I formatted mine entirely to ntfs and it worked with the app mentioned in the linked thread. But with stock kernel.

Hello to everyone. i want to ask some questions about ext3/4 fat32 app2sd and so on. i am using a gb custom rom on my mini and i use the app2sd app from the market. i partition my sd with fat and ext4. i also know that we can move apps in fat without having any partition (correct me if i am wrong). the question is what i earn by partitioning my sd to ext3/4? do i get some extra performance?
also i mention that in cyanogenmod settings there is an option where we can select it and says ''allow moving apps to external storage'' what exactly these option do?
thank you and sorry for the bad english.
ext4 is the newest format, but it`s not compatible with all roms, fat32 otherwise is compatible with all roms.(no errors) some costum roms have the app to sd integrated, so you don`t have to install the app, you should find this in the changelog of the rom. i hope i could answer some questions
it's not exactly what i want to know but honestly thank you for the answer
I`m sorry to hear that
I found this very interesting thread about ext3/4 an fat 32:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663454 (from post 4)
I hope this helps
thank you very much my friend

If everyone ask questions like the way you do, xda will be flooded with duplicate threads.
Instead of asking why people can't give you the answer you need, why don't you ask yourself why you can't describe your problem properly?
noob.

when you ask a ques try to wait for sometime ,let someone read your ques first before you go post again... anyway
the thing you asking is normal , the option only activates if your file system is rls, when you click it to convert it to ext4 it will convert it and after that will be grayed out since it wont find any rls partition to convert
and if you wana check your file system see above it where it showes internal memory something and your current file system i dont remmber it exactly as i dont have it now .. anyway
this clears you now ? hit thanks if it clears

thanks bro this is what am talking about. i have seen in xda there are 1000 views and no answers. like i said everyone is a noob when they get hands on an android phone. when they post questions we have to help them out. emoiibox has done a pretty decent job putting up that guide on xda which helps a lot of them. hey i clicked thanks button. bro i would like to know one more thing all options(system, data and cache) are grayed out (shows its on rfs) but i have already converted to ext4 but still why its showing system is on rfs. is it because am using chainfire ext4 manager. should i use the modified one by ketut to solve this ?
happily1986 said:
did you use ext4manager from ketut's thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=714285&d=1315543936
ext4manager MUST detect your cf root kernel. if it does, it will automatically show the various partitions and the file system applicable.

thats just the kernel itself. scroll down and find CF Root S5830 ext4 v1.3 in the post by ketut if you want to. btw the link i posted earlier on is the actual download link for the ext4 manager that has been modified to work for S5830 by ketut.

I wrote 2 replies in the other thread where you were asking the question. You see now? You don't read things carefully. Anyway, i can't be bothered to flame you HOWEVER you will do well to heed my advice to read replies PROPERLY because 70% of what you read here might be instructions and failing to read them properly could possibly render your Ace inoperable.
We are all noobs once but that doesn't mean that we are in any way incapable of reading instructions/replies carefully.

system, data, cache i dont think they are options they are just their to tell if they are on rls or ext4 i guess, Actually i have used ext manager, once only in blackhawk Rom by ketut i was just checking it i cant say why it is showing you this ... is the convert to rls option active ? if yes try converting it back to rls and try again if ext4 gets active..
i guess someone else can tell something more about this ...

it should detect it as another version and prompt you whether you want to overwrite or not. Go ahead and click yes. If no such prompt just uninstall the original one by chainfire and install the one by ketut after that.

Honeycomb can't move apps to the SD card. The SD card is only for additional storage for moveies or music.
App2SD is a pre HC feature
oke thats also clear will this be the same with the new sandwich 4.0 software?

I was wondering the same, as it let's you take advantage of all of the internal memory for apps, if that's how you wish to use it.

how do i increase internal memory on LWW ? will link2sd work on ics? and how do i go about it when i have a locked bootloader? .. if i partition the sd card using mini tool , ( which one should i use ext2 or ext4) ? wont x parts be deleted? , will recovery then? ... and after partitioning is link2sd better or mount2sd? or are there any other scripts?
Thanks for your help guys Cheers

You can increase you internal by moving all apps (On SD or On Internal Memory) to the second partition on SD card which should be ext2.. And yes "Link2SD" is working very well with me on ICS.. You don't need to unlock your bootloader for such an action.. Use ext2.. X-Parts and recovery is not related to anything of what you will do so don't worry.. I believe that Link2SD is a very good tool.. Use it
I wish I helped you

As most of you I have the same problem with my SD card. I started "playing" with my phone yesterday....
I have Xperia Neo V and i installed today CyanogenMod. - It looks fine but ... no apps. Furthermore I tried to create partitions over my SD card with
MiniTool Partition Wizard. I tried to install the Jelly Bean, but I get the message that sd card cannot be mounted. Can somebody help me with details over the procedure? (download links and steps)
Thanks in advance
I think the instructions are too fuzzy for me ...
Hi @spirto82 you originally posted your question into a HTC One S thread, so I moved your post into the proper device forum.

I formated the SD as an NFS partition and as Primary and solved the problem! Indeed it was the file system type!
