Is there a new OTA update for v21B going out?
Anyone have a rooted back up of v21B?

Here is a rooted V21B CWM back up file from Kid_Ding. Thank him in the post right below.

Before changing over to the Wind V21B from Tmobile V20D, make a back up copy of APN and then re-install it after the change over. Otherwise, there will be no data service. (Look for 'APN Backup & Restore' app in Google Play).
No noticeable functional difference between the two versions. The battery usage seems about the same.

latest radio and a lot less bloatware. its wind mobile canada. works great on the tmobile p769.
Would anyone know if flashing a backup of this would lock the bootloader?

Ok, but then the question becomes: is it fraught with the same problems the T-Mobile V20D update has that prompted T-Mobile to kill the update and go back to the drawing board, so to speak, or is this an even better build that has the issues fixed (Wi-Fi battery drain, connectivity issues, and some others that I've read about)?

The wifi drain is still there (see screenshot)
Also Note: the wind version will obviously not have wifi calling.

So then the final question (since I know things are just going off the rails at this point): is it worth the trouble of doing all this rather complicated effort to get the Wind version installed on this relatively new P769 of mine? I mean, I've used some complex devices over the decades, and I've been mucking around with ROMs on devices for a long long time as well but this L9 seems to have the most singularly complex methods of rooting and ROM flashing that I've ever encountered in my experience.
I know it's a great phone (so far in my usage, at least), and I was just outside a few minutes ago on the balcony of my apartment building and rather pleased to note that - at least on full brightness - the 4.5" display is rather easy to read even when I was holding the phone in direct sunlight, so that's a big plus considering summer is almost upon us here in Sin City.
But I'm still not seeing any major positives to pushing a JB update on this device even though it's obviously more than capable of the update overall.
Should I, shouldn't I, that eternal question always lingers...
ps
Wi-Fi calling is a gimmick in my opinion, and since I use the $30/plan with 100 minutes of talk time, it won't do any good for me at all either - I use Google Voice + Talkatone for VoIP duties and rarely ever touch the 100 minutes, actually.

I use Wi-Fi calling due to the fact that coverage isn't all that great when I go to a friends house, I could and here and their do use Talkatone but its not as clear on voice calls compared to regular.. not sure if my settings are messed up or what..
Trust me, flash this rom if you don't need wifi calling or are not with tmobile.
It's better, also includes apps to sd card.

I decided to chance it and flashed this Wind ROM (V21B) with the instructions from the "Offline Flashing" thread and was successful, but it's not reading the T-Mobile microSIM so it's basically stuck in the water, so to speak. Decided to redo it using the available T-Mobile V20D Jelly Bean ROM and even in spite of following the instructions in that Offline Flashing thread to a T - I'd just done the same thing to get the Wind ROM on it so I know the instructions are valid - now I can't get the T-Mobile ROM flashed because the update tool can't see the phone for some reason.
Rechecked everything, redid the steps twice, reset the phone, pulled the battery, did everything pretty much exactly the same (checked to make sure the debugging and unknown sources are checked, unchecked them both and rechecked them to make sure), restarted the phone a 3rd time and still the update tool can't see the phone. It shows up in Device Manager as required (LG modem and LG composite device), etc.
Am I not able to reflash or back up? Hrmmm... will keep trying I suppose, may just drop back to ICS and be done with it (assuming of course I can get this working again, that is).

Did you try a factory reset?
Turn off and press volume down +home and power to initiate
I've done most everything at least 3 times so far (and tried 3 different USB cables, 3 different USB ports, etc) - the update tool is simply not seeing the phone anymore. It's listed in Device Manager as required (as stated, LG modem and LG USB composite device), then I'll restart the shttps server (with a freshly extracted copy), restart the update tool (also a freshly extracted copy) and even in spite of being able to see the device with Explorer, etc, the update tool simply can't find it anymore; the resulting codes are supposed to be:
0 = no device
1 = Normal connect
2 = Emergency connect
and each time it's 0, so I'm stumped now as to how to proceed. I'm able to use the P769 with T-Mobile and calling, but there's no data connection whatsoever which seems a bit odd considering I have data service and was using it an hour ago. I've used the hidden menu to ensure I'm set for automatic network setup, but the APNs under Mobile Networks aren't there - that screen is totally blank which is most likely why I'm not getting any data. I mean the page is completely blank when I select that option, it is as white as a blank sheet of paper with no info whatsoever.
I'm a bit baffled at this point, guess I should have just been patient and waited for T-Mobile to get around to dropping a proper fixed JB update.
Edit: will try to manually input the T-Mobile APN info and see what happens but at this point I'd just prefer to flash the V20D and see what that's doing, if I'm not happy with that because of the bugs then back to V10G if possible.
Second edit: well that didn't work either, it won't actually save the APN data I input (got it from a T-Mobile support page) so... it's broke-dead for data presently, geez.
Try entering the apn correctly and see if it saves. If not, it's most likely data corruption stemming from your previous T-Mobile rom
I have tmobile version of the p769 and the wind jb works perfectly for me. I did do a factory reset before the initial boot of the wind ROM by unplugging the battery right after the completion of flash and doing a hard reset.

