Hey Guys,
I want to have my LEDs to be always on when some notification come in.
The normal behaviour is blinking until you unlock the device and check the notification, but i want it stay on insteand of
blinking.
Light Manager quite does the job but i dont want an extra app for only enableing this. Is there a path to a file
where i can simply change the blink duration to 0 or something like this ?
Cheers

What ROM you on? If it's prior to 4.2.2 you could use JKay MOD?
Im currently on 4.1.2 Stock FW. and also rooted.
Never heard of JKAY Mod before and dont want to flash any other ROM cause of the features i use
in the stock FW.
But probably i will try out PA.
back to topic: is there any way for me to get the LEDs turned on the whole time instead of blinking ?

JKay is a framework, not a ROM. It basically just opens up a whole load of super-useful settings.. the dev describes it as Settings as Samsung should have made them.
Wouldn't know how to do it manually, sorry.
alright then.
i will try out JKay Mod and see if this will work.
can you explain me how to get the LEDs to behave the way i want with this mod ?

As we all know, the sgs2 doesn't have notification leds. However, we do have leds under the menu and back buttons. I was wondering if anyone knows of any app that takes advantage of this. I want to use the menu and back button led as a notification led. Periodically flashing would be extremely helpful. I know there is NoLed on the market but that isn't the most elegant solution. Perhaps even using camera flash on minimum minimum brightness could be doable.
You need BLN for that. (Back Light Notification)
1- You have to flash BLN compatible kernel for that. For example- Ninphetamine.
2- You need to have liblights.zip installed. You can find it from Jame Bond thread.
3- You need to install BLN Control Pro for that, free version wont work for Missed calls and stock SMS/MMS app.
4- If you want notification for stock SMS/MMS app then you have to install 'Light Flow Lite' from market.
I was recently using it with that kernel, but I don't like that kernel at all.
Besides flashing too many things for just a simple light notification is very kiddish. Got rid of BLN and back to CF. No intention of getting it unless it start supports all kernels.
Regards.
Im running the villainROM 2.4.2 with ninphetamine kernal and XXKG6 installed.downloading the BLN app from the market you get that.

Has anyone noticed the red light that appears at the top of the phone next to the front camera and sensor? I've only really noticed it once the phone has been fully charged.
Perhaps this could be used to indicate a notification, assuming there isn't an app that already uses this light?
Lol, thats the Proximity sensor taking effect dude.
Sent from GT-I9100
Well whatever it is, could it not be used as a notification indicator if it hasn't already been?
Sent from my GT-I9100
No sir, it can only be used in a call when you put your phone near your face/ear it helps to turn off the screen.
Regards.
Wait, so that really is an led light?! I've never seen it go off, it would be sweet to have a red notification led, just like my old Blackberry... BLN works okay for now, though is is NOWHERE as bright as the led on the blackberries.
I started using NoLED, coming from a Desire I was a bit disappointed. I like NoLED but I'm concerned about the impact it has on battery even though I have mine set to 1% brightness and I rather have the standard icons on screen rather than the custom icons to be honest.

Wooaaa.....
why such hassle?
i thought android suppose to be the smarted OS. :-(
back when i was using symbian, light signal plus, a simple app can make softhey LED lit up.
i was hoping theres a widget or app in android that can do the same thing.
rooting or flashing for such small function seems overkill. :-(

Android is the smartest OS but it isn't the simplest one. And as an user, not a dev, I don't like that too.
I also remember about Light Signal Plus when I had 5800XM.

(i haven't looked deep enough, or found any leads)
i have been wondering, since the majority of Samsung phones lack a notification light, would it be possible to or get an app to make the menu/back button to light up when a notification has been received/(while the screen is off of course) to make up for this loss?
if there is an app/mod for this please lead me too it

Yes, it's called BLN, or Back Light Notifications. It's been around for a long time, actually.
To use it, flash a kernel that supports BLN. Most custom ROMs here have said kernels. Or if you don't want to flash custom ROM, just flash the kernel.
Then, download the BLN app from the market, and enable it from there.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass for the moment.
Hello,
I've searched for a solution to turn off the LED bar for quite some time, but all the solutions via apps like LEDs-U-CTRL or uninstalling the sony.illumination.service package or removing the /system/apps/SemcIllumination.apk or the terminal commands from this thread don't work for me. Maybe because I've flashed the FXP152... The two packages don't exist.
Is there any other way to disable the LEDs? What versions of FXP support disabling the LEDs?
Thanks in advance!
yes u can disable ..

In FXP 210a the LED bar is finally completely off. Thanks to that my phone used only 2% of battery in the last 11 hours. Well... without using the phone much (sleeping for about 7 hours) and Wifi off. The Governor at "on demand" set to 200-400 MHz. :cyclops:
(of cause the LED bar will still blink at a custom frequency with a custom color when I get a message.)
btw: When the LED was always on the percentage went down every few minutes... It almost halves the duration of the battery when using the phone all day.
*Don't mind me reporting how things were progressing*

bro you know how turn off illumination bar of xperia u permanent, without apps? please tell me
Use illumination bar notification app (search urself) and on choosing the color of the theme of that app, don't slide non of the red, green and blue and then, save it. That's how.
P.S: That app didn't even use root access so you better give it a try

I don't know... I have something in mind, but it also could cause, that no led works at all or even that the phone won't boot anymore... So I don't even want to try it. (deleting the file /system/lib/hw/lights.montblanc.so)
As Little Zed said, you should try it with an app like screenfilter or the illumination bar notification app.
If you try out newer Roms like KitKat, then you also have an option to disable the LED but, I don't know if it will both disable the small LED on the top right and the LED bar... But this is something you might want to test.
ps: in the current KitKat Rom the LED bar won't work, you'd have to replace the above mentioned file with the one from CM10.1.

The pulse notification light in settings refers to the top right light and not to the LED bar However yuo can enable it flashing a package.
Read the second post of brigio345 in this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...28466&page=120 .
i have cm9 and the LED Bar ist just lighting up, when my battery is almost dead. and the top LED is lighting excactly like the Bar, but i just want the top LED to work. is there any possible way?
I recently installed UNOFFICIAL 4.3 ROM for Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. Had some issues. The phone wasnt charging but it seems like its charging now. And why are all the leds on ? the blue, red and green LEDs are on and have no idea why
Are we supposed to guess which rom you are using...?
If we know what rom, what recovery, any additional mods or themes, and what the last official version of the software were you using then we could start trying to point you in the right direction.
Also I'm not quite clear on what you mean by all the LEDs are on? I thought there was just one notification LED light on it? Or is it flashing various colors?

I solved the LED problem. Just disabled something in the settings and its all good now.
I want to switch off my charging LED, indeed I'd like to switch off the LED completely. My phone is rooted and I've been trying out apps, but so far I haven't found a single one that can do the job. Can anyone please recommend an app or a method of simply killing the charging LED? Thanks.
Use a ROM that allows custom colour for charging and notification.
Select black as the colour.
Works with teamUB I've seen the colour selection options in quite a few ROMs. I don't know about stock though.
Thanks. But changing ROM seems like a serious overkill! I really do want to stay with the stock ROM (and to be able to receive the imminent over-the-air Lollipop update). Is a change of ROM really the only way to do it?

then rooting and unlocked bootloader is not for you.. stick a bit of electric tape over the led
Your sarcasm notwithstanding (and I actually DID stick tape over the LED for a while!), I've found a solution:
Using an app called "Light Flow", running it in "Direct mode", and setting its sleep time settings for all day, I've managed to kill the LED dead. Job done
