Hello again, everyone. The last thread I had was about trying to get this phone on Cricket, which failed MISERABLY.
Not sure if it's the phone yet, but since the phone can accept a SIM/GSM card, I took a look at T-Mobile, already got the estimate for what my plan would cost, etc. I really don't want to buy another handset, especially after going through the four-day blundering around until I got a custom rom on this phone.
However, now that I know how to do it, I should be able to load Cyanogen on any device that is supported.
That being said, any users here have experience with T-Mobile? In theory, would the phone work after accepting the SIM card and getting programmed by T-Mobile?
I tried using Google, I tried searching for using this phone on T-Mobile, but found nothing helpful.

Ok, THIS time, the phone radio was updated. Apparently, I could not use internal storage. Silly me. Thanks for the new radio image, getting a G instead of an E on my internet!
But a quick google search reveals GPRS instead of EDGE. Is that progress? Changed to WCDMA preferred again, and still nothing with a 3 AND a G.

Not sure if this is important, but I switched to the Viper 2.2 ROM just to try it out (plus it supports DIAG) For some reason, when I load T-Mobile APNs on CM 10.1, it will hang on the boot screen for a REALLY long time.
Okay, got CM 10.1 working. Still working on EDGE. Going to try and reflash the radio to see if that works.
So it turns out the radio IMG hangs the boot. After it is loaded, cache will not mount in recovery mode.
Update: the bands are not supported by this phone.
LTE 700MHz; CDMA 2000 1x/EVDO Rev 0/A 800/1900MHz; UMTS/HSPA dual band (2100/900) and quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900)
Compared to the Optimus L9...
WCDMA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
And then I find the radio for the Google Nexus 4... And I think if I can set the phone's frequencies, it should work. Google Nexus 4 has UMTS/HSPA 2100. Just the CDMA won't be WCDMA.
Which bands are not supported?
Isn't UMTS/HSPA dual band (2100/900) 3g?
I'm headed to singapore where they use 2100 I believe so I'm curious about this (and the radio update). I have 1.53.06.0919 currently.

Unfortunately no...
The "ATT" note is carrier locked, and network locked as well.....not allowing the user to choose individual bands or frequencies.
To date, no rom or hack exists to truly unlock the ATT version for GSM only function....that I've ever found, and none of the play store apps will unlock the network either..
My last phone (HTC) would allow this switch on the network, but the samsung note will not..
But the International version of the note is unlocked for network switching between bands. ( I guess I should have got that one..LOL )
I too would love this feature, but it appears we are not going to get it.....g
Thank you for your reply. But i can use gsm only while i am using black star rom.
I think all official based rom could probably do it. *#2263# is the code to do it. But this code can only be used on official based rom.
On the contrary, cm 10 roms can use *#*#4636#*#* in which the gsm only mode is a fake one, i mean every time i click it, just switch back to wcdma preferred.

I want to root, flash cwm, unlock bootloader and start flashing some rom which I will try to figure out myself. I need help with LTE
I changed my APN to fast.t-mobile.com,but I don't see any LTE signal. All I keep getting is 4G. Not sure if this phone even gets a H+ ( keep in mind i'm still on stock LG) What other settings I need to use to activate my LTE on the APN?
If I'm going to flash a ROM most likely PA or AOKP would this affect anything for carrier? I don't wanna messed up something and relock my phone.

We have LTE in Phoenix AZ we had since it March 26,2013. Before the Optimus G. I was picking up LTE fine with my Motorola Atrix HD also with stock rom. I even flashed it with another rom. Still picking up LTE just fine. Of course I had to change APN to fast.t-mobile.com
Last night I rooted my Optimus G, unlocked bootloader and flash recovery. Wiped factory/reset, Wipe dalvik cache, flashed AOKP Rootbox JB 4.2, flashed Gapps w/ photosphere working, wipe dalvik cache. Success! Rom is great, no issues with it so far except LTE. I even downloaded LTE Settings from the Market no luck. All I get is H+
Do I need to flash a different radio or something? If I do can you or someone direct me to the right radio. Thanks
If I recalled tmobile uses band 4 for data speed. Optimus g does not. So no go I'm sorry. (1,3 and 5?) Does tmobile have actual lte yet? If so maybe modem may not support lte unless someone compiled one that does?

He's saying the modems that the Optimus G has do not run band 4. Therefore you won't get LTE if that is that band they run.

Either way, putting a different rom on it should do nothing to effect your carrier, aside from included APN's.

Do you get the refarmed 1900 Mhz 3G/H+ in your area?I believe the HSPA+ in my city is the non refarmed version, therefore Edge is the best I get, even after enabling network settings in build.prop (thanks! @id10terrordfw), and after playing around in the service menu. I can get it to connect to HSPA+ on a competitors' network (local carrier called West Central Wireless), and it shows the 4G icon in the top corner, but their network is either a joke (which I have a feeling is the case), or throttle the heck out of competitors' phones connecting to their network. Either way, I simply suspect that this phone just simply doesn't have the band that T-Mobile needs to get fast HSPA+ (or non-LTE 4G, as I like to call it).
I can go into my local T-Mobile store and run speed tests on their Nexus 4 and GS3 at any time and get around 12Mbps. Their GS3 shows 4G (which I know is not the LTE 4G, and their Nexus 4 shows H+).
I've read from various forums members that flashing the Nexus 4 modem is a no-no, but I don't understand that if this hardware is identical to a Nexus 4, why can't we enable/flash support for the band we need. I haven't been out of town to a market that has true T-Mobile LTE to test it, but @STravers says it works, so I don't see any reason not to believe it.