I can comprehend a little data left over since no, I didn't do a full blown factory reset before the initial flash, but what I can't comprehend now is the update tool not seeing the phone anymore when all the PC connectivity appears to be functional across the board. I suppose I'll just wipe everything clean from the PC, get rid of all the software installed, all the LG drivers, and restart this and hope I can drop back to V10G, I've had enough with JB at this point - obviously a properly working phone (without that Wi-Fi battery life issue) is more valuable than a smoother running but somewhat janky device.
Let's hope this whole clean start thing works...
Edit:
And no, this is pretty much dead in the water now. APN data will not save, the LG update tool doesn't see the phone anymore (the status is always 0 even in spite of the device plainly being attached, showing up as required in Device Manager, other modes of operation like typical USB connectivity work just fine, can copy files to the device without issue from the PC). Did the full clean start of everything, using the latest 3.8.1 USB drivers, and so on.
Dammit...
Can this be flashed on a locked t-mobile P769. If so can some1 point me in the right direction?

Yes, it was not saving the APN data by using Menu -> Save. Anywhooo...
After a somewhat even more convoluted process requiring me to muck around with fastboot in the omap4fastboot thread, I got the device recognized so it could be "seen" by the updater and then flashed V20D on it, presently doing a factory reset since it left some data from the Wind ROM around.
Now that I finally have the JB ROM on it I'll do some testing and see how it goes, I'm sure the Wi-Fi battery/power thing didn't just magically skip over me so I'll keep an eye on it. But at least now I can get to flashing again. Odd why that happened but, sometimes things do.
I've found that sometimes it's just a matter of restarting my computer to get the device recognized. It would suck if that was the reason.
Good luck on the tmobile rom and never stop trying

A new firmware update with build number 14.3.A.0.769 is heading to the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact handsets according to the PTCRB website. The last firmware to be released, albeit only in selected markets such as China and SFR France, had build number 14.3.A.0.761.
what's new in the new build?
camera improvements?
battery improvements?
New UI's?
Let's hope it gets released then. .757 works fine and I haven't experienced any major issues, but updates are always welcome.
When expected to be uploaded?
finally...tired with the same build

Suddenly out of the blue today... "Camera is not available" and I can't turn on Wifi anymore. Can't run diagnostics without it crashing.
Seemingly permanent, restarting my phone doesn't fix this.

The program is saying I have the latest firmware and to factory reset, which I can easily do within the phone. Also, if I reset my phone, i lose all my contacts, without any means of restoring my contacts (and using it as a phone) if I still don't have wifi connectivity.
I'm NOT entering in contacts manually
thanks but "lol man" i don't get your inferrence of this as an obvious fix, or it being any different from my sony bridge (i'm on a mac) software - which for some god forsaken reason won't let me backup my phone so I can try to do a system restore after wiping.

Is this your first android device ? You talking like a iphone user. No offense man.
Google already backed up all ur contacts.
Your best exit from problems u got is Sony Update service with full wipe. Do it or don't ask for help or update from sony, which is not gonna help you if you have dirty phone.

I'm fully aware of google having a backup of my contacts. The concern is seeing a scenario where it's not a software issue but sudden hardware failure and a full wipe doesn't fix my inability to turn on wifi, at which point I'll have a blank slate phone, with no wifi to sync to google with. I am not going to spend hours inputing hundreds of contacts manually. I believe I did mention that.
How do you know a dirty flash won't work? I prefer to go through various troubleshooting methods in order of time wasting magnitude. dirty flash is the least damaging in that regard, in comparison a full wipe is full on blank phone where I spend hours upon hours to restore how my phone was, is the most damaging method. If the new firmware flashed over with sony bridge fixes it, then I have effectively solved my problem in a 30 minute update, without any additional effort needed. If not I would then consider a full wipe. I prefer this natural progression in logical troubleshooting.

Are third party roms flashable without unlocked BL or rooting? I also wasn't aware they can be dirty flashed. I prefer not to have to do this, but I should look into those roms as a solution. Thanks for the suggestion.

^^ Dobygot - you got a computer? Log into www.google.com/contacts and export your contacts. Then import them into your clean wipe newly installed rom (this won't require wifi if done via an xml or similar export - just in case your problem isn't fixed)
Some advice if I may - a/ if you ask for help and then argue with the help offered then your gonna have a bad time b/ people love giving technical help to enable things to be fixed but don't respond well to easily solved non problems like "contacts input will take forever" - there are lots of contact fixing options if you think outside the square (or just google it)

Sorry for the quoting, but I'm on mobile, so I'm not going to edit and format this like a pro.
You do know that you have a backup app pre-installed? It'll backup whatever you want to backup. No Internet needed, and it'll save it to your SD card, so even doing a nuclear wipe of the device won't touch it.

Probably the simplest and most effective method to ease my mind for the full wipe. Thanks. I just hope the wipe does fix this issue. If not, then being able to restore contacts will allow me to continue doing my job after realizing my phone is @#%$ed. Cheers!

