How to get the MSL??????? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

So obtaining the MSL on a samsung device is pretty straight forward most of the time..on Sprint devices we usually use the getprop ril.MSL command..this method works by entering the MSL incorrectly 1st....Verizon is normally all zero's..but its not on the VZW S4..and the big problem is the device doesnt require an MSL to access data menu's..soooo I cant use the getprop ril.MSL command
The MSL is used to reprogram NAM settings
Im trying to figure out how to get the phone to ask for the MSL so I can then enter it wrong so I can then use the getprop ril.MSL command to retrieve the correct MSL
Any ideas?

How do you get to the data menus in the first place? I've tried the usual codes and I don't see any of them working.

+1 I can't get to the data menus either. How do you do it.

Okay, so I did a little digging and found this:
http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-t...aws-bands-on-att-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337sgh-i337m/
Now, the kicker is that since our hidden menus aren't enabled, and the enabler code isn't the same as the Galaxy S3 as posted below, dialing the code won't pull up the screen as on the tutorial above:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...unlocking-jelly-bean-service-modes-found.html
However, we can resort to some additional trickery. I installed the Market app called QuickShortcutMaker. With that app, one can create a shortcut to an activity, specifically for the phoneutil.apk listed in the first tutorial after it is installed. The activity we want to make a shortcut to that is equivalent to the menu shown by dialing *#7284# is:
Code:
com.sec.android.app.phoneutil.SetPortUartUsbMSM8960
With that, it should give access to the Samsung COM Port we can use with whatever utility can read the MSL on Samsung phones. If I find one that works, I will post again.
Edit 1: It seems that the mode should be set to DM + Modem + ADB to get the modem working under QPST. The RNDIS + DM + MODEM mode errors out in QPST.
---------- Post added at 10:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 PM ----------
Okay, so I used CDMA Workshop v2.7.0 (google it) and I input SPC 000000 and it worked fine for me on my Verizon Galaxy S4, so either OP is on Sprint or another carrier or someone else set the SPC on his phone.
It seems like OP posted using a Sprint phone, but he seems to think Verizon S4's have a different SPC/MSL other than 000000, which doesn't seem to be the case.
Edit 2: I retried the RNDIS + DM + MODEM mode and it seems to load fine on QPST also, might've been that I needed to unplug/replug the phone USB cable. For that matter, QPST also acknowledges SPC/MSL code as 000000 on VZW GS4. The version I found (QPST 2.7 build 402) detects the chipset, but stops responding when reading the Service Programming data.

Thanks for the reply, I do have a sprint s4 and I already flashed it 2 vzw prepaid..my brother in LA has the vzw s4 and based on what u said I think what happend is he changed the MEID 1st and restarted l the phone and I think it changed his MSL..maybe he can revert back to the original and get the stock MSL..ill comfirm when he responds back to me..but for my original question lets assume he's stuck with the new MSL..how would we go about getting the MSL? on all the devices ive used the getprop ril.MSL command on, Ive always had to 1st enter the MSL wrong but since the programming menus on this phone dont ask for it im stuck as to how to get the getprop ril.MSL command to work?
Edit: just got my hands on it and thats exactly what it was..SPC changes once u tamper with the MEID, reverted back 2 stock and reset the phone and voila, back 2 zeros, full flash in no time

I knew something funky was up I was going to try a memory dump in QPST to see if it was visible like on an LG Optimus Elite I tinked with a while ago, but QPST insists the phone isn't in download mode, and when it prompts to switch it over, it hangs and says the phone stopped responding to commands, or just reboots the phone and does not place it in download mode.
Edit 1: You can read NV item 85 using CDMA Workshop v.2.7.0 -- that contains the MSL, however, you'll also need to know the 16 digit password to be able to read it.
Edit 2: A bit more googling found a 16 digit password that works for my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 -- it is: 2009031920090615 (it is also the password for the i535) You can retrieve protected NVM items after inputting this password AND the SPC code.
Edit 3: Nice, once I had input the 16 digit code into CDMA workshop and opened up QPST service programming, it enables reading of the service information there too! Seems like the lack of a correct 16 digit password being sent is what was 'locking' it. Presumably newer versions of QPST will ask for the 16 digit code in addition to the SPC.
Unfortunately, because you don't know the SPC code, even knowing the 16 digit password is not enough to get the SPC from NVM item 85, as I said earlier, you have to know both. Presumably there is another way of getting it... I tried to read the memory from the S4 with just the 16 digit code set and it doesn't seem to work.

