This is still a work in progress.
If anyone would like to P.M. me a proper way to layout this post I would greatly Appreciate it.
I will work on other guides and such Including Themes and Tweaks, etc.
reserved for more guides and such...
Looks nice, thanks.
I can't wait until they sort out hardware acceleration :| That's the one thing holding me back, actually.
There's a few tweaks I used on my Chrome book the removes some useless logging, which in turn gave a performance boost.
So I'll try to look for some more tweaks like that and apply it to the guide.
I'm also trying to theme conky.

Apparently hardware acceleration already is enabled here, it just doesn't feel like it because vsync isn't working properly.

Nice, I'd love to see what those tweaks are when you get a chance
Here's some performance tweaks of my own that I'd like to contribute (feel free to include these in the guide if you'd like)
I personally use Unity as my desktop environment, and have actually found its performance to be quite decent. It's the only way to preserve Nexus 7-specific features such as auto-rotate, proper handling of the power/volume buttons, etc. A lot of the perceived lag from Unity comes from the dash and it's lenses. You can uninstall the different lenses that you don't use (such as music, videos, etc.) to speed it up a bit. I ended up removing all the lenses except for "applications". The quickest way to do this is: remove all the existing lenses by running:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove unity-lens-*
And then reinstall just the "applications" lens:
Code:
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-applications
Then logout and log back in.
I also choose to run Ubuntu with the performance governor, which runs all four cores at 1200MHz all the time. This will cause some noticeable extra battery drain, but it really helps some apps such as music players to run better and smoother. First, install the "cpufrequtils" package:
Code:
sudo apt-get install cpufrequtils
Then once this is installed you can easily change the governor by running:
Code:
sudo cpufreq-set -g performance
I'm also working with tweaks for Ubuntu 13.04 on HP Touchpad.
Got some more coming your way after testing.

Hmm, doesn't seem to help on Chromium.
I do however use an app called Minitube to watch YouTube videos in, it's got a great interface and as long as you keep it set to 360p, videos play extremely well on it. (Setting it to 720p or 1080p will wreak havoc, though )
Code:
sudo apt-get install minitube
One more step closer to be a daily driver.

I've been using Android-VNC-Viewer since I bought my Atrix. It's worked great so far. Best of all, it's free! You can find it in the market.
I'm using Ultra VNC on my server.
Let me know if you have any questions. It may be a bit difficult to set up at first. Good luck!

Sounds like port 5900 is closed. Google "port forward", click on the first link, and follow the instructions for your specific router.
You can verify whether or not a port is open at CanYouSeeMe dot org.
Let me know how it goes.

I used Splashtop on my old phone. Insanely quick - you could even watch videos and listen to music. Hell, I managed to do some basic stuff in photoshop!
I'm a fan of VNC, but it's not the most secure thing around.
I would set up a VPN connection to home or an SSH tunnel to use it. That will add to it's security. If you go with the port forward route, make sure you shut the forwards off, or close VNC when you don't need it. (Read, VNC alone isn't very secure)
If your not a network geek, then I highly recommend Teamviewer.
It just works, thru whatever firewall setup you sit behind. With zero configuration. You can also add ACL's to allow connections from only certain IP's/Clients to lock your install down a little better.
Been using team viewer for years now. I its the best on market. And free as well.

i use unified remote. simple, and works great
Splashtop remote is a godsend in terms of quickly showing you what's going on on your computer. It essentially makes your phone a remote display capable of not only controlling the computer, but also watching videos, and even playing games. The coolest thing for me is the ability to stream the audio from your computer to your phone. Hope this helps
This does use quite a lot of data so I suggest running it on wifi. There's a free demo as well that you can try.

The ATRIX has an arm based processor not intel, unless they publish the source for it and can be compiled for the arm architecture its not gonna happen.

Actually, I take that back.. its a java based game, but still requires standard opengl graphics libraries.. android uses opengl es.. not sure what the diff is but its definitely not the same.

