So here is my question for you all. I am new to Jelly Bean but not new to custom roms. Having the s4 for a week, I love the device but there are many things that I can't stand. I have a couple of questions wondering if root will fix, or if I need to wait for some cool roms to come out. Here are my 2 wishlist items:
1. Change the default voice app program. I hate how laggy S Voice is, just like Siri. Is there a way that I can make double tapping the button to launch google now waiting for an audio command vs s voice? I discovered that holding menu will launch google now and I can say the word "google" for it to hear my commands. 1 Handed operation while driving makes it very hard to launch. I hate to say it but one thing I loved about my iPhone was even with the phone sleeping, I could hold that button to fire up siri.
2. With root, is there a way to enable the phone to force CDMA/EVDO only? There are situations that LTE is giving me 1 bar in my office where CDMA is giving me 4 bars.
Thank you for any advice you may have to give!

I too would like to know if there is a way to go to 3g only. 4g sucks at my work.

Why is there only in the Android versions from the Nexus a voice dialing possibility? I like the mdeejay build, but again no voicedialing. The same problem with de original windows mobile HD2. I know, that you can use google voice search, but this mostly doesn't work with my Jabra. I still have to push buttons on the device itself, instead of REAL handsfree (pushing the button on m Jabra). Could someone please develop an app, that does the same in the HTC android, or is there already a working solution?
are you seriously complaining
Why is there only in the Android versions from the Nexus a voice dialing possibility....
............there are other build besides nexus....
I know, that you can use google voice search, but this mostly doesn't work with my Jabra....
.............get in a long line of people wanting this....

once again are you serious
Yes, of course I am serious. It's a mobile phone, so I should be able to use my phone handsfree. What's strange about that?
Nothing you are asking for stuff that alt of people want did you read anything about what works and what doesn't when you start asking and making threads requesting things is like a slap in the face to the devs who already know what's wrong just be happy with what's is working, or at the last post in the right section, like the general section..or post in the thread of the build your using

The question was not unreasonable. Was I complaining? I have searched all the forum, but nowhere I found a post about a good working handsfree feature. If there is anyone, who is not taking a forum-member serious, than it's you, thatruth132. If you don't have an answer, don't react. Everyone is making comments on builds, and that is what this forum all about. And say yourself, a basic handsfree-dialing possibility should be on a mobile phone. I was not slapping anyone's face.
I finally found a build, dat has the feature: mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.7][Kernel: mattc 2.6.32.9 #4, and I am very happy with it. All works fine!
And to all the other developers: I admire all your work, and please go on. Again thank you!
Hi,
I am very new if it comes to android but I have just received the Yinlips YDPG18.
At first sight I loved the look and of course that it's android.
But I have a few questions regarding this new hardware:
1) Standard emulators which are pre-installed. Do you prefere removing them and install newer type emulators?
If so, which one do I need and where can I find them?
2) After playing several games, I noticed that your only able to push 2 buttons at a time. (left and right). If your trying to push 2 buttons at 1 side, it does not work. Is this fixable?
3) I noticed some lag with the current nin64 games. When i put it on skipframes 10 it runs a little bit smoother. but i gues this is not the way it should be?
4) I see people talking about rooting the device, but wont i lose the functions of the buttons?
I hope that someone can help me with this, i want to improve the yinlips to make it more playable for the pro-gamer ;-) I love the retro games but it is just very annoying when you play Mario Kart and you cannot shoot items without letting go of the GAS!! hahah
thanks guys for helping me out!
p.s. wouldn't it be easier to start a board with a Yinlips section? This way it would be easier for Yinlips users to find support or answers for their questions?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

First, thanks for posting in the correct section. First round is on me if you're at the bar.
Dive in to the other ROMs. Never settle for one when ten are calling your name to try.
Might have been a bad flash. You could always uninstall and reinstall it through the market.
Some ROMs have the option in their settings. Don't know how to do it manually.

I've been using Google Voice Search since day on my original Droid with slide out keyboard, but today it's no longer voice-to-text'ing my punctuations. It's actually spelling out each punctuation into words, and this extremely annoying considering how dependent I have become with Google Voice Search's Voice Actions.
I sell phones and demonstrate, always driving around to different locations, always have hands tied... Please help me figure out why it's all of a sudden not punctuating..!
I'm rooted on stock. Voice Search has been cleared, force stopped, installed updates, reinstalled updates.
Swype's keyboard microphone does punctuations and smiley faces perfect.
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Would anyone know why I cannot type punctuations with my voice with google voice search anymore?

No idea but mine has been doing that last couple of days. Has been driving me crazy.

I just did a Google search for my issue, and I found my own thread just after one day of posting. It's the first result, too. That's sweet.
I'm extremely glad it's not just me! It happened to me just a couple of days ago, too. I was out of town on business, so I couldn't trouble shoot on other Androids. I'm at my girl's house now. I picked up her Droid Incredible 2 while posting this, and I held down the search button:
Send Text to NAME smiley face
It spelled out smiley face instead of making one. This appears to be Google. I'll be checking on other Android devices tomorrow. I'm very glad it's not my Razr.

