I've been having a problem with my S3 (International, on 3UK bought from Tesco), possibly since rooting and installing Paranoid Android.
Much of the time, I get a good signal (3 or 4 bars) but don't have any data - I can get texts, calls etc but no internet. Apps try to get out (ie they don't immediately say 'Nope, no internet') but eventually just time out. Wifi is fine. It happens pretty reliably in certain places, but they're places where I've never had a problem before and other people in the same place on the same network have no problem. For example atm I've got my S3 next to my HTC Desire, also on 3, and the Desire is fine while the S3 won't get anything.
I've unrooted and returned to stock and there's no change (still can't get my counter back to 0 but that's probably a different issue). My APN settings are fine, and sometimes it works great - I stream Spotify at work pretty much all day, for example.
Going into and out of flight mode sometimes helps for a very short time. Sometimes.
Anyone got any ideas? I've seen this problem posted on Android forums quite often, but none of the solutions seem to help me. It's bugging me to the point where I'm going to have to get onto Tesco's support - it's all but unusable a lot of the time.

I've got an Optimus V, it is a very fair phone for the price, but I'm having real issues with 3G, I often have no Internet, but I should - usually have 3G connection but no Internet.
My battery life is also very poor compared to my other phones.
Both issues are making this phone less than useful. I did try the AOSP CM7 mod a couple of months ago, and while I was on it, I didn't get the Internet issue (just may not have happened), but I didn't stay on it long as there was no SWYPE support and I am really used to SWYPE now and cannot live without it, so I'm back to stock.
If anyone has any insight on how to repair the 3G connectivity or the battery life I would really appreciate it.
NOTE: I looked through several pages here and did see a couple of notes about the 3G connectivity but nothing on how to fix it.
Hmm, well I've noticed if I do NOTHING literally but a few texts and calls, my phone will last about a day with 3G turned on, now, if you already rooted your phone ( I presume you have) you can turn off the 3G. For me (cause I'm always texting the girls ) with the 3G turned off, I can be sending 1200 texts and I'll still have battery for the end of the day.
As for the no Internet issues, I have no suggestions but to just wait, it happened to me one time, and I waited a day and it was back up and running, so it must have been on Virgin Mobiles side of the network.
I have my I9300 few months so far and never had any issue with it. I'm with three network in UK and used many different custom ROMs and KERNELS, but usually stick with OMEGA and PHENOMENAL. Few weeks ago I've found that internet on my phone slow down. Also in my place, where I always had H+ good signal I have now only H. After couple of tests (speednet) it shows that I can go up to 10mbit/s so it was more less OK for H but normally I had between 12-15mbits. I was still able to catch H+ in different locations, but my speed with H+ dropped down to 500kbit/s (download) and with upload it was no connection at all (still had full bar H+).
I've changed ROM, KERNEL, MODEMS, went back to original, done 100s wipes and still the same. I've cleaned the phone, reset flash counter and sent to three to fix. I've just collected it from the shop and have a letter that they replaced some hardware and it's fix, but I'm not happy with it - in my place I can only connect to H, not H+ (my wife's S3, same network has H+ all the time). When I have H+ in some places, download speed is up to 2-3mbit/s and upload 2mbits, so still way to slow.
Does anyone experience any similar problem? Should I send it back to 3 for a fix?
The other issue I have is with my memory card and I've seen it around, so it's not only me. Had 2-3 cards so far and with JB it keep saying 'SD Card Removed Unexpectedly' or 'Preparing SD Card' or even 'SD Card Damaged' when wake up from deep sleep. This was second issue I asked for repair when I've sent my phone back to three for a fix. Guess what? It's still the same, happen again as soon as I've put my card back in. It's not the card fault, because I've already checked 3 cards with the same result.
So, I had two serious issues (I think) and few hours ago collected phone from the shop as a 'fixed' and problems still exist. What do you suggest, should I send it back for a fix? How to deal with them? Maybe it's only me and I should live with my issues?
For the signal issue, have you done a signal test with the carrier? Usually they have them on their website you can test the signal strength in your area. As well as are you city or rurally based? Because that can be an effect.
Maybe it is you from a freak or rare problem. If you can live with it depends on how much it would affect what you do. If you're by Wifi for the majority of your browsing or data using time it shouldn't be a problem, but if you're out and use it then maybe it might be an issue.
The problem is that I've always had great signal in most places around Liverpool incl the one I live now and my work. Now I have only 'H' speed and in some places, where I catch 'H+' ironically speed is worse. Other people with the same phone and the same network still have H+ in full speed.
I don't care when I'm at home, like you said, can always switch wifi on. Problem is when I go somewhere and want to use internet. It makes different, everything net related is slow.
I don't understand only how come they gave me my phone back with 'repaired' note, where the faults are still the same... Probably they just wiped everything, flash it with new official system (which was there anyway when I've sent them the phone) and sent it back to me.
i suggest you take it back to maintenance, may be a hardware issue.
Thanks, will do it and fingers crossed this time someone will fix it.. This will be second time with the same issue, with third one I should get new phone
OK, before I get too far along with this phone, I figured I'd inquire first before exchanging/replacing with a different phone.
I've had this phone for about 3 days now and it's not been bad. However, at least three times today, the phone has acted up. Basically it shows it has a good 4G signal (at least 4 bars) but anytime I attempt to make a call it instantly beeps/disconnects. If I wait, eventually the 4G icon will disappear (still showing decent signal). Wait a little longer and the phone will reboot but hang on the Android/T-Mobile screen. The only resolution is to remove the battery.
I am running Tel-Cel which runs on the T-Mobile network. Most of the time I get great reception and data transfers; these problems are completely random and at locations I have gotten decent service otherwise.
