP 3.1.0-0 as an .img file.
The problem with Nougat and most modern apps is, the generally RAM consumption gets higher and higher - that's the biggest bottleneck. So the S2 with only 784 MB comes faster to its limits at multitasking than with the latest stock ROM 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and older, more slim apps. Unfortunately there is no chance to get a higher performance with Nougat. There you feel the age of our good old phone from 2011, it came first with Android 2.3.x Gingerbread