Because it is relevant to the discussion, I figured out how to enable the hidden menus on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4. See here for details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303905
This makes it a bit easier... no shortcut trickery needed to get to the *#7284# menu. After enabling the hidden menus, just dialing the code will work.
I'm still not aware of a way to get the MSL/SPC if it is unknown, however. Perhaps someone else can figure this out.

i need URGENT help

i flashed my p4000 to the new rom, and my pst info cleared, which i have written down, but when i go to enter the new info in, it asks me for a unlock code...
in all the tuts i read it never told me how to check it or anything i dont know what the unlock code would be, i also bought it used, anyone know?
i cant use my phone until i fix this, and i really need my phone tonight.
Unlock code for the SIM or the phone? I presume theres nothing on your device till now, why not hard-reset or upgrade to another ROM?
Regards,
Carty..
htc p4000 have no sim cards.
im doing the ##778 to get into the PST menu, then when i try to edit it, to input my #, it asks me for an unlock code... :S
have you tried all 0s or 123456 or your phone number?
yes i tried a couple.
000000
123456
654321
i havnt changed the code...anyone know how to change it through an app or the default code?

If it's anything like sprint, then a simple call to your carrier should remedy the problem. with sprint it's called an "MSL" and they give it to you when programming your phone. So if you call and tell them that you need to 'reprogram' your phone, they should walk you through the steps along with giving you the code.
if i reflash it with the nueROM v2 build 5022, its a sprint rom...so that would mean i could use the 000000 as the unlock code?
also, after flashing to the new roms, my phone continually reset...would go on for a minute then reset... thats why i went back to my default rom, but now its asking for an unlock code >.>
Unzip this to your phone. Take your battery off and write down your Hex ESN. Run GetSPC.exe. Type your Hex ESN in the first box. The second box will be your unlock code.
*edit - removed file, missing keygen and someone linked to it on the next page.
k ill try that out, thank you.
any reason why my phone would be constantly reseting after installing the new roms?
k.
my EST is
but when i type that in, its saying "could not link to dll"
?
If I were you I would edit that post and remove that ESN # ASAP, people can use that to steal your service.

you might try the program found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1541466 (it's the program called GetSPC)
i tried it on my phone and it provided an MSL number. hafta admit, tho - the MSL it gave me didn't work (and it differs from the MSL i have written down for my phone).
i might also suggest that you SEARCH...it's what I did to find the above. you might also try calling your carrier and ask them what the unlock code is.
OH -- use a HEX version of the ESN, and use ALL CAPS for any letters in the HEX version. It still may provide you with an invalid MSL...but worth a shot.
Make sure you are using the correct number for ESN, just converting the number from the back of your phone to hex will not work. Click program settings and device information on the bottom it will say ESN followed by a 8 digit hex number..that is the hex esn, you then put that in GetSPC and it will give you your 6 digit master unlock code. Dial ##6digitcodeSEND and it will open up to a place with 2 settings that can be changed, enter your 10 digit phone number for these two settings.
If you still can't get it, call Telus & tell them you can't make any calls, they will walk you thru the reprogramming process.

Don't know why it didn't work, it's the exact same program. The only thing I took out was the PPC 2003 version so you wouldn't run that by mistake.
*edit - just downloaded it & it's missing the keygen. I don't know how that happened, sorry. I would've just linked to the original but I couldn't remember where I'd gotten it initially.

