This are the settings i currently use but it works for 10 min and then it starts 2 boot again

When i go to CWM and i want to install custom rom cm10.1 i get the error: BAD
Another problem i got, i cant connect my phone with my laptop. I got a driver problem: CDC Communication Interface (that 7 times in my device management) and Comneon Suspend. I think it all has to do with each other

[Q] Reflashing stock Kernel over Siyah 2.6.12

Hey there!
I have a bit of a strange situation on my S2 that I'm not really sure how to deal with. Here's the story:
A few weeks ago I rooted my phone by installing an insecure kernel and using One-Click Root. After that I flashed the secure kernel back to get rid of the yellow triangle.
2 weeks ago I though about trying an ICS custom ROM, so I bought ROM Manager. When I tried to install Clockwork Recovery it seemed to work fine until I rebooted into recovery via ROM Manager. All I saw was the standard "Android system recovery <3e>" with a signature verification error.
A friend than flashed another kernel (Siyah 2.6.12) on my phone. Now, when I reboot into recovery by holding the VOL+ button I come into the Siyah Recovery System while using ROM Manager still shows the signature error. How can there be 2 different recoveries on one device?
So the question is: how can I get rid of this mess, start over with Stock Kernel + Stock Recovery (ROM is still carrier stock) and get the phone to install a CM9 Nightly ROM?
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Phone info:
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband: I9100NEKI2
Kernel: [email protected]#406

[Q] (19100G) Help In Custom ROMs and Root

[Solved]
I was a complete noob but for the past 2 days I've been massively experimenting with my phone to finally figure out how to use Heimdall (since I'm on a Mac) and flashing ROMs and Kernels.
My problem is I got this phone here in India, and yesterday I flashed it with the official ICS 4.0.3 version (since KIES wouldn't let me). But then I say the Resurrection Remix ROM and I really wanted it.
So here are the doubts:
1. I realize I'll need to root my phone first. I read this in a bunch of threads. I started using Chainfire's post as my reference, only to realize that they're meant for 19100 only. Not the G variant.
So, what kernels can I use to root my phone?
My current kernel string reads like this:
3.0.8 [email protected] #2 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 22 15:00:05 KST 2012
The baseband version reads: I9100GDDLP5
I assumed LP5 to be the kernels I should be looking for (referring to Chainfire's post) but couldnt find any for the G.
I came across this link:
androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-international-all-things-root/482437-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100g-all-things-root.htm
It gives a bunch of kernels for G, but for android version 2.3.6. Does this mean:
a) Those are the only kernels I can hope to get?
b) I need to flash the old version ROM to use them?
My other question is, once I do root my phone with the appropriate kernel,
can the G variant use the Resurrection ROM? If I can't, could anyone suggest a good ROM I should use?
And finally, staying true to my newbie level, can I directly flash a custom ROM using Heimdall without rooting? Also I saw a ROM with a Siyah kernel, so can't I just flash that ROM using Heimdall? I mean, if I root with some kernel and then the ROM I install changes it anyway, can't I directly use the ROM's kernel? I'm just asking.
PDA: I9100GXXLPQ
PHONE: I9100GDDLP5
CSC: I9100GODDLP7
Solution:
I went to the Cynagenmod 9 for I9100G on this site. Went to it's FAQs, flashed the clockworkmod kernel and then used Recovery mode to flash Cyanogenmod 9. Works perfectly. Better than perfect. My phone is finally living up to it's potential!
odin
you can flash a custom recovery to your galaxy with odin, check soem guide on xda, then from the recovery menu yu can flash teh resurection rom, that is prerooted
Thanks...but
@meccandroid: Thanks for the reply, but you're saying that the ROM can be installed on the G variant too? I read there's some hardware difference in 19100 and 19100G, so if the ROM is intended for 19100, wouldn't there be an issue?
Problem solved

[Q] How to get my SII back to stock so Kies i can get OTA updates again?

