[Q] Plz help! Xperia p battery draining very fast :( - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using xperia p with stock JB (unrooted). I have to charge it twice a day without even any significant use. Sometimes battery just drains out by 10% or so with just an eye blink! Battery details showed that it's staying awake (or something is making it stay awake) while in sleep. Tried using BetterBatteryStats to find the draining app. But just 'kworker' and 'admsrv (or something like this)' seemed to be the only problems. Tried flashing and/or factory resetting 5 or 6 times and still no improvement. Please help.

[Q] Android system at 44% battery use @ ICS 4.0.3 , who else?

Hi all,
Since I started using Lite'ning ROM v2.1 I noticed that my battery was draining very fast.
I went to my battery use and I saw that "Android system"was using 44% of my battery. Wake time is almost 6 hours...
Is this a known bug or is there a solution to this?
Battery drain start with the Better Battery Stats app and thread .

If the rom you are using is not yet a fully stable rom then it could have battery drain problems, although battery drain is usally how you use your phone. Look what apps are running when you notice your battery running down fast, as it could be one of those.
When im at work i actually only use whatsapp, and sometimes facebook while im on break. But my WiFi is off all the time then, only whatsapp and battery monitor were active. With 2.3.4 this wasn't a problem and my battery would be 60% when i came home...
Either google wakelocks and how to pin-point them, or wipe and install NO apps afterwards, run it for a day and if the same problem go to another rom till it's more stable .
What works fine in 2.3.4 has no garuntee's that it will work an experimental ICS build of any sort.
i have similar problem. my galaxy is on wanamlite 9.6, which base on LP7. after 5 hours of not intensive using, i have 65% battery left, android OS use 68% of this battery, most of time my wi-fi is off. when is on, drain battery very fast, over night even up to 20%. when i was on ginger bread it took around 6% - 8% with data and wi-fi on.

Do you have many widgets?
Especially Beautiful Widgets and Fancy Widget (moreover if you activate the meteo forecast) will constantly drain your batter in search for your position. Wifi uses less juice than 3G connections.
Happened to me back at GB 2.3.4. Battery went down to 60% in 3 hours (at the office I'm on G...so even worse cuz the battery compensates for the lack of coverage). After I removed Fancy Widgets from the screen everything went back to normal.
Don't have any widgets as far as I know, only the clock and twitter...
Today battery is know at 26% after 11 hours on battery. Process stil at 39% battery use.
I searched the web and found that there are a lot of users having this problem, especially with the Google Nexus.

For me is same. After 15 h, I have 26% left and 78% of android os

You and I have the same problem. but you can try One Power Guard .
One Power Guard can help the system into a deep sleep,Reduce battery drain

[Q] battery drain very fast

I am currently using the ultimate hd Rom v3.0.2 but the battery drains very fast even though I change all my settings to the least battery consuming. The worse thing is that my phone will show tat I left 15% of battery and the next moment it shows 1% as a result, my phone frequently shut down. Any ways to solve this problem??

Make sure that you have no app that prevents phone to sleep. Check your most battery consumers in android settings. Check app that always running (in manage app)

[Q] Neo drain battery

Please help me with a problem!
Start :
2 weeks ago - on March 8 me NEO has lost Cell network 3G. when trying to manually find a network - phone got extremely hot, can not hold in hand, I shut down him and pulled the battery.
after 15 minutes phone get cold, I put the battery back, connected to the network 2G.
continued:
NEO very quickly start to drain the battery - for a night in standby from 100% dropped to 20-30%.
I calibrate the battery - did not help, Then flashed to ISC with full wipe - did not help
battery drain for a night - for about 40-45% of the "cell standby" and "phone idle"
I switched network mode 2G <-> 3G, no difference in draining battery.
until March 8 Battery was enough for 2-3 days, per night discharged less than 10%.
what can u recommend, what else can I do?
P.S. screen is not mine, but i have the same data.
sorry for my bad English.
try a good ICS kernel which could give best battery backup
I got the same problem 2 days ago. I've tried to restart, removed and reinserted the battery, restored an old nandroid backup, but nothing solved my problem so far. Last night I switched my phone off, but still I got the same high power consumption. Power consumption in attached pictures.

Try suave kernel and install zelly cream Rom.

Now I have unlocked the bootloader and installed Suave kernel and Zelly Cream v2.5.
But the power consumption is still extremely high.
Anyone found a solution to this problem.

