[Q] mhl mirror issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a galaxy s2 rooted with pacman 4.1.2 rom. I have a samsung monitor so I have a mhl direct connect straight to the monitor.
My problem is that when I connect the phone it will only show videos and some apps, but wont mirror at all while in menus or some apps. It usually shows a frozen image of what was first on the screen the instant it was connected but nothing after that.
am I able to get a full mirror of my phone to my monitor? is there something I can change or an app that will help?
(thanks in advance... ive spent the last few days trying to research this problem!)

You need to use a stock ROM for full mhl support as Samsung refuses to give us exynos source code. If you want an aosp style stock ROM, then try chameleon look at my signature for link

that's a real shame, only downside i've found from using custom roms so far.
so I should just choose any samsung base ROM???
thanks for your advice!

Yep you can use any ROM with Samsung base. Its worth looking at xposed framework as well it allows for stock ROMs to be modded with no flashing and a particularly interesting module is the per app DPI one

[Q] Updating from KI3, where to?

Hi guys,
I have been using in a more or less satisfying way the mentioned ROM, [wrong]KI5[/wrong] AHEM, KI3, under the darkyrom modification. I didn't quite like the glowy stuff, but anyway. I would like to have an upgrade, since I've read there are way newer versions already (gosh this moves fast!). So far I'm rather satisfied, but the contacts bother me a lot. I get a lot of FC whenever I try to modify anything within the contacts. So I want to change the ROM and (hopefully) get rid of the issue. I am currently doing a Titanium backup and CWM backup. So my questions go as follows:
1: If I chose Cyanogenmod, would I have any problem? I mean, I have root from CF-root if I'm not mistaken, and then now running darky rom. Is there any step I should follow, or can I just do an update.zip?
2: If I chose any other ROM (preferably the less customized possible, I basically go with GO Launcher and that's it), which one is the most recommended/stable etc? I prefer if it looks more android stock than touchwiz anyway.
PS: Does MHL work already on cyanogenmod?

All the information you need and more is available in the CyanogenMod 7 (w/ Gingerbread 2.3.7) for Galaxy SII Q&A thread, just follow the instructions in the first post carefully.
All the stock ROMs are in the [ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8, KJ1/2 Download thread. If you don't want a stock ROM, browse through the rest of the ones on offer.

Q: What are the known issues?
A: Issues that I can remember:
- Video playback - some formats are not recognized, use an alternative app for video playback
- Camera - some modes don't work
- TVout, MHL
- FMRadio
- Issues when using the 2G/3G-Switch
- Volume issues (some report too high, others too low)

Thank you for the listing, I already saw it. It's fully stock, so I wasn't interested.
I also wanted an update on the situation of cyanogenmod which actually you gave me, so thank you.
But I also wanted recommendations of people, to see what ROMs they consider stable.
I would like to be able to modify both the icons and the off-screen animation so it looks like stock android (not touchwiz). Everything else I would like to keep it...So what would you recommend me?
So many ways to go...
Cm7 nightly looks good. Still waiting for release so if FCs are a problem you might not like it. I only got a few anyway but still.
Stock samsung is still best for me. Add jkay mods for sure will give you great themes and New lock screens and nice system features like CRT.
Go launcher ex
Go sms pro
Go contacts ex
All good and themed.
Good luck.

[Q] Which ROM is most active and support HDMI tv output?

I updated to ics since the very first leaked offical version and have no time till now. I find the version lagging and also the scrolling bug so now i have some time I wanted to reinstall a new ROM.
Which ICS ROM supported TV output? Seen most of the ROM description and none stated whether it works for tv output or not My internet is slow and just waiting for it to download can take 2hrs for one ROM.
I dont really understand what it mean by original android development and android development but I assume one is from a clean ASOP while another one is from stock rom. So i download one from each but turned out both tv output doesnt work. When I plug it into the tv the screen appear but the screen on the tv "hangs" there even when I am doing on my phone.
This is the two I tried:
[Rom][AOKP-B40](AROMA+OTA)[01/07]Resurrection Remix ics v2.5.2[4.0.4]
[ROM][4.0.4] PARANOIDANDROID v1.5a [CM9HYBRID][25/06/2012]
Still downloading
[ROM][LPF]FOXHOUND Revolver Ocelot|ICS|OTA|Performance|AROMA|31 May and it's still 1hr plus more to completed.
Can anyone kindly tell me whether this rom supported TV output?
Been searching for rom and the comments of each rom for around 3hrs plus le.
Hope some one can reply asap, thanks for your reply

