Hi New on here. Just ordered a 32 gb 8 core (octa core?) version of the S4 online and it includes extra battery, 32 micro sim, leather case, apparently to be delivered in original packing. How do I check if its original? I see some online videos on back covers (samsung logo, missing Galaxy S4 on bottom) but that back cover is removable. Samsung apps? Or is it just a gamble to buy from unknown sources cause inner parts could be replaced off original phones?
What site did you get it from? You could always check reviews for the site itself to see if people have been burned before. What did you pay for it? If it seems like too good a deal to be true that could be a big red flag because it probably is too good to be true.

Taobao (China's ebay) and the seller sold 400+ within the last month with great reviews. Paid totally $350 usd (2200 rmb) and thats a steal considering the price here is over twice that amount amd they all selling 16 gb 4 core S4's. well, still didnt pay cause its pay on delivery but I expect it anytime soon.
So essentially my deal is I have 7 days for a no hassle return. I'm shocked thats there's talk of fake S4 so soon into the release of this phone amd this just goes to show how efficient the copycats are.
I still havent seen the phone but I'm assuming its hard to tell the difference just from outside looks. Even the video on youtube ... The display in the fake looks just as amazing and the screen apps look the same 100% as the original. There's got to be a way that android would have some authentication to state that this is indeed an S4?
Maybe I'm being paranoid but what if internal components have been replaced (they fetch higher profit margins)....any diagnostic software you download amd run? Like a benchmark test....obviously a fake cant compete with benchmark scores.....

Dude, yes dude, you paid half retail of the hottest phone on the market. You DEFINITELY bought a fake. There is no way in HADES that someone could sell a 32gb Octa-core S4 for $325 and make a profit. I would return it asap or better yet, just deny delivery (if that works where you are)
It's a Chinese replica. Type in galaxy 4 replica in youtube
Sent from my Galaxy S4.
Just received it and its a FAKE! The Samsung logo in the back is 'rough' and there's no 'Galaxy S4' logo on the bottom of back cover. Shipped with two batteries and turning it on had no welcome screen and the apps had no samsung apps. Disappointed yet amazed at the build quality.
Well is it usable? I mean functional lol
Sent from my Galaxy S4.
Its functional for sure
Yep! This fake phone is functional running 4.2.2 android. Apparently its should total space as exactly 16 gb. Shouldnt this be slightly lesser since the OS would need some space? All in all very wierd but functional. I've not played around much cause I want to return this and hopefully get me an original.
Are you sure they will let you return it?

Fake S4
HI, I unknowingly bought a fake too, here's a lsit of things to check;
Plastic screen
Not Amoled
Not HD (Have compared the screen to my s2 using video)
Screen is the same size as the s3
Borders around the screen are thicker
The button at the front middle is lw- it should be exactly halfway between the screens edge and the bottom of the phone.
Benchmarks around half the score of the real s4- although this can be faked (the 3d results were good- but 3d games dont seem to load)
The earpice speaker isn't a good fit for the slot in the phone, and is squint
The word samsung on the back is proud of the case, and a different font
The s4 markings are not on the bottom of the case, and samsung isnt printed below the earpiece.
THe batteries are very slim, and dont fit the real s4
the box says octa core- but the phone is the i9500
The metallic border is a different colour from the original
The phone has 2gig internal memory-- the free sd card is to trick you into thinking it is a bigger capacity, I assume the original phone has 16gig internal plus expandable slot.
The OS seems laggy, and is buggy
The settings are incomplete for the s4, only basic settings included.
Also my understanding of it is that the phone cant be rooted or modded- it will already have a modded chinese bootloader which would be hard to change, and none of the usual s4 roms would work (forgive my noob use of technical terms).
I bought mine from MANCEBA1998 (Gloria Mfwenbundo, 102 DULVERTON aVE, NG86EA) on ebay, as a real phone, i was stupid/ whatever. I got in touch with ebay and started a claim, she responded, saying she thought the phone was real as far as she is concerned, then ignored my emails for 2 days- I checked her other listings- and found a second s4 for sale, I could tell from the picture it was fake- so I told ebay and had the listing removed. She responded within a few hours with offers of a refund if I pay to send the phone back... I told her to get stuffed, send me my money- if she sends me postage she will get this fake phone back or i'll report her to her local trading standards...
Will see what happens- the point is, ebay have a case system where you can deal with refunds for not as described goods, and they frown on fake stuff. If the phone was listed as real then you will get your money back, but do so ASAP

