LY-F1/Allwinner A10/Versus Touchpad 7 Bricked? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, i'm only really posting this out of desperation, I'm at my absolute wit's end with this tablet and i honestly can't suss out what's wrong with it anymore
I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20032494&postcount=2 to try and install CWM and it worked, CWM is running and uses 6.0.12 i believe the version is without looking.
UNFORTUNATELY now i can't access anything via CWM, i can't mount, open or format any of the internal stuff like system, cache, log, emmc ect. I've tried reflashing different versions of CWM with no success via ADB, they just quite simply don't seem to be taking hold no matter how many times i reboot or reflash and also i can't boot into the OS anymore, which really sucks since it won't accept anything i try flash to it.
Now here's the real slap in the testes, The original firmware recovery seems to be now gone meaning i can't put the device into software update or firmware recovery or anything to try flashing with Livesuit, i'm sure there's something i'm missing somewhere can anybody help? Livesuit definately detects SOMETHING is going on when i hold the volume buttons and hammer the power button, my system beeps and LiveSuit pops up, but it only displays a blank error message which i'll take a screenie of, from there it refuses to do anything else.
I've also tried using USBDeview or whatever it's called to remove every trace of a driver related to anything remotely Android and gone that route but no luck again.
I've looked into and read (and re-re-re-re-read) every single post i can find about this but the threads have either gone or died out
EDIT - Another quick think i forgot to mention was that if i try to view the partitions or hardware info via ADB i get extremely limited info back which i'll post in as well when i get chance

[Q] Well, I can still use my Vibrant as a phone, but only a phone

OK. I'm one of the unlucky that used ROM Manager to try to partition my external sd card when, in fact, it partitioned my internal storage.
However, I can't seem to clearly find someone else who has my exact same condition. I had just flashed Eugene's Vibrant8 and installed the paid version of ROM Manager when I messed my phone up this way.
Now, my phone will still boot up into Vibrant8, but each time it boots up, it's like the ROM resets itself. In other words, I have to enter all my gmail info...Anything I had put on my desktop is gone...and basically it looks like it does the first time I installed the ROM.
I can make phone calls and everything that is there seems to work OK. However, I can't install any apps from the Market as it tells me there is not enough space on my phone. When I go to "Settings/SD card and phone storage", it says that I have over 14GB of phone storage, but at the very bottom under "Application Storage - Available space" it says '0.00B'. This of course, coupled with the constantly resetting ROM, is annoying.
I should also mention that I am unable to enter download mode through the hardware as has been documented by many people in this forum (I have tried every which way but loose). I can enter downloader through adb on my laptop, but Odin loses connection as soon as I do.
Has anyone else encountered this situation? I think the solution will be when some genius on the forum figures out how all of us who can't enter downloader through any of the hardware means mentioned on here are suddenly able to. Any insight is very appreciated.

This is in the wrong section, should be in Q&A... but you should probably use ODIN and the corresponding files to go back to stock, and make sure you check the box in ODIN that says "RE-PARTITION", then re-root your phone and blah blah blah haha. every thing you need should be here sir . Next time post in Q&A please.
Odin, Odin, Odin.

Thanks for the responses. Still searching.
Thanks everyone for their replies. I am sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I have thoroughly read all of the threads about ways to fix my problem. My main issue seems to be that I cannot use Odin because I cannot get into downloader using the various button combinations suggested (including battery/no battery, sim card/no sim card, no sdcard, etc..). The only way I can get my particular phone into downloader is through adb which is installed on my laptop. When I hook up my phone via usb to my laptop, Odin recognizes my phone, but as soon as enter downloader through adb, Odin loses connection. I'm guessing the only way for Odin to recognize my phone while in downloader is through the hardware entry method - Has anyone had success with Odin recognizing their phone when entering downloader through adb? If so, this could also be key for me.
None of the codes on talkandroid.com worked, but I will keep searching to see if there additional codes somewhere in the forums.
I have the same problem on my home computer... I have to call up one of 2 buddies to use their computer when I mess up too bad... just switch to a different computer and see if that helps..
I know it sucks to have to make a new friend just to borrow their computer...
here is what I do for adb.
1: start odin up and load the files needed for the flash ( pit and tar ) but dont hit start yet.
2: Now launch adb and type - adb reboot download
3: Now go back to oden and your phone should be listed.. If it is hit start and it should flash fine.
Thats how I do it anyways.

I made a prog to make these code menu's easy access: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772690
As for the OP just keep reading and trying things. I got in to download mode by shutting down the phone and while it is shutting down hold the vup and vdown buttons.
Worked!

