When I turn on my wifi, the 4G icon disappears for a couple seconds then returns so both are in the bar. It shows data is transferring over wifi only but the 4g icon remains. Just thought this was a little strange since last night only the wifi icon showed up... I have tried toggling data, wifi, rebooting the phone, and rebooting the phone with different combinations of connectivity enabled. Just wondering if anyone else has both if these icons present in the notification bar and if anyone has any idea as to how to remove the 4g icon while wifi is enabled. I would rather not turn data off while on wifi so I am able to transition from one to the other. Thanks in advance!

There was another thread on this recently, but mine does not do this. The only time 3G/4G will show while on WiFi is if I'm doing something that requires mobile data, such as sending or receiving MMS.
Thanks. I looked but didn't see it earlier... Found it now though. Thanks for the response

For anyone else reading this thread, it was mentioned in the other thread that disabling the "callerId" app will fix this.

cant find a setting in the app to turn it off, is it non removable bloat?
Removing the calleridname bullsh*t stopped it for me. Try that.

1) Go to Settings/More Tab/Application Manager
2) Swipe right to the ALL tab
3) Find "Caller Name ID" and click on it
4) Click on "Disable"
4G icon should disappear in a second or two from your notification bar. Worked for me!
power control toggle
I downloaded a power control app from the play store and now I just turn my mobile data completely off when I am at home running WiFi. You can do the same thing in the notification bar toggle menu, I just like having the widget on my main screen.
I removed the Caller ID app but I still have both the Wifi/4G icons sometimes. Sometimes the 4G icon will disappear, sometimes not, can't figure out the root cause of it.
EDIT: Apparently running the "Remove" option inside this app only hides it from your launcher. It was still listed in the Application Manager. Disabling it there fixed the problem. Thanks guys.

That did the trick... Turned off caller id and 4G icon went away
Did anyone find that a complete wipe fixed this? I was about to try that with my wife's phone, as there seems to be some lingering text messages going through issues.
I will try that callerID disable thing as well prior to the reformat.

I recently started having this problem where I keep getting 2 notifications for texts after using 2.1
I use handscent sms and turned off all notifications from the default messaging app but they both still notify me of a new text. Its annoying itll vibrate twice, ringer twice. plus I cant even get the default sms thing in the notification bar to go away unless I manually clear it. Never had this problem for the months I had this phone before the update.
Anyone come across this or know how to fix it?
(oh and I tried a search but the xda search engine is down, it's down like 50% of the time I try to use it, so please no harsh remarks about a repeat post if this is one)

Google always works.
google brought me right to this post. so at least the next guy with this problem will be able to fix it if anyone has an answer....? I cant be the first one with this stupid double notification.
seemingly, after disabling notifications, removing the messages shortcut from the homescreen does the trick, although i havn't tried this myself.
you wont loose the messaging its still in your APPS list.
just tried it and it does work

I had the problem for the longest time. I eventually found out that it was the SMS widget in Beautiful Widgets that was causing the problem, even though you hadn't activated it. Uninstall Beautiful Widgets and see if it works.

i had the same problem a while back too. and by disabling the notifications it still didn't work. what i ended up doing was clearing the SMS center number under network settings and retyping it in manually. worked like a charm

I have installed this Rom 3 times and I can't get mobile data to work and I don't have the quick settings in the notification drop Down to enable it. The clean ics Rom works fine for me.
Also it keeps saying preparing sd in the notification
Yeah I had the same issue with data at first. Go into your settings menu and turn wifi off unless you plan on using it and then go to the data settings and enable data networks. You should get data right afterwards. As far as mounting the sd card issue I have no clue. Have you tried unmounting it manually then remounting to see if that solves the issue for you?

No quick settings but there is a settings button at the top of the notification window.
OT, I had to reboot once for my mobile data setting to enable. I mean actually being able to change the setting from off to on. After that...all butter.
Thanks again for all you help! I got this working. The only issues I see now are the screen flickers quite a bit and the browser goes really slow at times when scrolling. The screen takes forever to redraw
It has been brought to my attention this fix does not stick through reboot or wifi cycle. I will mess around with the editor some more however I fear without modifying the framework it may not be possible to completely be rid of it. Moderator can lock the thread please.
have discovered how to remove the constant notification that wifi is off. You must be rooted (thanks to the devs who made that happen) and have SQLite Editor installed.
It is available from the Google Play Store for 2.99. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5zcGVlZHNvZnR3YXJlLnNxbGVkaXRvciJd
Open SQLite, allow root access and navigate down to "Settings storage". Click it then click "settings.db" then "secure". The last line (351 on my device) is entitled wifi_watchdog_on and the value is listed as 1. Click on this then click the pen in the upper center corner to edit the value. Change it to a 0 (zero) and click save. Back out of the app then pull down your notification shade. Long press on the *&#%$* wifi nag until "app info" is shown. Click it then select force close. It will give you the standard warning but don't worry about it.
After these steps are taken the nag will be gone! Hope it helps someone who is irritated like I was.
Thank you for this! Worked perfectly

