I have CWM just fine on my phone, bootloader is unlocked, but I still have S-ON
I've followed the FAQ and all the tutorials and it seems like I've followed everything correctly.
Is the all in one toolkit supposed to give me s-off? Do I need s-off to be able to flash roms?
When I flash CM10, I get a CM boot animation, but it stays like that forever. When I flash CM10.1, I get stuck on the HTC logo forever.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Someone please send me in the right direction. Thanks.

no aio kit doesnt give you s off and no you can flash roms while S ON well in your case the kernel is not flash all you have to do is flash the kernel manually i dont know bout CWM recovery cuz almost everyone use 4EXT which is best for amaze in my opinion and alot others too in 4ExT you have a option called smart flash once you enable it you can flash roms and kernels even tho your S ON thats where you went wrong i guess
Thanks! that would explain it. I assumed the roms would come automatically with a kernel.
Where do I find JB kernels for CM10.1?

I've been trying to root my HTC Evo 4G LTE phone and I've run into some problems. I was able to root the phone with no problem, however I wasn't able to get S-OFF due to my HBOOT version. I flashed CWM 10 rom so that I could get Jelly Bean on my phone but every time I booted my phone up, it would just hang on the boot logo.
I researched a little more and I found out that I didn't have the right kernel to run that Rom. I read that I was suppose to Flash the boot.img from the Rom I wanted to install using the Flash Image GUI app. I did so, and when my phone rebooted, it goes straight to the Bootloader / Fastboot screen automatically. I can not get it to load the Rom I flashed.
Can anyone help me or lead me in the direction to get the rom to load correctly?
Thanks

I had the same problem when I first Jumped ship from Sense. Since you have S-ON you need to also flash the kernel of any aosp rom. So first things first do you have the android development tools installed on your computer?

Hey people. i cant get mt evo3d to boot past the fastboot menu. i know...ive read all the posts on it...but mines different. im unlocked,s-on,
hboot 1.57.0000,
when i try to load a rom<negalite, not a jb or CM> i reboot after install and i get popped to my fastboot screen. i am using ext4 recovery, and im flashing correctly...i also dont have a recovery img on root of SD, so thats not it either. i reinstalled the recovery, "rerooted", wiped, and then flashed
the rom. no custom kernal, etc...i just want it to boot normal. i can deal with everything else from there ...anyone know whats going on?
any takers?
Umm couple threads down you can find the fix. Or click this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354529
Now I will suggest going ahead and getting s-off. It will allow you to change your hboot so you can flash older roms and aosp roms which require the older hboot. S-off is really easy to do with little risk. Just make sure you read all the instructions multiple times. Also ask questions before you start if you are unsure of anything you will be doing.
With s-on you can only flash sense based ics roms and have to do extra steps to change kernels. The stock htc kernel is ok but there buttered toast is way better.
Also s-off is reversible so that you can have warranty work done. By unlocking through htc-dev you can relock but it leaves marker on your bootloader screen. So if sprint decided to check they will know it was unlocked. But when you revert from s-off there is nothing to tell sprint you were s-off.

Try turning smartflash on in 4ext
Hey, So i have a problem, I tried rooting my phone, and i guess i messed up somewhere, I lost my OS, and didn't create a backup because i'm stupid and didn't realize this could happen. I found a thread, relating to a similar problem, but a different phone so i relocked the phone with Hasoon's tool. Now i cannot find a proper RUU For my phone. I have an HTC One X+, Radio is 2.14.55.11, And the stock image is 1.20.661.1 or something. All i want now, is to return to stock. I've tried the RUU's from androidfiles . org/ruu/?developer=EvitaRE But no luck. It has some sort of error nearing the end. At the moment i can't find the error, as my phone is under %30, So after it reaches about 70, i'll try again and post the error. I'm getting pretty scared, as i'm new to this, and i don't want to lose my phone. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't really know what else to post, besides the radio, stock image file thing, and that it's the north american phone i guess, EvitaRE. The HBOOT is 1.40.0000 and it's stuck at the loading screen, 'HTC Quietly Brilliant'
Factory Reset's do not work, and push me back into the loading screen. It's in infinite boot, i guess, where i power the phone down and it just boots up again without me doing anything.
I dont know where i went wrong during the rooting process, as when Hasoon did it in his video tutorial, It worked out perfectly. but for me not so well, After flashing and unlocking bootloader etc, i clicked perm root, and i couldn't find the SuperUS or something, so i went to power the phone down into bootloader and it said i had no OS. I don't know what i did, and all i hope is that my phone can be somewhat revived so i can use it.
Thank you for reading, and any helpful information would be just appreciated.
~Cp
EDIT: Extremely sorry, but i have found other posts about this, but i can't seem to understand the fix, so if possible, please dumb it down for me! I'm extremely sorry for even attempting the rooting in the first place :S

You are welcome.

