2 questions. Where are pinned songs located and do they get saved when u wipe and flash a new rom? If they don't is there a way to move them? To SD card or something

Needs root access:
/data/data/com.google.android.music/files. If you wipe + flash you will lose it.
I moved to SD card using Solid Explorer. First killed the music app to makes sure it wasn't running. Then backed up the files to my sd card and removed the directory under /data/data. Then I added a symlink of my SD card's location over in /data/data/com.google.android.music/files. Haven't tried flashing a new rom yet to see if they remain, but the files should stay there. I may need to look into backing up the databases or something as well to the SD card to make sure it remembers what songs it has downloaded. At least they are using sd card memory, which was my more pressing concern of how to do. Maybe move all of com.google.android.music over to external sd.
I'm not sure how symlinks work during a wipe of system for new install? So might want to remove the symlink before flashing new roms? Then recreate once flashed and installed google play music again.
So annoying that google doesn't allow switching that location to external. I want to be able to flash new roms and not have to re-download again. Also way larger storage available on my sd card.
Im gonna try that out yea i hate that u cant put them on sd card or atleast have a list of previously pinned music that i can easily just repin them all. I never know which ones i had

I have a playlist titled "Phone" that I use to synch or remove songs from my phone. Once the playlist is pinned, it just always stays up to date with what it contains. So I can add/remove tracks and albums from the computer and then refresh my phone and it does the same.
Are u serious??? Man that's exactly what I wanted. So it automatically downloads them to my phone if I pin them on PC???

You pin the playlist on the phone. Then modification to the playlist (done by computer or phone) will then trigger the playlist to also update on phone with those changes. If it doesn't start the update automatically you can also hit menu then refresh music on phone to trigger a check for changes.

Hi, Im pretty new at the whole rooting thing but I believe I have most of the simple parts down. I am running the stock thunderbolt rom with S-off and rooted, also debloated. Everything has been running smoothly but when I flash new ROMs to test them out, I've noticed each time a new one is flashing the text when it is flashing displays how much space my SD card has left on it, this number has diminished drastically sense I flashed my first ROM. I was wondering if this is normal or should I be concerned, looking for a fix for this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

When I started flashing, I backed up a lot, but sense then I've deleted all but the 3 I mainly use.

Download and install esfile explorer.
Run goto menu ,settings about 2/3 down the page check root explorer, I leave mount system unchecked until I need to write to it.
Go back to main page
Click menu then manager , then sd card analyst. It will scan sdcard and sort by size largest down.
Hope this helps.
Warning: Flashing Roms while under quillie suit can be hazardous to you health.
Thanks for your Service.

That worked! Looks like HTC sync was making duplicate copies of my music each time I was syncing it. Deleted Music and installed doubletwist, problem solved!

Ok quick question. On my sd card is a folder called "android". Inside is a folder called data and inside here looks like app data. My question is can i delete this folder cas it takes up 6gb.
Reason im asking is before on old rom i had moved all apps to sd card but after new rom i installed all apps to phone mem instead. So now not sure if this folder is from now or if its all my old app data from before. Unmount of sd card and my apps still work which makes me beleive its ok to delete but thought id ask u gurus first before i cause major problems.

Some applications store data in there, for example the Amazon appstore caches all your APKs there, I believe Google Maps' cache is there, etc. In *general*, it's fine to delete it but just be advised you may actually lose some data/settings you don't know about. If you're cool running all your apps with the SD card unmounted, I don't see why it would cause you any major grief.
Well basically yeah figured that. Now if i delete it and i lost sum app data cant i just use tibu and restore it ?? That way i get of the junk...???

I doubt it, I don't think TiBu backs up the stuff on the SDCARD, but I could be wrong about that. I've only used it one or twice
Any input from anyone else before i try this ? The whole idea is to try and clean some space off of my already small sscard. Just didnt think i had 6gb worth of apps and thinking it came from before when i moved everything to sdcard. thats why im asking the question in my OP.

You could always duplicate the folder on your pc, delete it entirely from your sd, and see what happens. Run it for a few days, and try out all of the apps you regularly use. If all hell breaks loose, you could just put it back on your sd and delete portions more selectively.