I agree, if I had asked for help.
I simply expressed my excitement over the possible solution of flashing the soon to be released 769 and hope that would solve my mysterious and crippling new problem. I didn't ask for help or for people to pass judgement. I've already decided to try a dirty flash and resort to full wipe as last resort (and then warranty work after that). I have my reasons unique to myself, which I didn't feel was relevant or necessary to disclose in a new firmware thread.
Everyone who had actually read my reasoning (which I apologize for sharing in this thread) has offered great suggestions without passing judgement like an arrogant teenager. That being said, thanks to everyone for their suggestions which actually help me in MY personal situation (except for the lol man you a dumb iphone user guy).
Anyway...I've gotten plenty of great suggestions already... let's all ignore me now and keep the topic about 769

Just came off of having to put up with using Razr M's for the last two years. I bought two used G3's this week and am now attempting to figure out which way to go.
These are our first LG products since flip days. The specs of the G3 really grabbed my attention when I read up on it.
I've spent the last (7) hours crawling around this forum and am now somewhat burned-out, overwhelmed, confused, ETC. (and the beer supply ran out...)
The two (new to me) phones are in great shape. One is @24B and the other is @10B
The 24B unit pulled down the 35B update today and is waiting/holding to update.
The 10B unit when I select 'Check for Updates' is pulling down a 110MB update, however when I select 'Install', it reboots, attempts upgrade and then returns a error #0x1111004. I got a feeling that the PO didn't execute something quite right when he wiped it before selling it.
Since these units are at a stage where I can wipe and flash at will, I'm trying to determine if I should go custom or just accept the 35B.
I'm leaning towards Jasmine 9 or Xdabbeb. Once I get these setup & configured I'll most likely stay with it. I'll tinker but that's about it.
I want stability and reliability and won't be flashing just to try out the latest. (i may have to get ahold of another for that )
One feature that caught my eye that I would truly, dearly like to have is 'Record Call'. (if possible)
So if I may ask for some opinions on which way to go I would appreciate it.
Thanks in Advance,
_Dan

I want stability and reliability and won't be flashing just to try out the latest. (i may have to get ahold of another for that [emoji14])
One feature that caught my eye that I would truly, dearly like to have is 'Record Call'. (if possible)

Hi and welcome! First, any used phone who knows what state they left the phone in so I would use LG Flash Tool 2014 with the 10B KDZ in Windows PC after having installed the Verizon LG drivers, which are different than the drivers for the other G3s, and then rebooted the PC.
Look for the return to stock thread in the Verizon G3 General section. It might mention the TOT method too, I prefer the KDZ method because it's easier.
Then root with the Stump app, install TWRP v2.8.7.0 with the TWRP Manager app and flash the custom ROM you want.
I'm using @xdabbeb 's and my personal opinion is that it's awesome. Very, very debloated. Runs cooler, battery lasts even longer.
Be warned that on this phone sometimes when you reboot it will go to a black screen and not actually boot up.
Sometimes you can just hold the power button in for up a while (not sure on the count, maybe 30 seconds or so) and that will shut it off and it you held it long enough it will power back on, too.
Once you have your ROM set up, if you decide to try another stock ROM, use the built in LG Backup (in settings). It's faster, easier and more reliable than Titanium Backup in my opinion and in the opinion of some others on here, although there are some users who have had trouble with LG Backup working for them.
I use it with every new updated stock ROM.
One caveat of LG Backup is that when you make a backup, it stops a bunch of things like the clock app for the alarm and they stay stopped until you run them once again, just like right after you restore apps with either Titanium Backup or LG Backup.
@xdabbeb 's ROM includes call recording although any stock ROM (not sure about Cyanogenmod) can use Xposed and the G3TweakBox app to give that functionality too.
If you ever do go straight stock and get to the 35B update, once you take it the ONLY way so far of downgrading so you can reroot is the TOT method with a different, new .DLL than what is referenced in the TOT instructions.
You can get everything I referenced by using Google to search XDA such as:
Code:
XDA VS985 10B KDZ
[VK810.4G] [altev] [ViKtory810ROM] official LG G Pad 8.3 Lollipop 36B_00 5.0.2

- Isn't that the truth?! The one that's on 10B is acting a bit funky.
I've got a laptop with a fresh install of Win7 sitting here just awaiting setup for the G3 specific drivers.
Did not want to mess around with one that has all sorts of drivers on it going back (4) years. From HTC to Samsung to HPTP items.
Also have a 'Nix with ADB installed, JIC I really mess up. Altough it seems like it's a quite a bit more straight forward than years past...