EPST Unlock Code

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie, but a fairly tech-savvy newbie. I recently upgraded to a Mogul ( from a Treo 650 ) and after a bit of prevaricating, decided to upgrade the ROM. I've been researching all over this forum and PPCGeeks ( when they're up, at least ) and thought I had everything worked out about exactly what to do.
0 ) I wrote down the MSID, MDN, A-Key, and ran a program called GetSPC.
1 ) I unlocked the phone ( Olipro 2.40 )
2 ) I flashed the rom to DCD 2.2.6
briefly got stuck here, until I figured I needed to reset the phone to get back into the bootloader screen
3 ) I flashed the new radio.
4 ) After a bit of experimenting, I decided to try NeuROM, as it had more goodies on it. The .rar only had a single program, a .nbh file. ( unlike the DCD with the ROMupdateUtility.exe ) Further research led me to believe that I could move the .nbh file onto a Fat32 formatted microSD card and reset, and it would flash that rom. It seemed to work.
Now I have full access to everything, but the phone will not dial or anything. I typed in ##778# and tried to hit 'edit' and it pops up a screen demanding an unlock code, which I assumed was the six digit code I got from step 0, running GetSPC. That code doesn't work at all. Have I done something terribly wrong? Should I have not installed NeuROM with the microSD? I'm about to try to restore everything to factory settings and perhaps try again, but I'd really like to know where I went wrong. Any ideas? Thank you all for your great work here, and I appreciate any help you can provide.
when you ran GetSPC did you type in the ESN of your phone making sure to capitalize the letters? Try and run it again capitalizing the letters and make sure you type in the ESN exact.
Your issue could be that when you entered your hex code into GetSPC you did not capitalize, it will change the code.
guess I am late...
Wow, thanks for the very prompt response. I do believe that I did not capitalize the Hexadecimal number. I will try that.
EDIT
Yep, that did the trick. Thank you so much for your quick replies. Sheesh, Monday night and I get three replies within three minutes of posting. Ok, memo to myself; Hex code must always be capitalized.

There is'nt one 6 digit code for every phone, each phone has it's unique 6 digit code.
Maybe I'm thinking of something different, but it was my understanding that the EPST unlock code was 000000 for everyone (unless changed through QPST or something).
Depends on your carrier. Verizon and Cellcom (small carrier I am with) use 000000. Sprint uses a piece of software (GetSPL) that generates a random 6 digit MSL code based on your phone's ESN. That is why sprint users need GetSPL. I am not sure of other carriers. We should start a thread that looks like the following....
MSL Unlock Code
Verizon = 000000
Cellcom = 000000
Sprint = (Use GetSPL)
Alltel = ??????
AT&T = ??????
Feel free to fill in the blanks if you are with these (or other carriers)
Ok, thank you for clearing that up. I'm on US Cellular and its 000000.
i always use the registry setting/log file method to get the SPC codes, since GetSPC hasn't ever worked for me. do a search for it on this site; it's easy
mine is a Quest XV6800 and it was locked with a random six digit code

then i used CDMA Workshop to write the SPC/MSL to 000000. i got that program from a forum somewhere, just Google for it
Hi guys,
I used the tools which is attached. I found it in another website. Probably someone share it before. (NET CF must be installed)
Anyway it works great, it gave an unlock code even my ESN was 0000000.
Good luck!

ROM Update went terribly wrong!!! please help

Hello all,
Last night, I tried updating my Rom on a sprint mogul to the recent dcd 2.2.6 and 3.27 radio.
I followed the steps of taking down the information, finding my unlock code, unlocking, and updating both roms.
It went with no problems. However my MSID was reset so i had to enter my unlock code that i got from get spc. before i reflashed my device, i checked to see if the code worked by trying to enter and edit epst.
But in windows 6.1 the unlock code didnt work, my msid and mdn were set to all 0.
I called sprint they gave me the same unlock code that didnt work.
So i tried reflashing back to the original sprint official release, that didnt work, i was getting an error 328 from the ruu.
I tried reflashing again dcd 2.2.6 rom, that worked but the radio wouldnt flash due to the same invalid command error 328 from the ruu.
So for a while i was stuck on the htc splash screen with a no radio display. I found a thread with a solution to the same problem. I flashed the leaked sprint rom 3.16, that worked and i was able to get up and running.
However in epst mode my hex and dec esn are all zeros. my original unlock code doesnt work, (the one from sprint), but when i enter in all 0 in getspc it generates the proper unlock code,
but i still can not connect to the sprint network even tho i am able to set my msid and msn to the correct values, my esn is still wrong (displays all zeros)
Can any please tell me if i can fix this, I was on the phone with sprint for 2 hrs with no avail. I need to set my esn on the phone to match my esn in hardware
Thank you,
Kevin
Okay, if I read your post right you do have your MSL number (unlock code) right? If you do, go to your keypad on the phone and dial ##3282# (##DATA#). It should ask you if you want to view or edit. Choose edit and type in your MSL number. On the main screen there should be an option on the left softkey that says "View Info". Choose that and then select "Advanced". At the top I believe you can edit your ESN number.
Hope that helps.

