TWRP recovery won't see SD - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

TWRP recovery won't see the internal storage on my phone anymore. It did, then I flashed TrickDroid and chose the "wipe" option, and now it won't. I've flashed CWM and that works, but TWRP won't, which sucks, because I only have a backup in TWRP and I haven't found a way to restore in CWM from a TWRP backup.

Y u NO;
Mount the SD Card. It is under Systems or Storage in TWRP.
or (if that doesn't work)
Navigate to /data/media
or (if that doesn't work)
Look right above the swipe to confirm tab. You'll see external and internal options.

Hold your horses, Cocky McCockerson. I did navigate to /data/media, but TWRP still won't let me recover. And there are no internal/external options because it's an HTC One, which has no external memory, only internal.
EDIT: Also the SD card doesn't "mount"
EDIT 2: Thank you for trying though.

I think this will help you!
Go here and read this article its covers the problem.
How is the ONE by the way. Do you think its cooler than the S4?

CWM Question

Got a warranty replacement phone from ATT today and need to install CWM 5.0.2.7. Running UnNamed and have a CWM backup but I cannot use version 5.0.2.3 to restore. I can't for the life of me find a download link for 5.0.2.7. Any help would be appreciated.

Flash Entropy or Siyah's kernel, they have the latest.

You can use Mobile Odin if you just want to grab the zImage.
Though you should just use the CWM Zips that are posted in either thread.
thank you!
Did your old phone go back completely factory? (Binary counter) If not, samsung has a nasty habit of sending you a 600 dollar bill for your replacement phone

Yes, this is my 3rd S2 replaced under warranty. I made a jig a while back, much easier to reset the counter.
Now I am having a bit of another issue. I flashed CWM using Entrophys version. All went well, I was able to flash UnNamed without a problem. From my old phone I transferred over my SD Card which has the latest CWM backup. When I go to restore it will not read my SD Card. If I let the phone boot up into the system the phone reads it fine. I've tried mounting it manually in CWM but it won't take. Not sure why this won't work especially since UnNamed is based off Entrophys build.

Did you use the absolute latest version? If you used 2/28 - the changelog is VERY important.

Yes I did get the latest version. I think I just figured it out, although I am not sure how to go about fixing it. In trying to fix the issue I used ADB to flash CWM to the phone. When I was typing the path to flash the kernel it said it the path didn't exist. Odd. Turns out the path was /sdcard/external_sd/. Once I put that path in all was good. Still when I go to restore I cannot get it to read or mount the sd card. Looking at my old phone CWM was reading my internal storage as the sd card and not using the external sd card to backup. I am not sure how this happened. Of course I can move the backup file to the internal memory of the new phone and do a restore but how do you change the path to the sd card so its not reading internal memory as the sd card?

In CWM prior to 2/28, the external SD was /emmc, not /sdcard/external_sd
After 2/28 - internal is /emmc and external is /sdcard (swapped)

Is there a way to change that path? On my new phone it is still reading internal memory as the external source. Its almost like the internal memory path is reading /sdcard. It works now but this is driving me nuts...

This is the way it works:
When running normally in TW firmware:
Internal is /sdcard, external is /sdcard/external_sd - These aren't relevant as far as restoring nandroid backups
Old CWM:
Internal is /sdcard, external is /emmc
New CWM (following the standard):
Internal is /emmc, external is /sdcard
So something you backed up to /sdcard before will now be /emmc - and CWM 5.0.2.8 fixed advanced restore from the internal (previously external) SD. Normal restore from both locations has worked for 2-3 months.

[Q] help cleaning internal and restoring twrp

Ok, i found a few posts about the internal sd being cluttered with the sd and a/0 that are basically the same. Best answer was use twrp and format data. anyway i recently tried to check out the CWM, but i like twrp a lot better. Now i cant switch back to twrp, even when i select it via CWM, and want to wait to clear data with twrp................ any suggestions on how to get twrp back and or which formatting options i should use in CWM?

[Q] External SD card not mounting.

Topic sums it up nicely, basically, I am at the recovery menu, but my ext SD card is not mounting. I stored my backups and the new ROM on it and am unable to use the phone atm cause, well....bootloop. I forgot to backup my data before wiping, so what should I do now? Currently using CWM 6.0.1.2, and I can still access the Recovery Menu.

Flash stock rom with odin
Sent from my GT-I9300.
Give a thank if i helped you.

stuck in philz recovery.

so I wanted to try cm12. I did a nandroid of my current rom with twrp. I used flashify to install philz recovery. Here's where I went wrong, I should have done a backup using philz recovery first, instead I wiped system and data and realized philz recovery would not read my sdcard. (I do not have security encryption enabled) my nandroid backups were to my external sd card not my internal. I tried getting adb to connect from within philz recovery but that's a no go. might have a usb driver issue Philz file manager is not working also. any ideas for now. I do not want to flash back to stock as i havefiles on the internal sdcard I don't want to delete. i wasn't expecting this.
Can't you just flash cm12 and backup your internal files. You don't need adb with removable memory. Also, twrp will flash cm12
Edit: I mean format new SD card with recovery, place cm12 on it, flash. Than backup all your stuff and start over

This guy has the right idea. Just save what you can from your SD to your computer, then format your SD using Philz so it can read it. Then pop your SD back in the computer and copy your files over and just flash CM12 that way or restore your old ROM using Philz "TWRP" restore method (it actually does backups to and restores from the TWRP folder on either internal or external SD).

External SD backup invisible

Hi to y'all. I have a little big issue. When I do a nandroid backup with TWRP, (2.8.7.0 and r9 by eng) it does. All process go well. After that, when I try to do a restore immediately it show me the backup just done but if I reboot the phone and I search the backup file on extsd it is not present. So I reboot in recovery, tap on restore and magically the backup there isn't. Anyone has got this kind of issue before?
In the flash zip option on top is an option to change between internal and external storage, just make sure external is selected and do a backup again then check if you can see the backup,

Thanks for your answer mate but I'm not a noobie. I mod android since HTC touch with windows in 2008. I did the backup into external SD. Immediately without exit from recovery it shows me the backup made in bit when o reboot into recovery and on android booted it is not more present
Maybe you have one of those cheap no brand sd cards, get a better one and try again (check the one you have with H2testw first)
