So I installed light flow to be able to have notifications disabled at certain times. All of my apps are working OK except for go SMS. When a text comes in and the screen goes off I cannot get the notification light to work. When I run the test it works but not when an actual text comes in.
Can someone tell me how to set it up??
Thanks!!

So when I had Eclipse, a blue led would come on for each text I received. It would not blink, it would just stay on.
I flashed cm7 and it has changed to a blinking led (after I had to turn the led notifications on). Is there any way to change it back to solid?

You could try looking a settings/CM settings/interface/LED notifications
If by chance you're using Handcent sms, you can set the LED pulse to an extremely slow speed. While it isnt solid it is the best you could do without changing things in Root Explorer; another thing you might want to look at as I am 90% sure the solution lies there.
Maybe ill play around in it and see what I can come up with
I've never used BLN before but it appears to be functioning erratically for me. I'm running RC6 and the bln free that he included in the ROM. It seems I'll consistently get BLN notifications for a few hours, then not get any for a few. I don't know how else to explain it other than sometimes my keys are glowing and sometimes they aren't. And unless I'm missing something the only options in the app are on/off, and duration of light.
Any ideas?
If you want your soft keys to glow every time you have a text you have to download go sms or hanscent sms the reason is our stock sms app doesent have the notification light option since our phone technically doesent have a notification light but the 3rd party sms apps do have the option for a notification light so thats what makes the soft keys glow when you have a text

I could swear though I've gotten bln before from texts alone... Maybe I just got emails at the same time

Emails seem to be the only ones that blink but not text

When we get proper Bln, it will work with stock SMS. It was done on the gs2.

Someone recently posted the led control code is wrong in the phone, and it sure shows. In any app other than stock ones, the led color is wrong and it stays solid instead of blinking. Really getting annoying.
why is it wrong? it works fine with stock maybe its just different because its a full spectrum led?

Its sorta true. I mean my GO SMS PRO just stays solid tricolor! I don't mind it really at the moment. When light flow is fix I will prolly play around with that.
I don't think its wrong or broken...its a new phone, new API.
I think applications just aren't coded to make the proper calls to make this work properly.
Ever see updates from the Play store that says "Now working on Motorola Droid 3" etc...?
My guess is we just have to wait for something like that for our phones.
In the mean time, I do agree that it is annoying that our LEDs won't blink properly, or that my notification light has to be yellow, or purple for text messages, haha.
Mine is not even working at all when I receive a notification or text <_<. It only turns on when I'm charging the phone

Go to Settings - LED indicator and check "Missed event"
So let's just forget about 3rd party apps for a sec, I'm sure they'll update eventually (Handcent SMS, FB etc... would be nice to pic the color and blink for each).
What about stock apps and functionality, am I correct in assuming that even using the stock SMS, email, and phone apps that you cannot customize the LED color or have it blink?

You can use 3rd party apps, like go sms to change the color, but its broken. I have a thread floating here that lists what color you 'choose' and what color is actually shown on the device.

GoSMS notifications are definitely solid. I just keep emailing them and asking them to update for the U.S. versions of the GS3.
LED notifications are fine on the International version.
Anyone know how to get the notification light to blink when new text or call received, I noticed it worked in the aosp build but not the cm10 build I'm on now am I missing something!?
Thanks.

I am running cm10 as well and my notification light is working fine (although it seems all the custom colors I try to create just end up looking white.... Just messed with the settings and i was making the color too dark, now the colors look great!) and it should have been active from the start. Go to settings -> display -> and then notification light and make sure it is enabled, then from there you can tweak the color settings.
Yeah blinks once and then it doesn't blink anymore! :/

Anyone else have any ideas it's supposed to blink continuously until you open your phone right if there is a missed message you have not checked?

Download Lightflow and you can customize the colors, frequency and other sounds associated with notifications and calls. It also overrides the default notification lights for apps so you don't have to worry about getting multiple colours for a notification.

Thanks for the tip I actually installed aokp works perfect!

I have the LED set to stay on and blink when I get a new notification or message with LightFlow. It should turn off once I open the app to check the message or clear the notification. This works perfectly for Skype, Gmail, Hangouts, and charging my phone. But when I get a text message, the light either blinks for a second and then stops, or nothing happens at all. I've tried changing the settings in LightFlow, using the notification setting in the messaging app instead, using different apps (the stock messaging app and Go SMS Pro), but they all have the same problem. This is an issue with MMS too. Is there a specific setting I'm missing?
Might be STAMINA-Mode? The notification LED behaves different if STAMINA-Mode is enabled. It won't change color/duration.
Curious about this myself. I have a similar issue. I leave stamina mode on running all the time. When I get any notification, it blinks a couple times, then disappears. I believe this is due to stamina mode.
I tried downloading Light Manager and set it up, but again those settings take effect for a few notification blinks, then it turns off - again assuming it's due to stamina mode.
Here's the weird thing, when I turn stamina mode off, Light Manager doesn't take effect, and the default notifications take priority and work properly.
I've tried adding light manager to the excluded apps in stamina mode but it still doesn't work. Is there a Sony process I can add to stamina mode that will exclude notification lights from being hibernated?

I never have STAMINA mode turned on. The weird thing is all of my LED notifications work just fine, it's just SMS and MMS that doesn't. When I try to test out the LED blinking in the Go SMS Pro app, nothing happens. The LED works when I test the notification in LightFlow, but nothing happens when I actually get a message.

I don't know, but you can try this xposed module if your device is rooted http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-xperia-stamina-mode-led-t2713892
it brings back the LED functionality while stamina mode is on.

Huge thank you. Rooting will be my next step then, I'll have to do that tonight and give this xposed module a try. Thanks!

Well I tried Light Manager and that seemed to work for a bit, now it doesn't work anymore. Still nothing for SMS.
Have you tried using a different sms app? I know you said gosms and stock, but give textra a try. It's really nice and simple, and fast. Not to mention the security issues that gosms has. I would advise anyone using gosms to use something different. That's just my opinion. There was an article here on XDA about the go team and their apps. Very shady company based out of China.

It looks like Light Manager works now. I disabled and re-enabled Light Flow and that seems to fix it, so I guess I'll be using Light Manager for the SMS notifications at least.
I use Go SMS mainly because it's the only SMS app I know of that gives you the option of not using the bubble layout. Not a huge fan of it. I'll give Textra a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