You're welcome! Stump only works pre-12B (from what I remember) so that's why I recommended the 10B KDZ. Also will warn you that although LG Flash Tool 2014 might display misleading dialogs such as "server not found" etc, whatever you do, do NOT bother touching those dialogs, selecting any buttons in them. Just move them out of your way and ignore them. 99% of the time despite these seemingly catastrophic errors, on the G3 within 10 minutes the device will have been flashed, and it will be obvious when it has.
Also note that flashing KDZs/TOTs erases your internal storage so save anything you want to keep from there.
On older LG G3 stock ROMs, you can use TWRP Manager or Flashify to flash the latest TWRP. You can't do that successfully with newer stock G3 ROMs - another reason I recommend a pre-Lollipop KDZ.
Boy that was easy -- on the 2nd phone. Nice and lean, looks very fine at first glance.
(6) hours later... Typical windows drivers problems, even on a fresh/clean laptop install. Of course it's been that way with
windoz for the last 20+ years that I've been dealing with it.
I've got a few questions, ( I did do some searching, however I'm beat and tired.)
- I couldn't get ADB to work on either 'Nix or Windows.
- GApps? is there one? I can't 'push' from the Play store on the PC to the handset. Should I just add the apps?
- The Better Half wanted me to ask if GPS is fully functional. (She's a tad concerned I'm flashing them...)
- That's more but my brain has turned to mush...
Thanks for all the guidance Warrior! Tis Appreciated.

Do you have USB Debugging turned on, on the phone? Go to Settings/About device/Software and press the Build # string about 10 times reasonably quickly and that'll put the Developer options menu in the main Settings. From there turn on USB Debugging. The first time you try to access an Android device from a new operating system installation (possibly for different USB ports, too), a pop-up will appear on the screen asking for you to give either temporary or permanent authorization to the PC for adb access.
All stock OEM ROMs come with GApps, and you can't just flash a different/newer GApps over top of it, you just have to update the apps you want to from the Play Store. Personally, I remove all Google apps from the stock ROM's system except for the necessary Play Store, Play Services, and maybe also Google TTS. Since the apps are updated occasionally or frequently, depending on the app, I like to only keep one copy of them in user apps instead of having the system copy and then the updated version still reside in user apps.
You can tell the Play Store on the PC to install such-and-such app to such-and-such of your device in the drop down and it'll install, although I usually find that manually launching the Play Store app from the device gets it started installing faster after doing so.
GPS works great for me, and I use it often.
You're welcome!

Another tip: Definitely make a backup of your IMEI on each phone, and keep a backup of your backup in a safe place! Sometimes flashing KDZs, TOTs and even ROMs has caused people with this phone to get their IMEI reset to all zeros. Hasn't happened to me in all my flashing over the past ten months, but it's happened to some others.
In TWRP there's an odd partition listed - I forget what it's called, just back up only that and keep a copy of that on your phone and on your wife's in a safe place like Google Drive, so you can restore them if you ever need to.
How to engage Debugging was one of the first things I searched on when the phones arrived -hehe.
Love how 'cryptic' it is now. Following your suggestions, I tried out 'Run as Administrator' and lo & behold
after a bunch of bleeps & booruuups, ADB showed a device attached. Gotta love Windoz...
'Nix laptop still isn't seeing though. Going to mess with that later.
Pushing from the Play store from a PC was only working on the Wife's early this morning before I packed it in.
Now trying mine it's working. That makes it easier to load apps.
IMEI Partition - is this the one you're talking about- The 'EFS' one? :-
Need to go and search on DPI settings now. The 'Home' row buttons are too small for my fat fingers.
You hit 50 and your fingers get mushy and touches aren't precise.
Also need to punch up the text a tad for the eyes. hehe.
Thanks, _Dan

Yes! EFS, exactly. texdroider is what I used to change DPI recently. 640 is stock.
You may or may not have not seen you can change the font size in the Display settings.
Almost "fity" myself.
Pretty snappy ROM thus far. I'm liking it and this G3. I actually like where the power and vol buttons are. Doesn't mess anything up when
pulling it out of your pocket.
Grabbed Texdroider but haven't played with it yet.
Got a feeling I'm going to have to mess around with framework a bit or find a mod. Need some things to be more visible w/o glasses.
Figured if I do I'll call it 'Old Goats GUI'. Fat thumbs and aged eyesight.
Google trashed my contacts. Tons of entries from where I used email to send txts. That's going to take a while to clean up.
It is nice though have a clean slate. It's just like wiping your computer and starting fresh.
(Of course there is always a great deal of pain that goes with that.)
A friend called today and she just got a G4 and is getting rid of her G2, and it's got the touchscreen problem.
Hopefully it's just a software fix and I'll have another phone to add to the stable.
They didn't transfer all her stuff so I'll be taking that on this weekend. gives me a chance to get my hands dirty with all three models.
Thanks again, _Dan
Have fun! You're welcome. Changing the DPI, and that font size setting should solve most of any issue you have. I use Nova Launcher Prime which is highly configurable - if you don't use a custom launcher you might want to look into it. You can make everything whatever size you want. Icons, text, how many icons fit on the screen in both portrait and landscape, etc.
Oh, oh. Having problems this afternoon. (should I maybe post this in the ROM forum?)
We're at home today and the phones are dropping off network. They're talking to us saying 'No Carrier'...
I just noticed (using Signal Check Pro) that there is no EV-DO. and watching the phone the last several minutes
it is not shifting into 3G. Usually with the RAZR M's previously, they would drop to 3G depending on where one
was at in the house or out in the yard. I don't see 3G at all on the G3.
Did I mess something up flashing? Figures doesn't it? - (2) days after flashing the devil out of them....
And of course I'm waiting on a very important phone call today...
Thanks,
_Dan
I doubt if you messed anything up in flashing otherwise the ROM wouldn't have worked. Maybe Verizon has an issue in your area.