Anyone else having this issue? -_-
Same Problem Here
It is definitely google, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum but I'm on rooted HTC Evo 4g and just noticed the other day, when I use voice search it will spell out my punctuation. Example "Hello comma are you going to the party tonight question mark" rather than "Hello, are you going to the party tonight?" as it did before.
Ironically enough, it only does this when I actually use the voice search comment and say "Send text to" etc.
If I already open up a text and press the little microphone it will still dictate punctuation.
Same Issue - but speech to punctuation works in other apps
Same problem here. It just started happening to me a couple days ago and extremely annoying. I can't believe how dependent I am on voice search - I use it all the time. I tried deleting and reinstalling voice search, as well as changing the settings for google services voice recognition, but neither had any affect.
What's really strange is that the voice to punctuation works in other apps like texting or email apps, which also use voice search for the speech to text conversion. It just doesn't work from the "voice search" application.
Strange....
Same issue here, rooted Samsung Epic 4G with CM9. I have a feeling it's some weird issue with Google's servers or something...
Yep, happening to me too.
I have been tweaking without my Google Voice Search texting. It makes the "Send Text To:" command utterly useless.

Same problem here... I thought it was because I moved it into the system directory. Moved it out, and still same problem. Now that I see I'm not the only one, I'm moving it back...
Can anyone suggest an alternative for e-mailing? I tried Vlingo, which handles punctuation correctly, but doesn't do as good of a job looking up contacts.
I thought it was because I switched from my HTC Vivid to my Galaxy Note... I guess it is not just that Samsung sucks.. lol ... I hope this issue gets resolved sooner than later..
I just posted a question about this and a link to this thread on Reddit.
Same problem here.
I flashed an ICS ROM to my EVO3D and still have the same issue. Plus there's no mic icon in the pop-up text window.
Add one more to the list ... HTC Sensation running ARHD 6.6.3. Surely this isn't a new "feature" from Google ....
Thank you to everyone who has replied and stated they're having issues.
Maybe we can get a moderator to move this thread into the right area? Especially considering we have this issue across multiple devices?
Who can help me create a Google support thread? I've been wanting to contact Google about this issue.
It's fixed! Stupendous! Back to good old trusty Google Voice!
We all do (have this problem atm. I am on Stock Android JB @N7000). All I could find is this. http://support.google.com/android/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1715292
Check this: http://forum.swype.com/showthread.p...n-Google-Voice-vs-Dragon-on-Swype-for-Android
And that their voice products are amazing. For the first time, I am considering having read back books to me on the go or when preparing lunch - Google's TTS is THAT GOOD!
Bump.
I might start a new thread, but I'm starting here first to see if anyone is monitoring this thread.
The Google Now Voice to Text feature for "Send Text" is working again, but it now has a new issue. Punctuation and Smiley Faces are not recognized at the end of the last sentence of Google Now/Voice Search's "Text" Voice Command.
For example:
" text Bonnie i miss you exclamation point smile face "
Normally yields a text to Bonnie:
" I miss you! "
However, it now does this text:
" i miss you "
It actually continues to type the correct punctuation and smileys while dictating in the Search bar, but it does not carry them over to the text message. Anything at the end of a sentence is now completely lost. Vanishes. And annoying.
Prior to recently, it would not carry over punctuation at the end of sentences; but it would work fine if I added a smiley face to the end of my texts. So.. For a while, a vast majority of my texts to people ended with a smiley face. LoL. Just to get the question mark or exclamation point to show up correctly at the end of my texts. However, my smiley face band aid does not work anymore.
Anyone having similar issues?
My Verizon GS4 was delivered on release day and I've never fallen in love with a phone as fast as I did this one. However, there is only one app that makes me sad that I had to give up when I left my Razr Maxx behind and that was Smart Actions.
I've tried Tasker and Phone Weaver and yes I'm a smart guy and can eventually figure out how to set up profiles, tasks, scenes, etc. But I just simply don't have the time. What I really miss about Smart Actions is it had several predefined sets of rules already built in but gave you the flexibility to tweak to make them suit your use. It was very simple to use and extremely quick to set up.
I tried porting over the Smart Actions apk from my Razr to my GS4 but as I'm sure you already know that didn't work.
Has anyone had any success with other similar apps, or maybe even knowledge of pre-built templates that could be downloaded and imported into either Tasker or Phone Weaver?
I would be eternally grateful.
You could try Settings Profile from Google play.

Try Llama in the Play Store. It takes some setup but it's very easy and works great.

I've been using Llama for about two years. Great app - does everything I need it to, and not as complicated as Tasker.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try both and report back on my experience with each in case other readers have the same questions.
I appreciate it!
Automateit
I spent several hours playing with Tasker and while it is very powerful, there is also a learning curve with it. My grandson told me about Automateit Pro ... within a few minutes I had duplicated what I had been using in SmartActions on my new Galaxy S5. For me anyway, it is much more intuitive than Tasker and I like it better than Llama as well. I believe there is a free version as well as the 'pro' version ... more options available in the pro version.
