I had a SanDisk Ultra 64g sd card in my s3 for about 8 months, and yesterday it suddenly stopped recognising it. I formatted it with the phone, still the same. I tried to format it with my pc and it's still broken.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal?
Yes there is some error with SanDisk cards. They have even released fixed cards. Ur card must be class 10 card.
Just call their customer care. They will get your card replaced.

I bought a new 16GB Class 10 micro-SDHC card and put it in my phone. Every time I lock my phone and unlock it, I get a notification message that the "SD Card was unexpectedly removed" and then it says "Preparing SD Card...". The card appears readable after that. I tried reformatting the card on the phone but it hasn't fixed the issue. Is anyone else seeing this? Suggestions to fix it are much appreciated!
Not sure if this will help but it can't hurt. I'd try formatting the card with SDFormatter which I'll link below. It could be that it needs to be formatted properly. Sounds like it's more a hardware issue though from what you're saying but again, doesn't hurt to try.

What brand card is it. Some companies have big time inconsistencies throughout. It might be a bad card.

It is the AmazonBasics 16 GB microSDHC Class 10 Flash Memory Card.
I tried putting the card into a friend's AT&T Galaxy S2 and he gets the same error. Then I had another friend who has a Sprint Galaxy S2 try it and this time no error messages. Strange that this card has issues only on the AT&T version...
I will try the formatting using the sdcard.org tool later today.
I have the same card and I have no issues.

Cheap class10 cards are notorious for flakiness and compatibility issues...
I returned the card and bought a new 32GB PNY Class 10 card and that works just fine. Thanks for all the ideas!
Using this same card with no issues.
Is anyone else having the issue where the SD Card randomly unmounts itself and then remounts? I have already wiped and reformatted the card with the Note2 but the issue is still present. any solutions or answers?
I have the Tmobile version, but I have the same issue. I even did a full format of the card on my pc, but it made no difference. The card sort of works, but sometimes instead of the 'preparing sd card' I get the 'blank or unrecognized file system', and then I have to wait for the phone to go to sleep. It will usually wake up and recognize the card then, but all links to files on the card are broken. FYI, my card is a SanDisk 32GB Class 4. I tried an older 8GB card and did not have the issue, but then again, my 32GB card worked for a month with no issues. Very perplexed.

I have a Sandisk Ultra 32GB card. I only have music on it which I've only tested out a couple times, but never had this issue pop up at any point. Perhaps it is the format of the card? I do not remember reformatting mine before putting stuff on it. If you can, try testing another card or putting yours in another device to see if it's the card itself.
I had a 32GB Class 6 Sandisk Ultra, which was also used and worked perfectly in my GS3.
I went to my verizon store had my phone replaced.. threw the SD card back in, and it still had the issue. Put a normal 16 GB SD card in it, haven't had the issue yet. So I guess somewhere in the process of switching between my GS3 and the Note2 the card somehow got corrupted or broke??
Looks like I'll be buying a 64GB class 10 card soon lol

I have the s3 for T-Mobile so hope this is the right forum. I have a SanDisk mobile ultra 64gb sd card. Everything was working fine until I took the card out and put it in the mytouch 4g. The mytouch mounted the card and gave a message saying the card is damaged. I took the card and put it back in the s3 and I got the same message on there. I now the card is not damaged. When the card was brand new and empty the mytouch would not recognize it as 64 gb but only 28gb or so. When I put it in the s3 I just formatted it and it showed up just fine. I also put the card in a tablet and a Windows pc nothing seems to read the card anymore. I have about 40gb of data on there and I need to read it. PLEASE someone tell me how to do this I really need the data from it. All I did is put the card in a different phone this should not wipe my data or damage my card. Ill take any advice thank you

I have a 64gb class 10 Kingston sd card.
Sometimes I get an sd card error.
It can work for days without errors or I get an error per day.
After rebooting my phone the sd card works again.
Is there something wrong with the sd card or the phone?

ive had the same problem to a point it corrupted my sd card
honor knows its a bug yet refuse to notice it
will guess your on marshmallow?
Before i updated to MM i had a 32gb class 10 and had no problem with it. Upgraded to MM to find that it would constantly reject my card stating that it is corrupt even after various formats and even a factory reset. Replaced it with a 64gb card of the same make and speed and never had a problem so far. I placed the 32gb card in my tesco hudl tablet and its never caused a problem so far. I'm guessing the phone was just being a bit picky with what card i used.
Which brand sd card are you using now?
And yes, using MM.

Stick to Samsung or SanDisk. Don't want any other brand and never had a single problem with any (many) device.
Has any one had issues with types of SD card this device takes? I've put in a 16 gig class ten sandisk ultra SD card and it works fine. I recently bough a 128gig SD card integral Class 10 and after a couple of hours of working fine it comes up with SD card removed. Ive sent the card back and got a new 128 gig card but the same happens. I have read this phone can support 256gig so is there a certain type of card it needs? The card works fine in a PC.
Any help would be great.
Cheers

Late reply but I've only had mine a week and it does the same. I suspect it doesn't like SDXC cards in certain speeds...testing is ongoing.
OK.Here. Using a 265gb SD card.
Did you Format it using the Phone ?
And did you remount it after. ?