Ebay buyer protection should give you a return shipping label if you open a case.
Resolution
I know it's an old post, but I want to start a thread, so I thought I might as well post here as anywhere else.
It all went according to plan, ebay sent a label to return, so I got my refund, then sent the dodgy phone back. Case closed. Cheers

Hi xda-Members,
I have a simple question:
Is the Cube U9GT-2 compatible with CyanogenMod?
I've got Gingerbread on my tablet, but I'm not really satisfied with this OS, maybe because it's developed for smartphones and not tablets.
Greets Meldamos
Hi.
Unfortunately I cannot help with your question. All I know is that some people are experimentinig with ICS (Android 4.0) on the U9GT-2, and there is a beta firmware for it if you would like to give it a try.
I am also thinking of buying one of these tablets. I found it for 230 Euros (=290 USD, =190 GBP). I was just about to press the "Add to cart" button when I saw your post.
What do you thing about this tablet? Do you have it long? Are you happy?
Also can you please PM me with the information of where you bought it from and if you were happy with the transaction (if it was an online buy)?
Thanks
Little review of U9GT-2
Well I have this tablet for 2-3 Weeks now and I don't regret it. I bought this tablet over an online-shop called cect-shop, because the support is in german and it has a warranty of 1 year. And there it costs 200€ with 25€ express shipment (there in 3 days from china to germany ^^) and 25€ toll. All in all I paid around 250€, much cheaper than here in germany where it starts at 350€ up to 700€ and not almost on a level of the capacity this tablet has. By the way if you ask cect-shop, they'll send you a stylus pen with your tablet for free.
The tablet uses Android 2.3 with Honeycomb style, not bad but could be better. The OS seems not to be build for battery saving, because the power runs of after 2-3 days in standby.
I asked the manufacturer about ICS and got the answer that they're working on it, but still need time to finish the compatibility with U9GT-2. They'll publish it on their homepage I think.
On the look it get often mistaken with an Apple iPad but it's not exactly like one. The capacitive display works fine, it discerns up to 10 fingers but you are not using 10 finger actually ^^
The sound is pretty good I think, even if I don't really know how the standard quality of tablets are. The big trouble is like I said the OS. But it's a thing you can change and does not affect the quality of this tablet.
If anyone has precise questions feel free to ask. I'm not good at writing a review.
Thanks for the valuable info.
Few questions more if you are kind enough:
1. Can you confirm the manufacturer's site? I have found one web address in China and never managed to connect
2. Can you confirm the thickness of it? Is it realy less than 10mm? Does it actually feel like an i-pad when you are carrying it around?
3. The material on the back side is it realy aluminium?
4. I have noticed that on different sites they give slightly different specs from cect.Ie pandawill gives a CPU of 1Ghz, thickness of 7mm and battery capacity 8000mAh, though cect gives 1.2Ghz, 9.7mm and 7600MAh. This is a problem with the Chinese sites / products / clones I guess... Nevertheless, since you are in Germany, you must have heard or seen an Easypix Easypad, have you? I am between the cube and the Easypad 970 (at easypix.eu). They look very similar. Do you have any personal feedback on that ?
5. Finally, does the screen look and feel like being IPS or not?
Sorry if I bother you too much, but it's the first time I buy a gadget withut actually testing or seeing one, so I am a bit concerned. Thanks

