Hi all
I am having problems with my Xperia sola with a locked bootloader and rooting it. I have followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754429 very closely and have had no luck.

That is what is happening and I have tried it many times and am getting very frustrated. I am having to root it because I want to get CWM on it so that I can install custom roms for locked bootloaders on it because ICS is unusable. Also what is the best CWM install guide that I can use (I don't know much about all the technical jargon; just an easy, straightforward guide on what to do)
Thanks
Well I managed to install cwm, root it and attempted to install the XperiaPremiumâ„¢ on CM9 ROM. It told me in the instructions that I needed to flash the boot.img but my bootloader is locked so I don't know how to do this. Anyway I followed all the other instructions and now it is stuck on a boot-loop. Also the rom is made for locked and unlocked bootloaders. Basically I need to know how to install this rom on my device which has a locked bootloader. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155343
Thanks
You can install an ics based rom on locked bootloader with atis patch. Download dorke patch integrator and open it. Browse for the rom, select Xperia Sola and it will integrate files. Flash this modified rom instead via cwm.

I have made sure i have gone through all the steps at the start yet i get this error.
Can anyone help me?
ICS? GB? Which build?
I am using GB 2.3.4 currently.
If you continue getting errors , then install a custom kernel, most of them are pre-rooted like rage kernel

Build number? 0.62? Not rootable. You have to downgrade. Check THIS thread, point 4.
That's most likely a .62 build. You need to flash .58 first (use Flashtool, SEUS, Wotan etc) and then root it. On mine (way back when I was on stock & locked BL) I used the tool in link below. Then did OTA update back to .62...
After unlocking BL, it's all custom kernels and ROMs from there on out..

One question.what method you used to unlocked Bootloader?official way or unofficial way?
Here my step for install kernel and ROM
1. Flash Kernel with Fastboot method.
2. Flash ROM.
3. Flash Patch or Add on if any.
4. Enjoy...
Looks like you have not unlocked you're boot loader, no custom kernels can be loaded until you have done that

yep gregbradley
unlock bootloader mate
i traied to unlock my phone and my phone is formated and this is screen
are phone is unlocked nw
i sucussfully unloked and instal kerneeeeeeeeeeeel thaaaaaaaaaanks and i press thanks to all helped me
My device (Neo V mt11a) was unlocked (test pin method), rooted , custom kernel (Lupus), custom rom (cm10 nightlies).
I needed to send it for the lab (still in warranty).
So I needed to flash stock rom and relock the bootloader -
I flashed sony stock rom for mt11a (MT11a_4.1.B.0.587_Americana.ftf).
I checked with S1tool that the bootloader is still unlocked - shows letter "r" (as it should ).
I then flashed Xperia_Relock_bootloader.ftf according to this thread
which is said to not really relock but actually just deletes a key so the device "APPEARS LOCKED TO SE, BUT ACCEPTS UNSIGNED IMAGES".
I checked again with S1tool that the bootloader is locked- shows unlocked (letter "r")

}
Right now the device is working, I need to send it to warranty.
So...
When I get the phone back - I don't want to brick it attempting to root, unlock etc....Will the same procedure work as before?
Much obliged..
Dial *#*#7378423#*#* and go to service info - configuration - rooting status and see if it says "bootloader unlock allowed". If yes it's relocked
The same procedure should work again

I think there are so many post about installing custom rom in the device: Neo V, there are so many guides in the Neo V development forum, please don't be lazy backreading the post in the thread, there are so many of them. It's not necessary to make a thread and ask the same questions as other people also asked years ago.
1. Unlock Bootloader
2. Root your device
3. Install Custom Kernel
4. Install Custom Rom
5. Done
I understand and thanks for your reply.I have installed wrong kernel from a thread in XDA despite the fact it was supposed to be a kernel for neo v..now im stuck and my phone just vibrates once when i press the power button
Can the bootloader be locked after a custom rom or a root, well if the stock rom and stuff is flashed again can it be locked?

The answer is a bit complicated.
To lock the bootloader, a root of trust must be set - whereas a cryptographic key is installed, as well as a verification hash against which the boot image and system image may be checked for their integrity. This is always the case with factory firmware, but only some ROM developers have gone this far.
I am not sure if it is possible to lock the bootloader if the firmware is untrusted. If it is, one of 2 things will likely happen.
The device may fail to boot, and display this message:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Or, it may boot, but display this message:
If however a custom root of trust has been set, the device will boot with this notice:
Ultimately, my advice is this: Do not try to lock the bootloader on anything other than OEM firmware, unless the developer of a custom ROM explicitly affirms that the device can be locked when using that firmware.
