that will work, i had one respond but like you said "in case of bad flash" he wasnt to comfortable with Odin. I highly doubt anything will go wrong, but early development on the S3 and AOSP was wiping EFS. Leading to no signal
best to be prepared :good:

Do we have a wiping script?

I'm one of those people who wipes multiple times. With my previous phones there has always been a script (its easier I run it three times in a row in twrp and leave my phone alone for a few) does anyone have a flashable to wipe or maybe could someone make one?

Not aware of one either but I used to do the exact same thing on my gnex so I'd be very interested as well. I'd do manual wipes then run the script twice just to make sure everything was nice and tidy

BRICKED phone flashing kernel

I was running Scotts CleanRom 4.25 on my s3 and flashed Saberkernel.13.4 and it bricked my sg3.. will not boot into recovery.. the kernal works on my note 2.. but just thought I would post to prevent others from making same mistake. I done the battery pull. and can only get a red light to come on , on the top left of the device. Even tried a second battery I have from wife's s3.. same thing.. and it is not recognized with usb chord either. Had to ship it back to Samsung...

Aaaaand that's why you don't flash anything that's not made specifically for your phone, unless you know it's compatible. Sorry for your loss though. Can you get into download mode? Guess it's too late now, if you already sent it back, but I'm sure you tried to Odin back to stock..

Kinda like me I still use my S3 as a backup phone for streaming music on Wi-Fi/hotspot, playing games, hooking it up to my tv, and flashing ROM's when I get an itch, and don't feel like changing my current Note setup. I really like the Galaxy Mod ROM for the S3 mainly because it has Multiwindow, which I can no longer live without!
Sent from my Inverted Beans ROM @ 240 DPI
So, you flashed a Note 2 kernel that is for an Exynos SoC to the SGS3, which is a Qualcomm SoC? I'm not sure why anyone would even think to try this in the first place, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to warn everyone. Also, this is exactly the reason VZW locks the bootloader, because people do things like this and then get warranty replacements.
As for fixing it, you should be able to, but you likely need a USB jig to force it into download mode, then a full Odin tar plus a PIT file so you can re-partition properly.
Exactly what imnuts said. People sending their phones back for warranty replacement due to mistakes THEY made themselves is exactly why verizon is locking bootloaders and why rooting voids your warranty. If people took responsibility for their own actions, the rest of us wouldn't have to pay for the consequences.
Should change the title to I bricked my phone by flashing a kernel that was not made for my phone. The kernel did not brick your phone you did by making a really bad decision.
This thread is bad and you should feel bad, too.

This may be the most ridiculous thread I've seen in a long time. But only the fact instead of paying for his mistake he thinks some how is Samsung responsibly, but how completely ridiculous he was to knowingly flash a note 2 kernel on a s3.
op why do you think there are different sub forums for phones and even carriers. You're probably one of the people who flashed an international ROM too. ...Then sent your hard bricked phone in for warranty

Screwing up is forgetting to check the md5 and soft briking. Flashing a kernel made for a different phone ON PURPOSE then, instead of paying for it himself, decides it's somehow Samsung fault. Oh and then posting here like it's the kernels fault is ignorance!

I just hope that at some point, he can add the full floating window kit. It is awesome. I am not asking for anything, just hoping. I love synergy, and glad it is making it to our devices. I tried flashing the rom last night. I picked the full wipe option and it was stuck at 10% for 25 minutes. I remember on the S3 Synergy rom the full wipe option took a long time and that's why I waited so long. I didn't have time to flash with a regular wipe. I'll test out more tonight.

The new minitab rom does the floating window app better than any other rom ive seen. Only a few issues but theyre worth tollerating.
It looks like a nice rom, but synergy has a minimize button, which you can use just like windows, or linux. It is only on the s3 right now, but it is the one option that makes multiwindow beast.

My buddy runs it on his s3 also.I will check it out. I flip from aosp to tw and back like every other day.

I flashed the sprint version of synergy then persus 36 vzw kernel lastly the vzw convert zip from scotty and it booted up fine
I was able to make and recieve calls but only major issues is I don't have data working
When I check the phone status it'll show my number and ime but it doesn't recognize the carrier its listed as unknown
Any way to get data working?
I also tried the sprint jelly bomb rom and most of the things I've tried works. Calls, bt, text , data , cameras.
1 major thing is that data is very slow even tho I have lte compared to other vzw roms I've tried.
Very sweet rom too but can't stand the data being too slow

Sure, go all in from the feet up - KK. I thinks it's frowned upon here to recommend a ROM other than that you just have to try them and see which one works out for you. That said I try a bunch but keep close BeanStalk-4.4.255-20140307-quincyatt, with Polluti0n's Rom Patch - stable (just like my mother in law said); everything works great, if only twins was legal
P/S
BTW that patch is recommended across multiple KK roms (if I'm right), kernels, CPU gov., selections etc are in-built, I just go default.
And fyi I don't do GAPPS, Google and NSA can take a walk off a short cliff.
EDIT:Cos slowed my phone and I don't have a compelling reason to use GAPPS anyway.

Anyone found a fix for SOD on KitKat ROMs yet?

I've tried every ROM, different kernels, everything but I still get screen of death on every 4.4 ROM I try no matter what. I know WiFi is causing it cause it only happens on WiFi but no matter what I do my screen locks up and I have to battery pull almost every single time the screen goes off. Does anyone have any info? Please I'm desperate and so badly want to run a kitkat ROM.

So do you really just stay on a 4.4 ROM and not use WiFi?

If you can't get this to work then is it possible your device is faulty? Also, does it only happen with wifi at your home or elsewhere too?