Okay let's start:
1. Yes the manufacturer is available. There are also 2 supporter for questions available via skype. They're on workdays online so you can ask them directly. But there english seems not to be very good so better you keep your questions simple
2. I measured it now, I don't warrant than my results are exactly but they're 243mm x 190mm x 10,5mm (length x width x height). I have never had an iPad (too expensive for a tablet) but it feel very comfortable if I carry it around and it's not very heavy. I don't have a balance here but I think it's around 500-700 gram. Well it doesn't feel heavy for me that's all I can say actually.
3. YES it is aluminium and what a luck it is, because on the 3. day it got pushed against a aluminium pole and has only a really small dent left. A plastic hull would have cracked I think.
4. Don't look at the GHZ, many sellers push or fake them, maybe caused by stupidness or advertising. The U9GT-2 has a Rockchip 2918 CPU. Look for the specs on google. The battery is an advertising medium. I doesn't has 8000 mhA or even 7600 mhA. I has 2 x 4000 mhA batteries but they just sum them what they shouldn't do. Like I said the OS is not optimized for tablets and it really takes too much power in stand by. When playing you don't recognize the power loss. I played 3 hours a game called "deadly dungeon" (a dungeon crawler) and the battery has got from 63% to 49%. Well I've not saw the easypad, but they're exactly the same. They've got the same capacities and even the same OS. Throw a dice from 1-3 easypad and from 4-6 U9GT-2, that would be my solution ^^... Well I don't know if easypix is working on a ICS for easypad, just know that cube is working on it.
5. Well I don't know what you understand of a "feeling" for IPS. It looks like a monitor how you see it everywhere today. Don't know if you still have a cathode ray tube (I have one), but there is a difference. Of course, the games are sucking because they're not build for 9,7" displays . Some games are smoother with the resizing, others are bad. But the quality of the display is very good. Of course, not standard on notebooks over 15,6" (which I prefer) but for 9,7" it's high resolution.
Hope my answer could help you and other people who struggle on buying a china-tablet
PS: I've got many friends who look suspect at the tablet, like it could break every second, and I'm just smiling and laughing about their prejudices.
Fantastic answers.
Thank you very much for your effort.
I will follow your advice with the dice after the holidays
Happy Christmas

STOP!!! xD... Hope you did not buy it.
Forgot to mention that the EasyPad 970 can only use 8GB Flash HDD. U9GT-2 use 16GB! You get the double storage for the same price.
Sorry for my late answer, did not recognize the difference in the first place.
Sh*t. I bought one a few days ago
I generally know what NAND flash is, but not sure about its' importance. Mine still says 5.9 Gb free, after fully loaded with apps (I know they've got nothing to do with the NAND, but I can't seem to find a way how to run out of space in NAND). In any case, it is better to have double the capacity with the same cost, no matter what.
By the way, that NAND is some soldered microchip, or it can be a micro SD card on the motherboard so that it can "easily" be upgraded in the future if the need arises?
Nevertheless, I am happy with the tablet. Already rooted and experimenting. A couple of snags though, but I will find my way around them hopefully.
By the way, is there a way to hard - reset the tablet by hardware (since there is not a pin-hole or something)? Any combination of buttons pressed during power on?
The internal flash memory is installed in form of chips. Two in the Cube, as can be seen at tabletrepublic.com/forum/android-tablet-reviews/disassembling-cube-u9gt2-414.html, presumably one in the easypad. Apparently the 8GB of the easypad are partitioned in 0,5GB for apps and the rest for data while the 16GB in the Cube are partioned in 1GB for apps and the rest for data. I have read that by installing the cube firmware on the easypad 970, one can get 1 GB for apps, too. Personally, I think 8GB internally is plenty because media files (movies etc.) usually are stored on external SDHC cards anyway for fast swapping.
My 2 cents...
I recently bought one while I was in Beijing on holiday and was really amazed with the battery life with Android 2.3, considering I was streaming movies non-stop for 14 hours straight (in comparison with and iPad 2). The multi-touch keyboard sometimes has a lag although most the UI seems to be relatively smooth.
The camera located at the back also took decent pictures during day and night.
Overall this is a neat unit under $350.00 AUD considering most other units requiring a stylus or long fingernails to operate. I will be looking at rooting the device in a few weeks after I do a bit more research.
Let me know if you have modded your unit and your thoughts.
Thanks
Cube U9GT2 USB host controller issues
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping to solve a problem here, I just purchased a Cube U9GT2 Tablet 9.7
running: Android ICS 4.0.3 with a Kernel Version:3.0.8+.
With a build number: rk29sdk-eng4.03 IML74K eng-yangyun.20120108.124417 test-keys.
It came with an OTG/USB Cable and has both a USB and a USB/OTG port.
Let me just state this, I have tested all cables, ports and jump drives and have reformatted them to fat32, they were Fat32 also.
The problem I'm having is ICS can't see any jump drives I hook up to it. I installed a program from the Market called, USB Host Ctrlr. It ran a info check after install, and here is what it said:USB Host Controller Version Number:0.42 S3C USB Host Driver NOT Found! Root Hub Present. USB Host Mode is active.
I'm no developer or even a decent novas, but with decent instructions I can execute. Any ideas how to fix this, The price was Killer, when one is buying from a Chinese Company, the support is pretty limiting when you only speak English.
That's why the great price, I'm not complaining, I just want to get this resolved if possible.
In regards to the Tablet, I really like it a lot! pretty fast, smooth interface, easy to navigate, decent keyboard, (but I'm use to a smartphone).
It plays movies very nice, screen is plenty bright, It can use a Micro-sd card up to 32 gigs. Have not had any crashes yet, had it about 2 weeks. They have raised the prices about $13.00 I had to try one at that price, plus shipping was Free! I ordered it late on a Sunday night in USA, got it in 3 days DHL shipping, Hard to beat. Anyhow if anyone can help here, it sure be very appreciated. I would even be willing to pay something if reasonable.
If anyone is interested i can provide brand new AUTHENTIC CUBE U9GT2 at the price of euro 240.00.
The price include express shipping to all around the world (4-5 business days).
I am sending from European country so residents of EU will not pay additional taxes or VAT !!!

