So I saw the 3D launcher that ZTE has with all it's latest Android phone running MiFavor UI (it's their skin like Touchwiz and Sense) and I really wanted to try it.
After a fair amount of Googling and digging around on Chinese sites I managed to find the official firmware of both the Grand S and Grand Memo. But, after extracting those, I couldn't find the 3D launcher! Only the 2D version. I even installed them on my phone (they don't require MiFavor UI for the most part it seems) and I couldn't find it.

So does anyone have any info regarding this? Anyone have a Grand S/Era/Memo/etc. that has the 3D launcher? I know not many people on XDA have ZTE devices but hopefully someone does.

It's the same as the stock ICS launcher but with a green-and-white color scheme rather than blue-and-black plus it has a few custom transitions (pretty generic transitions). Its also got a few minor tweaks (mostly in the app drawer) but they aren't anything major.

I don't know if anyone has had a chance to look at the video of the HTC evo 3d, but I think the launcher is awesome, especially the carousel like view of the screens when you scroll through.

I havent watched the video but if its simply a launcher then it may only require the apk. We wont know definitively until a ROM dump is made.

HTC Sense launchers are no a simple apk. They are fundamentally tied to and reliant upon the Sense framework. There cannot be a real true port without porting the Sense rom itself.

if you want to sense ui dock from the evo 3d, u need to make the dock semi transparent with photoshop by editing the files in rosie.apk and com.htc.resources.apk. I did and I found a wallpaper that looks like the one in the evo 3d picture it looks just like evo 3d.
looks exactly like SPB Mobile Shell on my old Windows Mobile 6.1 HTC Touch Diamond.
not sure how they get away with that, lol.

Here's most of the HTC wallpapers if that's what you mean. I think the one they use in the Evo 3D pictures is the blue smoke one.

Typically, this is true, but I'm willing to bet, if motivated enough, someone will be able to do it. Look at all that JsChiSurf has been able to accomplish with Sense apks on the HTC EVO. That guy has been able to 'un-tie' a lot of the Sense apks (such as messanger, contacts, etc...).
I think it comes with the HTC Sense which by the way is cool and sexy.
Does anybody know if it would be polssible to run the default Android launcher, or will we have to wait for an AOSP port?

I recently download an supposed HTC Camera app, that contains Panoramic and other features, the funny story here is that if this is really a HTC Camera APK it is supposed to replace the current one(right?) And it didn't replace the file, So i have 2 Camera APK(although is buggy as hell, but you guys can make it perfect)
So i want you guys to study this, if it is useful to for example port a HTC Keyboard with arrows and don't have to replace the current one.

Hey Rocky. Nice to see you've found my hack, "v3.tt"
I am not exactly 100% sure what you are saying...so please clarify.

Rocky, if you read my OP from that link, I detailed exactly what I did to make the hack work as advertised. It is not a "supposed HTC Camera app", it is the "HTC Camera app".
What I did was edit all the smali and all instances of the identity of the apk in the xml (keep in mind, there is a much easier way to do what I did for the camera apk, but that wouldn't have been nearly as fun).
Using this method, it is very possible to install multiple instances of the "same" app, just different versions, so that one does not have to replace the other.
After learning that the Evo 3d has no arrows (thanks misfit), I thought to myself maybe I could do the same thing. This was earlier last night. At least until there is Root anyways. Then, one could potentially install the HTC_IME over itself, although with a different identity.
Something to think about, if you find a mod or apk, perhaps link to the thread you found it. Maybe, just maybe, the OP of that thread has all the information necessary. ;-)
edit. I should note that I did not come up with the apk or the idea of the apk. That is HTC. Also, I was not the first to find the Sense 3.0 camera. That was francios. All I did was mentioned renamed the identity of the apk.

Hi Tommy didn't know that was your app, I did a Google search and downloads, but it is nice that you saw this post, now we can request you the Keyboard haha
With your method we can use the original 3VO Keyboard and the one with arrows, without having to replace them.
Also is coming to my mind that we could take some skin with trasnparencie and ported over here with that method, or for that we have to port the Rosie?

