PREREQUISITES:
You need root and a root file manager.
Stock firmware (I337MVLUAMDJ ONLY), odex - it doesn't work with deodexed files.
Due to the changes Samsung made to the SystemUI.apk, this mod cannot be used on the last firmware (I337MVLUAMG1)
Color Circle - Animated: - ADVANTAGE: easy to asses at a glance, just by color and the size of the circle
Discharging:
- Colored, animated circles: High Resolution, 100-50 Green, 49-30 Yellow, 29-16 Orange, 15-0 Red - all reflecting 1% changes.
- Numbers (percentage) color: white (except 15-0, which are red) - 1% increment
Charging::
- Colored circles reflecting the correspondent charging level - both in color and size, refreshed in 1% increment
- The numeral corresponding to the respective charging level, refreshed in 1% increment, alternates with charging symbol (animated)
Other changes from the original SystemUI.apk:
- Status bar color changed to 100% black
- Nothing else
Blue Circle - Animated: - ADVANTAGE: the largest available high resolution, clear numerals.
This MOD uses Kryptos battery icons but all the other elements are white - like the original SystemUI.apk
Discharging:
- Blue circle animated - all reflecting 1% changes
- Numbers (percentage) color: High resolution, LARGEST NUMERALS AVAILABLE, white (except 10-0, which are red) - 1% increment
Charging::
- Between 0-10 the charging symbol is red, changing to white between 11-100. All Blue Circles - see the attached screenshot (#4)
- The numeral corresponding to the respective charging level, refreshed in 1% increment, alternates with charging symbol (animated)
Other changes from the original SystemUI.apk:
- Status bar color: from 100% Black to 100% transparent (Black - 25% - 50% - 75% - 100%)
- 6 Quick icons (vs. original 5)
- Larger date on the expanded status bar
EVERY STEP IS IMPORTANT!!! ------- DON'T SKIP, DON'T IMPROVISE, DON'T RUSH!!!
1. Go to system>app and RENAME the current SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.apk.bak (this helps you restore your original file/state if you ever need/want to). DO NOT DELETE THE SystemUI.odex (assuming you use the stock odex file system).
2. Wait for about 5-7 sec - most likely the phone will reboot by itself once the SystemUI.apk gets renamed. The phone will start normally, although you won’t have a status bar at all (also possibly some funky looking graphics/wallpaper). No worries, this is normal!!
3. Rename the attached SystemUI_Circles.apk to SystemUI.apk
4. Copy the renamed SystemUI.apk to system>app
5. Change the file permissions to rw-r--r-- (644) (see the attached screenshot)
6. Reboot
7. Fix/set your wallpaper - it was changed to the default.
8. ENJOY
If you don’t like it or for whatever reasons you want to revert back to the original file/status, go through the same steps, but this time rename the “saved” SystemUI.apk.bak in system>app to SystemUI.apk. Make sure permissions are right!!!
This MOD can be used in conjunction with NottachXposed - in other words, if you like to have any of these battery icons but you'd also like to take advantage of the multitude of other customizations available through NottachXposed, they should work just fine together (as long as you don't specifically change anything related to battery icons in NottachXposed) - this way you can take advantage of both MOD's

Thanks, I appreciate the offer. The icons I used are 60x60 but I have to admit, the digits in your icons are significantly larger, they may very well be more practical.
I'll definitely give them a try, see how they look.

Sorry, didn't necessarily mean higher resolution in that they were better quality, just that the circle is larger, almost all the way to the edges of the 54 x 54 dimensions. But use 'em if you like 'em!

Same. Also using MDOB and it didn't work. Wished it did though. I think it may be for the reason of deodexed... not entirely sure though.

I believe most users come here with the knowledge that some sort of an alternative eventually can be found in Play store, but this is NOT what xda stands for. XDA (and Android generally speaking) is about freedom of expression, ideas, challenges, customization, learning, sharing and so, leaving some mark by just being here as a giver. Never wondered why so many brilliant developers here never ask for anything in return?
Plus, on a more practical note, no battery app from the Play store can replace or customize the system battery. In other words you'll have to live with some redundancy and useless extras in your status bar. People here just don't like that.
Like with anything else in life, the greatest satisfactions come from giving not from taking.
Cheers, my friend!