I've been surfing around for a cheap android tablet running ICS and I found the HK-10K. Problem is I have no idea if it's a rebrand or a knock off or what:
http://www.merimobiles.com/HK_10K_10inch_Android_4_0_Amlogic_AML8726_M_ARM_Co_p/meri3551.htm
Anyone have anything good or bad to say about these?
Wow! i want one!
been looking for some decent fake ICS tablet with decent spec for a while
but it's only single core 1.2 Ghz still not bad
1 GB RAM
great for games, which is what i want it for
$205 price tag + free shipping sounds great
however the only gotcha i don't like is that website, never deal with them, can't say if they are safe or not
time to check DX and see if they carry it
Feedback
Yeah, I'm familiar with the product. I'm one of a growing number of tablet users who enjoys operating the pinch/zoom feature by placing my testicles on the tablet and manipulating them with a combination of muscle contraction, ice cubes, and prostate stimulation. In the short time I had to test this product at Best Buy I found it satisfied all my demands and then some. You'll find you don't need to shave as often since the screen is durable enough to take even several days worth of stubble without scratching and the front facing camera has exceptional micro detail for close range "aiming down the sights" photography.
All in all this is great product and fantastic bargain. I'll definitely be buying one immediately after posting bail.
1024x600 for 10.1" screen? Really?
Even though it's not released yet, but this look more optimistic.

They are safe, I bought MID816 from them last year.
Ordered mine a week ago, shipping should take 2-3 weeks. Know alot of peeps who ordered on this website, all orders were delivered.
Just recieved mine yesterday. Overall pretty nice tablet and well worth its money. Unfortunatly ive have problem with the battery and I hope someone here has an idea on how to fix this. Cus I dont feel like shipping the device back to Hong Kong all the way from the Netherlands :/
Once its fully charged ill disconnect the tablet and the percentage drops to like +/-60%. Sometimes its a lil above it, sometimes its a lil lower. And it also drains the juice like a moddafokka.. I can maybe use for 1 hours nonstop, then it has to charge again.
Now I know i bought a budget device from some unknown brand, but still shouldnt this be a little better?
On adroid phones its possible calebrate your battery. Not sure if you need root access for this though. Should that be possible with a tablet like this aswell? And does any of you know any way to make this happen? Or at least fix my batter issues. Cus I hate paying 200 dollars for this kind of crap.
Any other advice regarding this issue is very much appericiated.
I Present the Galaxy Player 5.8 (YP-GP1) Instruction Manual (설명서)
I hope that some of you may be able to find this of some use. I was browsing the Naver Cafes and found a PDF of the instruction manual for the Galaxy Player 5.8, or otherwise known as the YP-GP1. My apologies for those of you that don't understand Korean, however there are lots of pictures, you'll at least have a better understanding of the overall layout of the device's appearance; among other things.
As an aside, for those of you that aren't aware, the Galaxy Player 5.8 was just released on the Korean market today (9/11/2012), although I have no idea of pricing or international release dates.
P.S. - The file size surpassed XDA's limit, so I uploaded it here. I can assure this file is a PDF and that it is safe to download.