I do have my unlock code. the ##data# shows the esn in advanced settings, but the box is greyed out and will not allow me to edit it.
It still shows 00000000.
Thank you, any other ideas, maybe a registy edit?
It sounds like something happened during the flash process. I talked to a PCS rep and they said you would have to bring it in and get it swapped. I can't think on any other way to get that info updated. Sorry.
no there is another way, you can sniff for the spc, the original thread about getspc had directions @ ppcgeeks

I went to a sprint tech and they said they i had to replace the phone, and they would order me a new one. but right now i have to wait the warehouse doesnt have any instock.
there is another way however, if it was erased by software, it can be changed by software.
I did not find anything relevant on the link above, i will keep looking through it. If someone could point me in a closer direction.
I do have my unlock code, currently all zeros, so im not looking to get my MSL number, im looking to change my ESN back to what it was, somehow it was set to all 0's during the rom update process.
Thank you,
Kevin
Perhaps you should change the thread title to something more specific to separate yourself from the masses who can't boot because they didn't upgrade their radio.
Perhaps try an RTN reset? This is a hard reset that erases provisioning data. I don't know if it can restore an ESN, but worth a try.

The phone needs to have the unlocker program run to install a custom rom. The code from GetSPC allows you to edit the settings not unlock your phone.

Look i dont need any smart comments.
Well actually for your information, the MSL code is used to unlock your phone. the unlocker program is used to unlock your bootloader to accept a custom rom.
MSL - master subsidy lock, this locks network settings so that a user can not change them, the code given by getspc is stored in nV ram on the phone and is used to gain access to these files, thus "unlocking" the phone. unlocking the bootloader is another story...
anywho, i was able to get my phone working, i reprogrammed my esn, reprogrammed my MSL from all zeros to the proper value, and now my phone is back on the sprint network.
if you guys are interested i will write a tutorial on how i did this, just to respond to the other post, a hard reset does not restore esn data.
Good for you! I'm glad you figured it out. I would be interested on how you got it working again.

This would be a handy bit of knowledge as they go thru great lengths to keep it from being done. Ususally the filesystem for that section of the phone is locked and protected, requiring the QXDM (Qualcomm Extensible Diagnostic Monitor) software to get in. I have an older version that I used to use to play with older phones and it worked great, but a newer one would be needed for these phones. Old style glitch corruption will mess up any filesystem and even mess up protected areas, which is likely what happened to yours. I would love to know how you did it without QXDM ;-)Thanks.

Krazeintentz,
I would be very interested in your final fix for this problem. The exact same thing happened to me a while back and my only way out at the time was a replacement titan under warranty from vzw.
If we had your steps to recovery then we would be a lot closer to having a disaster recovery wiki.
As another poster said, yours was a real rom flashing problem as opposed to the numerous "brick" cases that we see everyday from just half done flashes. So it makes it all the more relevant that we have a wiki for this problem.
Regards
Since he has not said, heres a theory
The filesystem is protected from editing in the address range where the ESN resides. The QXDM software shows the actual file structure of the chipsets flash and the files have actual attributes and the ESN file is read only, so the EPST is not supposed to be able to edit the ESN (as this would be cloneing a phone and not legal). If you follow the steps in a flash memory update, you would see that the contents of these protected files are read, saved, and then the flash is totally erased, then written with the new revision, and finally the protected storage is written and the attribute is set to read only. The QXDM is required to manually unlock these attributes, but there is a key that allows the flash utility to erase the stuff. if the flash was interrupted either by hardware or software error at the point after the erase and writeback but before the write of protected file area, the ESN would be blank and also the EPST in the phone would be able to edit it in edit mode because the attribute is the very last thing written. I bet thats how he fixed it and now has a cloneable phone too and can change his ESN any time he wants, at least until he flashes the radio again which will fix the glitch by process. Thats probably what he did.
Hey guys Im a noob and im having a bit of problems