So, the Verizon S4 is the model named SCH-I545 and it comes with a sim slot, right? Besides, it comes Internationally Unlocked, so it can be used on GSM networks around the world, correct?
Just one more question, does it work on the 850MHz Band for 3G?
I'm thinking on buying one also! Thanks!
I brought the vzw s4 back to india.. but its not working with either vodafone or airtel GSM.
After rooting and installing apn manager and titanium pro I was able to get the data working but that too only 3g.

Can aI9505 modem be iinstalled using Odin which will make the gsm modem primary and CDMA secondary and allow gsm use for voice and SMS. Please help.

Straight from Sammy.
"Frequencies and Data Type:
LTE: Bands 4/13
CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev.A: 800/1900MHz
HSPA+/UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz"
I am using my i545 in both CDMA and GSM networks. Didn't try HDSPA, but EVDO Rev.A and even Rev.B, and GSM with EDGE - working properly without problems. Switching between networks - is in the Settings. My phone is connected to two different operators at the same time - to CDMA and GSM.

Reboot the phone and let the phone register on the network. The APN should be in the phone database. In case its not, which would be impossible with a stock rom, you can enter it, and be sure to SAVE it.
Right now I'm using the phone apn I have rebooted the phone many times I actually would like to know when I put it to only lyrics in the phone info menu it still shows as hspa

HSPA = 3G/4G Kind of strongest signal available.
On TouchWiz firmware:
E=2g
3g=3g
4g=hspa
4g lte= lte the strongest signal.
Aosp:
E=2g
3g=3g
H=hspa
4g= lte
disable lte

Actually it is possible you can dial *#*#4636#*#* and set the model to only to wcdma /GSM in the phone info option

Okay guys I have this problem with my Atrix 4G. It's usually on NottachTrix 2.0.0 or 1.9.0 since 2.3.0 was giving me weird errors. The problems I am having are that I have a strong signal of 4-5 bars and then either after an idle or just by watching it sometimes the signal degrades and eventually it's greyed out with a little x over it and it stays like that indefinitely. I've tried turning the wifi on and off, the GPS on and off, I've done a factory reset. I've repeatedly flashed the radios. 30, 36, 37, and the sbf of OLY_ATT_01.97.00R. I've done it with the sim in and out, with the sd in and out fixed permissions. " And I still have the issue of the signal either being completely off, or just degrading. I'm using this on T-Mobile but when I search for providers all it shows is AT&T and when I go to About Phone -> Status I consistently have between 90-120dBm under signal. What am I doing/not doing right?

i'm not knowledgeable about this issue, but based off of what you said, you're using ATT radios on a T Mobile network. perhaps a T Mobile radio would work? if i'm wrong with this statement, then i am and i'll admit it, but thats what i would try.

Im not sure that's how it works since the radio wasn't designed for this phone. Oh and it was working before and kinda worms if I reboot the phone but it still degrades

I always flash through CWM except for the 00R radio. And I just tried the other radios on the internet from the internationals to the UK to all US radios, still no luck at all. Is this a SIM issue or is my phone SOL?

i think i need to back track here and ask if you unlocked it so it is capable of running on different carriers. next would be did you set up the correct service settings like the vpn and stuff. and have you tried flashing, via fastboot or cwm, any t mobile radios?

Does this phone even have T-Mobile radios? I've flashed Via CWM, I am bootloader unlocked and SIM unlocked I have no clue what a VPN is but the APN comes with the phone I think.

lol apn is what i meant, not vpn, my bad. but yes, do you have the T Mobile apn info set up so it should work? and this phone was never made available for T Mobile, so it doesn't have any T Mobile radios. you would have to look for T Mobile radios to do what i was talking about trying out

What T-Mobile radios do I look for? Isn't each radio made specifically for each phone? And When I catch signal it does work.

ok its hardware issue. below is a paragraph about a different device that might point you in the right direction
"Did u follow the guide on XDA forums? They have the original guide for unlocking AWS bandwidth for ATT note 2 so that it could work on T-Mobile 4G.
If you flashed it correctly your phone should virtually pick up tmobile 4g any where you go.
Unless you live in a rural area that is."
it would be a hardware issue that should be able to be fixed using whatever was used in the case above. it may be about the note 2, but they did ask about other devices, so i would think it might work

From What I was reading, that method was for phones that have T-Mobile Variants that just have the 1700 Band blocked. Tmobile reps say it's probably a SIM issue which I'm hoping it is so I don't find out I have to buy a new atrix. But if its Software I'd love to be able to fix it now and get it over with.
