I just received my dock the other day, and tonight i was playing with key combos. Now my dumb a$$ lost the use of the touchpad on my dock.
Does anyone know what combo i hit to turn it off? And is there a list of all the dock shortcuts anywhere? The dock came with nothing.
Thanks

There is a button, its the fourth from the left on the top row (the shortcuts) that enables/disables the trackpad. Give that a try

Does anyone know of a mod to have the dialer rotate to landscape with the phone's orientation? The car mode dialer works but when in the desk dock I have to run the car mode manually. Lots of steps for something that should be simple, imo.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Dock mode and the locations app are the only way I know of other than running the express rom. It has full sense rotation and landscape lockscreen
Thanks. I'll take a look. At least it gives me a place to start.
I have galaxy tab 10.1 ICS 4.0.4 with keyboard/charging base. Are there apps that will work while docked? Notifications, Pictures, general things to display while docked? TIA!

I too have the keyboard/charging base device but not sure I understand your question? All of the these functions work correctly when docked. I know there are apps controlling programs when docked but don't know if Tab recognizes when docked.

Maybe that is my answer. What apps are "base" aware? I dock the tab, and I'd like to have the display do something informative/entertaining besides run dark.

Here's an update.
No "dock" application was working during my tests with the keyboard. In addition to the Samsung keyboard, I also have the multimedia "dock". As soon as I put the Tab in the multimedia dock, the night clock dock app kicks right off.
So it seems the KB is not considered a docking station.
I'm going to start looking for more apps that can be used with the MM dock.
Hope this help.
PS. Click Thanks if this was useful.
I'm using tasker to handle that for me. I just set up a task that launches a slideshow app whenever docked.

I'm curious to know if there is a way to show the "Dock Mode" app in the app drawer and/or create a shortcut?
I know the App exists on the phone (location: /system/app/VZW_Dock_Mode.apk ) and have looked for it in the App Drawer, by clicking on the Clock app (some older phones has a Desk/Dock mode in that app), and still can't get it working.
Using Tasker, I tried to get it to launch the app when plugged in, to no avail there. I even tried creating a "dummy" profile in Tasker that just launched the app at a specific time and no-go.
Anyone know if the app can be 'manually' run or do I just have to wait for the actual dock hardware to become available? (I'd actually like to activate it when on my Qi Charging mat at night...)
OK, I sort of figured this out...
First, I downloaded free App called "QuickShortcutMaker." Then, I long-pressed empty space on my homescreen and chose to add a "Shortcut" The very first icon says "Activities" Searched for "Dock" and chose the one called "HTC Dock Screen" Done.
Of interesting note, the Dock mode only stays in portrait mode for me... wonder if that means the docks for the DNA (if and when they are released) will only show the phone in portrait mode?

yeah, i noticed this too. ridiculous. every other HTC phone i've used with dock mode allows for portrait dock. ugh!
You can also find it through apex launcher repeating the same steps. It doesn't look to me like it's suppose to be a nightstand dock but rather an office type dock, I will investigate more

You mean they allowed both portrait and landscape and yes they did, however previous HTC devices (Rezound, Thunderbolt in particular) had the USB port on the left side of the phone, so I would envision that HTC will eventually release a dock so you can flip open the stupid little 'flap' on the bottom and set the DNA in portrait mode into the base. My wife has a Moto Razr Maxx and though the USB port is on the top of that phone, the dock for that phone is landscape and you have to slide the male dock connectors into the phone. (Sounds kinky)

Correct. I believe the Rezound (and I perhaps the Thunderbolt) had two non-car mode Dock apps... one was accessable via the Clock app (was called Desk Mode or something like that) which was more of a nighttime dock with the clock, and then when you put the phone in the HTC branded "Multimedia" docks, it would start the HTC Dock Screen. Unfortunately the DNA didn't have the Desk Mode option, and there are no Multimedia Docks out there for them yet.
I also noticed that you can actually use the "Tasker" app to initiate the HTC Dock Screen app, as they allow you to start Apps that don't show up in the App Drawer. Unfortunately, Tasker doesn't have any support for Qi Wireless Charging states, so I had to create a profile that starts the Dock Screen whenever the phone is being charged until the Tasker Devs add the Wireless Charging support.
Hello,
I found an App in Tab S4 called "Samsung Dex On/Off" as attached but I didn't found in my tablet.
Anyone can tell me how to install it?
Thanks
My guess is it's to enable/disable DeX Mode? If you don't have it, there should be a toggle in your Quick Settings Panel somewhere...
That app is part of the retail demo mode. I was looking for it myseld but have not been able to find it anywhre.
Yes. I also found that in Samsung Retail Shop but the salesperson didn't know how to get it. I try to find it in the web but nothing.

If you want to enable Dex, you should be able to find it and toggle it via the Quick settings Panel (see screenshot)
Thanks diehardbattery.
Yes. I use it to toggle the Dex Mode. But don't know why in the Dex Mode, No such Toggle in the Quick Setting Pane to let me back to the normal. I need to go to Setting, then put Dex Off.
That's why I want to use such App.

Gotcha. You might want to check for updates though. Because recently I noticed a new button in the lower left corner of the screen in DeX mode, with one of the options being to exit DeX Mode. I have an app called Desktop Hub which adds features to DeX, so I'm not sure if its that app doing it, or Samsung themselves that added it.

My tab has Dex v2.7.08.18 with the same "Exit DeX" button but not the Desktop Hub app.

My DeX Version is 2.6.79. It is the latest version. How can I got the update? My Tab 4S is LTE version.

I'm not 100% sure. Do you have the latest system updates? I believe that is how DeX is updated so I would check that first.

It's only for retail demo mode unit, but you can obtain a similar shortcut pointing to com.sec.android.desktopmode.uiservice.activityModeToggleActivity activity (by QuickShortcutmaker or other app)
Bad reviews for Desktop Hub app..

I mainly got it for the alternative start menu. It's better than stock but still somewhat awkward to use.. I don't remember what I paid for it as it was some time ago... but I don't think it was $10...
Icon Dexs
You Need to Download Activity Launcher from Play Store. Then You open the app, and go Recent Activities is in the top menu and touch the arrow in your right side. when you open, is going to be two options and touch ALL ACTIVITIES .
Wait for a few seconds is going to open all the apps is in your device. Scroll down and search for Samsung Dex and Touch Samsung Dex. Is going to open another Samsung Dex in the bottom. Press the Samsung Dex for a few seconds and going to launch a window with four options, touch the 2nd one. is going to say CREATE SHORTCUT. After that just follow the steps and is going to create a shortcut in your device.
Sorry for my bad writing in English and i hope you understand. and i hope this method help you.

I was wondering about the alternative start menu. It is one of the Pro functions - and yes, it is $10 now. I paid for Desktop Browser by the same developer, was a lot less and worth it. Do you think it is worth $10 for the Pro version?

I really haven't used it enough to give a recommendation one way or the other. But, I will say that if you want a more PC like interface for that, instead of a more Android like one that is stock, then yeah. However there might be other DeX addons or enhancements that I'm not aware of that could be cheaper...

I haven't found anything but Desktop Hub and DeX Max. And DeX MAX hasn't been updated in 18 months.
