Hi,
My goal was to find an android app similar to PC Internet Download Manager.
I have found some good apps that can capture and download streaming media files from the browser.
Some of them require Adobe Flash Player. These apps can download flv, mp3, mp4, etc
The apps in this list has their own integrated browser to be able to capture media files while streaming.
Here is the list:
Media Grabber - Good but has little features.
AVD Download Video Downloader - Great but can't capture every files.
Flash Browser - It's in public beta, so it won't work for all devices, mine included.
Vget - It can only download flash videos and not stream.
Are there any other similar apps that you know? Plugins? Other methods to download streaming files?
Thanks

I've been looking for such apps for weeks now. Thanks for the suggestions.
Hi
I was searching the web for same reason and saw this thread.
Tried all mentioned apps, not working for me. But i found "turbo download manager" on google play, that has a feature to download any media contents from web pages.
Hope it's useful for you too. Good luck
Just install AdGuard and make sure the Filtering Log is switched on. Play any content anywhere in any app on your phone and it will probably show you the link. You can then copy the link and open it in a browser and try to download it there. Does not work always though.

I noticed the picture viewer will play m4v videos that I put on the device through USB, but not FLV videos. What video formats are supported?
Is there anything that will play .flv video files? Any recommendations for better video players?
Thanks
I just purchased KalemSoft Media Player from the App Catalog, the price a little high but it plays many more formats than the stock webos player. I am happy because it's playing my divx movies so it was worth the cost for me.
What formats is the stock software supposed to support?

Google "webos quick install" and "preware" or just go here: http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Applicationreware#Installing_Preware_with_WebOS_Quick_Install
Thank you. Easy as pie with the WebOS quick install program. I was Googling and Googling and wasn't finding this.
[Q] Video: Streaming via SMB
Hello world
how can I do to watch movies on my touchpad streaming via SMB?
Are there any applications for it?
I thank you for your help
guys,
i need help to find out a good app to play .avi files on the touchpad ...
i tried installing Kalemplayer, it opens up the file and plays it but the screen is pretty messed up ..
i also did the touchplayer, but i cant seem to make it navigate to any of the file locations.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Stream Video
I would really like to have a good video player on my touchpad which could stream over my home network (samba). The best program I've seen so far is the one which comes with the Archos tablets.
What do you mean you cannot navigate using TP?
for some reason the kalem video player in preware is messed up, you can get a good copy by going to the kalemsoft website and downloading it from there, preware should install it when you try to open it.
http://www.kalemsoft.com/site/downloads2.html
it should be the link highlighted in red
Unable to install Kalem media player either. I was able to download it onto my touchpad but says 'Cannot open MIME type'.
Was one of the many that got it on sale and still pretty new to it. How do I get around this and get it on?
Try the touchplayer. It's back up on Preware.

When you install it, you have to make you are on 3.0.2. Also, your best bet, install Internalz Pro then install TouchPlayer, after they are installed reboot the device 2 times [for good measure]. They should install all dependencies that you will need.

I cant tell you a way to do it via SMB, but even if I could then you would need to start worrying about compatible codecs.
I would instead suggest Kalemsoft media player. It is seven bucks in the market or Free for the older version on their website.
If you download the server app, setup a DDNS account and forward the default kalem server ports you can stream your home moves to anywhere you have internet access.
If all you care about is streaming while at home, then I would use UPNP...

kalem soft works the best .. still no luck with touchplayer. thanks for the link duplissi
When you use Kalem, you're video isn't lagging at all?? I tried using Kalem and TouchPlayer. Honestly Kalem is better by far because at least it plays my video.... but otherwise, are those the only two video players out there ?
Does anyone know how to stream video from sites that are either in flv for divix format? I've been trying to get streaming video from say, watchseries.eu, to work but its a no go for me. I'm not sure if this is a limitation of mobile browsers as its the same way with my android phone. I would think streaming media of various formats should be something that is supported as these devices are portable media centers. Is there perhaps a downloaded browser on the market that works better for streaming media content or an app that will capture a stream and play it? I'm currently using the stock os, stock browser, and have tried the beta release of chrome but still no luck.