Damn. I want it so bad, so Samsung, if you're not gonna release it in the US then I'll buy the ipod touch 5
Good to know that it's already released in Korea
Edit: can't understand anything in the manual. Can you tell me does it have a back camera? If so how is the camera quality.

I couldn't agree more, and can't understand all the people knocking on the screen size. It's not a seven inch tab, but not a four inch phone; it has its own little niche for those that want pocket portability, while having a screen big enough that it's not a struggle to read fine print.
In response to your other point, I was in Korea when they released the Galaxy Player 5.0. When I returned to the USA, they had already started selling the 5.0 here. So, I imagine they'll do the same for this device, once they assess consumer response to the product. Samsung has done quite a bit of advertising for this device, and I think they speculate that it will sell quite well. The next time I am in Korea, I will be picking one up, because I like having the DMB capabilities when I am in Seoul.
You have to understand that they release a slightly altered device for the Western market. They don't need the DMB antenna in Western countries for one thing. But, if I were you, I'd sit tight because I expect that they'll release it to Western markets eventually. If memory serves me well, I think it was 6 months, or so, after the release of the 5.0 that they released it internationally.

6 months, then I'm gonna get the ipod touch 5 which will probably be announced on Wednesday.
Although I want a bigger screen screen and android, but I don't want to wait too long. Also it will have a 16:9 4 inch screen so it won't be very bad (but I still want a bigger screen like I said lol)
(I don't need a phone. I need something like a smart phone without phone calling functionality. That's why I need a device like this)
P/s: I though you're Korean and live in Korea lol

totally agree with this. it's actually not that much bigger than 5.0, only 8mm wider and 2.5cm longer.

Do you mean they advertised it in Korea? It doesn't authomatically mean that there will be an Int version of the device. The refreshed version of 5.0 (with dual core processor and a gig of ram) has never been released in the west, this device may have the same fate.
baladev said:
totally agree with this. it's actually not that much bigger than 5.0, only 8mm wider and 2.5cm longer.

Yes. It was advertized widely in Korea. I hadn't thought about the YP-GB70D, but you are right to mention that. However, I still want to hold out hope, as this is a brand new device modeled after their flagship phone the S III. So, with that in mind, Samsung may want to release the device here with a fresh start; also where the Galaxy S III is selling well.
If all else fails, you could probably pick one up on eBay in the near future.

That's why I need a device like thid)

Oh and do you know does it have a back camera? I just want a back camera to scan bar code and text, not for taking pictures, so it doesn't have to be high quality.

 Nope, sorry. I am not Korean, but I have lived in Korea. I am as white as they come. I like to call myself a linguist.
But, to answer your question, if you take a look at the instruction manual I uploaded, there are lots of pictures of the device and features. However, the short answer to your question is, "Yes. It does have a front and rear camera."
Also, about the iPod Touch 5, I'd advise you to wait for the Galaxy Player, as you'll probably be able to get one on eBay in the near future. If you go with Apple, you look like everybody else. You have the same device as probably 1:3 people around you. Be different, and more importantly, go BIG! You know you want 5.8 inches of screen real estate.:good:
Eh I bet the iPod 5 will be as bad as the 4, but with a "revolutionary" screen size of 4 inches!! I am kinda warming to the size of the 5.8, but it had better be sub-$200 for "only" dual core. Otherwise I would just keep my 4.0 and get a nexus 7.
Thanks for the manual BTW. Now I just need an interpreter, lol!

