I cannot get activesync to work using the installed email app or the Touchdown app. I have set up phones numerous times so I don't think it's my settings. I did a google search and it looks like lots of people are having problems getting activesync to work on this phone....it may not be supported due to the device id? Help? Anyone have any info on this? Thank you.

I use Touchdown also for corporate email. I just got the S4 for 2 of us in the company and had no issue with ActiveSync working. I also tested the Android email client and had no issues on my devices.

Thanks. I did get an error when trying to set up exchange using the regular email app that said something like.....set up can't finish... You've reached the maximum number of devices. Maybe I have to have something with my email reset.

Sounds like your problem may be server side.

I'm having the same issue. I was told by my IT that my S4 is not approved for activesync as they no longer approve individual phones. They told me I have to use touchdown. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I loved the way it was set up on my GNex.
Anyways I can get around this?

You might be able to fix it by going to your mail using webmaill, Options, Mobile Devices. Delete any device you are not using. If you flash ROM frequently and don't restore device id, it will create a new entry on exchange server.
Thanks all. Microsoft eventually sent a email with instructions on how to fix the problem.

I really like the stock samsung email app. The only thing keeping me from using cm7 is that. I know k9 mail but that seems to kill.my battery and isn't true "push" email.
What are my options. Would the email apk from unnamed work on cm7? I doubt it.

Probably should have posted in general. Sorry.

there is a stock email client (not gmail) in cm7.1, which works well with my exchange email. it can do imap/pop3 email as well.
Yeah I'm totally aware of the other email app but u cannot set it to push. Only check for mail in different intervals
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
push works, if you mean the same app - which is the one under cm7.1

"enhanced email" in the market is pretty nice esp if you like stock. its enhanced stock. does push.
Well I figured out how to push gmail with the stock email app.
Add new account
Type username an password
Click manual setup
Click exchange
Username will be /username. Leave the slash
Put m.Google.com instead of gmail.com
Viola. Perfect working push gmail with the stock app.

So are you using exchange? I have had this problem as well with the stock email app. I do not use exchange. I have 2 email accounts one of which is Gmail and another that is Road Runner that forwards to my Gmail account. The Gmail app receives push email perfectly but the stock email app waits for its assigned frequency to check for mail.
Will your way of setting up the account work for me?
Thanks!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
I am using 5 gmail accounts on the stock email app using the method I posted above for push mail. Yes it should work, not sure how to do your RR email but if u have that forwarded to a gmail theN your all set

LOL, working like a champ! I was trying to copy your instructions and paste them to a thread I had started over in the captivate thread about this issue 6 + months ago to help anyone out that may stumble across it in a search. Needless to say I failed miserably!

I am running SGS2 with custom ROM AOKP 7.1 ICS 4.0.4. The exchange email app does not populate email addresses that i have recently used or used at least once. I need to be able to simply type in the first few letters of the persons name and then click on the address that pops up from my previous emails, similar to what outlook does on a PC. Hope that makes sense.
Any help on this is appreciated. This is getting frustrating having to type addresses from scratch. Thank you guys.

It works on mine that way, but I am running ShoStock2 v3.1.2. Are your Exchange contacts syncing? My contact list is synced with the Exchange server contacts and it pulls anyone who is in my contact list when I start typing in the To field. Not sure if it will use recently received or sent email addresses or just the ones in your contacts.

I have never had contacts sync with my exchange account. When running stock rom if I sent an email to anyone they always popped up later as soon as I typed a few letters. Now with custom rom it won't work.

I realize that but a custom rom should be smart enough to remember recently used email addresses. I am trying to find a solution bc I really like AOKP rom and don't want to flash something else.

I went back to 4.1.2 recently and while I was trying to do the google setup I noticed I forgot to flash the at&t modems so my wifi wasn't working, I went back to flash it and when I reboot my google setup had been complete only with no restore on anything, I think I lost all my contacts no apps, but maybe if I can restart google setup I can restore them?anyone know how without reflash?

Can you see your contacts if you sign in to Google on a PC? You said you can't remove the account in Accounts & Sync? Why not? Does it give you some sort of error?

Good question, but at least you know they aren't lost. I would try to find out why you can't remove that account. If you could remove it, then add it back, they should sync. If all else fails, you could reflash.

I don't think you can with stock. I'd use a decent third party like maildroid. Then you can have your entire account showing.

Hmm ok thanks for that. I must admit I'm 1 of those people who likes using stock apps because I don't like most ui's of 3rd party apps. But I have had to change the music app I am using recently and playerpro is very good so far so I'll check it out. Thanks

There are a few good ones worth checking:
Touchdown
Enhanced email
Maildroid

... To name a few. Most have free trials. They're way better than stock!

So I installed 4.4.4 on my note 3, and I wanted to take a screenshot for something for work. I then noticed it gives the following statement "Security policy prevents use of screen capture." I do have knox 2.0 because I use it for my employee email. Would this have anything to do with a knox issue or 4.4.4 issue? Thanks in advance

Could be a policy restriction as a result of your companies security profile too. Did you have email set up on the precious software?

I had the email set up previous to this update. Everything was working great before the update. Only security I have is AVG pro, but don't think that is preventing me from doing a screen shot.

well I just installed 4.4.4 and I can screen capture with hand and with pen with no problem. I changed nothing in the knox stuff after I installed
