If you can't get any camera app to work, then I'd suggest reverting back to the stock ROM 4.1.2, which you can find one over in Android development so that you can determine if it's a hardware issue or something with the custom ROM that you're running. I want to believe that it's a hardware issue because you said that you can't get any camera app to work, but with you on an AOSP ROM, who knows how that's affecting your phone.

Hello guys. I'd like to start off by saying that im taking no credit for this just meerly reposting. here is the original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860609 started in the I9000 Forum.. this app allows you to take a picture while pressing the power button and also pinch to zoom. In addition it allows you to take pictures even if the phone has a low battery %....
Installation per original OP "You can install it via "sgs tools" in the market. Select 'upgrade stock apps', then camera hack."
PS im not responsible for broken phones... tested using Axura 2.0.6 and it works..
As fas as i can tell this will work on Froyo roms NOT Eclair..i have tested on Nero roms aswell as Axura roms and all is good, pinch to zoom works and so does the HD recording... enjoy...
works! axura 2.0.6 thanks for sharing
Working on Axura 2.1

Yup, just finished flashing it over too I've wanted a dedicated hardware button for taking pictures for awhile now. SO SO happy to see this.
Thanks for the find.
You sir are a gentleman and a saint for finding this. Probably the best "practical" mod ive made. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Thanks
Finally. Thanks...
Awesome! Works perfect on sXe.

Awesome find. Works great on Obsidian v5.
Working great on my phone with the froyocollaboration rom. I can't believe samsung wouldn't do this themselves! I think it could use a couple of minor updates/changes, but from reading that thread it looks like the op is way ahead of me.

Works fine on bone stock JK6. Has the FFC switch button as well, being based off the i9000 cam app.
Anyone else having issue recording video in 1280 x 720? Just wanted to double check here before I mention something in the original thread in the I9000 forum. I'm running stock JK2 deodexed. I don't know about anyone else but I would like to see this implemented on OUR stock camera.apk. Anyone with more intelligence than me able to possibley do this?

+1!
I love the default camera for JK6. I use the HD Czmcorder shortcut a lot for videos and this mod would be great on our Stock 2.2 Camera.apk

What kind of problems are you referring to? My video seems to record just fine.
I feel a bit slow. I can't figure out how to install this. May someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance

It causes the phone to completely freeze when it starts to record (little circle spinning). I have to do a battery pull. This is only when I change the settings to 1280 x 720 on the camcorder

I flashed the newest version of CM10 (05/10/2012) by 'Jellaxy' but now my camera isn't working at all.
One one hand, it does not hang up when I click an image, but the preview, which used to work fine, is now dead.
Also, LED is now working. :good:
Sorry if its a n00b question but, I want to ask if it will help if I put the working camera app from CM7.2 in system/app.
PS: I posted this in a new thread because I'm not sure whether to post it in the CM7.2 section or CM10 section.
Thanks.
Nope, if you read the thread you would've known that the new update fixes picture shooting and kills the preview.

Please bare with me as I am still fairly new to this rooting and rom stuff.
Earlier today I had installed JellyBam 4.1.0 i777 stable & coming from stock 4.03 ICS UCLE3
So far I seem to like this rom but the one thing I am really into is my camera and it's settings. The camera on ICS was great for me!
Other than turning my volume down how do I disable the shutter sound to the camera?
another
Is there a timer that goes with camera? If not, does anyone know where I can get an app or apk that can fix this problem?
Thanks!

I had requested my post to be deleted on general questions then posted the same question to here on questions & answers.
Thanks............
Both of those items would be under settings in the camera. So whether they are there or not depends on the camera that comes with jelly BAM. Since I've never loaded jelly BAM I don't know. The camera in SHOstock3 has both features.

I moved it out of General and Deleted.

Hi,
The 4.2 and 4.3 roms (Pac) have camera issues.
What's the latest rom version that the camera works fine, and the system isn't so laggy, that you are aware of and can help me decide.
Thanks
Stock. 4.2 doesn't really have camera problems though.

What do you mean 4.2 the SGP 4.2 or Android 4.2?
Thanks

As far as I know, everything but the stock based gingerbread ROMs have rear camera issues
The most support for the camera I know of is one ICS rom which can take pictures fine, but has a buggy preview and many other bugs
I also think that the video camera works on JB roms

What do you mean tiny issues, camera? Really I don't mind if it's not perfect, I just need the camera to work somehow, so you still say stock is the latest??
Any other ROMs preferably ICS (supporting Chrome) are also considerable, I hope I didn't piss anyone off with this sentence.

4.2 just requires that you use the fast burst camera app.

After trying every rom on earth I think the perfect rom for me would be an officially stock rom (debloated) with an overclocked kernel (and more) and the T-mobile theme engine. I understand that as these stock roms become more complex it takes longer to make the custom roms bug free. It would be great if a group out there start making roms with just a custom kernel and theme engine added. You can call the rom T.E.K. Rom short for Theme Engine Kernel Rom. Can somebody do it. Also can someone add the T-Mobile theme engine to the SnowJB rom, I would much appreciated it?

Sorry, due to multiple XDA threads for the subject. I mistakenly asked on different(wrong) thread but I meant to ask here because the title says perfect rom. I may get same or different answer depending on who is looking at. Wouldn't mind suggestion from CM11 users; even not stock but if current nightly very stable running on all cylinder.

I like 1) official cm11 nightlies (updated a lot) 2) slimkat (it was smooth) 3) PSX (good speed) If i had to choose one it would be official cm11 nightly and use the neighborhood kernel.
