[Q] cwm problem - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so about a month or so ago i got my galaxy s3 rooted it and installed cwm recovery
anyway from then iv been having a bit of a prob with cwm if i remember correctly it was the one by chain
anyway anytime i go in the cwm apk that came with it i get an error and also certain stuff like fixing permission i cant do... n yes its rooted succesfully because iv checked it with the root checker and it allows apps such as titanium backup
also i get an error in rom manager saying i need to flash clockwork mod recovery iv pressed install and it still does the same thing in rom manager so idk whats the problem
iv added a picture of the errors below

That the app is not working is known since a long time and not a big concern.
Maybe try the newer versions, e.g. Philz recovery (link in my sig)

ok thanks
miraculously rom manager worked yesterday

[Q] Clockwork Recovery Mod

Hi guys, I have an Htc Legend and im getting really frustrated with trying to get into the clockwork recovery mode.
I rooted my phone using the visionary+ software and it successfully rooted and downloaded superuser and lucky patcher. I then tried to flash a rom to replace my HTC sense so i downloaded rom manager and successfully got a clockwork recovery mod. I found a rom I liked but when i said to download it, it took me to the system recovery mode. I tried several different roms and they still led me to the system. I even tried the "unlockr's" instructions to flash a recovery mode off the computer and it still didn't work.
If someone has any idea what might be wrong and how to make it work could they please let me know.
Thanks in advance

[Q] How can I downgrade CWM Restore?

While flailing around trying to get ROM Manager and CWM Restore installed on my rooted Galaxy S4 I blew it and installed CWM Restore 6.0.4.4. It doesn't work, telling me (something like) "No command" and presenting what looks like the stock recovery menu.
This error happens when I try to start a nandroid backup from the touch menu.
I finally found the official CWM page and downloaded 6.0.3.2.
My new problem is that I can't install 6.0.3.2 because it refuses to replace the newer version (6.0.4.4) that I can't use.
Please help me get CWM working. I'll feel a lot better when I can use it.
Thanks!

What bootloader version is your phone running? Have you read this post?
(Sorry if you're on MDK, but the fact that you don't say that you're on MDK indicates that you're probably not.)

[Q] Android System Recovery 3e

Hi All, I rooted my Verizon GS4 with this method "[GUIDE] Root for Verizon Galaxy S4 ***VRUAMDK Build Only!***" back before the first update so I have Root with Baseband I545VRUAMDK, Build JDQ39.I545VRUAMDKand Kernal 3.4.0-562219. I haven't tried to install any ROMs since then but started to get the itch so I started refreshing myself on the process and found that when I try to reboot into CWM Recovery it boots to Android System Recovery 3e. I'm looking for guidance on how to get CWM working properly. ROM Manager says I am using CWM 6.0.4.7. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

From what I've read about that issue is people have had to Odin back to stock then start over. Now maybe you could try installing another recovery like Philz maybe using Odin or try Goo for TWRP before you Odin back to mdk and go through all that.

I had a similar thing a few years ago, with what I know now I think the recovery is temporarily flashed with CWM to gain root and stock recovery is replaced after, I'd look for an actual CWM recovery to flash in.
Same applied to me using a ROM Manager, said it was v.xxx made a backup, flashed a ROM, turns out was left without a backup..... noob-old days

Thank you for the solid replies, I'm interested in getting experience with the other recovery methods anyway so I'll try those and worse case I start from scratch.
I have pretty much this same issue. I was happily running 6.0.44 CWM, installed via CWM.
Then I happened to check and see there's an update to 6.0.47. I installed via ROM manager which reported success. Except that it isnt. I basically have 2 recoveries as far as ROM manager is concerned. It thinks I'm on 6.0.47, but 6.0.44 is what boots. I'm betting it's the same issue you have.
I re-flashed Twrp trying to fix it. Now twrp is what recovery always boots; but Rom manager still thinks 6.0.47 is installed. Rom manager shows BOTH recoveries in the "Recovery already installed" menu.
Seems the issue here is the 6.0.47 when flashed via Rom manager. It bugs the crap out of me that it seems like I have 2 recoveries installed somehow. Not sure how that's possible, but everything seems like it's functioning for me.
Compare the sizes of the recoveries, one thing I've come across is when you flash a new .img in because of the NAND chip process for writing/erasing I have had 'remnants' from previous files.
In one respect it is unlikely but I wouldn't rule it out until you check yourself. It could just be left on the list as a marker that it has previously been installed.
Personally I don't use ROM Managers now, it's into TWRP Recovery and backup from there

Look Like I'll Have to Start From Scratch
I'm just getting back to this because work was crazy. No Matter what recovery I try always comes up with Android System Recovery 3e. Stock MDK and re-root it is.
Maybe try using GooManager to install TWRP after you've gone back to stock.

Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-19100) Gingerbread | Rooted, but superuser not working

Hello peeps, evilbeef here!
So yea, I have rooted my phone a while a go I have used Odin v185
and I used Speed Kernel S2 K-2 -21 as the PDA file. I have found this on GalaxyS2 Root webpage
I have successfully rooted it, basically I have rooted so many phones using Odin. :laugh:But this one is different. I already have Superuser app (from google store) before I started rooting it. After I rooted it, my phone rebooted automatically. In the Startup, The phone has yellow triangle. My Phone works normally.
BUT THE PROBLEM IS, THERE IS NO REQUEST OF PERMISSION SHOWING, I ALSO USED ROOT CHECKER, IT IS NOT WORKING, IT SAYS ROOT ACCESS IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED. ALL OF THE APPS I DOWNLOADED THAT NEEDS ROOT PERMISSION ALSO DOESN'T WORK.
BUT ONE THING I AM WANDERING ABOUT IS THAT MY KERNEL VERSION CHANGED.
IT SAYS THAT: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #k2-21
But also when I go to recovery mode, I can flash CWM recovery automatically.
The only thing that doesnt work I think is the Superuser.
I also tried checking su binary vlegacy. I also try to check for updates but superuser keeps me forcing it to close.
I think I am only having issues with Superuser I think. How Can I fix this? Please Help
Uninstall supersu from you phone.
Download supersu from this link- https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/ Copy paste it into your SD card.
Boot into cwm recovery and install the supersu zip file you downloaded.
Thanks for the fast respond bro! I was thinking about the same thing tho, I just want to have confirmation from others if this thing would work! HAHAHAHAH thanks mate! :--------)