Corrupted ESN. Errors when flashing ROMS. UPDATE: Phone is fixed

I upgraded my new 6800 yesterday using the directions Here.
I upgraded to Olipro 2.40, CDMA Radio 3.42.02 , and DCD Titans 3.20 ROM. The upgrade went smooth enough. I was unable to use my 1GB microSD card but I was able to use USB. When I was finished I installed the verizon carrier cab. I called *228 to program my phone. Programming failed and it failed because my ESN was now set to all zeros. I attempted to reset the ESN using CDMA workshop and the instructions in the troubleshooting section of the wiki. It failed and now CDMA workshop is unable to access my ESN at all. See my previous post. When CDMA workshop reads from the phone it pulls all the info except for the ESN and the Number fields . It says ':: Failed ::" in the phone information box on the left for both of those fields. It also gives me an error "Cant read EFS" when I try to pull up the phones setting using ESF. It is like some portions of the phone are now locked (or deleted).
I decided to try to flash back to the original stock ROM and I am unable to do so. I am unable to reflash my bootloader, the radio, or the DCD ROM. I cant do it using the microSD and when I try doing it via USB I get an Error 328, Invalid Command. My phone boots fine but I cant change any of the ROMS. I can also see all my phones programming settings using ##3424, using CDMA workshop, and QPST) but I am unable to change any of them. It is like my phone is partially locked.
My current bootloader says
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40.Olipro
CPLD-9
and during startup it says:
M 09
B03
P DCAAXAM-4350H
R 3.42.30
D 3.20
Since I cant access the ESN to change it, my phone is not usable. Can anyone help me reset my esn to the correct value? Any suggestions on what to try myself or do I need to send it to someone with the correct tools? or is my phone beyond repair? If you need additional information, I can provide that as well. Thanks.
I'm looking into it for you. Give me a little.

Thank you very much for any assistance you can give me.
Have you tried ##778 enter 000000 for the unlock code. Use edit. Just a thought, we may be talking about 2 different things.

I did try that but when I had EPST in edit mode, I could only change a few of the values and the ESN was not one of them.
I was able to fix my phone. I tried to re-flash my phone again back to stock but this time I tried it using my laptop. I still could not get the microSD method to work but USB did work this time. When I was finished, my esn was reset again to all zeros (previously it had been a mix of my real esn and zeros like 35782000). I ran CDMA workshop again and this time the change from all zeros to the correct ESN was successful. My phone also activated successfully using *228.