Hi,
had my S2 for a while now and installed ICS through ODIN as here in NZ the updates seem to come a little slower than the rest of the world!
but id like to be on Jellybean and heard so much about unsafe Kernels etc (most of it goes over my head haha)
but i figure my best option, as i dont want a bricked phone, is to go back to stock and get my updates the old fashioned way.
what is the best way to do this? i know other phones can do this through KIES itself...(entering a serial etc), does this work with all phones?
any help would be greatly appreciated!
ICS 4.0.4 stock kernel has brick bug. If you are on stock 4.0.4 then avoid any kind of wiping. If you want to flash official JB go here
Hi friends I own Galaxy s 2 i9100....I got it from UK 3 mobile.. After coming to India I have flashed it with a ROM which is unlocked version as its is locked to 3 network...after the flashing I connected it to kies for backup and found the same message as others in this thread mentioned...so I tried reflashing it with a ROM that is compatible with Indian version and got the issue solved ...I am providing the details of the rom now I am using
PDA: I9100XWLQ2
phnoe: I9100DDLPC
CSC: I9100ODDLPD
BUILD info: Fri oct 26 16:04:15 KST 2012
But recently KIES software in my laptop got updated and when I connected my S2 it stated that my phone is not compatible to update from KIES. But, the same day when I connected wifi in my phone I got a message that an update is available and its done successfully.
Now can any body help me to get that issue sorted out when connected to KIES as it accepted before and now why it is not accepting ??
Thanks in Advance

thankyou! very helpful...now that i have read that entire post i just have one question....isnt that still classed as a wipe? the first thing it says to do is put your phone into recovery mode then wipe?
Flash Siyah or Dorimanx kernel first (without wiping ANYTHING). Then use the CWM that is installed with either of those to...
A) complete the wipe processes. And
B) flash your chosen stock ROM.
When you flash your ROM, you WILL overwrite the Siyah or Dorimanx kernel you previously flashed as your ROM has its own kernel (and CWM). As things stand at the moment, this is probably for the best because there have been some changes to CM10.1 that have made a lot of standalone custom kernels incompatible with the ROM..... for example, I lost my baseband when I flashed Siyah on top of CM10.1 and I'm told that there can be issues with video recording too. Which brings me to make one more point....before starting any of this...
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP....
it's your safety net if it all goes wrong (personal experience is a brilliant teacher lol).......

[Q] Can't remember which custom rom I have and want to update

I had some troubles with my S3 i9300 with constantly freezing, after investigating about it I decided to install a custom rom with a newer android version than what I had at the time.
Now I can't remember which rom I installed and I want to update to a newer version, after reading in some of the rom install instructions, it mentions some requirements that to tell you the truth, I don't understand about them, or I don't know if my phone has them. I do remember that I installed using the custom recovery menu.
So the question is, can I install a custom rom in my phone? Right now I'm interested in the latest version NeatROM, here is my phone info:

Just download the ROM you want to install.. Put it in your sd card.. Reboot to your recovery.. Make a backup of your rom and efs... And flash the latest 4.3 Sammy rom anyone you are interested in.. but remember to flash a modem for your region during installation.. In case of neat rom you will have that option in aroma installer itself... so ya go ahead and perform all these steps most important of which are backing up efs and your rom...
Sent from my GT-I9300
Standard method put new rom on ext sd card .
In recovery format system data cache and sd card .
Flash custom rom via recovery .
Thanks for the responses, I did it like that and everything is working ok.
Spoke too soon, data over the mobile network is very slow, I'm restoring the backup.

S2 Wifi Problem?!?!

Hi guys, I was wondering someone could help me as I am noob in this area.
The thing is my Galaxy S2 I9100 was normally running 4.1.2 android and everything was great until sudden wifi connectivity problem. My Wifi won't turn on, keeps turning on but then just keeps it off and trying on and on. I used Google to help me out and there it says it has to do something with bad kernel .They mention some Siyah kernel as a solution. As I am already familiar with flashing, installing custom ROMs, I updated to CM13 (6.0.1) but couldn't install GApps through CWM 6.0.4.5 because of a small partition. Still my wifi problem occured, and I saw it has nothing to do with the ROM but kernel itself.
MY MAIN PROBLEM:
Can someone write instructions for a best package of KERNEL, RECOVERY and ROM that will fit together with no problems, preferably that Siyah kernel for my wifi problem and working partition for increase in internal storage for apps so i can install at least nano GApps?

Hi,
If you updated the ROM, then you also changed the kernel as the kernel comes with the ROM.
Try going back to full stock ROM, flashing via ODIN. This way, we can diagnose if it is hardware problem or software.

Does your device have a valid IMEI? If it doesn't, your efs partition may have been corrupted.
If it is still valid, it is likely that you are experiencing hardware failure. Switching between ROMs or Kernels will not help in this case. I'm afraid I am out of ideas other than replacing your device or buying a new motherboard.

Your IMEI is valid.
That last thing I can think of is to try this kernel (even though I said that changing might not make a difference):
[PhilZ-cwm6][i9100/P] Stock Kernel+CWM6+Root+exFAT+NTFS-MS3
If the issue still exists, you have a hardware problem.