Gave Tech Support a call last evening, and all they could (or would) say was that there were problems in TN.
Usually they are a bit more specific. Then again I only called them twice over the last few years.
And of course this had to happen two days after I switched our plan to pre-paid and went to two different phones and
flashed a non-OEM ROM and was waiting on a call.
It was only happening on my phone - the wife's didn't do it. I did notice that it finally showed 3G when I was on the backside
of the house, so I'm hoping it's just tower issues.
I'm going to go dink around with Nova Launcher and Texdroider now and wait for the cases to arrive in the mail today...

When my wife and I were on Sprint with two Galaxy S3's, I noticed we would both get different signal/data strength in different areas, including our home. I had gone to a Sprint store where they said that was expected, that two of the same phones in the same place might favor different towers, or something like that. They said were able to change some technical setting in the phone that would hopefully give me a better or at least different tower when I was at home. From what I recall it did definitely make a noticeable difference.
Only mention it as a demonstration that it can be normal to get different service on two of the same phone and ROM at the same location.
That was the first and only time I had pursued a fix of that kind so no idea what Verizon is willing to do or capable of doing. Normally I don't expect much from the carrier stores, technically speaking.

OUI! The S3 with the great antenna design....
A good tech is hard to find. Even more rare are the knowledgeable ones.
(10) years ago I had contacts with engineers at Sprint, US Cell & Verizon. Wish that I had maintained them or that two of them had stayed... hehe.
I've determined that the towers around us appear to be leased as far as I can tell.
USCC, Sprint & Verizon are hanging their birds off of them and I'm getting the impression that maintenance it minimal.
I left USCC two years ago because on the tower closest to us the bird was pointing downwards and the signal likewise.
Over two years now and it still hasn't been re-positioned.
I was at home all day and didn't hear the phone say 'No Carrier' so hopefully it was an infrastructure problem.
I was just nervous with the timing and all.
Better Half was out all day and no problems and actually came home with 90% on her battery.
I'm liking that!

Hopefully you don't get a scare like that again soon. I plan on putting that ROM on my wife's phone sooner or later, too.
Rainy day here so I'm finally attempting to try Nova Launcher and Texdroider.
Backup first - as recommended. Battery was @80%, TWRP finished up and rebooted the system and when
it came back up battery was @60%. A backup operation lasting a few minutes wouldn't use up 20% - would it?
(oh and yeah, I did have on my glasses )

I wouldn't expect it to and I don't recall recent backups biting that much out of the battery. Did you backup to internal storage or external? I'm about to do another backup before performing a modification so I'll see what happens for me today.
Texdroider was just what was needed for my ol' eyes. Much better. It came up showing 541 DPI, I took it to 480 first try
just for grins. Boy that messes up the icons. Set it to 640 after that and I can actually see items without glasses on.
Thanks for that suggestion!
Two odd things still going on with the handsets. Just sitting here with it on the desk she'll tell me 'Lost of Service'.
Check the phone and Signal Pro is saying it's fine.
On the Wife's - her's is going into Roaming mode around the house, same vicinity as mine.
Ready, set, ask me anything!
I have a couple questions..
1. Is there any kind of ETA? I'm as patient as the next guy, but it's always nice to know! No worries if you don't have one though : )
2. Is there any proof of the K10 root working on the V10?
(not really a question but)
3. I know it's a very long time off, but in October of this year I will no longer be with Verizon and I'm willing to test anything around that time.

1. Sadly I have no ETA, right now I have an init and a new sepolicy. I'm able to dirtycow the sepolicy but I can't find any way to get the init across without the phone rebooting before it finishes. I need a way to like freeze the init in a way to make it available for transfer. So there's that and the other guy we are working with is gone right now and idk yet when he'll be back and ready.
2. Well, he is helping me out but he had the same issue with the init sadly. So stuck again
3. I have a question for you.. what version of Android are you on currently?
Currently running a V10 from Verizon, Android version is 6.0.
After recent updates (a few months ago) from Verizon, I noticed my call blocking software was no longer working. I had the software set to block any numbers not in my contacts.
I poked around in the phone app settings and the Android settings, all settings allowing me to block callers from mt phone had been removed.
Verizon's "solution" to be able to block up to 5 numbers free for 90 days (then you have to reblock them) simply does not meet my needs. Paying extra for their service to block numbers is just rude to me. I'd go to another carrier first.
Is there any way to get those settings back on my phone so I can block numbers from my phone again?

All those settings to block calls from verizon are a verizon thing, once it's changed it's changed. Verizon's contract with us says they technically own the phone and we are just borrowing it. So my first guess would be no you can't get that software back. I could look, depends on what you were using. My suggestion though would check out an app on the play store to see what you get. Once we get root you can probably find a good software for it.
Do you expect roms to be available including nougat roms if/when root is achieved?