The Chrome beta is crap when it comes to flash (if you read up on it, it's not supporting flash at all), and won't help you. So's the stock browser.
Dolphin HD plays some flash, also Skyfire will play some... but there will be streams that you just won't be able to play on the TP.
I tried the pilot of Vampire Diaries and it worked...
I think it might be hit or miss with the actual server that is hosting the stream. I found one for the show I was trying to watch and it loaded. Just left it with the circular loading symbol going and it started about 3-4min later.
I will try a different browser over the weekend and see if there better compatibility.
-Thanks!
Hi there, i am a proud owner of an i9300, and im searching for a proper youtube downloader/converter to use. I've tested TubeMusic which is quite good ( it embeds into the official android youtube application, and whe u see a video, you press "share" icon and it adds the "Download" option. The only problem is that the files downloaded can only be played properly with the "Tube Music" player. They are still in .mp3 format and they are stored in the hidden fodler ".tubemusic" but the names are all messed up. I'd love if they could give us the setting to download wherever we want, and if it didnt mess with the mp3 names. Any ideas?
I've always used 'Tubemate' which isn't on Google play anymore but you can it from searching google.
You can specify what quality/resolution it downloads in or as an mp3. I would also be interested if anyone else has some other suggestions for YouTube downloaders.
Tubemate
Hm.. Im trying it right now, seems good but it doesnt embed in the official youtube application. Its an application on its own. Very good tho! Thanks!
If you use the proper youtube app, you can enable 'preload' (either on subscriptions or watch later).
I use Opera Mini to download YouTube vids. I navigate to the site, search for the video and when I click play or watch it automatically downloads the video in either mp4 or 3gp format depending on if I have his or low video setting enabled. Not sure if this is stock on the opera mini or if I downloaded something to enable it but it used to do the same on my Desire Z with the same app.

Google wants to leverage it's Youtube platform as a delivery network for commercial entities. That won't work if everyone can install an app to rip the video within seconds.
So they have to make it somewhat harder, since it's technically not possible to block such services/apps entirely.

By "embed" do you mean that this app is added as an intent from the Share option available on any YouTube video?
If so, TubeMate does this as well. Actually almost any app that is registered as a video filetype handler should be available from YouTube's Share menu.
In the last 2-3 days, I tried many browsers but I couldn't find one which has these features:
Able to download videos (from different sites like dailymotion and all these except Youtube (because of legal issues?). I tried Firefox since I use it on my Desktop pc and I thought it would be great to use it on Android too but Firefox Android's downloader (Flash Video Downloader add-on) doesn't work.
Can open videos with an installed app instead of using the browser's player (in my case, MX Player).
Have adblock.
Some features I like the browser to have like:
*From Next Launcher & UC Browser I like the Night mode.
*UC Browser's & Opera's downloader which you can immediately download the video instead of playing it.
Does Dolphin has some kind of downloader or adblock? I knew that you could download youtube videos with it but now you can't. What about the other sites? Can you download videos from there?

There is no one app to solve this. You can use following 3 apps
1) Dolphin browser- It features night mode. Its downloader can download files from sites where stock browser download failed.
But it cannot download videos.
2) VBrowser- It can download videos from any streaming site.
But contains ads.(see next solution)
3) Use Adaway (needs root) to avoid ads.

!!!!! You cant watch videos !!!!!
With this application you can :
* Youtube video search
* Youtube mp3 download
utube on YouTube MP3 downloader application allows you to download as mp3 files you want. Convert process takes only a few seconds . It is the fastest application via Youtube where you can download mp3 .
IMPORTANT NOTE: This application does not allows you to download videos longer than 20 minutes. This application does not allows you to download any video that copyright .
goo.gl/vbWVr2
It actually works. I just wish the way it worked was like in the official YouTube app, you could 'send' links to the uTube app and it then downloaded the mp3. Rather than using the uTube app for browsing videos.
nice info .. may be I'll try it :good:
great app
waw, I hope see this app soon.
Good Luck