So I installed the modded one that doesn't over ride the original HTC Evo 3D camera but it's always in 3D mode and is type buggy!! This is the camera from the HTC Sensation or some other HTC phone?

Here is a link to two stock launchers that come with the Sharp 3D phones.
They have a nice toggle button on them that lets you change between 2D & 3D on your home screen. another nice feature is that you can set your own captured 3D photo as your wallpaper (in 3D of course).

Please have a go at getting them to work on the Evo3D. If needed by a developer I could also post the 3D conversions software and a 3rd party widget that makes the 3D effect work with any Home app.
I absolutely love my SH-12c, but I would gladly go down from dual 8 mega-pixel cameras to 5 and lose my TV function to switch to Evo3D for 1GB of RAM. But I can't live without 3D animated GIF or video live wallpaper. If you had it you'd know what I mean. It's AWESOME! I can live with charging my phone just a little more often for that.

The apk would at least need to be resigned. I'm sure there is some security, but not sure how much as this is not a pay apk in the market.

What??? The link, the apps? Do you have root? We're trying to get this working on the Evo3D.
My ph is rooted . I tried to put both the files into /system/apps , but after reboot unsuccessful to install the launcher .

Looks like nobody was able to figure it out, if you really want a true 3 d home screen then you should try spb launcher, it's expensive but it has an experimental feature that is truly 3 d and takes advantage of our paralax screens

if you go in the setting you can change from 2 to 3d however is only in landscape mode with socks
Hello all! I am currently running CMX with a TouchWiz 5 theme. I installed the TouchWiz Launcher port along with a few different zips I have found across xda. My phone has most TW widgets, sounds and stock apps. I feel a lot of people would love to run this ROM. I have no idea how but is there a way for me to generate a zip of my setup so that others could enjoy it?

You can use this to make an update zip. Just put the apks in their respective places. The theme would probably be in data and the launcher in system.
The only issue I see is if this is the TouchWiz 5 theme you speak of it can't be included because it's a paid app.
Like the setup, i have been looking for something like this a little while.

I wrote a couple of devs seeking help. I am a full time student and I work full time as well. I thought about releasing a HOW to guide. I have not given up.
Pimp my ROM seems to have the full tw launcher and some widgets. Cannot confirm if all are there. You can then get a tw theme from market and you should be set. I am on decks 10-10 build (4.1.2) and the theme is not working but launcher is

LGHome3 is the version of the LGHome Launcher that as far as I know, LG make it for ICS and partially upgraded with the 4.1.2 upgrade (It just add some wallpapers and some basic changes to the widgets). The LGHome.JB4.apk that you saw was a port from somebody in the community to make it available for 4.2 since the other versions FC and wouldn't work properly. Currently that port works partially and for 4.2 and FC when you try some things.
You can also see another version of the LGHome in the market called Simple Home by LGElectronics ( http://goo.gl/7eAVz ) and I think it was the version 2 since it doesn't have an app drawer, don't came with the widgets and it's compatible with Froyo 2.2.
About the themes you were looking for, LGHome has themes since version 2. Some carriers like AT&T block all the themes (I don't know why!) or only left 1 or 2 in their deploy, but they could be found at the Korean and Japanese ROMs.
Looking for a LGHome port to 4.2 I found some themes that work at http://goo.gl/bjjjr

Please take note that to those themes to work properly they have to be installed in the /System/App folder (Need root access) and not in the /Data/App folder where the apps normally install when you use the installation wizard opening the apk directly. The links I provided previously have a very good tutorial of how to install them in a way that they work.
Anyway, LGHome is a very good launcher but if you are looking for another experience about themes and changing the appearance try another launchers like Nova and Apex that will give you a very Nexus 4 feeling and are very good saving battery life. Also you can use Go Launcher that have a lot of free themes. Or if you want to make huge changes or get very different experience check buzz launcher or MiHome that have some really good themes and some crazy stuff.
Go out there and try them all and every time you want to try something different, have more than 1 working launcher installed just in case and make backup of everything you overwrite in case you damage something.
