[Q] How to reroot cyanogenmoded sgp4 - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

I have a small problem where I rooted my player using zergrush exploit when it was running android 2.3.6. It is now running cyanogenmod 10.0. the problem is some rooted apps work with it (trickster mod), others don't(certaint avast antivirus features). Is there a way I can re root it to fix this problem or another way to fix this.

you could try to reinstall the su binary or look in the list of apps in superuser and see if you have denied su access to any of them whether it be by accident or not
also for future reference, please post all questions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283877

i installed koush's super user instead and that seems to have fixed everything. sorry about posting on the wrong fourm.

thats ok
oh ok. well post on the thread of the link i gave you if you have anymore problems

I know this has been resolved but zergrush was a GB exploit that got fixed by ICS and later so maybe you would be better if you found a root method like motochopper, it would work.

He is running cyanogenmod, there is no way he would need an exploit. He just needed to try another su frontend app.

Ok.
But why there isn't any download link for kies?
There's no need for kies, you'll have to use odin to flash your s2. See the guides section for information or search in xda stickies.

Try this: download supersu zip from chainfires webpage and flash it in recovery and reboot. You should have root now

I'd appreciate any advice anyone could proffer.
Cheers.

[Q] Boot loops after rooting

I've got a SGP311 which I've rooted before but have problems with after a while. The rooting is successful and I can do stuff for a while. Then the boot loops start and don't stop until I do a full restore. I've searched for a way to fix this but not come up with anything useful so far. What should I be doing after rooting to stop these boot loops? Which su should I be using?
All help appreciated.

Use Sony Mobile's Update Service to re-install stock firmware.
Use DooMLoRD's XTZ Easy Rooting Toolkit to gain root access.
I use and recommend Chainfire's SuperSU Pro.

You should only have one SU installed at a time otherwise you may get conflicts.
I've done the first two steps as mentioned in Cat's reply and had no problems.

Thanks. Will try when I get home tonight (if I'm not inebriated. The UK has luvly ale drinking weather, I can't let that go to waste).
Edit: Things seem to be working fine now, fingers crossed. Thanks to all who helped. Next stop recovery.
Edit 2: XZDualRecovery installed tho CWM not working. Will trawl thru the correct thread for solution. TWRP seems fine. Will play with it more later.

It bootloops because the whole Rom is odexed. Im rooted stock, and I forgot that you need to be deodexed in order to not bootloop.

Thanks, I've found it but Root Checker still say to me that I don't have proper root access. Any idea how to fix this?
Try different build of cm. And make sure to do full format of data and system before flashing.

dont go by results of root checker and if u still feel then flash the updates build
if you want try a dorimax test kernel (latest are almost stable) or latest slimkat from fusionjack or resurrection remix (many features from all roms)

its up to you but i would suggest you try a look if your phone bootloader can be unlock...if it can be unlock then i highly recommend you unlock it and flash custom kernel....custom kernel is very good since all custom kernel are pre-rooted and all have recovery by default (CWM/TWRP or Both).... that means you don't have to root your phone and install recovery again and again...
Good news is my phone can unlock the bootloader but the reason i want to root because i want clear my internal memory, 53 mb left and i want to transfer all my app to sd card and to remove bloatware app.. As far i know unlocking the bootloader will not help solve my problem, am i right?

We're not allowed to ask for the best rom/kernel so try some and find the best one for your usage
Btw remember unlocking your bootloader will void your warranty! You don't have to unlock it in order to root it

ICS will NEVER stop lag. Its ics feature (XD) if u want a unlaggy phone get JB or up with a 3.4xxx kernel. Mike's Legacy Xperia id a good choice , and its very suitable for a daily use. recently he gaved us a final CM10.1 version which i woul advice to you to try. :good::good: damn its so smoooth

Hmm,but unlocking bootloader wont help solve my problem like insufficient internal memory space and removing bloatware, am i right? When i try to check my phone with Root Checker, its say my device doesn't have proper root access. What that suppose to mean? Did i accidently delete a file or something else.. Or upgrading to ICS can help solve this 'root access' problem? Sorry i'm very noob at this..

Just root it (again). Use eroot or any other method in my guide and root it. Afterwards root checker will prompt a proper root access and it should work