I didn't like the free version of Team Viewer, because, correct me if I'm wrong, it timed out the server on my desktop after a few minutes (30 or so).

I personally use the paid version of PocketCloud and love it. I've set some clients up with the free version and they haven't had any problems that I'm aware of.
*Edit*
I didn't see NCKevo's post from earlier. I use PocketCloud's RDP and VNC depending on the situation and have not run into any issues.
Also, the free version of PocketCloud is now limited to 1 saved connection.

Never mind 3rd party software that you have to install on your pc/mac/Linux, I like Jump Desktop. Just set up an SMB server on your machine and your good Togo. Should be simple enough since most platforms comes with native SMB support.
Remember, this is just my 2 cents

After testing many apps, I settled on TeamViewer.
It's the only one that offers a decent refresh rate, doesn't pixelate, has simple controls for single-click, double-click and drag. Plus it's the only one that I've found that works well on my Nook and my LG G2X.
EDIT:
After reading about Jump Desktop (market:http://goo.gl/1SPPQ) mentioned by racks, I think I'll give that a shot. Looks intuitive.
+1 Splashtop
It streams sound, and I was able to play minecraft on the NC streaming from the PC. Also tried watching a couple of movies one of them 720p and it ran great. All this was done connected to the same network obviously, I haven't tried the option of entering your google credentials to be able to access the pc through a different network, I would think i would be slower, depending on the internet connection. Specially since my ISP only gives me 1mb upload.
If you are still undecided google or youtube "splashtop skyrim"
Done a search but nothing of relevance came up in these forums.
Just got my phone today and so far just using the stock browser which seems ok but undoubtedly there are better browsers out there, i always used X-Scope on my SGSII but im a bit tired of that now and looking for something else,i hear Chrome for ICS is supposed to be very good, so what browser is everyone using then?
Chrome is not that great on s3 yet, it lags and has touch delays..stock browser is undoubtedly the best browser I have tried . It gets the work done. Only thing I don't like is how you manage tabs . Try dolphin browser, should run as stock but with some enchanced features
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Well the built in browser works really nice, but i personally like
firefox and that you can use addons like adblock and so that i value
a lot personally.
Though I don't currently have the S3 yet, I'll probably use Boat Browser. Easy to use and has been the best I have used for my tastes. It'll be the fist I install when I get my S3.
Dunno where you heard that Chrome 'lags', that's definately not the case. Alright, you don't have Flash. I always thought of it as a huge drawback but I haven't missed it a single time and I've been using Chrome for Android since the very beginning.
It has great tab management, staggering performance and a brilliant look. One of the best things about it is the integration with your desktop Chrome (and all other versions of Chrome you might be using.) Open tabs are synced in real time so let's just say you want to open a link from your phone on your desktop. no more mailing it around, now you can just click on it on your desktop. The bookmark sync is great too. And it's Chrome.

Use Chrome. Also install Flashify. In the rare instance you launch a site that needs flash, just click share, flashify, then select an alternative browser. The page you were browsing is then opened for you.

Stock browser works well here.
Before I used Dolphin, but there's a bug or something. When double tapping to zoom in on an area on the page it always zooms in to the left of the page (instead of the area you double tap)
Do more people experience this bug?
Dolphin Mini - best interface, not a ton of features
Dolphin HD - alright interface, just works
Opera Mobile - most like a PC, best comparability with websites that give trouble, has hardware acceleration, super smooth
Stock - smoothest, least features, and has problems downloading certain types of files, or downloading at all from hosting websites
Is there any way I can install MS smartglass on my Atrix with Gb? Any of the new Jb or ics roms will do the trick but wich one have the full set of drivers and work without problems?

SmartGlass references the method ActivityManager.getLargeMemoryClass that was introduced in API Level 11 (Honeycomb), so some significant recoding would need done to be done to remove this class and/or API Level dependency.