This worked! Thank you so much. I thought I was doing this, but there must have been something off with the order that I was doing things. Back to normal. Thanks again and thanks to everyone for trying to help. Former G1 owner, now on Vibrant.
Not a problem at all I am just glad I actully helped

[Q] Bricked Locked Tablet, Tried nvflash to no avail

I recently bricked my tablet after having it rooted for a very long time...a Samsung-issued update apparently screwed with something crucial.
Anyway, I tried the nvflash recovery methods as mentioned in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574
However, it seems that I have what they called a "locked" tablet. I get the 0x4 error he mentions and absolutely nothing happens when I send the command in nvflash.
Is there any update on this recovery method with locked tabs? I tried seeking paid services where they hook up devices to a JTAG and whatnot, but I've only seen that for the original Galaxy and not the 10.1--if you have any information about that route, that would help too.
Thanks!
you can try flashing a old rom if you can thats what i did and it worked for me

The thing is I can't flash to different ROMs or even get the Tablet to boot up into download mode...
go to recovery mode
I can't get into recovery mode too. All of the partitions are screwed, and the only way of reviving this device is by flash through the NVidia Recovery Console (nvflash). The thing is, my device is one of the lucky ones that are locked..Thus, it requires a special key to unlock it before I can do anything in nvflash.
I have no idea if this would work, but you could try it ...
A few months ago I was flashing a ROM on a friends phone and something went wrong, the phone wouldn't even boot up any more, the screen stayed blank all the time, no matter which combination of buttons I pressed of how long I held them down for. ODIN didn't recognise it being connected to the PC etc... nothing worked.
Then I tried hooking the phone to the PC again and tried to do something with adb. And somehow, the phone was connected on adb. Tried an adb restart-to-download command and after a minute or two, the phone booted up and I could flash through ODIN again.
I have no idea why it worked, but it did ... lucky me .
So while I doubt it will work, it might still be worth a try. And if adb connects in any way you could maybe figure what was wrong and somehow fix it?
I also heard about some phones being locked out in a similar way and a procedure in the lines of "take the battery out, hold down 3 buttons, slide the battery in WHILE STILL HOLDING the buttons" worked, maybe there's something similarly "hidden" on the tab?
I hope you find your answer!

[Q] Help... Stuck in recovery :(

So here is the deal, i went to flash a new ROM last night. I usually do everything on my phone as my computer does not normally recognize my USB for some reason, but anyways, i tried flashing last night and the flash failed. and i have no back ups nor can i plug in a USB and transfer anything to my "sd" portion of my phone because it does not work. Oh and when i go back to stock (Factory reset), when i try to boot into system. It just shoves me back into recovery mode, someone please help. I'm usually pretty good with this stuff and if i don't know a quick Google search is sufficient. But i have found nothing. This is my last resort.
FYI: I believe it failed because my recovery is an old version, I'm using team win recovery touch. not sure if that changes anything

Well u need to get something on the phone to flash. I suggest you work on the usb issue or get a micro sd reader.
Well the "sd" card is the integrated one i cant remove. And i have tried fixing the usb but nothings seems to remedy it. Very rarely i can get it to work but it will stop working the next time i try to plug it in. I have a ROM i can flash, but the recovery fails to flash it every single time, even after clean install. im fairly sure its my recovery that wont let me flash the rom but i also cant update that till i figure out how to at least get the phone to a homescreen. I honestly dont know much about odin but it looks like i may be able to try and flash it there, is this correct?