I'm just offering an easy alternative, no root, no odex, no nothing , not asking for a life speech. And no, battery circle does not clog the status bar, it just adds a customizable battery circle. thats it.
I just noticed though the circle meter always shows 71. Seems like it's stuck. My battery is at 80. Maybe I need to charge it and it will sync up.

First and foremost, this would not have originally been possible without all the hard work zimphishmonger and the3dman13 did to bring fighspit's original battery mod to the vibrant, please see the original thread here, and give them some thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441
I'm also borrowing zimphishmonger's warning, as i think it works to keep warning messages standard across all these battery mod threads.
WARNING: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup prior to installing any modification, including this one. You are making the decision to install this on your own, and I am not responsible for anything nuclear that may happen to your device.
UPDATE.. I lost count (10/5/2010)
So I dig Eugene's Frankin-twiz rom's, but I still want to keep my accurate battery mod, and well, I think his glossy-black skin is ugly. I also think the stock vibrant touchwiz skin is ugly (for the love of all that's holy samsung, why did you decide the vibrant would be the ONLY galaxy s phone to get your stupid glossy version of touchwiz?!)
So, I ported my battery mod to frankin-twiz and at the same time, ripped all the matte (non glossy) drawable's from the I9000 touchwiz skin, and added in my colored status/signal, mms, calendar, music player, and gmail icons, restored the black background for the power control widget, added HTC's weather icons to GenieWidget.apk, changed to the stock I9000 bootup and shutdown animation and sounds, and of course, I probably missed something else too, lol. You can see some (semi-outdated) screenshots here: http://picasaweb.google.com/113127051130934911253/AndroidStuff?feat=directlink
Also, if you find yourself being a typography nerd like me, you can use this zip to switch the default system font to Comfortaa I take NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for making the original font, or the android port, I only re-packaged the files into a Clockwork-mod zip file for the vibrant. This will also change the lockscreen clock font to comfortaa, but ONLY if using the default android lockscreen.
Comfortaa system fonts: http://www.4shared.com/file/hYu1TYHL/Comfortaa_system_fonts_ONLY.html
New for ftwiz_final: I'm including an extra version with the samsung calendar AND the AOSP mms app, per Eugene's thread, since it resolves issues with being unable to send sms/mms messages. I'm also including the newest version of my battery mod (this is the version I personally like best and use daily), based on the upright/vertical icons, but with colored borders/outline, and a smoother charging animation (thanks to untermensch!) This can be applied on its own, after you flash either of the other versions. If flashed without flashing one of the other versions first, it DOES NOT contain the gmail/calendar/mms/music player icons, or the startup & shutdown animations and sounds. You can see a screenshot added to the post below too.
Download links here, ftwiz_final ONLY:
Removed, sorry, too many people use other people's work without giving credit, and it leads to way too many headaches, he-said/she-said, ignorance, etc.
Everything should flash via clockwork recovery fine, place the zip on the root of your INTERNAL /sdcard directory, reboot into clockwork, I recommend wiping the cache & dalvik-cache, then install zip from sdcard, locate the specific zip, reboot.
Enjoy, cheers everyone, and if you come in here posting bugs/whining for help without first making sure you cleared your cache and dalvik-cache, then I'm just going to ignore you,
Looks Great!!!

I did, switched from the green circle. The battery indicator works fine.
I used the circle one but saw this with the other colored icons and thought they were cool. Seems that they don't quite work properly. Stock the GPS indicator shows in the notification bar any time it's on. With the new icons from the op the indicator is only on if I'm in an app that is using the GPS. I'm going to flash back to stock then to the battery only mod (i figure I need to to switch the other icons?)

