Am I missing something, or isn't this exactly what your own guide does?
Just skimmed through it - I'm still on GB - but have I missed something, am I stupid, or both?!

First open your apk by 7-zip,winrar or whatever dicomplie apk.then go to res folder and look for the icon of this app in drawable-hdpi, drawable-ldpi, drawable-mdpi folders and replace the original icon by new icon then replace the modified apk with original apk in system folder.

More easier way
Use xplore me
Open ur desired apk as zip open res/drawable-ldpi and replace icon.png with your desired .png image
Keep resolution same as in apk
In some apps icon.png are in drawable-hdpi you hav to check that
After replacing use zip signer to sign apk and your good to go
And no need of computer

hi! sorry I wrote wrongly.. I forgot a word.. I know where apps are.. I meant where default app ICONS are.. sorry for confusion..
I'm asking this because I would like to replace the exDialer icon (green one) with the default JB telephone one (blue receiver).. but I don't know where I can locate the JB telephone app icon..
I think you may have had the right image, but I believe you may have to decompile then recompile the app properly to do change that. Google should produce results for a guide to do this as I have seen one recently

Which one do you want? If I have it I will drop box it for you
To replace images you don't have to decompile just drop them in /res/*whichever folder it goes in* with a store compression value.
Only when you need to edit XML's do you need to decompile and recompile.

Thank you very much
It is the blue telephone app icon you can see in the attachment..
I have it somewhere in the system I'm sure otherwise the app couldn't show it but don't know where i could look..
you forgot the attachment
Sorry.. second from the left, third row.. it is the regular jb telephone app icon.. I don't like all the other telephone icons I have..
just trying to upload it now
here
and here

mate.. you are epic!!
that's wonderful.. at last.. thanks so much! :good::good::highfive::victory:
You dont need to decompile to change .pngs...just open the .apk with winrar and go to res/drawable-xhdpi and replace what you want to
the other drawable folders arent used in the S3 - they are overwritten by the xhdpi folder
Edit, couldnt type it fast enough...!!
And that should be dropped in appname.apk/res/mipmap-xhdpi or hdpi or mdpi whichever one is for your dpi.

Remove NFC Icon

Makes the icon transparent. Flash in recovery.
Thank you, that icon is really annoying.
Does it still take up space? Is there a way to remove the icon completely?

I tried to make the png as slim as possible. There probably is another way to remove it completely, most likely an xml edit.

On Samsung phones all it took was an edit to the feature.xml in the csc folder to get rid of it. The icon itself is a png. If there is a smali edit for HTC phones I haven't seen any.

hmm ok then maybe you're right about that. however pretty much every icon on htc devices is in smali...I don't imagine this one would be any different

I realize this thread hasn't been touched in a long time, but in case anyone asks the question in the future, I have a fix for rooted users.
Edit the file /system/customize/acc/default.xml
Find the line
1

Change the 1 to a 0
Reboot phone
Icon gone.

Thank you! SO glad someone finally figured this out, been driving me crazy!! One note - on the 4.3 dev edition at least the line to change is
1

I just wrote a small Xposed module based on Xposed framework to remove the NFC Icon completely. No need to modify the NFC.apk. You could get the app on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467970
Works awesome. Thank you!
I know this thread is old but since the Xposed module doesn't seem to work for everyone I will post another solution. If you don't have the system/customize folder, the setting is probably in
Code:
/system/etc/customization/settings/config.prop
You just have to change
Code:
ro.nfc.icon.enable=true
to
Code:
ro.nfc.icon.enable=false
Very good solution for NFC Icon !!!

[Q]Changing Settings Background ONLY

Is it possible to change the background of the settings menu and NOT everything else like the messages and Xposed modules background?
I know there is an Xposed Module that does it but it changes everything, If someone could point me into the file in which does this so I can edit it myself and change the background that would be awesome!
Thanks

Highly doubt it unless you do an XML edit to make Settings.apk point to a different image but I wouldnt know how to do that. @icedventimocha what do you think?

That would be correct, most likely located in styles.xml. I can try and take a look at it.

That would be another cool feature for the note 2. Transparent Settings Only. Just a thought
I was thinking of getting the gradient that matched the blue in the settings menu bar as it is now
Unfortunately its a different blue than the phone apk so it offsets it and I'm very OCD lol
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 4
Thanks iced, I figured thats what it would be.
I'm not as good supra and iced, but it is in styles.xml. However, it then points to devicedefault in framework-res.apk which then tells it what image to use.
I think the easiest fix woukd be to create your own theme in framework-res and have it pull the image you want then tell settings to use that theme.