[Q][HELP] Huawei g730-u251 insanity

Hello, XDA forumites!
I've been lurking and reading a lot of threads in here for years, using all your knowledge to fix various phones. Today though is the day I first post and it is for good reason. I'm a guy who loves challenges but this one is making me go insane. I've spend the last two days looking for ways to fix this phone but NOTHING works.
So, the deal is that this phone turns on fine. It boots, it gets to the lockscreen and... it restarts itself. Again and again and again until the battery is removed. To fix it, I've tried the following:
- recovering/updating it through the Huawei official "firmware" supplied by the site: you put the file they supply on an SD card, inside a folder named "dload" and then hold vol up and down along with the power button to make the phone install the contents of that file, named UPDATE.APP. Needless to say it doesn't work. A menu appears with the options reboot system now, apply update from sdcard, apply update from cache, wipe/data factory reset, wipe cache partition and calibrate touch screen. Trying to apply update from sdcard only lets me browse the SD looking for the file but doesn't actually see the file itself, it just shows the dload folder empty (I've tried with 4 different versions of the file compatible with phones from Central America which is where I am ATM). Also, the factory reset does nothing (although it shows it wipes data), everything's there when I start the phone up.
- flashing it with SD Flash Tool: apparently partially works with the last version 3 of the tool (although nothing changes) while version 5 of SDFT doesn't even see the phone (drivers are correctly installed, adb detects it, more on this later). A problem that arises is that I can't flash the SEC_RO package on it (don't know why) nor the PRELOADER (not that one is supposed to normally, but I feel like it would fix my problem in this case).
- cleaning it in safe mode: booting it in safe mode made me notice that it was an app pretending to be Whatsapp causing the restarts (or, perhaps, the one that loads immediately after? The phone has several malware apps). In safe mode those apps didn't load so the phone stayed on. So I cleaned everything, activated USB debugging (for later use in adb mode) and restarted only to find everything as it was before I did the cleanup. I tried rooting it in safemode, cleaning again, still reverts to full "normality" after the restart. Same results when using the phone's proprietary SW HiSuite.
- installing CWM's recovery img through adb+fastboot: I installed all the possible - necessary or unnecessary - drivers (Google's, phone's official ones, PDANet ones) and the phone is correctly detected by the PC (visible in Device Manager) and is visible through the adb devices command. But as soon as I adb reboot bootloader it to fastload the CWM image, the phone stops being seen correctly and doesn't show up in fastboot devices, only showing "NEW: SAFE OLD:RISK" on a black background on its screen.
So, to recap: the phone restarts because of a malware at startup, reverts any and all changes made to it in safemode, doesn't wipe from the recovery menu, apparently has a corrupted bootloader and is impervious to normal flashing SW... Anyone got any more ideas on how to deal with it? The only option left that comes to mind is to fix it directly by flashing the internal memory using JTAG/RIFF but I don't have the equipment (nor do I intend to buy it).
Bump, hoping for some help...
One more bump, still stuck
First, don't get happy: I have no answer to your problem. Sorry. But I have a similar one. I was running a very efficient, rooted, stock ROM G730-U251, until I decided to switch from 'Ninjamorph Free' to 'Pro'. I've been made a lot of changes with Free version for a long time without any issues at all. Then, one day, when making a small, useless change with 'Pro', something went wrong; phone just rebooted and refused to get past bootanimation. With no custom recovery on hand, only solution for this is to flash ROM. Though I had no problem finding the official, stock UPDATE.APP, which flashed smoothly from the SD card to be fair. Mess came when, once flashed, I decided to install OTA update available, which I overlooked since phone was new. Big, BIG mistake. It just came with more restrictions than ever, letting me root, yes, but this time with 'Kingroot' only (as stock, I had no problem rooting with Framaroot) but soon discovered I wasn't able to use 'Super-Sume', 'Adaway' and 'Link2SD', because some system parts now CAN'T be mounted rw, even using ES File Explorer. To avoid any complication, decided to reflash UPDATE.APP just as I did before. No way I can do it this time. Don't know exactly why, but assuming it's not possible to update with a previous version of the 'same' ROM. So now I'm looking for a flashable stock ROM in order to try SP flash tool. Phone is in working state right now (not as yours), but I just don't feel comfortable with it as it is right now, because those apps are always the main reason why I actually root every single of my devices and simply because I like to have my stuff as my own way as possible. You know, truth is there's not much of an advanced support for this phone, not even here at XDA and I think that's because this is a Latin America version. We owners of G730-U251 devices are pretty much on our own, to say the least. Whatever, if the whole deal gets more complicated than it is, there's a strong possibility for me to end up getting rid of this phone. Sad. Really. It's actually a good phone. Though it WAS better...

Wogiz WX40 not working properly after flash with "stock" rom.

I only want my Wogiz WX40 to work properly again. It somehow got into a booting loop and I spent many hours figuring out how to flash it due to drivers acting unexpectedly, incorrect instructions for my device and so on.
I finally got it to flash with stock software I got from needrom using SP Flash Tool. However 1) none of the bottom keys work now and 2) it looks as if the resolution is set too high for the device and I think there is also some slowness when using the phone. I have tried clicking upgrade firmware and formatting the entire flash and using different versions of the software and the result is always the same - the bottom keys not working in particular makes it unusable. I tried downloading the stock rom from another location but after downloading it said I needed a password.
So what is the next thing I can try? I'm at my wit's end here and just want it to work again. Thanks for all help.
Anyone know what I should try? For example what custom RAM + firmware might I want to try? At this point I don't care what it is as long as it works. It's a MT6580 device if that helps.
God, I FINALLY got it working.
In case there's anyone else that runs into this: My mistake was getting the stockrom from needrom, every one of those roms for this phone is bad. Get the rom from shareas.us and use SP Flash Tool to flash it, and even then you have to try to get the one that isn't password protected with no password. Leave the battery in, turn the phone off, use option "format + download" in the software and click download BEFORE you connect the phone, NOW connect the phone and after a little while it will start downloading. Disconnect the phone when it's done and switch it on, it will take a REALLY long time to boot up the first time but it should then work.
That's what came from hours of trying to get it to work. The tutorials etc. online are so confusing, even some incorrect instructions like saying I should take out the battery that are completely false and I would never have gotten it to work if I paid more attention to them. I don't ever want to go through something like that again. I finally have my phone back.