I think you are not flashing the kernel.
Also - after flashing kernel, wipe cache and dalvik...
I have a HTC Rezound that in unlocked, and has Niles Business ICS on it. I can lock it, but it won't boot after. It will not let me flash the ROM to Vigor. It says the hboot failed. (can't remember the exact error).
I am unlocked S-ON with HBOOT 2.28.0000
radio 2.23.10.0123r/2.23.10.124r
can it be restored back? i hear the hboot version is the issue, but not entirely sure. some of the posts i read were old.
i am locking it, flashing the boot img and it fails. i leave it unlocked and try to flash boot img and it still fails.

You will need to obtain S-OFF status before you can go backwards. When I did mine I was on CM rom so I know that works, it needs to be booting to use rumrunner also. Try flashing CM then flash the boot.img in fastboot and get it booting then try rumrunner to get S-OFF. After that you can go back to stock using the guide on here. The instructions are easy to follow and with my limited knowledge I was able to do it so I have no doubt anyone can. Oh, you need to be unlocked to flash kernel in fastboot.

once you get S-OFF use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2509770
Your thinking into it too much, there is no way to return to stock unless S-OFF is achieved, and it must be bootable with a unsecure kernel to do that.
If you locked on a non-stock recovery, this will softbrick... in some cases if you had an engineered hboot, it can hard brick, but I don't think this is the case.
The quick fix is simple, unlock again, flash a stock-ish ROM (like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260154) or known good ROM like Tachyon... REMEMBER that when flashing S-ON, you MUST flash the boot.img seperately via Fastboot.
If you can't get to recovery, you can always boot it by pushing the img in fastboot mode and wipe/flash from there.

I'll give this a whirl. I have to have it back to stock and locked for Work purposes. their email security servers do not allowed rooted phones.

Cool, there are loads of instructions on here for doing this and it is pretty straight forward. I did it a while back for my daughters phone and it worked flawlessly. Just read and then re-read the instructions and you should have no problems. Let us know how it works out and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, someone will be able to help.

Worked Perfectly! Thanks!!!!
You're welcome, glad to hear it all worked out.
Hi guys
Well, where do I start?
I was using Virtous Shooter rom from these forums and it was all fine.
Since a new game came out and it requires Kitkat I wanted to install a custom rom. Funny thing is I wanted to do the same thing a year ago but with no success.
Anyway, I did all those unlocking, rooting and fastboot things but after I got to the cyanogen logo boot it just restarted itself and gone into a loop.
Info:
S-ON
HBOOT 1.53
Unlocked right now
Currently main rom installed is once again virtous shooter but it won't boot. I can only use fastboot and recovery right now
Recovery is Revolutionary but I also used 4Ext for installing Cyanogen 11. I have it all on SD card.
The main thing I am asking you:
Steps on how to revert everything to stock and make it functional. I don't care what it takes, I'll try everything but I just need some direction.
I think I know why Cyanogen didn't boot up in the first place. I had to downgrade my hboot to 1.49 before doing anything else but I didn't...
Please, if you can, help me. I want to revert everything or even better install directly Cyanogen 11 Kitkat for my device but 100% functional.
I am not a complete noob in this so you can skip all those beginner things.
Thank you!!
Okay I fixed it a bit. I succesfuly installed the stock RUU. Any help on installing cyanogen 11?

Bump. Device is working just fine on the stock RUU. I still , however, want to use Kitkat Cyanogen mod 11.
My main issue is HBOOT. Could anyone give me some insight/steps on how to do this?
Thanks

I am in a similar position to you.
I managed to recover my phone with PG86IMG.ZIP and yodas_ICS_deodex.zip.
I am now back at ICS until I can figure out how to get KitKat on, so I can have a go at pokemon Go.
To get ICS back on my Evo 3D (GSM) I applied Clockwork Recovery image via fastboot (but PhilzTouch recovery also works), then told it to apply the above two zip files and it now boots back into ICS.
So at least I can use my phone again until I have the energy again to try to conquer my STATUS 7 issue.
If you are GSM and want my files or links I used to get up and running, please let me know.

Thanks for the reply.
Seems like both of us want to play Pokemon Go.
My phone is working fine since I used PG86IMG.zip. I really don't need files for stock ICS because as I said I managed to make it work at least on it's default rom.
I am still however in mood to get Kitkat rom but no luck so far
