Hi, so after I updated my phone to JB 4 days ago I have noticed that my battery drains noticeably faster while I am using my phone. However my standby time is a lot better. I did a factory reset but it hasn't really helped much, I don't understand what the problem is.

Sorry about this comment, my brother originally typed it first, so I am deleted his response, because it was wrong information.
I would let your battery settle for about a week . Also try to drain your battery all the way down to zero and charge untill you get the notification about battery full. Do this a couple of times and see if it helped. Been doing this on all my phones i flashed.

Keeping the screen on will dran the battery since that's what screens do.
Regardless of the device (including laptops), screens always take >50% of the battery.
Could you show the screen-on time?

Let me venture a guess. When you get a new phone, you tend to play with it a lot, hence the screen on time and battery drain Give it a few days, it will be fine -- this phone has great battery life.

The battery needs to go through a few full cycles of drain and charge before it's reached optimal performance. First week battery drained more but now it's performing brilliantly.
Just keep letting it drain completely and charging fully a few times and have auto brightness selected.

I've heard that li-ion batteries don't suffer from memory issues and there's therefore no reason to calibrate them or run them in any specific charge/discharge cycle.
If you ask 100 different people about how best to use your battery you'll get 100 different answers. Don't worry about it, just enjoy the phone.
Hmm. This phone probably has the best battery life of any android phone I've owned, and I've had a few.

Yeahh check outt my screenshot..I have set the brightness level to the lowest and still display is taking much battery..even cell stand by.. do i have to fix anything?.. expert advices needed..thankss
Look in the attachments..
You haven't said how long the screen was on for.
I could show this first screenshot and say OMFG the battery doesn't last, but actually when you look at the second screenshot, then there's obviously no issues (and I am indeed perfectly happy with my battery life)

lol, I'm a bit OCD about these types of things.
But if it's not a problem then why do we need to do it?

Tripe.
Minimum of 3 cycles to reach peak performance. I have flashed hundreds of roms/kernals, it ALWAYS takes a few days for the battery to normalise.
Op, take a chill pill, calm down, post again in a few days. If you're still having drain, it will be down to an app or your settings.

Still the same **** i charged it 3 times and the battery is draining quickly when i'm just in facebook or an app it goes like 2 min = -1%

After about a week my battery life returned to Gingerbread levels.
I've been having the same problem (XT912) for the past couple of days. I thought maybe I was having network issues so I got a new SIM card from Verizon yesterday, and my battery lasted a long time up until a few hours ago where it started dying fast again. Airplane mode seems to make the drain subside too, but this is pretty crazy. Yesterday I was lucky to get 4 hours on a charge (without even using the phone), but since my new SIM last night I went from 10PM to like 12PM today (14 hours) and it only dropped to 80%, then a few hours to 70%, but then went to 20% within just a couple hours and it's been like that again today. I don't think it's ICS to blame, but something weird is going on for sure.
I had the same problem. I read that if you do a factory reset then it helps. At least it did for me.

You can search in the Play Store for apps that can calibrate your battery.
My battery is very good with ICS and I don`t have such a problems (for now).

Ok, after I rooted I seem to be having a strange. Battery issue .. anyone have a fix for this? (I user antutu to control CPU and for now I'm busting using it to monitor+ dropped my phone iinto eco mode ( where it usually is) I can counter bat loss by doing the normal stuff but I never had to do.anything other then turn off data before... and even then... but from 10:50 pm to 2:40 am the phone went from 90% to 12% . And that was ..( eco was off) lol ... but I have never had that happen. Before even with that.
Thanks for any advice

75% it was on the whole time...even though screen was off....
This is the screenshot its a straight drop over the hours mentioned ... slope stays steady so its Constant power drain until I noticed ( you can see on the graph)
None of those apps were open, and I had done a restart right before. ( I fell asleep which is why I know I wasn't using it)

On top of the screen i see the skype is running in backgroud..
Just sign out from skype and also close wifi..
Try it bcz to know the exact battery issue trial and error method of clossing apps is best.

Skype and Words with Friends destroy battery life if you don't completely kill them. Show us the top of your usage stats, not the graph.

Right after I rooted mine I had terrible battery as well. I ended up reformatting (not wipe, actually formatting my system and caches) and then installed my rom again, fixed permissions and my battery life has been amazing. If I don't use the phone my battery maybe drains five percent all day long. If I use it a lot it will last most of the day as well.

The other thing you should check is you fast dormancy.
If you're flashing custom ROMs it's best to do it at a FULL 100% charge. In the past, before I started doing this, I had major battery life "problems." My phone would drop from 100 to 1 in a matter of hours and just hang on 1% for hours on end. If you haven't done this, download Battery Calibration, turn off your device and plug it in. Once it reaches 100%, turn the device on, run the app, and restart your device WHILE STILL PLUGGED IN. Once everything settles you should be good to go.

It's not bad. Try better battery stats to see your wake locks and cpu spy to see if your device is deep sleeping

Thanks i will update tomorrow or so...
About deep sleep i already checked vefore and it does but as for better battery status i just downloaded the app. Should i just let it installed and dont touch or do i need to run in the background?

Some parts of it need root access. But it should still give you the wake locks. Just let it run in the background and check it after a min of 5hrs
Is that good for you? That's all it matters.
It looks alright to me.
Can it be improved? Of course.

I think you have several times recharge the battery to 100% and also drain the battery until phone turn off to calibrate.

Well, I'm gonna have to disagree with the others on this one. I started at 64% battery, rebooted - still 64%. To ensure this wasn't just a fluke, I tried it a few more times, and tried it the next day after charging all the way, draining it a bit, and then rebooting. Doesn't sounds like it's anything to worry about though, just thought I'd add my experience.

Let the battery drain out until it's empty, then charge to 100% with tablet off. After full charge, turn it on and let it charge additional 30 minutes-1 hour, then unplug and reboot and see if this fixes drain issue!