Thank you very much!!
This worked, but once I turned wifi back on it came back once I disconnected. Anyway to make it permanent?
Doesn't stick for me, the nag comes back and the setting goes back to 1 after a reboot...
is there a way to do this for the blocking mode nag as well?

coming back on for me as well.
Can this be done with the FREE SQLite Manager app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS54dWVjcy5zcWxpdGVtYW5hZ2VyIl0.
If you forcefully uninstall the WiFi nag app, will this prevent it from relaunching everytime you reboot or turn WiFi on?
The app info of the wifi nag said it was Android System

Well... When you long press on the wifi nag on your shade, then choose app info... it's a part of android system that you're stopping... don't know if uninstalling it is possible.
Hmm...I wonder if it's a part of the TouchWiz framework. Hopefully someone can make a hack for it which removes the Ongoing Notification, and also puts the WiFi toggle back in the Notifications Control Panel where it belongs.
You can put the WiFi icon and whatever else you want (I add a flashlight also) to the taskbar with the app "notification toggle" from the playstore.
I have used this temporarily on a few different phones while I was waiting on Custom ROMs to make their appearance.
It works perfectly.
This doesn't stick.

Thanks everyone. I have updated the op and will continue to explore some way to make this stick.
i dunno about the toggle, but the wifi notification is probably an edit in services.jar

what am i doing wrong?
I finally got my HTC One today after calling T-mobile and ordering over the phone, loving this phone and glad I got rid of my iPhone 4. I am currently charging my One, first charge so far and I have a few questions just to make sure everything is good and perhaps making my life easier.
1. Easier way to force quit an app - I was on GSam Bat and had 93.5% apps using battery, I'm figuring that is too high, at least for me.
2. How to enable 4G/3G - Coming from iOS I saw a enable 3G button, making it easy to toggle it, I've only seen 4G on my notification bar too
3. An app that has a bunch of toggles for wifi/gps/data ect - Something as similar as SBSettings, being able to add on for what I prefer.
And if anyone has other tips for a FNG, I'd greatly appreciate it if you posted it.
hey welcome, for the third question I would recommend Power Toggles or Notification Toggles those are my two favorites. try them out on the play store or try searching for a notification widget.

There are stock data and power widgets already in your phone Push and hold a blank area on a homescreen, choose widgets, and they're in there.

Yes they are there, but totally impractical...that's the only play I'd say sense is really lacking functionality, I think notification toggle is the best option... For exactly what op is looking for...

Lacking functionality? Lets see...settings, mobile data on/off, wifi on/off, auto sync, roaming on/off, brightness control, GPS on/off, bluetooth on/off...the only thing missing is flashlight. Not what I would call "lacking functionality".
OP: to force close an app, double tap the home button to bring up all your open apps. Simply swipe the app you want to close, and it will.

I'm using power toggles from the Play store, because it allows one to have the toggles on the notification bar. The built in ones have to be on the desktop screen as widgets, which doesn't help when one is inside an app and needs to toggle something.
Yeah, I ended up getting Power Toggles, I like it more and it works great.

Basically whenever I miss a call the dialer shows me in a notification dot for example if I miss 2 calls it shows 2 in the top corner of the apps icon, however they won't go away and are now slowly building up.. I've called the person back, click on the missed call, went through and cleared call history, force stopped the app etc. Doesn't seem to do anything, any idea? Thanks
I have the same issue
Sent from my J8110 using Tapatalk
It's not just the dialer, it's ALL of the apps that allow notification dots on the home screen. There's not even a specific pattern when they do or don't do it. Very frustrating, especially since I've turned notification dots off.

Same problem on my Xparia 1. I deleted cache, stopped the dialer app and so on but no luck. Only a factory reset solved the problem for me. That's very annoying.
