Today my phone was bring finnicky and locking up, so I restarted it. Lo and behold the thing won't even boot. I don't even get a boot animation. I get a flash of LG for half a second and then blackness. Couldn't boot into recovery, so instead I booted into download mode and LGNPST back to JB stock. Now it won't boot past the AT&T logo. I see LG, AT&T, hear the little jingle, and then the screen stays the same. When I power the phone off it auto powers itself back up and tries to boot again. Endless cycle.
Anyone have any idea what's going on or how to fix it? I'm lost at this point and fear that I may have inadvertently bricked my phone. Really can't afford a new one...
You could try factory reset from stock recovery. The button combo is volume down plus power. There will be a menu screen if you get it to work.
Went in to AT&T support and that's what the guy did. It worked. Thanks, wish I had seen this post before making that drive.

Ok snoot sure if anyone has experienced this but randomly after using my phone this morning I noticed it was getting really warm in my pocket. I took it out only to realize I am stuck in a boot loop. I can hold volume down and power and get into hboot, but none of the options....even factory reset do anything, just sends the phone into another boot loop. The kicker is that I have never even attempted to REIT my phone yet. Any suggestions other than going to Verizon and taking my chances there?
Have you tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds to hard reboot the device?
If that doesn't work, try getting the phone into the bootloader, connect it to your computer and try to flash an RUU from there. There's a link to the download for it in the development section, along with guides on how to use it. If you can't flash the RUU, post back here and we can help with that, but if the RUU flashes successfully and it still boot loops, there's probably not much to do except take it back.
My phone restarted one day and just wouldn't boot up. At first it was just stuck on the SAMSUNG logo, but after trying to boot into recovery, it now sits at the boot animation. When I try to boot into recovery, the CWM screen will come up, but no menu will show up, and then the phone will restart after a few minutes and go back to being stuck on the boot animation.
I can enter Download Mode, but USB Debugging must be disabled since ADB won't recognize the device and I can't send any commands (yes, drivers are installed).
First of all, is there any way I can recover the data on the phone? That is more important than getting the phone working, since I was just about ready to get a new phone anyway.
What can I do to get the phone working? Everything involving flashing a new kernel, or resetting the phone back to factory seem to require a working recovery or the ability to send commands through ADB, but I'm probably missing something, since there must something else that I can do.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
**Not sure if this is related or not, but the reason why the phone restarted before this issue occurred is because the power button on the phone is a bit faulty. Over the past couple months I've been having issues with the power button; it seems overly sensitive so when I push it sometimes the screen will turn on and off and other times the phone will just restart as if I held the button down for too long. This is the main reason why I was ready to get a new phone.
Started two days ago. Phone would randomly power off and boot back up. Finally it shut off and would not power back on. I had Cm11 installed with CWM 4.0.4.6. The phone powers on after inserting the battery. The Samsung logo flashes and then it shows the "Galaxy S3" logo with the CM logo below it. The phone the powers off. I have done a factory reset, cleared both caches, formatted the system folder, flashed SlimKat from recovery and tried another known good battery. At this point I figured I would reflash CWM but if I put the phone into download mode, it powers off after just a few seconds as well.
If I boot the phone into CWM, the phone stays on as long as I want it to so it makes me think this might be fixable. Just need some help.
Ask in your device forums.
My apologies. Didnt realize there was another S3 board. Found and posted there.
Details whether some of them matter or not:
Galaxy S3 (Sph-L710)

Over the past couple days, I have been doing research on how to bring my phone back to it's factory firmware.
I tried a couple things, one of them ended up in being stuck on the Download mode, saying that the Firmware Upgrade was incomplete.
I managed to get out of it using a .tar on Odin to bring it back out. It worked. I was at my home screen. Everything was working beautifully. Honestly, I am still a nub when it comes to some of these things. So in that case I had no idea what I was doing.
Now, I have found the original firmware for my phone, and when I was getting ready to use it, I turned off my phone and rebooted it into Recovery mode.
Now when it starts up, it says "Recovery Mode" in the corner in little blue letters as it should.
And then it just goes to a blank black screen.... I have waited for probably 45 minutes, still nothing is happening.
I take out the battery, unplug it, all that jazz, and then reassemble it. And when I try to turn it on normally, just to get back to my home screen, it does the same thing.
I can't get it back to anything. I think something I did either erased or corrupted my recovery, and now it won't do anything.
Halp.
During normal use the phone just locked up and wouldn't respond so I took out the battery and put it back in expecting for it to just turn back on but it just stayed at the Lg logo and I realized what had happened, (I have had multiple issues with this phone in the past) I just shoved it in my pocket and went on business when I pull it out again and the screen is black I click the power button and it shows (Translated from polish)

Reset phone
I've had this happen once before so I sighed angrily and pressed the button to wipe my phone. Nothing again nothing, again and nothing. The button wouldn't do anything. So I reboot it and this time it just hangs I let it go for 3 days straight on the LG logo. I try various methods to reflash the phone back to a working state none of them work and the last one is what shattered it. This is the link for it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2748384 I try using that tool and it goes to 27 percent and fails so I try again and it the process won't start so I (apparently not learning my lesson about rebooting phones) take the battery out and try to get into s/w mode again. It won't go so I rush to my only computer with fast boot working and I couldn't get anything to flash onto the phone. The partitions are missing apparently. So how do I reset my partition table so I can reflash my phone. Note I did try this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546571 but the LG software kept erroring about 25%.