Hi,
Thanks for trying it out. I have no idea how there might be issues since this is literally just img replacement from the segmented green circular battery mod, so however icons should work with that mod, is how they should work with this mod.
Maybe run a fix permissions from rom manager and see if that helps?
Also, my GPS icon has never worked like you described, even stock, (in other words, mine isn't always visible in notification bar, even when not in an app actively using gps, its displayed only when using an app that needs GPS, and disappeared when exiting the app.)
If you want to try and modify your own framework-res.apk with these files, I may upload just my png images once I'm done replacing/coloring all the icons I feel like modifying.
Thanks again for trying it out though, cheers
Lastly, I got bored and colored the wifi icons, cell-signal icons, and vibration indicator icon, I'll post the framework-res.apk in the first post, but won't package a new update.zip until I decide I'm done modifying icons, lol.

Anyway, I'm still working on changing all the icons, can't seem to decide where to stop yet, since now I've started modifying icons for other apps, gmail, mms, google voice, trillian, etc. And of course, now that I've gone with a slightly brighter green in the other icons, I may go back and tweak the color of my battery icon to match.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of some of the icons I'm mostly finished with (though for some reason I'm not digging the alarm icon, anyone have color suggestions for it?)

Yeah...sorry about that. Anyway I hate that stupid icon to begin with so maybe something totally different? I did a GIS for alarm clock icon and there are a lot of possibilities. I think that maybe the stock one with a red square and white clock could be good.

If you don't already have it, I suggest you install Koush's Clockwork Recovery. You can install it quickly by using ROM Manager.
Once you boot into the recovery ROM, you can back up your entire phone using Nandroid (highly advised) and then you're free to experiment to your heart's content.
Now back to your question: you can save the file to your internal SD card and search for it using the 'Install from SD' (or something like that) option in the Clockwork ROM, install it and reboot.
Good luck, friend.
What's the right way to revert this? framework-res.apk restore?

I think I'm done with this for a while now, though I might zip all the png files if someone else wants to try and make this into a morph when the app gets updated.

Hi,
Yes, restoring your backed-up framework-res.apk will restore the battery mod. If you used the newer zip that also includes the Gmail icon mod, then you'll need to restore Gmail.apk too /system/app too.

There's a quirk with Motorola phones where the system only shows battery percentages in 10% increments, so for now...no.
The only workaround thus far is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979495&highlight=circle+battery
Sad to hear.. but even a 10% change step view is better than non. Just take the "unnecessary" single steps images out?
sent ftom moded droid 2.2
there's a way to make it read in incriments of 1%.. DG did it.. I believe you need to edit framework-res and add some new xmls that include each step from 1%-100% :T
if you need help with that.. you can try searching for circle battery mod in xda.. and download it.. and look at what's inside the zip and see where you need to put the new .png's and what to write in the xmls.

Hey, sweet! My post got quoted in another topic I feel like a celebrity
Summary
Like many, I am not really into theming much but do enjoy some functional modifications. There have been a few requests for the carrier text to be removed form the notification bar and also for the 1% battery modification for GladiAtrix.
I did not create either of these modifications myself but I did end up creating them against a non-themed GladiAtrix3 and did package them up together.
The 1% battery mod DOES NOT include icons - it simply provides the system with 1% increments battery info. Credit for this should go to bl0wf1sh - I mimicked his mods for the standard services.jar.
The carrier delete removes the carrier ID text from the notification bar AND includes the battery modification as well. Credit for this should go to Greg11784 - I only took his hard work and repackaged it with the battery modification. If you only want the carrier delete alone, check out Greg11784's thread.
Prerequisites:
AT&T 1.83 rooted
Deodexed system (or GladiAtrix3)
CWM mod
Downloads:
The 1% Battery Modification: BatteryMod83.zip
The Carrier Text Delete and 1% Battery Modification: NoCarrierLogoBatteryMod83.zip
Package to return the files to standard: ReturnGladiAtrix83.zip

But I'm personally a red-colored guy, and this orange theme is closest to red, so I think I might like this. I'm not nearly dedicated enough to make it myself, this should be pretty good though I'll report back after I flash it, probably tomorrow. Still at school now

