[Q] Volume Down Button Broken - How to Recover? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, as the title states, my volume down button is broken.
I can however begin the RSD protocol by using the volume up button upon booting.
Am I SOL or is there a way I can access recovery without my volume down button? I'm running a stock rom.

If you're rooted, you can try
Code:
adb reboot recovery

Bootloop!!!!!
Directly from the NB's ICS OP
NOTE: If you get in boot loop during first install, DONT panic.
Remove battery. Hold Vol Down + Home + Power Key. You will enter new recovery mode. Flash the ROM again.
Some users (having Froyo Bootloader) need to press Vol Up Key instead of Home Key to get in Recovery.

should i press the keys after removing and putting the battery again?
Try a few combos. You ultimately want to get back into recovery mode to reflash.
what are the comboos please help me '
Combos to get into recovery:
1. Gingerbread Boot loader: Vol Down + Home + Power Key (That's what neo's OP says) or Volume Down + Power Button (Elsewhere I've heard that combo, so try both. Can't test myself because I have Froyo Boot loader and running MIUI)
2. Froyo Boot loader: Both Volume Keys + Power Button
Ultimately you can enter download mode and use Odin to flash to stock. You can enter download mode using Power+Vol.Up

or as soon as the loop shuts off screen and is about to start again ( black screen followed by vibrant) quickly press up and down volume and hook usb cable up...( you can be already pressing up and down) works like a charm for me....have fallen into that boot loop thing once to many times....but theres always time for once more lol...

[Q] Flashed new ROM without emptying cache. Can't enter recovery mode. HELP

Hi all
I have used search and I can find results that pertain to other devices but not specifically Galaxy S3 (I9300).
I've been trying to flash a new ROM onto my phone.
To do this:
- I rooted the phone using Odin and installed CF Root + CWM package.
- After doing this, I did the 3 button reset to enter Recovery mode. However, the phone always entered into Download Mode (Odin Mode / "Downloading... Do not turn off target !!"). I was never able to enter Recovery mode.
- So I couldn't use the Recovery mode to install the ROM.
- Instead, I used ROM Manager to do the install (Cyanogen 9) but I did this without clearing the cache.
The result:
- Now if I leave the phone to boot, it enters Cyanogen 9 boot screen but stuck here looping.
- if I try to enter recovery mode to clear the cache, it only gives me download screen.
I've tried a few different uploads to get recovery mode (and it successfully uploads the files I send using Odin) however the phone still enters download mode after the flash.
I'm worried about doing the wrong steps if I follow advice from other sub-forums relating to other devices.
Any tips?
Many thanks.

The three button reset is power button + Home + Volume up to enter into recovery..
You are going to Download mode because you are pressing Power button + Home + Volume down key ...
Read this guide
Recovery mode is volume up while pressing home and then power.
Try this first and see if you can access recovery, if not then flash Philz recovery via odin and then boot into it to clear data, cache etc.
Make sure you read and understand how to use both odin and recovery before you start, otherwise you can brick your phone.

Thanks MoonBlade.
Funnily, I was pressing power + home + volume down to get download mode.
I tried pressing power + home + volume up, which successfully got me into recovery mode.
Strangely reversed.
This seems to have resolved the problem.

[Q]How to enter recovery mode in lenovo a5000?
Hello everyone
I have a lenovo a5000 device all i need now is to know how to enter recovery mode.
Here's What i tried and the Results:
1-Power button + Volume+ & Volume- at The same time
RESULT:
Phone doesn't even start up at all no vibration nothing
2-Power button + Volume-
Result:
Phone either Reboots Or Hangs on boot screen of course with no result
3-Power button + Volume+
RESULT:
This is actually The only thing I tried that actually gave me a result it boots to a dark screen where there is three options
Recovery mode
Fastboot mode
Normal mode
And it asks me to move between options using volume + and to use volume - as an ok
However i can navigate between the options using the volume button but i can't enter any of the modes by pressing volume down or power button either with long press or fast press nothing works so please tell me an answer for this
P.s(I have twrp flashed in the device and i can access it and the recovery mode using quick boot app but anyway recovery mode was still not opening before installing twrp)

Finally i have got the answer for my problem:
For anyone that have the same problem like me The buttons are these for recovery mode
Click power button + both volume buttons for 4 seconds then it normally won't open yet the trick is that afyer the 4 secs you leave the power button and still click on th volume buttons for another five seconds it will start with logo keep yoilur fingers ob the volume buttons and voila here's the recovery menu
Please Admin close the thread
Thanks buddy my situation is the same and your solution worked to me

j320fn safe mode stuck, but when i press vol down + home + power download mode is on

tried reflashing firmware didnt work, always turns on in safe mode, is there any way to disable it? root it and through commands of adb? or without rooting it? its a pain in ass, i opened it up the buttons clicks,it should work but noo.. volume key down is not working when i press in safe mode, only volume up is working. But when phone is off i can enter the menu which requires combination of volume down + home + pwr, so i assume volume down is registering as working, but not when i boot up os.so anyway to bypass safe mood? i could root it then adb, as loong as it doesnt need for google play access cause thats not possible
Tried reflashing all sofware including bl ap .. And so its still nothing,
My thoughts can i root it through kindgoroot and somehow edit the hardware buttons .conf file so it would not work at all and will bot be registered as pushed down?

Question How to get into safe mode from power off state?

I know how to get to safe mode when booted in android, but what button combos do it from an off state?
I've tried holding power down until I see the boot logo then waiting 3 seconds, then holding down the volume down key. This just puts me in fastboot menu

moto g power - Power Up in Safe Mode | Verizon
Here's how to boot your moto g power into Safe Mode to help determine if an app is causing it to freeze, reset or run slowly.

That doesn't seem to work on the 2021 model, although it would be quite convenient if it did.
Really I was dealing with a magisk bootloop. So here are the steps I did in order get into safe mode while retaining magisk root to remove modules.
I couldn't find a way to enter safe boot with the physical buttons. What worked for me is flashing the stock boot.img entering the os, long holding the onscreen "Power Off" button until prompted to boot into safe mode (this queues safe mode for next boot).
It's important to enter fastboot (hold volume and power down while the restart for safe boot is occurring) before entering safe boot mode to reflash magisk's patched boot.img. Then finally reboot into android's safe mode. In safe mode you can finally issue:
Code:
adb shell magisk --remove-modules