HTC Rezound on Pageplus : Guide

Ok folks. If you are like me, you searched all over the web didnt find a definitive answer on how to go about getting your HTC rezound to Pageplus.
I bought a used Rezound. It came with NO Verizon SIM card. No software updates to it. I read a lot, sounded like getting to the latest stock was a good idea as it usually fixes issues. Well, I promptly updated to the leaked global ICS rom. Go the rom from android police dated Aug 15.
So my rezound had locked stock global ICS rom, no SIM card. Here is how i flashed it to pageplus. Please follow the steps as mentioned, as i have stumbled too many times and got it working.
================================
Not a must but...
1. Dont upgrade your phone to ICS rom if you dont want to root your phone. As ICS blocks APN updates. Meaning if you need 3g on pageplus or any other carrier and you dont want to root your phone, dont upgrade. If you dont mind rooting your phone, you can just ignore this warning.
Requirements:
MIN and MDN Information:
You can get MIN and MDN by calling pageplus or follow steps below.
goto http://www.kittywireless.com/pageplus/phonestatusform.html
right at the bottom you can enter email and phone number. You will get an email with MIN and MDN information.
OS Requirement:
Windows 7 64bit or 32bit. No support for Linux, Mac or XP(??).
Software you will need:
1. HTC Sync http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-rezound-verizon/software-updates.
2. HTC Diag drivers. You can download from below.
3. QPST. http://conflipper.com/Software/QPST_2.7_366.rar
4. CDMA Workshop. You need the full version. Demo is not useful. There is an old 2.7 cracked version floating around in the web. That will do the job.
Steps to follow:
1. Install HTC Sync. This software will install HTC Sync and HTC Drivers. All you are looking for is HTC Drivers. So, as soon as installation is complete you can uninstall HTC Sync alone. They have seperate uninstallers.
2. Install HTC Diag drivers. Now, i hope you have access to Windows 7. These drivers didnt install in XP for me. it could work for you.
This step is crucial, without these drivers installed you wont be able to do anything.
i. Connect your phone to PC.
ii. Just leave it on charge mode. The HTC drivers you installed in previous step should recognize the phone.
iii. Goto the dialer in phone. dial ##3424. press call. This should put the phone in DM mode.
iv. Win 7 will try to find the drivers and fail. If you open the device manager (or short cut just run devmgmt.msc), you should see the
2 devices with no drivers. HTC DIAG and HTC DIAG 9K.
v. double click on HTC Diag and click upgrade drivers. You need to manually upgrade the drivers..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697487 This guide does a very good job. I dont want to repeat it. You can look at it if you are stuck. Just look at the driver installation part alone.
vi. Just ignore the HTC Diag 9k for now.
3. You have done a major step already. (I got stuck on step 2 for quiet sometime.). Install cdma workshop(CDMAWS). This software will trip anti-virus software(AV). So, just turn-off AV( or add CDMAWS in your AV's exclusion list). Apparently CDMAWS does use the virus technique to work but it is not malicious.
i. connect the phone to PC and dial ##3424 for DM mode. Find out which COM port your phone is using to connect.
ii. start CDMAWS. Select the COM port you phone uses. click connect. These should be in the topline of the GUI.
iii. if you are connected. The status bar at the bottom of window should indicate it. If everything is fine, click read(it should be next to connect/disconnect button). If everything is working so far, lots of empty spaces will be populated with data.
iv. switch to the Security tab. look for a spc button. enter "000000" in the text box above it(dont include quotes). This is the password for EPST. click spc -> spc send. you should see a pop-up saying phone unlocked. (if you are using this guide for Sprint phones, you need to obtain this password). Verizon just leaves it unlocked.
v. goto 'other' tab. look for RU-IM. click on the drop-down box. Select "NV-only". This option will be present only in full version.
vi. if you have not downloaded the attachment on this post, do it now. Now focus your attention on PRL box in the same tab as in step v.
PRL stands for preferred raoming list. I have attached 2 prl files. For me the 51720-evdo.prl gave roaming sign. I used 52711.prl, it worked fine. Click on write and choose 52711.prl from you download directory. It should write, the information to your phone.
vii. next switch to NAM tab. Enter the MIN you got from the email you got from kitty wireless (link is provided above). You can also get that info from pageplus by calling. MDN is nothing but your cell number. Enter that in dir or directory text box. click write.
4. you are done with CDMAWS. you can reboot your phone. At this point, if you havent changed ESN with pageplus do so now. You can do ESN change through online chat at pageplus website. It is free.
5. If you see roaming sign on your rezound, you need to use a different PRL. Roaming is indicated by a small triangle above the signal bars. start CDMAWS and select a different PRL file to write to your phone(steps 3(i) - 3(vi)). If everything is fine, from you rezound, call *22890 to program your phone. You can also use *22801 to program. if after a short pause it says unable to program your phone. It failed to program. Make sure you followed all the steps. If after a long pause it says unable to program. you have succeeded in getting the phone registered with pageplus. Now you should have your phone working for Voice and SMS/texting.
6. Take a deep breath and pat yourself, you have achieved a major step. Now to program 3g part. As i said before, if you are having locked stock ICS rom, you wont be able to go further. ICS doesn't let changing APNs. GB is fine with changing APNs. I havent rooted my ICS. i am just happy with a working Voice and SMS for my needs. Wifi satisfies my need.
7. Fire up QPST configuration.
i. Click on "Add New Port..." Select the port your device is on. It should be same as in CDMAWS.
ii. On the next screen highlight your device.
iii. Click on "Start Clients--Service Programming"
iv. Click 'Read From phone" When the prompt pops up click "OK"
v. Now tab over to "M.IP"
vi. In the drop down below that says simple ip+Mobi change that to "Simple IP"
vii. Now double click on "Profile 2"
viii.In the "NAI" section put your phone [email protected]
ix. In the "tetheredNAI" section put your phone [email protected]
x. For the IP Address put 255 all the way across for the last two sections and leave the 0's in the first section and Click OK
xi. Now click on "PPP config"
xii. Click "Um"
xiii. In the box that says "User ID", Enter your phone [email protected]
xiv. Click in the box that says "Tethered NAI", Enter your phone [email protected]
xv. Click in the box that says "Password", Enter "vzw"
xvi. Click the "AN" tab, User ID is your phone [email protected] and Password is "vzw"
xvii. Click "write to phone"
8. Power your phone down then reboot it.
9. i. Connect to wifi
ii. Open market
iii. Search for "APN Backup and Restore" and install. If you have GB, this will work on it own. Now if you have a rooted ICS, you can use Titanium Backup pro to run this system app. ICS allows system apps to modify APNs.
iv. Open APN and click Backup APN's
v. Now put your phone in "airplane mode"
vi. Click "delete apn's"
vii. Click "restore apn"
viii. Select page plus apn from below
ix. Disable Airplane Mode
x. Reboot
And thats it your fully flashed with MMS, Talk, Text, 3G
Credit goes to lots of folks. Mainly to Nevell, techwerkz, folks at howard forums and scores of others who are not mentioned.
Hope this helps a few folks.