Actually, I've been using contacts+ and dialer+ from the play store on my last several phones and I no longer have to back up my contacts , call log, or texts! And, it has call blocking that does have the block everything not in your contacts. It has made rooting and breaking phones hurt a little less and/or be less of a pain in the @$$. I swear I have nothing to do with them, lol. I'm just a guy who likes to fiddle with this stuff who stumbled on this app purely by trial and error. If I can make one complaint, it's different than other dialers/contacts, and I don't think it's the prettiest app, but once you fiddle with it a while, it gets better. I wish I could skin it though, lol. Sorry for rambling, I just stumbled here and had to comment.

Sorry, I personally can't help. Be advised if you root an Android device now, Netflix won't work.

need help here. just bought my V10 refurb unit. they said its H900 at&t unit. its on lollipop with root out of the box so i cannot use any banking app. so i try to diry flash latest H900 firmware via LGUP. phone bootup but i cannot use due to force closed app. so i clean reflash it. now it booting as normal. but i cannot setup any fingerprint as it will force closed. so i came out a solution trying to clear cache and data . phone bootup still same. then suddenly its blank. only black screen with backlit on. so pull out the battery, now phone cannot turn on. only qdloader9008. so its hardbrick. try dismantle mainboard and its turn out im getting verizon vs990 mainboard with at&t firmware in it. now had no idea how to fix it. try those SDCARD using h901 system dumb as i cannot find any vs990 system dumb to work with. no luck, cannot enter download [email protected] fastboot mode. any help will be appreciated.
p/s : now im still not sleeping since yesterday trying to figure it out and my head feel like to exploded.
My parents both have the VS990 and recently their Wi-Fi calling has stopped receiving calls- calls can still be made (outgoing) but they go straight to VM incoming. My Verizon s7e on the same plan works just fine, leading me to rule out Network and Verizon. What is left is LG and Android (since I'm on N and they're still on MM). It seems that it occurred after the recent vzm upgrade from 27a to 28a. Nobody on Reddit responded to my thread, Verizon has been 0 help (they told my parents it was a SIM issue, swapped their SIM, "tested them" without putting the phones on airplane mode and sent them on the way telling them it was fixed..... thanks guys). I can't find any documentation or bug reports of this happening to anyone else- but, I'm not sure how many ppl depend on wireless calling like we do (satellite is our only method of telecom out here- no phone lines run, no dsl, no cell service.. we're in the middle of nowhere). I've tried resetting the Advanced Calling features. I've restarted the phones. I haven't done a factory reset.
A) Anything I've missed?
B) I found an img for 27a on here, is LGUP a feasible means still of downgrading/rolling-back?
Nothing going on
So my v10 wont charge, wont turn on, there's no charging notification light or anything. the only thing that gives me hope is that when I plug it into my laptop, my computer detects it because I can hear the sound. I cant get it into any of the modes, download..recovery..ect. any suggestions?
Hey could you please help me figure out something. I have an LG V10 H901 (purchased from China) its supposedly the T-Mobile version but was manufactured in Korea. Its WIFI and bluetooth weren't working so I tried to update its firmware using LGUP. However, after the update it was hardbricked. I have managed to get to the LG logo using H90021w Unbrick Qfil files. Afterwards I tried to flash stock firmware H90130d_00_0611 using lgup. However, I got a message about partition changes and hardbrick once again. I have also tried KDZ files related to F600L, h90021w and many others. Can you please suggest based on my details:
-Correct QFIL files

So my Lgv10. Doesn't show that its charging, doesn't turn on, doesn't do anything at all. It does however connect to the computer in the whole qualcomm hs-usb qdloader9008 mode thing. ive been doing the qfil thing because that seems to be the only thing that detects my phone but nothing is working. are there any other options? oh it says its the lgh900. but the motherboard is the vs990. does that make a difference? I have files for both
Been a while since I've touched a LG device but i'll respond to everyone tonight.

-Correct Firmware or KDZ

In device manager what is your phone coming up as?

I would update to the latest version. and I would factory data reset. I would also say that wifi calling is brutal and something that I wouldn't use all that much personally. any more questions you can ask
I know this might be a long shot since it's an old phone and whatnot, but I've recently breathed new life into my Mega from US Cellular. Had the screen repaired and it's good to go again after previously being destroyed by an estranged ex. I was wondering if there is a way to get the latest marshmallow update to the device? I've seen there are numerous posts for all other Mega models (i.e. - all models except the one I own). I would really like to use my Mega again but with it being on Kitkat, it's kind of useless at the moment.
Any help or advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.
And again, I apologize if I'm bringing up an old, dead phone, but I really loved this device years ago and I would like to love it again.
Cheers!

Not 100% sure about this, as I am only doing the same as you are with my L600 model (minus the screen repair >.<) lol.
For the Sprint model at least it is pretty much compatible with anything made by Silesh. Hopefully it is the same for you on USC .
Have you gained root or anything yet? that's going to be your first step on anything, old or not hopefully xD.

I have rooted my phone, but I have yet to find any roms that are higher than 4.4.2. I'm able to use the phone as it is just by inserting my active sim card, but hardly any of my daily apps will run because of the old OS. I've been too afraid to try any of the other roms for the other megas as I don't want to brick my phone. I just hope there's some way to bring this phone back to life. Hell, even lollipop would be a huge help at this point, lol.

