Anyone know if the sound made when typing on Blackberry 10 devices can be used in the same way for Android devices?
>>Faultyy, I've been wondering the same thing ever since BB OS 10 came out -- that key tap sound is so satisfying to listen to, I really want to use it on my Android keyboard. Gonna continue trawling Google to see if someone's managed to extract the sound file....
GOT IT - downloaded the BlackBerry OS 10 developer kit, ran an app on the device simulator, captured the keypress audio using Audio Hijack Pro as a max quality .WAV file, trimmed and adjusted volume, saved as .OGG file, and here we are!
This .OGG sound file needs to be extracted, and renamed to whatever the stack Android keypress sound file is, which is located in /system/media/audio/ui. For Samsung phones, you need to rename this sound file as "TW_SIP" (without the quotes) and then rename the original sound file to "TW_SIP1" in case you want to go back to the original.

criptyque, I was able to extract and rename but my S4 keyboard still has the horrid typewrite sound. I renamed the original TW_SIP and added_orig to the end just so I could keep it. This did not change the sound after a reboot. Did I miss something? Also, because I am a SwiftKey user and they refuse to add different sounds to their app I'd like to apply the same to SwiftKey. Searching produced 0 results but there is bound to be a way to do this. Why these developers incorporate such irritating sounds is beyond me. Thanks!:good:

Same thing here.
I followed the steps but I still have the same annoying TW key sound.
Any kind help?
Gosh this was nearly two years ago now, please forgive me for I can't remember in great detail the process! But I would have thought that as long as you named the new sound file as TW_SIP.ogg and put that in the folder specified, and obviously had root, it should work after a restart.

Really odd thing
Can any1 help with a better ogg file? The one posted earlier is not like the original.

I've been using a sound clip from one of my favorite old DOS games as a boot sound and I've been very disappointed to find that there is a 7 second limit to PowerOn.wav. The file still plays but only the first 7 seconds. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this limit and how we can disable it?
P.S.
If you're wondering what awesome DOS sounds I've been using I've attached the clip. Betcha can't guess that game.
Mechwarrior
Fixed file to 7 sec for you, deleted the beep at the end and remove a little silence here and there.
File is now only 7 sec long.
NICE team work....I'll drop a thanks just 'cus.
bump would also like to know how to extend poweron.wav limitations

Thanks a lot for your work but the length of the file was never the issue and I'm more than capable of editing audio files. The problem is that the phone only plays the first 7 seconds of the file no mater how long the file is. I want to hear the whole 9 seconds of audio.
I wish I knew how to make it longer then 7 seconds for those of us that do not know does someone mind explaining the process of changing ones boot up sound
In case anyone had any interest in this boot sound I did a little creative editing on it. It now has less static and fits inside the time limit without trimming off the beeps. I also found that the exact time limit is actually 325,000 samples @ 44100 Hz or 7.36 seconds.
great info to know...helped me fix a problem i was having thanks
Where does this go in root explorer?... What directory?

you have to extract the PowerOn.wav file to your system/etc folder.
I have put together a file containing 216 ringtones and 114 notification sounds. The file also contains all the standard Vibrant system sounds. The ringtones and notifications have been pulled from different sources including stock Vibrant, Heathens M9 Clone Alpha, Eugenes Macnut R12, HTC, LG, and Droid X plus one or two others that I forget. Simply unzip the file and copy the included Audio file to your SD. Once there delete the audio file currently in system/media the move then move the new audio file to system/media with Root Explorer or the like. Reboot once to let media scanner do its thing. Again I have included the standard Vibrant sounds that came with your phone, system and all. This way you can just replace the audio file currently on your phone and not end up with any duplicates. Be warned the file is 33Mb. Also the M9 sounds have not been translated and are in either Chinese or Korean
And the standard I am not responsible for bricked phones, your dog leaving you, your wife biting you or the next world war.

Thanks for this!
I was looking for some other notification tones, since I don't really like the ones bundled w/ Axura
Hi,
I like the keyboard click sound of the Windows 7 phone. The sound file is included in the GoKeyboard app. I renamed the apk file to zip and opened. I could see all the images (graphics) used in the application. But, I couldn't find the audio file. Can an audio file be stored somewhere else. How do I find it?
The sound of Windows 7 phone keyboard click is very soft and pleasant. I want to replace my default phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) click sound with the Win 7 sound file.
Or, if anybody already have the audio file of the Windows 7 click audio file, please provide the link where I can find it.
Thanks.

Google for the sound. Am sure it has been uploaded somewhere.
It's quite possible that the audio is a midi sequence generated live if you couldn't find it or it might be in res. It's also possible that the audio was downloaded after you installed the app and stored somewhere else.
If you couldn't find it in apk, it would be pretty hard to search everywhere else unless you have a clean phone.
Just Google for the sound. Am sure someone else has uploaded it.
They're in/ assets/keysounds

How to decode
I've got some rare mp3 sound files with good meditation inside apk. Extracted them with apktool but they looks encoded somehow. How to encode them to make them listenable? If anybody know please help!
Hi. I'd really like to know if there is a way of changing the stock "touch sound" on the s3. I think its quite annoying and would love to be able to change it. Is there an app or anything?
Thanks.

Nope, since you need to mount your system position as writeable

SGS3 Sounds won't play - DETAILS ???
This does NOT work as easy as described, i've done it properly.
There has to be some definite soundfile description (stereo,
mono, datarate etcetc) Normal rate, mono/stereo is a no go!!!
I converted sounds (wave to ogg), uploaded them (via root etc)
and exchanged them the original sounds. Thing is, they just do
NOT play back. I did a conversion with a standart program,
files are .ogg ..Mono or Stereo does not matter. Won't play.
Actually to be able to exchange/overwrite the original sounds
IT might be a good idea to just rename them. (after deleting
the non playing copied sounds and renaming the originals
to their standart name, all standart sounds play back again.)
That is for:S_HW-Touch.ogg + TW_Touch.ogg + PowerOn.ogg
UPDATED:
The original system sounds of the SGS3 4.1.1 are in stereo
format at 44khz. That's for the BLUAAAB sound and the start
chime KLOOOAAAANG (..naahh, that was the windows thing)
Lame Update:
LAME-Update 2:
Even when using the original soundfile, silencing the sound
with an editor, mixing a new sound "over it" ..which leaves
the original soundfile size AND saving it with the same name
with the same datarate in the same stereo-format ..SOUNDS
won't play back. THAT IS LAME. Also very lame of the super
soundesigners at Samsin IS that all files are in stereo. The
startsound is 80k (stereo) but could have been 40 (in mono).
It's a very lame concept. the phone has ONE mono speaker.
Also lame are the SGS3 sounds, come on. That's all stupid.
Please, I use OPSSON D1S, MT6572.
After reading a thread on xda about increasing the camera quality of your droid, I wanted to edit it but I couldn't, so I was searching through my fone with root explorer, I then came across an audio in system/media, named bootaudio.mp3 and shutaudio.mp3.
I presume both to be startup and shutdown tone.
So I ask, can I change both and how do I.
I hv already a trimmed MP3 to use to replace them.
Thanks in advance