I got 3G data working on stock ICS 4.0.3.605.1
To make it work you need to write all necessary settings to the 9K port as well. The tricky part is that QPST will not work and you have to use full paid version of CDMA Workshop or DFS (free version is ok) instead.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 of javamaan's guide for port 9k and use DFS for step 7.
Go to Programming/Data. Fill all fields in PAP, PPP, HDR AN, HDR AN Long and HDR AN PPP boxes. Set HDR SCP force AT config to RevA_MFPA. Uncheck eHRPD enabled. Go to Mobile IP and set NAI to [email protected].
When writing, make sure that it actually writes the data. Enable full logging and see if green "nv item written ok" messages appear. Ignore offline-d errors.
For more detailed instructions, see this cricket flashing guide.
You also need to have any sim card inserted to enable Mobile network Off/On switch in settings and get rid of the annoying message on the lock screen.
APN settings have no effect in CDMA mode. I've never touched APN menu and data works just fine.
The only thing it might be necessary is MMS, but I've never bothered to set it up.
Hello all,
For the life of me, I can't get sms or 3g to work. I've gone over this tutorial over and backwards and even did the cricket tut.
My rezound is on GB. I downgraded it with the official, stock, OTA or what ever you want to call it GB. I'm rooted but not custom ROM. I just got rid of the bloatware.
I have PPC service. Thanks, that part was great! There is a "write" line missing in the RU IM part, but I figured it out. Voice and simple text work but no sms. I even copied my wife's apn from her cell, but still, no go.
OK, done with my rant. Just had to let it out. So my steps:
in QPST - wrote everything to 8K as stated above, to the "t"
-I did come up with an error, but checked it in DFS and everything was there.
in DFS - wrote everything to 9k as stated above, to the "t"
Found the apn file from another thread because it is missing in this one. Did a restore, and.....nothing.
Found the apn settings from another site and entered it in manually......nothing.
Copied my wife's apn settings...nothing.
Made myself a drink...at least I have a good buzz going...check my phone...nothing...DOHHH!
What do I do now???
Cheers!