the ipod touch still has something makes me consider:
- high resolution, it's only 4 inch and has a retina resolution, while the samsung has 5.8 inch screen and has a qHD screen resolution, but i believe the screen on the samsung is not very bad, just not as good as the ipod touch
- good design, yeah to be honest i really like the design of the ipod touch 4, or apple products' design in general, will put it into a case anyway.
tomorrow we (probably) will know what kind of hardware does it have and of course more importantly - the price, now with the $200 kindle fire hd and nexus 7, they better lower the price or at least make it stay the same and increase storage (i think it will be $200 for the 16 GB version, there's no 8 GB version)

I did some more browsing on the Korean forums and it seems that for a 16GB model you'll be facing a price tag of $400 and $425 for a 32GB. I would hate to tell you that these prices are official, but it seems to be more likely than not that these are the prices to be. I am certainly hoping for better. If not, I'll be waiting for a price drop.

I was honestly thinking about translating it myself until I saw the page count. Then I was like, "Never mind! I definitely have no time for that." But, after skimming through it I can tell you that most of it is stuff you'd already know. The manual didn't explicitly say it, but I am hoping that they incorporated a Bluetooth hands-free profile.
Oh! One more thing for those of you who were wondering, the device DOES have a rear camera. I believe the rear camera is 3 megapixels. (I know. I know. Terrible, right?) As for the front camera (don't quote me on this), I believe it is .3 megapixels, but I'll update this post if/when I get an actual figure. (I know I saw it in the manual.)

well i believe they will not price it that high unless they're crazy, at least in the US.
i'd get a nexus 7 or kindle fire hd or ipod touch (because it's portable than the 2 tablets). the highest price i'd pay for the 16GB is $250, and i expect it to be $200.
how come they price it $400, you know my TF300T is $400, the ipad 2 is $400. This is not a galaxy s3 or note 2, it doesn't have good resolution, it doesn't have very good processor, why? because they want to cut cost. who would buy it at $400, i know i won't.
in my opinion $200 is still expensive, the fire hd and the nexus 7 are priced at $200 and they have pretty good specs. that's why i'm thinking if apple price the ipod touch 5 $200 it should have something good/special.
In short, i would never buy this device if it's $400 (which i believe the price is not true, samsung is not that crazy)

i also am hoping for the Bluetooth hands-free profile. the page 121 in the manual says that (using google translator):
"Music by connecting a stereo headset that supports Bluetooth function
Or hear or connect external devices, mobile phone data and

Bluetooth feature on or off."
does this mean bt hf?
Well, the ipod 5g was just announced and seems pretty boring to me. Finally has a "revolutionary" 4 inch screen, when most of the world has moved on to sizes close to 5 inches, lol! Only comes in 32gb and 64gb, starting at $299, witch seems a bit pricy, so I think not many kids will be getting one for their Christmas present, unless their parents REALLY love them! Has a "revolutionary" lanyard as well. No gps or 3g (I'm not surprised). Camera is pretty decent at 5mp, but again is already aging. CPU is the A5 witch is dual core, but once again is already over a year old technology. I would like to know what the ram is, but Apple seems to think that isn't important, since the only way to find out is rip their devices open. It is pretty darn thin at 6.1mm, but I find myself wondering how easy that is to keep hold of, since I have trouble keeping a 7.1mm 4g in my hand, lol! All in all, I say not worth the high price. What do you think?

hmm -> http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/12/pod-touch-hands-on-2012-video/
I actually think it's a pretty sweet looking device.. I think i will get it just to see what this iOS is about (since i've never owned an iOS device before). They say it'll get the iPhone 4s' processor, which is (AFAIK) is very powerful and is (much) more powerful than what Samsung Galaxy players have. No way i'm parting with my Galaxy Players though (In fact am planning to get the new 5.8 as well). Pitty this iPod Touch can't be upgraded to Android.. and Apple devices have crappy batteries (except iPads, iPhone 4S has a 950MAh battery, which is a joke!)
Yup, well tell me what you think.
My dad has an iPad, and here are the biggest things that bug me about iOS: first and foremost, WHY THE HECK ARE ALL THE APP SETTINGS PUT INTO THE SYSTEM SETTINGS!? It just makes no sense! When I want to change the settings of an app, I should find the settings in the app, NOT have to dig around in the system settings! Another thing that is super annoying is the lack of a common back button like android. The unisearch is also junk compared to android's, for example no search suggestions and no customizing searchable items! Another HUGE handicap is no file browser (yes you can jail break, but my dad won't, and frankly you shouldn't have to!). I think this feature is one that truly shows how much more open and PC-like android is! The list goes on, but these are the ones always giving me a headache.

