Anyone have tried?
I'm currently on 4.1.2 Rooted ChainFire
I just wonder if it is possible to flash the 4.2.2 stock ROM from sammobile with CWM?
Which means
i can keep the root while updated to 4.2.2
Because AFAIK, flash via ODIN will remove the root itself.
any respondse will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

all the ROMs on sammobile are Odin-flashable.
It doesn't matter what you flash it with - if the ROM is not rooted, then you'll lose root.
Get a pre-rooted 4.2.2 from the dev section

You have two options, flash with PC Odin, then root with CF Auto root, and flash CWM via rom manager.
Or you can flash with mobile Odin, don't flash recovery.img and check the everroot option this will keep root and custom recovery.

Is there any way to get a custom recovery installed on the LQ5 ICS 4.0.4 without flashing a custom kernel?
Related to that, all I'm looking for is a way to make a nandroid backup with restore option, so if there's a third-party way of doing it, I'd appreciate any suggestions.
I've always used CF-Root Kernels, but I just Mobile Odin flashed this ROM and I have stock recovery, so the backup/restore features are gone.
Just flash the latest CF-Root kernel via Odin in the PDA section and you will obtain your custom recovery. No other way for it.

From what I can see, that's LPK 5.5, right?
Can I flash it via Mobile Odin?

I'll be extra cautious, as what I'm seeing here is it might have the emmc brick bug in kernel.
So what ever you do do not wipe using stock recovery.
I'm using the save ROM and loving it. But will wait for any more news.
Though I have wiped multiple times using the dial code.
Yes I believe you just flash the latest CF-Root either via Mobile Odin or normal Odin. As atifsh said, don't wipe anything in the stock recovery as the MMC_CAP_ERASE seems to still be present and will eMMC brick your device, which is a real pain considering Samsung know about this. But it is still only a leaked ROM, so be very cautious.

If you flash other kernel and you don't re-flash then the original one some things like bluetooth will not work....
If you do my procedure you will have CMW, Root & the most important thing: THE ORIGINAL KERNEL!!! :cyclops::good:
PRESS TNX BUTTON IF I HELP YOU :good:
When I flashed the Stock_LQ5-CWM.zip above, I lost custom recovery and went back to stock recovery.
Chainfire has released CF-Root for LQ5, so problem solved.
Thanks for the input.

You can flash any rom on top of your current setup unless mentioned otherwise in rom installation instructions
if it says "[ROM][XXBLG1][12Jul][V1.6] WanamLite Smooth,Stable & Battery Friendly" do i need to have XXBLG1 firmware or it means it is based on XXBLG1 firmware or any other FW unless stated otherwise?
You will just have that modem when you flash. If the modem isn't good for you u can flash another

my phone is currently rooted, i meant should i unroot before flashing?
whenever I flash a stock firmware via odin my phone gets unrooted automaticaly
I had the same question but after searching a bit, I was informed I could just flash using Odin. Most likely lose root but can be rerooted afterwards, at least that's what I was told.

Yup, just flash with Odin then flash cf root again afterwards

The best way is to root, total wipe, then flash custom ROM and not flash over the stock ROM!

Grab a tar file of recovery in the thread and use mobile Odin.