Haha yea I beyond understand, my daily driver is a Moto E 2014 CDMA only device xD.
If you have acquired root, & custom recovery, try extracting the ROM u wish to install, & ONLY flash the boot.img, I do believe that Lollipop would run on most KK Kernels without much fussing.

So, I just made a discovery (I think). After taking the back of the phone off to retrieve my IMEI, I noticed that the model number on the phone says L600/R960. Does this, in theory, mean that I can use any roms that would normally be available to the L600 line of megas on my US Cell mega?!

You should be able to not ONLY use any of the great L600 Sprint based custom ROMs, but as I said before anything by Silesh.Nair should actually be compatible . & your radios should stay safe if you don't flash those over, however I am NOT 100% sure of anything I just said, still roughly 80% sure you won't do any real bricking or harm to it xD.
Also, would love to get a PM to discuss how much difficulty you had with your screen replacement, as mine is getting to be totally irresponsive in general haha.

Finally got a day to myself to test out some of these roms and see whether they work or not. As for the screen repair, I had a Verizon store do it for me. I originally was going to attempt it myself, but after reading a very detailed instructable for it.....I changed my mind, lol.

I do believe you & I have found the same instructions LOL. Verizon store huh?? Wonder if we even have one around these parts hehe, really sucks the newest ROMs seem to require TWRP as I am confined to the volume buttons/home as the only real means of navigation. But thank you for the info, I have friends who work for Verizon so maybe they can help

So I managed to get a custom rom and whatnot onto my Mega. I'm currently running Cm12.1 with Philz Touch Recovery. Been using the phone for almost 24 hours now and all is working well. The only issue I've found this far is that despite being a 4G LTE phone, I can only manage to get 3G. This could just be a carrier problem and not the phone or rom. I'm not at home right now, but when I get home I'll post the instructions I used to get everything working. Cheers!

So I did that and found that my GSM service is currently active, yet my preferred network type is set to LTE/CDMA. I tried changing it to LTE/GSM to see if that would help anything, but it just sets itself back to CDMA after a few seconds.

Try switching it to GSM auto (PrL) or CDMA/GSM/LTE, & also keep in mind, some of these old phones simply tell you 3G when in reality you're getting the untapped lol
I dedicated like a week to getting free 4G LTE service, finally have it untapped thru VZW

I did try your suggestion, but as I said before, none of the changes I make seem to stick. After a few seconds, I can watch the setting change right back to the default setting. I don't know if I'm missing something to make the setting take hold, but for now I'm stuck on LTE/CDMA auto (PRL). I wasn't even aware this was a GSM phone as I thought US Cellular used CDMA. I could be wrong, though.

What this does:
1. Flashes your US-model Axon 10 pro to the official European A11 release which works except in the US except for the modem
2. Flashes the US-model modem after the Europe ROM is installed to bring back cell service and make the phone work with the ROM
What you will need:
Xiaomi MiFlash Tool https://www.xiaomiflash.com/download/
Full EDL image for A2020G https://disk.yandex.ru/d/tFL86aR5ESEVWQ (European flash)
ZTE SD card update to android 11 for A2020G https://oss.ztedevices.com/prod/cn/direct/germany/a10pro4g/A10 Pro 4G SD card software\(414360B1331MyOS11.3.4_A2020GPro_EEA\).zip (European flash)
Full EDL image for A2020U https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=17248734326145680432 (US flash)
Axon 10 Pro \\(Non-5G\\) EDL Tool https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=1899786940962580139
Make sure every download completes successfully before continuing.
Steps:
1. Make sure all files unpack successfully
2. Make sure you have the Google USB driver installed
3. Back up anything you need from the phone. Factory reset/wipe your phone, then reboot.
4. Reboot into EDL mode (power on with both volume buttons pressed).
5. Nothing will display on screen in this mode, but if you connect to your PC and run MiFlash (XiaoMiFlash.exe), then refesh, it should show a COM port connection.
6. Using MiFlash, select the "Full EDL image for A2020G" folder, then flash
7. After a successful flash, your phone will boot into the A2020G image. Wait at least 10 minutes. If it gets stuck on the logo screen like mine did, power off and boot into recovery (power plus volume down), factory reset/wipe your phone, then reboot.
8. Connect to Wifi, if you are prompted to install an update, go ahead and do it (I was not).
9. Extract the ZTE SD card update to android 11 for A2020G file on your PC.
10. Connect your phone to your PC as a media device, and copy the extracted update.zip to the root folder of your phone.
11. Go into Settings->System_>Updates and scan for an update. It should be found now and apply the update.
12. After reboot you should now see the "MYOS" logo. You now have Android 11 but need to flash the US modem for it to complete.
13. Unlock developer mode in settings and turn on USB debugging
14. Extract the Axon 10 Pro \\(Non-5G\\) EDL Tool on your PC
15. Extract the Full EDL image for A2020U file and find the modem.bin file.
16. Copy the modem.bin file to \Axon10_EDL_TOOL_v3.2.5\flash\modem.
17. Make a second copy of modem.bin in the same location
18. Name one file "NON-HLOS.bin" and another file "NON-HLOS_b.bin"
19. Run the EDL too "Axon10_EDL_Tool.bat" and connect your phone. Follow the instructions to reboot your phone into EDL mode, or do it manually (power plus both volume buttons)
20. Select the option to flash and then flash only the modem. It should work fine if your file names are correct.
21. Reboot, run through setup, and make sure you turn off automatic updates in settings
22. Enjoy Android 11 and curse ZTE for never releasing a promised update in the US

My sentiments exactly. Quality, solid piece of hardware crippled by a lack of support. I've had to shelve it all this time and buy a Samsung because of the GPS bug. Really frustrating. Live and learn I guess. Long-term support matters.