Thanks for the tip. The fellow reviewing the device did a side-by-side with the S III, and the disparity in screen quality in terms of clarity and contrast was painstakingly obvious. You could see that every color on the spectrum was not as lush on the Player 5.8 compared to the S III.
Seeing as how the price I mentioned a few posts ago seems to be official, I am having reservations about buying the device, after all.
My plan of action:
By the time I could feasibly go to Seoul, or by the time the device would potentially be released in the U.S., should it be released at all, the Galaxy Note 2 will have been released. Seeing as how the Note 2 will be full HD, have a much better screen, and be packed with many more features, I think I am just going to wait for a Note 2 and hang on to my current Player 5.0 and hope that developers continue to port things to it.
Thoughts? Ideas?
By the way, here is the link for that YouTube video:

I think that's a fine plan of action, Note 2 would most definitely be better.
If the new Player has a reasonable enough price, I might consider it, however, if it is too expensive, I'll probably just go with a 16 GB Nexus 7, since 8 GB is certainly not enough for me, lol.
Is this tablet worth the asking price? I currently returned my Nvidia Shield Tablet because the quality felt a little meh, and the screen kept showing distortion by pushing it.
Any thoughts and suggestions?
I would really like to stick to Android and this seems to be the closest to the quality of the Air 2.
Would I be ok with the 16 GB?
not worth it for most people imho. lotsa problems if you check all the existing threads. somehow the majority in the threads, including me, are only getting 5-7 hours or screen time web browsing when the pro reviews show ~9hrs (videos are fine - 10hrs+), memory leaks needing daily reboots (which could be fixed by a patch), light bleed, removal of the ability to adjust the volumes without going into settings (you can only adjust the volume of what's being used at the time you press the volume button - ringer, alerts, media aren't expandable).
i still love mine for now, but i'd never tell anyone to buy one until google patches the software problems. the hardware is decent but far from premium. i'd say at $250 it's a good deal, $300 is fair, but at $400 there are other options.
i got it because i just got my hands on a old galaxy tab 8.9. i used to have one when they first came out and i loved the size. i have a note 8, but kinda not digging the size any more. i considered the 8.4, but the nexus at 8.9 - 4:3 is as tall as the 8.4 @ 16:10 and as wide as a 10.1 @ 16:10. for me it makes for better browsing and reading. some people prefer not having black bars in movies, but the size of the image will be the same on an 8.4 16:10 as it is on the 4:3 nexus.
also, the speakers are nice. i haven't had a tablet with sound this good since my archos 101t.

I have the 32gb Nexus 9. I bought an open box 16gb first but I donated that to my daughter and got the 32gb. Having said that I have noticed no build quality issues with either one of them. It looks good and feels very solid. I have owned many different devices and the Nexus 9 is built better than most. In order for me to use a 16gb device it has to have a microsd card slot.

I hate the huge markup on the 32 gb but its the way to go. would prefer 64gb if they had any.
THanks for reply guys. I reserved a white 32GB model but then saw the 600$ price tag with taxes here in Toronto...for that money I could literally get a laptop
I wish it was around 300$ for the 16 GB and 400 for the 32 and I'd totally be ok with that...but at 529.99 I might just get a video card at this point .
I really like the design of the nexus 9 and the look is very beautiful though! I'm sure most software problems will be patched but I expected lollipop to be a smoother transition.
I am in Toronto got the 32gig version, never regretted it.