Reverts are just useful, has nothing to do with disliking the theme.
This is a great theme. Very nice shade of orange.
-I really like the pull down notification bar: perfect tinting and crisply colored icons.
-The circle on the pulldown looks a little pixelated. I'm a big fan of CM7's "Basic Orange" pulldown with 3 crisp lines.
https://lh5.ggpht.com/Y20P9I2aLyRD_QXfFodFg1QJe9ofgScfpkkRN_-Ykxs7zT4OZ8nbgUlG-1uyZ9R1zw=h230
-There might be a little too much orange on the top status bar: I like orange icons, but the time and the date should just remain a light grey.
- The Wifi icon also has a pixelated look to it when it's not at full signal-- it makes it look a little cartoony, as if it's bold or something.
- menu button pop up on the main screen has a very nice crisp orange line along the top. This is really slick. I like it.
-Themed settings icons are very nice
-Orange 'g' on the google search bar looks a little goofy. I'd leave this unthemed. Although it's a moot point with the updated search bar...
-The one thing I really don't like is that the settings sections of many apps have buttons that are turned completely orange and this rarely looks good. Even the orange checkboxes look bad more often than good in this fashion. I recommend turning this off unless people really like it. A good orange theme can be nuanced.
This orange theme is one of the best considering it doesn't try to go nuts turning all the app icons orange.
Thanks for the feedback. This is helping me alot for the next release. It is ALOT better than the older versions and is way more discrete. I hope to have it out by sometime tomorrow.

Update fixed the overly orange boxes and checkboxes within apps.
However, there are two things I miss:
1. the crisp orange outline of the menu screen when on the homepage and pressing menu (using ADW or launcherpro).
2. Also the orange wifi and signal bars, bluetooth icon. The orange was good here but it just looked cartoony at some points but great when full bars. Can you add these back?
The new notification pulldown handle with orange rectangle is better than the pixelated circle, but what do you think about doing 3 crisp glowing lines like basic orange?
Or what about a glowing rectangle outline-- that might be pretty cool. Let me know what you think.

Or what about a glowing rectangle outline-- that might be pretty cool. Let me know what you think.

I was looking to themeing the status bar icons again, but it will take a while until I find a good batch image editor. And in the next update, I will change the notification pulldown handle again.

Cool I would like that. Btw I really like this theme. Just one question, could I have to stock messaging app? I would like to have this option to change back to?

Back in the past on my Windows Mobile HTC Touch Pro, i had a battery indicator called VistaHide Battery Gauge v1.1.1 that looked like the photo I've attached.
I am wondering if anyone knows of a colored one for Android like it. I seen a screenshot somewhere (don't remember what forum) where someone was showing something on a screenshot and they had this bar. I messaged them but never received a reply to email and no longer know where I seen it. If anyone knows of one, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Some roms include the "miui battery bar" like viper Rom or miui (if you're into aosp roms). But there are apps like charge bar in the market that do it. Charge bar puts ads in your notifications though. T.E.A.M battery bar is nice too with no ads. They are restricted to one color at a time but you can change the color at certain percentages, I.e. less than 30% will be red, etc.

Yeah, I'd seen quite a few of them like that, but the screenshot I'd seen one guy post actually had the multi colors like the attached image. I don't know how he did it, and can't find the post I originally seen it on to try and contact him again. I guess I'll have to do without, but thanks though.

Hey ProtoProtoss, did you ever find this???
I would love to find the equivalent on Android as it is the most practical approach I have seen to battery level indication. I don't know why there are so many apps consuming valuable screen real estate and resources just to show a system statistic. The VistaHide model was beautiful by its use of the gradient coloring and idea of only consuming a few pixels. I am going to try the Battery Bar by TEAM, but it seems they don't know about or can't do the gradient.

I wish, but I never did. I have up eventually and asked the guy that created VistaHide if he could Perry it over or something, but he never responded. I loved that app too.

I tried the T.E.A.M. Battery Bar and it is close to the VistaHide functionality. I got in touch with the developer who advises that color gradient is in the dev pipeline. So there is hope yet for a VistaHide reincarnation
(now if we can only figure out how to remove the stock battery icon from the status bar)
Mine is fine...

For anyone who is still interested, the UCCW and Zooper Widget apps allow you to create this type of battery meter.