The only mods to the phone are some bloatware I disabled. However, I disabled this junk the day I received the phone and didn't have any problems until a couple days later...
Has anyone else had similar issues? Assuming the phone is good, the only things I can think of is if maybe there is some odd communication issues since it's not actually "T-Mobile". That or I did have to trim the SIM card and if maybe it's gotten damaged. Unfortunately I have no way of testing this as my old phone is still locked/for AT&T...
Hoping that someone here can help, or point me to a better forum for this type of problem. I'm starting here since my device is the i717.
I have the Galaxy Note i717. It has been rooted and running various roms over the past year. I have had no problems with my cell service, data or voice, in all that time. No wifi problems either. A few months ago, when Jelly Bean was released for the i717, I flashed it, completely stock, but still rooted. Worked great for me without any issues until a week ago.
So, I went on vacation, and everything worked great there, including wifi. I came back to work, and noticed that I did not have data service in our building. I did have voice/sms service though. Voice & SMS were tested and verified to be working. I rebooted the phone without luck. Cycled Airplane mode without luck. Pulled battery without luck. Turned data off, then rebooted, and turned it back on without luck. Needless to say, I have read about every hint I could find for data connection problems, and think I have tried them all.
Our office has an AT&T installed repeater system (not one of those little ones that you put in your house, but a true repeater, with equipment in our communication room, and with an antenna on the roof that connects with the main AT&T tower a few miles up the road. Antenna up the road is 4G-LTE, but our repeater is only HSPA+). In 3 years being in this building, I have not had any previous problems with my cellular connection through the repeater.
I went to lunch, and as soon as I left the building, emails started coming in. I had 4G-LTE again. Went back in building, and lost the mobile data connection again. I talked to a few other people in the building with AT&T phones (none have an i717), and they were working fine from the repeater.
Next, I re-flashed the phone with the stock ROM, still rooted and custom recovery, and still no luck. I flashed an old backup I had from when I ran ICS, no luck.
Now it was time for desperate measures. We rebooted the repeater antenna in our building, and still no luck. We have talked to AT&T, and of course, they are no help, and we can't get a tech to at least attempt to find out why only my phone has problems with their repeater.
Next, I got more desperate. I did a complete factory wipe/restore of my phone with odin, all the way back to the day like I took it out of the box. No root, no custom recovery. Still has the same problem with the repeater.
Now, I'm starting to think my phone is broke, except for the fact that I leave the building, and instantly connect up with the 4G-LTE tower. When I drive home, I have a few areas I go through that are only HSPA+, and I connect to those fine. It seems to only be a problem with the repeater here, but I don't understand why the other AT&T phones are able to connect without any problems.
I have tried 5 or 6 different modems (UCMD3, UVLG3, UCLF6, etc.).
My APN is the same as it always has been, but I did find a few others and tried them, and even though they worked outside the building, I would lose the mobile data connection as soon as I came in the building.
I also got with our companies "phone person", and they even set me up with a new SIM card, just in case something was flaking out on the original card, but no luck there either.
We have calls in with AT&T, but it has been a few days, and we can't be sure they are going to get a tech person to help or not. From the sounds of it, I won't count on it.
We do have wifi in the office, but it is restricted, so I generally do not connect to it, and just stay on my mobile connection for everything. But even if I do connect to the office wifi, I can't receive MMS messages, because they seem to only come in on the mobile data connection, even if wifi is connected to the internet. I tested this a couple of times, and I could not get my MMS until I went outside and connected to the tower 4G-LTE service, then they came right in.
So...what kind of help or direction can any of you give me? I'm up for suggestions, and will be happy to clarify any of the above.
I ran a log report (had a hell of a time figuring out how to get the logs from a JB phone, but found that CatLog is able to do it now). I was not able to interpret what I was seeing in the logs, but if someone knows how to read them, I can see if I can export them from CatLog, just let me know that you feel you can understand it, and I will send it to you.
I ran CatLog recording while the phone was without a mobile data connection, then cycled airplane mode, and watched it attempt to do a data connect and fail. That is when I stopped the log, so it should just be showing that info for the most part. I'm just wondering if the log shows something that I could throw at AT&T to get them to come look at the problem more.
Thanks everyone. Sorry such a long post, but I want to give as much detail as I could.
Butch
Turn off the repeater.
So I am quite sure that I've got a weird issue with my Redmi Note 2. To make it fast I will just list the issues.
Phone logs out of all networks (Wifi and mobile data at least every five minutes).
Sometimes it just 'decides' not to receive or send data, wheter it is connected to the internet or not.
Mobile data is never faster than E, even within my monthly data limit and in areas with high speed mobile data.
Is very slow at times (and crashes approx. once a day).
Does not react for some few seconds every now and then (makes typing impossible/remixes music...)
The main issue is the connection problem. My provider combines two mobile data networks, so that the phone thinks it is in roaming sometimes. Yet all of this was not a problem at the beginning. The connection issue just suddenly appeared (after I was on vacation and used roaming). Not sure, if there is a connection to that, though. I already asked a more tech savvy friend of mine, but got no solution out of that. So far I have tried:
Installing a new operating system (nothing changed eventhough that exact OS worked perfectly on the same phone my buddy had).
Googling the issue and try to play with the settings to get it working properly again (again nothing changed).
What I don't get is why such an issue would suddenly just arrive and that apparently nobody else had that same issue. I would be more than happy about any help I can get. Besides the issues I like the phone (and don't want to have to buy a new one).

Hi,
The same problem is on my phone. Due to this problem, I couldn't use the phone at all, I bought another phone. Now my device is in the drawer, no different from zero. I have tried various roms, including lineage, I changed wifi antenna as hardware. The problem continues. Is there a solution to the problem.
