Same with me. It freezes and crashes way too often. I've just started using the gmail app itself. Works just fine for me, but for those who's email isn't at gmail it's a pain as there really aren't any good alternatives that I've seen anyways. I'm sure with the update in the coming month, it'll be fixed I hope!
This happen with my gmail account. The Gmail app works fine but the Email app keeps freezing when it tries ti load the email body.

Yup, I've had the same since the beginning of time... although I have noticed that it seems to only do it (or at least more often) when I'm on a WiFi connection, rather than through a 3G Data connection...
Hey all,
I recently upgraded to ICS on my samsung galaxy SII using KIES. Since the update i cannot get the stock e-mail client to show my hotmail e-mails as read on other devices.
For example, when on GB if i read an e-mail on the phone while i was out, and then checked my e-mail on my computer when i got back home. The e-mail would show as read on both devices.
But since ICS the e-mail only shows as read on the phone, is there any way to change the settings so that it works the same as it did on GB?
All other e-mail/calender/contact syncing works correctly as does sending/recieving and deleting e-mails. It is only the read massages that seems to be an issue.
My phone is not rooted and is XEU model running 4.0.3 XLPS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I had the same problem using email configured through Samsung sns.
I ended up using the exchange (push) option during setup. Once setup, goto menu / settings / tap your account / scroll down to "in case of conflict......" and change to "....... update to server"
Works for me.

Thank you for your suggestion UpInTheAir, i have tried this on my phone but i am still getting the same results :-( Do you have any other ideas?
I haven't used K9 email from Google Play since Froyo days on the HTC. You could check it out and see if that's working. The only other thing I can come up with is trying another firmware or custom ROM.
Ok, just rechecked myself. Seems to be intermittent!
I had some showing up as thread as well. I increased from 3 days to 1 month sync andlet it reload the app inbox, selected the first unread and refreshed my html email.worked, showing the previous unread message as read. Now I read another unread and or doesn't work. When back to 3 days sync and didn't work.
Bummer, just wonder if this is for just hotmail account or other. Will have to search XDA and Google to see about this bug, surely the question had been asked somewhere before?
Edit : tried a couple of modded email apks but no good.
Tried official Hotmail app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hotmail.Z7
Any changes to inbox seem to work and will show up on the Web inbox within a few minutes. Emptying the trash folder doesn't sync with the server though. Also don't know if it's a battery hog and causes wakelocks etc. yet.

But of course you'll need root
Hey guys,I come from Xperia play forums and one of my family members bought an s2 that I set up,and updated to ICS but now its having bad email problems...
Up until today, the stock email app was receiving email just fine from a company server that deletes them whenever they are downloaded. Now,the widget is showing the latest mails, but you cant open them,it jumps to mails from last wednesday and stays there. Do you have any Idea how I can fix this? Its kinda urgent since some important emails are stored on the phone.Btw there is nothing in trash.

Click to collapse
You should delete the email account and re-create it.
Check all settings for receiving mails from the server.
And check settings in EMail app.
You can define the time period for which you want to receive/display the mails.
Good luck !
After the OTA update the links in emails no longer work. I use K9 email client .
Anyone see the same thing? A fix anyone?
Also had a weird problem where long pressing a keyboard key would get both the primary and secondary characters.

I just tested, failed here too. It looks like it tries to open the page in the email message or something weird.
I don't know if I ever tried it before on this phone before the update ...
Works for me. Did your App Associations get messed up?
The web url app association is still internet.
I disabled the stock mail app and replaced it with K9. Did you guys do that or not?

i did not disable the stock app... just turned off notifications.
links work fine in my other apps such as txt messages and handcent...
Is there any way to force the GMail app to download email as soon as it arrives, rather than waiting for me to go into the app and look at it, and wait for it to download at that point? The standard behaviour is a waste of my time!

It does download emails fully when autosync is enabled. Sometimes going into the app doesn't load the mail immediately and it looks like it's downloading, but you'll see that if you go back once and return to the mail it loads immediately. That's a bit annoying, but it's not downloading the mail only when you view it, that's for sure. If you're asking about Gmail delivering push emails without autosync enabled, then that's not possible. It has always needed autosync to be enabled to receive push emails, otherwise you have to go manually and refresh to see new mails. I wish that Gmail could deliver mails without autosync, like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenge, but it can't right now.
