I have never done it (never needed to), but I found this article posted at teletechnology.in and it may help answer your question.
How To: Connect USB Modem Or Data Card To Android Tablet

I am running 4.0.3 release 5 on my Sony Tablet S. It is rooted and i am able to use a Huawei E173 UMTS stick loading several kernel modules.
It might work for you as well. Have a look at this quite old thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870077

root and search the APP UMTS manager in playstore

Download PPP Widget from market, and plug your usb modem.
Requirements - READ BEFORE COMPLAINING:
- Needs root access (with "Superuser" or "SuperSU" app)
- Needs USB host

[Q] Using Android as WLAN adapter [URGENT]

Hello guys, I have a specific question. I bet that it's very rare, but I bet that in this forum there are some real Android gurus.
The thing is that I need is to use my Android device as a Wifi adapter.
My problem is that I need to solve this scheme.
Home Computer [1] has internet connection via ethernet, but has no Wifi.
Laptop Computer [2] has Wifi, but has no internet connection.
The problem is that Computer[2] needs internet connection.
I want to share my internet from Computer [1] to Computer [2] via my Android (Gingerbread, Cyanogenmod, rooted).
Both computers are with Windows ([1] - XP, [2] - 7).
Could somebody help me? Or it's just not possible? This thread would be very helpful for our community.
And no, when you use integrated thethering function, phone does not act like a bridge. It does share it's 3G/2G broadband to Wifi or/and USB.
What android device are you using? Some android devices (from HTC) have an internet pass through service which could be useful in your situation.

In that case, you could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229558 then use a wireless tether app: https://market.android.com/details?id=android.tether&feature=search_result to share the internet with Computer [2].
The universal solution is here:

I found it here:

[Q] 2 questions usb 2.0 hub / bluetooth -android 4.0.3

Hi,
I have cheap tablet with Android 4.0.3 (cpu arm cortex a8).
Unfortunately I have only one host mini usb port + adapter (mini usb - usb with host usb). I'm trying to connect devices by :
hama usb 2.0 hub (bus-powered)
unfortunately only first connected device is working properly next devices are not visible for the system. Is there any way to add drivers/software to use usb hub on android?
2nd question is that i'm trying tu run usb bluetooth v2.0 class 2.0 with BlueTerm software installed - but nothing works.
Which software/drivers are compatibile with usb bluetooth v2.0?
or chich usb bluetooth version I can use with BlueTerm??
Thanks
Now I'm in the situation that hub is working - I mean that when I connect external keyboard, pendrive - it's ok.
But.. when I want to connect 3G modem it works like that:
- if other devices are connected to hub before 3g modem, they are working correctly, usb modem receive power but cannot log in to the network.
- if 3g modem is connected as a first device (rest of the ports are empty) 3g modem connects with the network but if I try to connect any device more, those devices are not working..
Also still I didn't found sollution no my BT problem

[Q] Howto attach to network drive ?

My WiFi router has a 32G flash drive plugged into its built-in USB port. All my Windows based PC's in my home, can access that flash drive as a network drive.
Is there any way that my Android devices (Droid 4, generic Allwinner tablet) can also access that drive? Of course, when they are connected up to my home's WiFi network.
I have been searching for such an app, unsuccessfully, though it is entirely possible that I am simply not using the correct terms when searching.
Just to add, both my devices are running ICS, and have been rooted (if that makes a difference for the answer).
You can use ES File Manager it allows for Samba / FTP file sharing it is a fairly strait forward app and you shouldn't have any difficulties using it.

Access internet

Hello,
I have rooted OnePlus One device (Android 5.1.1 custom ROM Sultanxda) and an old PC which have installed ubuntu 10.04. That PC don't have internet connection so I can't perform sudo apt get comand. Kindly teach me how do I connect to the internet by using my OnePlus One device and above ubuntu version OS.
Thank you.
If you have wireless option on PC its as easy as setting up a mobile hotspot, otherwise you can use a USB cable as well
A quick Google (or xda) search will give lots of guides on this
Thanks for reply. I only have USB cable option. Can you please help me how do I proceed. When I searched on internet all of them saying to have some apt get, but here qestion is when (i don't have internet connection on the PC; my only tool is my device to access the internet) starts to solve the problem, solution starts itself with head of problem. Even if I downloads some file in the device, I am not able to copy them in PC because it is neither mounting the device nor any MTP/ADB functionality available. Is there any way to copy / access the device through twrp?
Bump...
See if you can get MTP to work in Ubuntu with this:
edit -
/lib/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules
Add:
ATTR{idVendor}=="05c6", ATTR{idProduct}=="6764", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="660", GROUP="audio", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1", TAG+="uaccess"
ATTR{idVendor}=="05c6", ATTR{idProduct}=="6765", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="660", GROUP="audio", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1", TAG+="uaccess"
Restart udev:
sudo service udev restart
As far as an internet connection, if your carrier (or rom) supports wifi tethering, then you can get a USB wifi adapter. If you are able to tether, then you can also transfer files wireless by using an app like WiFi File Explorer Pro.
There is no /lib/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules in my PC. Do I have to create one new?
I tried to create one new and paste above two lines and restarted udev, but no luck. When i says lsusb it says :
Bus 001 Device 015: ID 05c6:6775 ualcomm, Inc.
@other:
Kindly don't post your answer(s) for just sake of posting because its frustrating me, why I am fighting with ubuntu, while same is running fine in windows...duh. Before posting your answer please please please check whether its is checked by you or you are just pasting **** answer at all over the internet.

Doesn't Multilaser M7 3g plus deserve a way to root?

Sorry if I'm uninformed, but I spent a few days looking for a method to root the infamous multilaser m7. A tablet with a very bad performance to install a virtual machine and at the same time super complicated in terms of compatible tools to improve its android 9. Has anyone experienced this problem, have any tips besides advising me to burn it or play In the trash?
My final objective is get remote access in this tablet without confirmation... none of most usable tools (Airdroid, Anydesk, teamviewer) work in this tablet without confirmation ou USB temporary confirmation every time the devise turn off or the tool updated. In respect of this last thing, I know that here isn't the best place to ask, but all help is welcomed.

AFAIK the 3 mentioned apps make use of a Wi-Fi connection and not of a USB connection. Once you are going to establish a remote connection this must be confirmed, will say the appropriate connection ID must get input.

I agree ... they use wi-fi connection, thanks to God for that ... what I said is that I need to connect to the tablet without confirmation, I need to leave the tablet in my store and just upload and configure it remotely. For this, even installing the Teamviewer and AnyDesk plugins, and activating the direct connection option of Airdroid using USB without root, it is still not possible to maintain a connection with that tablet (mind cracker multilaser m7). Better options for example using Airdroid would be possible if it were possible to root this infamous.
@criph
Because tablet is powered by Mediatek chipset you can try to flash a pre-rooted Android ( Custom ROM ) by means of SP Flash Tool or do it the hard way by flashing a Custom Recovery ( e.g. TWRP ), then flashing Magisk framework via TWRP and finally root Andoid by means of Magisk Manager.

Don't know if you're still interested.
Using App Ops you may grant Anydesk or whatever the ability to always accept external connections.
To enable App Ops on a device without root, you will also need Shizuku. Follow the instructions on the screen.