I, too, wish the Nexus 9 was cheaper. Heck, I wish most things in life are cheaper.
With that said, I had my Nexus 9 16GB since almost day 1 (day 3 to be exact) and have been loving it. Unlike some people who have complained on the forum, I am fortunately among the Nexus 9 owners who never had a single problem.
You may be able to get a laptop at around $600 but it would be a crappy one and it would still be a laptop and not a tablet, which have very different functions. Some of the cons of a laptop being heavier, harder to just pick up and use, lack of touch screen... etc. If you DO for some reason want an "actual computer" for work, then no tablet is ideal for you.
I got the 16 GB also. Instead of forking over extra cash for additional 16 GB space I put the money towards a WiFi HD. All I need now is cifs support.
I'm thinking of Getting the 16 GB model, then using an OTG cable and putting a usb stick when ever i need to watch movies.
I'll just put minor TV Shows or Movies on the tablet that I watch on subway (although I watch mostly on my phone on subway).
Everyone bought the 16 GB version though LOL, I need to find one
@woshiweili
You're missing the point of what I mean though, I'm not trying to make it sound Like I want everything to be cheap, I just want everything to be fair.
The price is very Expensive. for the same price you can get a Samsung Tab S which has a superior Screen and the addition of microSD, also 3 GB ram.
This tab should have been 300 price for standard and 400 for 32 GB...also 680+ for LTE? I'm sorry but no LTE card is worth an additional 150$
Anyways I'm going to go pick one up today hopefully if I can find one.

That's no problem, to watch movies I usually use ES anyways since it also has root access.
i know with archos media player you can index just about any non-root folder, even networked shares (paid version, dunno about the free) and other media players shouldn't have any problems directly accessing a mounted drive.
i considered using my otg cables but i didn't want to lose the ability to charge and use an external drive if it ever came down to it. helluva lot cheaper thought, lol.
I was lucky enough to find an open box Nexus 9 32GB so I saved give or take about 75$. So I ended up paying 25$ extra or so for an extra 16 GB. Will open it when i get home.

As you can see from my profile pic I'm from Canada, and Best Buy will only price match with the Canadian Amazon. Either way I came out about the same with the open box, the only downside is that it was opened but looking it over it's literally brand new.
Don't rule out Swappa. I bought a brand new, sealed 16GB Black Nexus 9 for $330 shipped/no tax, and went on online chat with Google Play Store to transfer ownership of the serial number to me.
Hope you enjoy it. I've made the decision to keep mine and let go of the note 8. Gonna miss using the s pen when taking recipe note while cooking. Lecture notes and a standard capacitive pen will make do until thet make a 9" note. I don't regret my purchase and like the 4:3 more than I thought I would.
I ended up returning it because it had a lot of screen bleed. I'm just going to wait and see what happens when the nvidia x1 comes out.
Thanks for replies guys!!
I went through too many exchanges with the nvidia shield to do it with this one...and this is around 200$ more. I'll just wait and see of any revisions fix the problem.
So I was demonstrating the strength of the mighty android to my Apple loving heathen, and well yea. I broke my screen. XD
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (Which I love) But finding an LCD replacement for it has lead me to two things: All the sources are chinese, so its a bit risky, and I can't buy the LCD screen alone (Yes, its the lcd screen that broke. The picture is all messed up and everything, but the touch works just fine, and the front layer has no cracks.)
Looking at the wonderful prices for a new LCD + Digitizer, (Around 150$ for a Chinese knockoff) I realized it might just be worth buying another tablet (I could buy a used Galaxy Pro 8.4 for around 280$, its almost not even worth replacing the screen.)
Unfortunately, most of my work is done on tablet, and would need a functioning one ASAP. I would do my own research and look around for a tablet that fits my needs, but alas, time is short for me.
So, I have come here to ask this: Anyone have any great tablets I can get for max of 200$? Refurbished is fine. Looking for something with 2gb of ram, screensize doesn't matter, needs to have micro SD slot, would like a good camera but isn't extremely vital. Quad core perhaps? A nice GPU (Whatever fits in the price range), needs to have wifi (Duh.), Most definitely needs to have support for CM, and would like it to be a brand name tablet.
Age doesn't matter, so long as it is powerful enough. Should easily support 4.4. Lollipop would be nice, but I would revert to 4.4 anyway with CM.
I'm all cool with Samsung and other name brands, but can we please avoid the Walmart brand crap?
Thanks so much!
EDIT: Would also go with a phone. No contract, paid in full, under 200$. ( I see a few HTCs I might like, still need to look into them a bit further though.)