It seems like my GPS issue may have been hardware-related after all. I completed the upgrade to Android 11 but subsequently had multiple GPS signal losses during a drive of less than half an hour. The compass also fails to maintain a proper heading even after calibration. Since the upgrade, I've also apparently lost VoLTE and VoWiFi. Bizarrely, there's now a new idle battery drain situation and the phone repeatedly stops and restarts charging when using a QC charger. I'll probably go back to Android 10 (or maybe even 9?) and see how the phone behaves. Either way, thanks again for your efforts!
So my experience with running Android 11 on the U variant is starting to be a hit or miss. Flashed everything correctly and did the correct modem procedure and I have a semi-working T-Mobile connection. However the modem does not always stay connected even though it shows I have signal. Couple times throughout the day I have to enable airplane mode and disable it to have random text messages start coming through and for my mobile data to actually stay connected. Friends have told me they tried calling me and their calls go straight to voice mail. When I go to check my voicemail I get a pop-up message that says I'm not connected to mobile data even though all settings are enabled correctly. Even made a new APN profile using settings straight from T-Mobiles website and still the same issues occur.
I'm going to reflash the modem when I get a chance and see if that fixes anything. I'm just posting this to see if anybody else using the U variant is having the same problems or similar. Otherwise I'm loving the rest of the features and UI on this device. This connectivity problem is a huge pain though.

Did you happen to notice whether VoLTE was working? It wasn't for me, which is a deal breaker since my T-Mobile MVNO requires it to maintain service. Cheers!
Thanks @bgroins for the excellent hack. I followed the procedure yesterday and so far everything is working fine on T-mobile. Used GPS for more than 4 hrs today, didn't see any drop. The only difference I see in GPS is it takes long to fix after clear and update AGPS data through GPS Test. It used to fix to position faster while on A9 after clear AGPS. As this is one time activity, not something to worry as after it fixes, it doesn't drop connection, shows the right location while moving. If you don't clear, it shows the location immediately within 3-4 sec

VoLTE does not even seem to be an option in Android 11 for some reason unless I skipped a specific setting for it. My assumption was Android 11 had it baked into the framework by default. But yeah Android 11 on the U variant is unfortunately a deal breaker for me as well as my service is very spotty and loses frequent connection even though it shows I have signal bars and am connected to the network under SIM settings. I have to do an occasional airplane mode switch to on and off and I notice I get text messages flooding in.
I had hopes for this as the modem was so easily flashable and we are able to get a semi functional connection but just no VoLTE. And since I don't think there's a way to get root on this version yet it's hard to look at the system files to get further in depth. Noticed this version doesn't have WiFi Calling either which isn't a priority but something I find strange doesn't come built into Android 11 and I thought even for other countries it would still be a selectable option.
Android 11 otherwise runs beautiful on this device aside from the needed services for some MNVOs.

You are correct, I don't see that option in the configuration either. Neither Wifi calling as mentioned in another post.
I am also seeing "cell network not available" issue even when network shows full bars. I am also using T-mobile 4G LTE mini tower and while sitting next to it I see that issue. After toggling airplane mode it started working. Should we try modem.bin from A10 image instead of A9. or they would probably be same?
If I just flash modem.bin again, @bgroins, do I need to factory reset the phone?

I have personally tried modems from A9 and A10 and can safely say it makes no difference in compatibility. I believe the A9 modem did not even search for a network due to incompatibility, and the A10 modem from different versions just did the same thing as it does now. ZTE basically only designed this A11 to work on overseas networks. I don't see us USA users having any luck with it. I'm just going to have to go back to Lineage unfortunately. As far as I know, you don't need to do a factory reset as the modem gets flashed to a different part of the phone and factory resetting doesn't reset anything relating to the modem.

Try either different USB ports, or another USB cable. Also you may have to flash an A10 image first and then the A9. Have you tried using the other EDL Tool app by Unjustified Dev? Might have better luck. I'm going to be flashing my phone back to A9 later this week so I'll report back with any steps if I run into issues.

ZTE basically only designed this A11 to work on overseas networks. I don't see us USA users having any luck with it. I'm just going to have to go back to Lineage unfortunately.

Appreciate the response. I tried two different computers but I'll give your other suggestions a shot. Looking forward to a report on your A9 flash experience. Thanks!

As far as I know, you don't need to do a factory reset as the modem gets flashed to a different part of the phone and factory resetting doesn't reset anything relating to the modem.

Thanks for the response. I was on stock A9 due to GPS issues and while flashing A11, following first post, I took A9 modem. Will see few more days and then move to A9 if it shows too many issues.
