Hope someone has an answer to this.
I want to change the stock images of phone, messaging, contacts, and browser apps, but editing them in Nova Launcher or using Desktop Visualizer aren't working. Does anyone know of a way to change those app images with my own?
Yeah no go in Nova but Apex works great!

If you go into the settings there will be an option to select icon packs. Stock Jellybean is one of them.

Thank you...that's at least better than the touchwiz icons. Even though I still can't change them myself.

I can change them in Apex Launcher which basically uses the same icon changing edit method as Nova Launcher, but Nova changes don't work. App icon image just never changes in Nova. Again..in Apex I can change icon images and everything..all works fine, but not in Nova Launcher.
I've used Nova Launcher on my old galaxy nexus since it came out so yes I know how to change the icons.

There seems to be enough screen space to fit 5x5 icons on the homescreens instead of 4x4.
What's the easiest way to do this on a stock SGS3?
I don't think there are any mods yet to change the stock TW launcher. You might want to check out Apex Launcher or Nova Launcher if you haven't already.

In fact, TW is already modded...
Here
Or just install another launcher such as Go Launcher.

I tried out Nova (free) for a few days, have uninstalled due to:
- icons sometimes take a while to reappear.
- Calendar / S Planner widget sometimes takes a long time to populate.
The TW mods appear to need root... so I'm back to stock TW, and realizing that I don't need more than 4x4 that badly.
I just recently change my ROM to Omega 5.2 can't seem to find how to change the app drawer grid to 5x6.
BTW I'm using Nova Launcher. TIA
Same question here.
I've tried searching th forum but can't come up with the answer.
Also - anyone able to tell me ho you can tell if the upgraded camera - 30fps has been installed.
Thanks
I think its already included on the Omega v5.2. If you're not using omega just flash this mod then

goto nova settings-> desktop->desktop grid and change it.
btw stock touchwiz do not support changing grid size by default, there are few mods for it in our app section

That will only change the desktop icons, not the app drawer
Nova setings=app drawer and change

Thanks. I'm usig Omega. Do you have to use Nova or is the 5x6 included in Omega?

Yup - I realise that but I was just wondering if Nova would work on unrooted phones

yes you can, just try the free one on the market
Thanks. I don't understand then why 5x6 was meant to be a feature of Omega and yet when I installed the ROM there seemed to be no option to set it.
I'm concerned that I am using a more efficient ROM and yet straightaway I am adding extra weight.
Nova doesn't seem to move as smoothly - even as Touchwizz
When I use Nova launcher, I lose the Accuweather clock. It reappears when I go back to Touchwizz.
Is there any way round this?
I currently use launcher 4.2 for my launcher I do not like the Google search bar at the top of the screen. Does anybody know of a good launcher that does not have the Google search bar?

I tried those launchers and they still have the google search bar at the top. I want to use 100% of my screen. I do not want part of it used by the google search option. BAMF ROM for my Nexus phone modifies the Laucher 4.2 and removes that search bar. They just do not have BAMF for the nexus 10 yet.
There is a option in nova to remove it. Nova settings - Desktop - Persistent Search Bar

Ok thanks. I decided to install the Launcher2.apk that is in my 4.2 ROM from my phone which has the search bar removed and it works fine so I am good. I do not really like all of these launchers that have all of these options. I just like a simple clean launcher. Thanks for all of the help.
+1 for Nova..

Trebuchet from cm seems like your best option overall.

Nova here. I just have Google Search as an icon in the dock. Handy and removable but not taking up real estate.
Custom launchers look disgusting on the Nexus 10 for some reason. The sizes of everything are just off.

Agreed. I downloaded Nova, but I can't stand the size of the dock. I tried fiddling with it to see if I could resize it, but no success. Sticking with stock launcher for now

You can adjust the grid size in most launchers, I use Apex Pro, and have no size issues, I use a 11x9 grid , which is more than the stock launcher, everything works fine ...
Also be sure to change the Margin size, makes a difference if using a higher density grid ..
Nova launcher Prime is the best.
Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE
Team Venom Viper4G 2.0.2
Nova Launcher Prime
Beautiful Widgets
Evilz Kernel
+1 Nova Launcher! Tried Apex but had some problems.
Apex launcher has just been optimised for the nexus 10 and is great. I have it combined with the paranoid android ROM and I'm back to classic tablet experience.

I like Apex Launcher.
Just curious if people prefer stock or a replacement launcher?

Nova.
I used ROM Cleaner to remove the sense launcher.
Ha I was also wondering this. Was just about to ask and saw this thread. I was wanting to make a sleek simple homescreen and someone said I couldn't change icons with stock launcher.
How easy is it to switch back and forth between launchers?
As easy as installing from the play store and running it.

But would it keep all the settings. Like could you set up two different launchers and have them set the way you want. Then just feel like going to a different look one day just because you feel like it lol.
Yes. A launcher is just an app like any other app. Settings get saved.
Nova, have used it since I got my Galaxy S2. Love it easy backup/restore change icons individually, and more!
Just installed Nova Launcher and gotta say its pretty cool. Here's what I created. Just two questions. Can nova launcher make the status bar clear? And I used simple text to change icons on the dock but it has black background behind the words. Can I make that clear somehow.
I use apex launcher and as nova
It's amazing, I had no trouble changing plenty of phones while keeping my layout

ive been a nova user for quite sometime , however ive been using stock on the one.
Guess im the only one who actually likes and uses blinkfeed =]

Action Launcher - allows minimalist approach, very fast to select apps. And Blink Feed app from appstore switches back into sense launcher so I can go back and forth.
Apex
This may be the perfect place to post this:
Does anyone know of a launcher (or can creat one) that is JUST the Sense 5 app drawer?
i.e: unlock your phone, and hit the app drawer button: THAT is ALL I want to see.

I've always liked the stock launchers over Nova, Apex, etc. Although I did enjoy them on CM roms on the One X when I had it. Usually I'm not a fan of stock Android. I've always much preferred the manufacturer skins.
I love sense 5 too much to switch

Man, $15 seems kinda steep for that.
So I just flashed the ported X-Note rom and I love everything about it except I can't get my widgets to go across the whole screen since apparently it is a modded TW launcher set for 5x4. A post in the forum said to download SecLauncher4.apk and I did but it also had other instructions that I did not know how to follow. Thanks for any help !!!

Install the Nova Launcher, you can set the number of widgets in the desktop, app drawer, and dock. Its very easy to set up, with more features and the ability to bring widgets from TW launcher over to Nova launcher.
Thanks ilk give that a try. Any idea on why the YouTube App FC's in the ROM?