As already mentioned above, forget about the APNs! They are not used for CDMA mode (except MMS). Until you have 3G data, just leave the default VZWINTERNET APN as it is.
You don't need to downgrade to GingerBread. I've done everything on ICS 4.0.3.605.1, but 4.0.3.605.2 should work as well.
Make sure you've actually written everything to both ports. Especially 9K port. Read back and check if all values are there (except passwords that can't be read). Read PRL and make sure that version is 51720.
Post your screenshots of DFS after you read the data (NAM/PRL, Data and MobileIP pages).
OK, I wrote the prl over again and opened up DFS and wrote to nam1 and nam2.
Well, I was able to get it to work. I put ics back on, updated to one of the newer prl's and put a sim chip. I'm not sure what did the trick, but my bet is on the chip. note* I used an old at&t sim chip that I had laying around. I still get the warning on the lock scene, but that doesn't bother me. Thanks again to those who made these tuts.
Cheers
Im getting close to getting my Rez up on PP,... (deleted)
EDIT: Thanks so much for this thread, Im well on my way, with a few bumps along the way while I learn the software and phone. was stuck at step 5 til I realized you did the programming and dont need the #22890. with or w/o my new sim, I can make & receive calls/texts. Im barred from the ota programming by the phone.
Now I'm figuring out qpst as to why it doesnt show profile 2, just a single profile (0). So I dont know if I should modify that profile 0... And I need to get rid of the error message re the 4g activation. So i'm a little ways from having any data functioning... going to bed, sleepy and cross-eyed...
"Activating your phone..."
In the lock screen, how do you remove the irritating "Activating your phone..." message. I have everything working except MMS, but I don't care about it, I just want the stupid notification gone.
I also have an LTE card installed. I had remotesquaD flash it for me...

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and first thing I want to do is thank everyone for their time and effort of putting the useful information on this forum! Also thanks to javamaan, I have been able to activate my HTC Rezound (previously on Verizon) on PagePlus. I have the following working: Talk, TXT, MMS, and 1X data. But no matter what I do, (spent over a week on this now, no kidding) I can't get 3G working.
I have the original Verizon 4GLTE sim card installed.
I am S-OFF, rooted, running leaked android 4.0.3 (4.03.605.3). (QPST is only good for 8K port)
I use mostly CDMAWS 3.8.7 demo and DFS 4.0.0.5 to manipulate data.
I write same data values to 8K and 9K ports, to NAM1 and NAM2.
Could it have something to do with HA and AAA shared secret values? some say leave it blank, some say 'vzw' (in hex), some say need to get those off of a donor phone.....
Could it be that when writing any passwords in DFS for 9K port they don't seem to showup/stick?
Thank you!

I never could get *228xx activation to work. Just filled all data manually.
You can try to insert some other sim card, like AT&T or whatever. It just wants to have something in the slot.
@ Wileywold:
Step 5 is just if you get the triangle by the signal bars. *228 in any form will give you that error. I followed yura's directions and programmed for the mms and 3g using DFS.
@ snpiee:
On my phone HA is 300 and AAA is 2. Like you, I don't know if that has anything to do with programming or not. I've tried different prls and still can't get 3g to show up. I'm also stuck on 1x.

You definitely don't need a donor phone. As I recall, I did "vzw". Actually, all that Mobile IP NAI stuff is not used if "Simple IP only" is selected.
Also, someone suggested to do a software reset with 4G SIM inside after writing all values. Not sure if it really helps, but you can try.

Passwords don't show up when I read back after writing, so this is OK.
Check PRL version and other stuff.

Oh, I thought you finally got 3G... I will go make my DFS screenshots now, so we can compare.
I just updated my prl to 52874 hoping it would point my Rez to 3g towers. Well, I'm still on 1x.
Screenshots of 9K port. I've highlighted some important items.
I finally got it. I wrote to both 8K and 9K ports and NAM1 and NAM2. All values were the same. My prl is the most recent verizon from my area, which is 52874. Here are the screen shots.
Thanks again to yura and javamaan for their hard work!

You got 3G working now? I will compare your values to mine when I get home today....
Thanks for posting DFS screenshots!
By the way in your pics you use PrefMobileIP not SimpleIP is that correct?

Thanks for kindly sharing help here! I continue to tinker with this by lurking here and (after success with voice/texts/1x data) I'm now working on getting the 3g operating, and the dfs screen shots are very helpful. I want to upload a few for someone to see, and point me closer to my goal. Ive tried to imitate yours, but im running dfs 3.1.xxx and there are a few differences in the location of items, and labeled a bit different. I had to guess at one of the places to insert the dun info since it didnt show quite the same layout of lines/descriptions.For example, PAP has an extra line called data, while the PPP section has 1 less line , so I tried the dun line in that PAP section.
I'm very close to having this thing DONE and I never would have gotten here without great tutors right here!
BTW, What do you use to get the great screen shots to insert here in the forum?
