hi all.
when i change some of the files in the res/raw folder i get an FC.
the only thing i have done is to remove the sound of an ogg file (decrease volume - not delete) and save the file.
i really dont know what is wrong.. it is the only thing i have changed, when i change anything else it is fine.
do someone of you have a solution ?
thanks in advance.

I am new to android but I was to fix PPP problems. I read how you can make changes in the build.prop file to fix it.
How exactly do I get to it? I tried searching my SD card for that file and couldnt find it. If someone could explain to me where it is located and how to get to it and how to make changes in the file, do let me know thanks.!!
it's in /system
do I have to plug it in the computer to see the system folder? I dont see the folder anywhere....
prbly long winded, but simple method - install ASTRO file manager, browse to /system, long press on build.prop - Edit - Copy. Press on the home icon then Edit icon - Paste. Connect sd card, edit it, and paste it over from where you copied build.prop
Either make a directory like this:
e.g. E:/Android/root/system
and paste the modified build.prop in there.
Thank you I got it working.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
How can i edit it? I'm using android commander, copied to my PC but then i can't edit it due to the .prop extention? Do i need to rename it?
hello, i wonder if someone would help me out a little bit, a few days ago i started to try modifying the default MusicPlayer.apk on my Galaxy 3.. i extracted the stuff from the .apk with winrar, edited the .png files inside the "res" folder and then repacked all the files to a .rar archive, after that renamed it to .apk and resigned it (i tried even without resigning) but the app wont start..due to this is a system app i know i cant install it from the file manager, but usually it has to begin the installation etc.. i only get something like a parsing package error..any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance..
[sorry if my english is wrong]
Of course it won't start
In the apk there are also more folders than the res-folder, you only see them if you decompile the apk.
But you only have to decompile them if you want to edit ...9.png (eg with that) files, otherwise just extract them to edit and afterwards add them again with WinRAR or something like that
in fact i did extract all files and folders so i repacked all of them again im sure i didnt miss any files, the problem is that i dont know what else the problem could be
danke trozdem für die hilfe help is always welcome
Edit: I found out how to do it open the .apk as an archive (with winrar or something similar) extract the files you want to edit, edit them and put them into the original .apk you wanted to edit (youi open the .apk file with winrar, and drag the edited files and just drop them to the opened archive, and let them get replaced) and done!!
I edited the original MusicPlayer.apk of my Galaxy 3 so that it looks like the Xperia's one (just edited some .png files)
btw here are some screens of my work (till now), but i have so much more things to edit
Hi
I'm trying to paste some audio files inside the ringtone and notification folders but somehow even having it rooted and chaging the permissions to r/w no files can be placed there.
if there's any way to do it??? I come from an O3D and was able to do it, so this is a bit weird for me.
any help is appreciated.
Hi!
I want to modify some xml files in the google maps app (com.google.android.apps.maps-2.apk)
I copied the original apk from my phone, used apkmultitool to decompile it, chanched the files an recompiled it (using option 11: system apk)
after recompiling, the file size ist about 1Mb different to the original.
When i now place it on the sd card and try to install, i get message that it wasn't installed.
Do i have to deinstall the "old" app?
Do i make sth wrong?
I hope you can help me!
Thanks!
Anybody knows a solution?
The Samsung Camera app doesn't give you an option for silent operation.
Yes, it's a workaround to mute your phone first, but it adds another step - which can be a problem if you're capturing a fleeting moment, and you're trying to not intrude.
The audio files are located within the SamsungCamera.apk file in \res\raw.
Would it cause any problems or malfunctions to delete those audio files, re-zip the apk and replace the original with the modified one? Would the app handle the missing resource gracefully?
If this is possible, is there anything else I need to do other than delete these files?
It would be better to copy the Audio-Files, edit it on the PC (Mute) and replace the files inside the APK. Then everything should work fine. (The phone will play the Audio, but there is no Sound in the file)
But the problem is, that you cannot update an System-App without root

Click to collapse
That's an excellent idea. And I have root, so that won't be a problem.
Thanks!