I'm struggling to find the "I'm with stoopid" smiley, can you help?
CM9 does not currently support TV-out on the I9100, the one thing the OP specifically asked for. At worst you'll get a static image/no output, at best you'll get something when playing back videos only.
Now i know. Sorry.
Only stock Samsung has working tv output but all stock roms should work. If the rom is CyanogenMod or AOKP or AOSP or MIUI it will not work.

TeamViewer Quick Service for Samsung Devices

Hello,
TeamViewer announced today that they released an app called "TeamViewer QS (Quicksupport)" for Android. However, it only works on Samsung Galaxy devices running an official Samsung Firmware (So no Galaxy Nexus). It also won't work on any other Galaxy device not running a Samsung Firmware (I tried with CM10 on my 7510). I just thought i let you guys know, maybe there's some way to make it work on more devices.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.quicksupport.market.samsung
https://www.facebook.com/teamviewer
Why this application is only available on the Samsung? I hope you manage to run this program on any device with Android
I assume it uses some touchwiz functions or APIs. Teamviewer noted in their facebook comments that they would love to bring this to more phones/manufacturers but that they would need support from them to implement it. As pointed out, it doesn't run on the Galaxy Nexus (which is stock Android) or on my Galaxy Tab with CM/AOKP/AOSP as these also do not use touchwiz.
i tried the app today:
worked with my SGS3 with Omega v12 Rom
but not on my SGT with InParis v5 Rom

I think the "inParis v5 ROM" is HC 3.1 based isn't it? If so, that would support my guess, as 3.1 was stock Android as well.
people have gotten this to work on CM based Roms for SGS II, SGS III, I have not gotten it to work on my GTAB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836780
EDIT: It works. Download the armv7 zipfile, install it via CWM and then drop this lib into /system/lib

Huh... you want a rom built by samsung but that has absolutly nothing samsung made in it? Not sure how's that even possible
There's only 2 ways to go, from what i understand:
- for absolutly nothing related with samsung your best bet is any rom compiled (and modded) from google sources like CM10, aokp, slimbean, etc
or
- any samsung based rom with those aroma setups that allow for the removal of just about anything before installing. In this sense you'll be good with just about any rom you pick since all seem to have it But you'll still have samsung stuff in it since they built it, not sure if there's how to go round that

Didn't you already ask this question in the Wanam v13 thread?
Twice?
EDIT to add: I also did a search for "MHL" in that thread, and in addition to your two posts, there are over 20 other posts either inquiring about MHL and whether or not it works, and a large number of posts that report that it DOESN'T work on this ROM.
If you want MHL be guaranteed to work, flash a stock Samsung firmware. Custom ROMs will have varying degrees of this functionality - some will work partially, some will work completely. But only a stock Samsung firmware is guaranteed to work with 100% certainty, barring hardware issues.

Ok, thanks , sorry for asking a lot but i could not get a straight answer till now (did not find what you have about it not working on Wanam)
But, isn't there some kind of patch or something to make it work even on custom ROM? can anyone help with it?
Thanks

Just flash another ROM and see if it's a wanam issue.
As some of the posters mentioned it is a rom related thing.
MHL will usually only work with Samsung based roms. I can confirm that XXLSJ Biftor 4.7 JB and NeatROM 4.1 XXLS8 both work with MHL.
I've had some other roms in the past work but I they're not JB as you are requesting.
Some roms will not do the mirroring but work with video only.
no wanam for the OP.
Or no MHL.
Or whatever.