Please report back as I'm interested in this as well
Worked great. Copied folder to my pc then deleted it off my sd card. Restarted phone and ultimatly it made a new android folder. All apps still work. Freed a bunch of space. Foind out Basically that folder contains all the data from games and any apps that may need "downloaded content". So dont delete it unless you feel like downloading all this data over again.

I'm glad it worked out.
I'm curious. Considering it re-downloads data, is the size of the new folder considerably smaller?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
Well for me yes cas i think i had app files somehow from an earlier rom. Im not saying you will too im just talking about my situation so id be careful just in case.

OK guys! Now don't hate me. I know this has probably been asked many times before. So don't hate me, just looking for help. I download a lot of my music from the app called " mp3 music downloader". My question is " all my songs are being put into my USB storage not my external SD card. I have a 32 gig SD card that I want all my music to download too. Well one is how do I move all my music files from my USB to SD storage? and 2 how do I set it up that whenever I download music it automatically goes on my external SD card? Thank you to anyone that is willing to help a newbie.

I believe in the USB settings you must select, "mass storage mode" when connected
When you plug your note into your computer- if you run windows autoplay should recognise 2 seperate forms of storage. Usueally drive," I: " is your external SD
You can open both and simply recognise the difference between the two and your computer will recognise the amount of storage on both there is. So it should be easy to identify your external SD
For your sake, if your transferring music or anything for that matter organize it on your computer into folders- although generally the note recognizes the entire card with or without orginization; I just prefer not to mix my music with my backups in the same place
If you have any further questions feel free to PM me!

Wait nvm there's an easier way. Go to the ssettings of the app and change the directory to your external SD
From your phone download an app called astro file manager
Fine where your music is, cut and paste it to your external SD
What I described above is for the transfer of files through a computer but you can use your phone! Ignore my first post

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I did want to know how to do this from the phone only. I also went into setting under my music app mp3 music downloaded. There is no selection. Probably a ****ty app. But works great. I will try astro file manager. But does this mean every time I download a song I will basically have to do a copy and paste deal?

No no! Well, I'm sure the music app supports different completed download directories. Otherwise that's gonna be your best bet but ill look into it!

Well I checked the music app I use. Under settings there's no selection for where the music fies are downloaded. It automatically puts it in usb storage. I'm going to have to try another music app. Thanks for the help. But I did move all the files to the external SD card. Using Astro file manager. I'd like using this music app because it has the american billboard chart I can just pick the songs rather than typing and thinking of the song or searching.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I use that app and Your right there's no way to change the file location. Once a month I just do a cut and paste to my SD card. Its the only solution I've found.

It looks like it, even game data. Atleast thats how it is with the international version and theres no move to sd option in the setting. I dont see why it would be different for US version. The only other option I can think of is when theres root you can use GL to SD so you can move large game data to micro sd and leave the apps in internal. This is a better solution if you have large game data.
Makes it tough to plug and play a preexisting sd card since apps are looking for saved data in the usual sd location.
Like you said, I'm sure once we custom roms things will be different

I have had my galaxy s4 for about a week and a half now and love this phone. I still have 7 GB of space left, but tutorials online that show apps could be moves to the SD card. I have a Verizon Gs4 and when i go to application manager i do not see the option to move apps to the SD for all of my apps. I even tried installing a app that the tutorial shows was installed on the SD card and i could not move it. Has Verizon not launched the update for the S4 to install Apps to the SD card? It would be nice to move some apps to the SD card.
There should be an update soon. It is rolling out in Germany first.

At this point, we're unable to move apps to SD card. As you mentioned there is an update slated for the int'l version S4 - will be obviously after that b4 the Verizon mods are implemented. These is a app in the play store "folder mount" that could definitely help to maintain internal space: must be rooted

ok thanks for the reply
The update will be useless in regards to reclaiming space. You're better off buying the pro version of Folder Mount and using it to symlink Android/OBB.

If your comfortable with rooting, romming, etc... Most custom roms cut out a lot of the pre installed jazz. Off a fresh install of Clean Rom 1.9 I'm using less than 1gb of my internal storage.

Has there been any news on this?
If I'm running a custom ROM will my phone be able receive this update, or will I have to wait for the ROM to be updated as well? TIA
There is a nice program to perform this task ..You can Also transfer basic programs to external memory, but they need root...
Might I be so bold as to ask the name of said program?