May be battery. Even though my battery monitor app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.bmw&hl=en ) reports good health and shows that current consumption in stand by mode now is about 117 mA, while it was less than 22 mA earlier before the problem started (attached screenshots). It depends on how the app calculates the current consumption. If it is based on a amp-meter or a coloumb counter in the phone the increased power consumption is real, but if it's based on change in battery voltage it may be the battery.
Additionally it feels hotter in the upper area, above the camera lens.
I have the fix for your problem, do this first: turn it off over night and see if it still drains battery, if you notice battery drain even with the phone turned off I have your solution, let me know.
cheers

That is how it is, it drains battery even when it is turned off.
But when I remove the battery from the phone I see no leakage in the battery itself.

You're facing a hardware issue then. If you still have it in warranty I suggest you send it in, if not I can point you out what's the component that is possibly causing the drain so you can change it yourself, although it might be complicated to do..
Try to remember if you charged your phone on a different power outlet when those problems started appearing.
cheers

Yes I was charging my phone when being on a family visit, but I used the usual Sony charger.
I would appreciate if you could tell me which component that may be faulty.
Are you in possession of a circuit diagram and a PCB layout? If the actual component isn't too difficult situated, I think I could change it myself since HW is my profession.

It was probably that, it happened to me when I used a different power outlet.
I dont have the schematics but I suppose you can find it online.
The part that got burned up in my case was: "Mod PA WCDMA 880.915 MHz" which i believe is related to the antenna.
I dont know much more about the piece since it was repaired under warranty and that was all the info I received, but it fixed the problem, currently using the phone without issues.
Good luck with that project

battery drain xperia P jelly bean

hello guys, the battery after update "OTA Jelly Bean" does not last long if I leave mobile data active, I had this nasty problem with IceCreamSandwich but I was hoping to solve with the update.
Now, what can I do to fix?
putting some "custom rom" I can fix?

Man...i was installed stock jb and it was awesome...everything so smooth & fast , but my battery lasts a few hours ( 3~4h )
Then i was flashed a custom Kernel ( nemesis ) and Enigma ROM and it was very good, but i decide to turn back to ICS cause the baterry lasts longer in ICS.

same problem..
I'm having the same issue with batery in stock room (JB).
Did someone have the problem solved? The link above helped?
Thanks!
I don't have a special drain with Wifi on, I will try mobile data on today.
Is the drain for use or standby only?
My battery was 80^ after 8hours and 8 minutes with mobile data on and wifi off, facebook and viber running, screen at 12%.
Tha's with stock 6.2.A.1.100 ROM and kernel, I will test again with Phantom and Sliding XP kernels.
Maybe you should identify what is the process that cause your drainm if there is one
still
That's very strange, I completely restored my.phone using SEUS/pC Companion and still draining.
There's no widgets on home, my network mode is set to 2G, screen very darker.. Wifi and mobile data disabled.
Even on standby the battery got drained too fast, like 20% in 3 hours (my xperia arc looses around 10% in 8hours)
the battery use screen shows only screen with 70% of consumption and operational system with 10 or less percents.
Have you wiped you phone when you restored the rom with seus?

Agree
There is an unusual drain in my JB. Even on standby mode there is 1-2% drain every one hour; wifi, bluetooth, GPS, everything is off. And when I play a game for 20min it looses 15% of it's battery. Is it in the JB OS?
kernel: sliding kernel 8.3
ROM: Dark ROM v.1.5
bootloader: unlocked
Rooted: Yes

Why is it unusual?
As far as I can remember around 2% discharge per hour standby with wifi on, data off. gps off, bluetooth on,. is what I always had, with noth ICS and JB. I think a bit over 1% with stamina mode on.
seems good now
Hello guys,
I guess now my Xperia P it's better, what I did?
Flashed again (now using a Sony Flash Tool called Emma .. sorry, cannot post links) , I didn't flashed a custom SW, just the same as I already have on my phone (maybe do this in SEUS/PC Companion will result at the same).
After that, when turned my phone on I've made the normal configs (accounts, download my applications, etc) and let the battery goes to 0%, when the phone turned off, I plugged in to socket and left recharge until says that was completly charged, I unpluged and pluged again then I noticed that there was missing a little to completly charge.. after this I turned the phone on and start to use normally.. until now, 1 day was passed and the phone still alive (normal dailly usage, checkins on 4sr, see some posts on Facebook, etc)
I dont know if I will need to recharge in this way always or this as just a calibration.

try other kernel if unlocked or try other ROM .. still same problem than conform it as battery problem
I have same kind of problem. As long as screen is off I get ~2%/h drain with wifi/3G and listening to music.
If I keep screen on it drops as much as 1%/minute even if it's just browsing web.
Tried various GB, ICS and JB roms.

Tried that more than a few times. Readings seem to be correct - voltages in each state seem to match too.
Tried with another battery from brother's Neo V - same problem.
It's closely tied with screen-on state.
So how can i fix this problem?
