When you changed you bootanimation.zip ,that is all you changed, the splash image is a little harder to change. there are iircc two images in the system ,and one is hidden. So yes even though you have replaced the "animation" you may be stuck with the "little green guy" or watever your splash image is. Now if your question is "why didn't my animation change?", then after "bootanimation" you may have to specify your device name, like this bootanimation_boost.zip or watever your device is...

have you looked in /system/media?
If your phone is running 2.3+, try putting it in system/media. Also, make sure read and write permissions are given to it. In addition, using a standard .zip boot animation will not work on a standard stock Samsung ROM.

In order to modify or change your boot animation you need a rooted phone...with root explorer check in /system/media, there should be "bootanimation.zip" & also depending on the anim. there might be 2 more files - in my case "bootsamsung.qmg" & "bootsamsungloop.qmg"

Simple solution. Please refer below step.
1. Download 7zip, install
2. Select folder image and desc.txt, right click -> choose 7zip -> add to archive (appear archive popup)
3. In archive popup, selection; achive format -> zip, compression level -> store
4. rename bootanimation.zip
5. done
Hello, yesterday I recieved a new S III from my operator (movistar) and I've been rooting it and cleaning all the **** it brought (preinstalled apps).
There's something that I can`t remove, the operator's splash screen. It appears every time I turn either on or off the phone and plays a short animation where the word "movistar" is showed. It's really annoying and I don`t know how to get rid of it.
For the moment, I've been looking for a "bootanimation.zip" in System/Media but there's just the Samsung boot animation (which I'd like to keep). I also deleted the "stk.apk" app but nothing changed.
If anyone know where can I find the operator's splash screen file in my phone in order to delete it I'd be really pleased.
Thank you,
Ferran
I suppose that the operator doesn`t really matter and that the splash screen is similar to a T-Mobile one or a 3 one. I'm sure there's a way of removing or changit it but I couldn`t find it on my own, help me please!
Boot splash screen .
Remove by flashing stock rom
Or use search to find the same question asked before and modify the required file yourself .
Boot splash logo is param partition
jje
bootanimation.zip is on: /system/bin/
folder. If i delete it the splash animation will disapear?
Hey Guys, I recently made my first own boot animation for my Xperia Arc S. So I was really proud of myself and put it in the folder system/media and rebooted. When i got past the kernel boot image, the screen went blank and never showed my animation So I attached it and would be great if someone could inspect it to see whats wrong with it thanks
bootanimation should be placed in system/media!!

you should put them in /system/media
Tried that. No luck. Besides the way android runs when it starts up is it checks if there's one in data/local if so, it uses that. If not it then looks in system/media. Still I'm generous. You can have some thanks (even though my problem isn't solved

Hi i hope someone can help , i have just installed freezenooks rom and done the usual reboots. I decided to put my bootanimation zip file in the /data/local file ( as normal) and rebooted. But the screen stayed black ( apart from the end) when it showed a very quick picture of the last picture of my boot animation.
Any ideas?
Update
I think what is happening is that the boot animation is running but ..its as if the brightness is set to dark , as I happened to see a part of the animation even though the screen is black
Maybe it's worth double-checking your desc.txt file and/or trying a known-good bootanimation.zip to rule out issues with your specific animation file?
yes i tried 3 other bootanimation zips , that also worked when on a previous rom ( like my own) . They all failed as well to work . So i don't think its the bootanimation zip.

Hi Freezenook, just an update , when i start the tablet the archos logo shows for a split second. But i have found if i then press the on/ off button very quickly , then the boot animation runs ok.How strange.
update build 8
Boot animation still not fixed in build 8 . DOH!!
I've searched on this but can't find anything. I have a Three network Galaxy SIII that has been network unlocked and works on my O2 account. The only annoying thing is the Three network logo (in black on a white background) that runs at boot and closedown.
I found this thread that describes how to remove what I take to be a similar logo on a Motorola device but, on looking in the same directory, there is no similar directory. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2445150
Does anyone know where this lives on an SIII and how to remove it. I don't want to flash a custom ROM, just remove the ugly Three bootlogo.
These branded bootanimations are in Samsungs´ QMG format. You´ll need to replace the animations and you´re ready to go
I´ve created a flashable.zip for you with the Stock Samsung Bootanimations inside

Boot Logo if it is the splash screen that has replaced the initial Samsung S splash screen its not changeable .
If its the boot animation after the splash then delete the bootanimation files .
System/ Media / Bootsamsung QHG and Bootsamsungloop QMG .
Boot animation see Themes and apps .
Shutdown is System/ media/ video / shutdown/ shutdown QMG
Yeah 3 UK is just a boot animation. Although, there is other "Three crap" on the ROM too, so I would personally just flash latest unbranded BTU, but that's not to say that this is THE solution. Just A solution
Just flashed these. Big delay I know but that's another story.
Anyway. They all got copied into system/media The shutdown file was the only one that didn't replace an existing file and, sure enough, boot up now shows the Samsung S but shutdown still shows the Three logo. Anyone know where the three shutdown file is located?
Edit: Found it in system/media/videos/shutdown
