Search PhilZ kernel on XDA.Then download the XWLSD version.be sure it's a ".zip" file, and it says"signed".Put this file (w/o extract)on your external SD card. The reboot into recvery, choose"install update from external storage or something similar",and then install the downloaded file. Now you are rooted, without a yellow triangle.

[Q] Help Please, Is my phone Rooted ?

Hi All,
I tried install some firmware from Samfirmware, now my phone is currently sitting at ;
------------------------------------------------------------------
Android-version: 2.3.5
Basebandversion: I9100XXKI4
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7.I9100XWKI8-CL616395 [email protected] #2
Compile number: GINGERBREAD.XWKI8
------------------------------------------------------------------
I cannot get Market Enabler or anything to work now, does this mean my phone is no longer rooted. If so, how do I get it rooted again with this firmware?, do I need to install another full firmware set or is there a root kernel available.
OR, do I just need to do something else to enable the rooting process ?
Cheers Guys....

Flashing ICS from different country

I got my S II from UK and below is the info
Baseband: I9100XXKI1
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468 [email protected]#2
Build: GINGERBREAD.XWKI4
I installed the market enabler today and it screwed up my sdcard partition (android can't see either internal SD and external SD card)
Therefore, I want to upgrade my gingerbread SII to ICS while doing a complete wipe.
Here are some questions before I want to proceed
1. Can I simply flash the ZSLPE version to my phone? ZSLPE is Hong Kong version, and my phone is UK one. I know that I may not be able to get any update from Kies later on, it's okay for me. I just want to get rid of all those bloatware on my current ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549466
2. If answer to question 1 is yes, then do I flash with this method?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406664
Thanks for all the help.
hello,
just curious if your goal is to have a rom that has the bloatware removed why don't you root your phone and install a custom rom that has the bloatware removed among many other improvements? Answer to part of your first question as far as i know there is no problem with flashing roms from other countries as long as it has the language you need (shouldn't be a problem) and it's the right rom for your device that being said i am not an expert
rooting method i used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

Help needed please

Hey guys,
I'm a real noob at roms, rooting etc but i followed a tutorial on Youtube which lead me to root my phone using Odin and Superoneclick. I have no idea what this did as i didn't notice a difference on my phone but now ICS is released for my Galaxy SII which is TmobileUk branded. However, when i check on Kies, it says New Firmware Is Available but when i click Firmware Upgrade button then nothing happens. When I click Firmware upgrade and initialization under tools i get the error GT-I9100 does not support initialising. When reading on forums i found out this is because of me rooting so i searched on how to unroot Galaxy S2 but everything comes up with Unroot and installing Stock Kernal etc but i am not sure if i have installed a kernal but i can remember i put XWKDD file in ODIN.
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9100BOKF1
Kernal Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.BOKF3
and i have no MOD VERSION which i fugured is for a rom.
When typing *#1234# i get these versions:
PDA: I9100BOKF3
PHONE: I9100BOKF1
CSC: I9100TMUKF1
I have read some posts and found UK Tmobile have BOKF3 etc from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
but i do not know what todo with it.
Also i just installed an app called Ginger Unroot which has unrooted my phone so if i need to root or do anything can you explain please and will any of the steps wipe my phone (apps, data etc)
I really need this help
Thanks in advance
RE
Im real desperate
What most people do one they root their phones is install ROMs based off of the official release. It's like getting the release, and guaranteeing root access. I think that's a better way. You have more freedom. Otherwise, you can upgrade and pray that Samsung doesn't release something that breaks your rooting capabilities. Check the forums for a ROM based off if the official OTA update and install that. If you have a custom recovery installed, (Which you should have if you rooted correctly) add far as I know, the update won't work.
Sent from my Sensation 4G using XDA
Use thanks if I've helped you
RE
Hey there thanks for replying Can i find out if i have a custom rom or kernal as i dont know but i did unroot by an app called Ginger Unroot and checked with basic root checker which confirmed that i no longer have root access but the error still comes up. So if an OTA Update is released, then can I download that?

actually, for installing custom roms you really dont need to bother about your firmware details only your device make and model
unless you need to flash stock roms
if you are not rooted then search for siyah kernel(safest way to start) and flash it via odin
you can find the details in the forum
then flash the custom rom via recovery
