[Q] [Hardware] Headset jack layout - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings! I have a generic headset with microphone and a button wtich I use on my SGS. Since the sound was pretty nice for a generic brandless headset, I bought one for my friend which has a SGA s5830i and I was surprised that it didn't work as it should. I installed stereo test (app that plays left or right channel on a device) and I was confused when "Front Left" and "Front Right" sounds were coming out of both earphones. I thought that the headset is broken, but I swapped the headset and the problem remained - both headsets work fine on my SGS, while both don't on the SGA s5830i. We tried a call with our headsets and what happened was rather odd. My friend heared me only from the left earphone, while I was hearing myself speaking on my phone, with or without headset. It seems to me that the layout for left, right and mic are not the same for SGS and SGAi. The SGAi is using Simplicity v5 but I'm not sure if it's a rom problem or hardware is just different. Tried searching the forums and google but I didn't find any info on this problem at all. Does anybody know if the problem lies within hardware and I should look for another headset or try changing the rom? Thanks in advance!

Headphone with built in mic nightmare!

Hi guys,
I recently lost my Shure SE420's and have upgraded to a set of Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Vi IEM's. I bought the 'Vi' version as it has a built in mic for handsfree and a button to answer/hang up. The box said for iphone and blackberry compatible but I assumed the x10 would have no worries as its the same 3.5mm jack.
Turns out I cannot use them as the button appears to be inverted for the x10 / Android, ie its permanently in 'hang up' position. Tring to make a call immedialty displays 'call ended', but if I hold the button down it allows me to call out and releasing it hangs up.
Listening to music is terrible, it sounds robotic and keeps chopping the sound, but when the button is pressed it works fine.
Tested the headphones on my old HTC Touch HD (wm6.5) and a friends iphone and they work perfectly so appears to be an android / x10 issue. The only work around to listen to music is using a 3.5mm extender which doesnt use the mic (one less connection on the jack)
Is there something ive missed in the settings or does anyone know a workaround? Its driving me nuts!
Thanks
its because the wires dont go to the same conections in the x10 compared to the iphone, if you know what i mean. there is no setting because they are hard wired. if you are good with that sort of thing you could make an adapter, afaik that would work but its a lot of hassle.
Does anybody have a headphone with build in mic that actually works on the X10?
yea my stock sony headset that came with the x10 have built in mic and they work fine....

Really? What model headphones are those? The ones I got with my X10 came with an extension remote/microphone that you can use with any headphones, but the extension makes the cables too long so I'm looking for heaphones with the microphone build in.
I tested my Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Vi on an EVO before I bought mine and they worked great. They also worked until around the time of the latest OTA update. Now they don't control music or answer phone calls. I highly doubt the headphones broke but I ordered a replacement cable just in case so hopefully that's it but I suspect they broke something with the update.
Hi! I was wondering of an app that can live monitor my voice on my omnia, in other words I want to hear my voice on the headset so I can connect my phone with an amplified loudspeaker and hear my voice live (without delays) in the loudspeaker. Is that possible? That wold be cool, turn your phone into a speaker system. Please if you can do a reserach and give me an answer, thank you!
mic in headphone jack?
So, does the X10 have the 4 connector-type of headphone jack? Mono headphone jacks have only two conductor areas separated by an insulator; stereo headphone jacks have a third zone; and there are some devices that use a fourth zone adding a presumably mono mic to the mix.
I've been thinking Bluetooth is the only way to add a mic to the X10.
I have one of these mic/headphone combos for my ipod (for skype) and it does the same thing with my X10. I found that if I plugged it in the X10, then pulled it out by about 2-3mm, it worked fine for audio and microphone, but the button would be inactive. Best workaround I can think of.
the original headphone with mic is the best, don`t need to change it
wow so now my skullcandy's w/mic decide to work on pandora radio..
I found this adapter, which might be a fix for the hard-wiring. It's called "FiiO LU1 smart adaptor cable converter".
I am also looking for a wired headset (not in-ears). I know the one from Koss iPorta Pro isn't working.
Today, I found this other one, pretty cool, which claims to be working for most sonyericsson phones: Cresyn C550S black.
Not sure if the adapter is needed though. Maybe it would fix the problem with the
Let me know if you are using any nice wired headphone with mic that is working with x10!

[Q] 3.5" Headphones

Hi.
This is my first Samsung so, have mercy
None of my headphones are working.
I only get sound in one side and the other is too low. Almost inexistent.
I tried with cable to connect it to my audio system and the same.
Next step was to use the hands free from my X10.
Is working ... but not as expected. Almost no bass and no trebles.
The only ones working are the ones from the SGS2 box or using my headphones via MW600 bluetooth (which i don't like it as it drains more batter and the SGS2 is power hungry)
So, is a problem with the 3.5" ?
Or my headphones?
Or ... is a compatibility problem? Can i find somewhere an 3.5" adapter?
Thanks
Its gonna sound dumb but u have plugged the jack all the way in yeah? Takes a little bit more force than u think

Worked with other headsets for me
- Dell streak headset
-Iphone headset
Needed that extra push to fit the pin in really well
Well, i'll try one more time ... anyway, earlier i found something else using the X10 headset.
If i press the "answer" button from headset, everything is fine but as soon as is de-pressed ... it goes back.
I have a similar problem with my expensive Shure earphones. They sound much worst and "tinny" then the standard earphones that come with the S2. Even if these earphones are cheap, at least the sound is acceptable.
If I plug the output of the S2 into my car stereo, I again have terrible sound. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that the stock S2 earphones have 4 contacts on the jackplug as compared to 3 on normal jackplugs. The extra contact, I presume, is to permit the switch for fast forward to work on the headphones.
I can't understand why other people don't have this problem - and yes the jack plug is pushed right in.
Yep, pretty sure, the jack is down entirely and still not working.
I tried with the SE X10 headset and normal stereo headphones
I think i will have to stick with the bluetooth if i can't find an adapter of some sorts.

headphones problems samsung galaxy ace

hello...i don't know if it was discussed this problem before, but i just try to resolve headphone problems for my phone...i have the samsung galaxy ace from 2 weeks ago and the problem is : when i connect the headphone (i was trying 3 headphones till now and it was the same problem),the sound is very low,is distorted,it's like in a box,the voices is not hearing...if i keep pressing the play button from the headphone, the sound is better. i read something like "if enter in service mode,on the "audio tab" you can change something", i try,but the "audio tab" from the service mode is the only one which is NOT openning...i don't know what to do next...any idea ?
I have the same problem, the sound with headphones are really low, but i was using Nokia headphones because of microphone. When the button was pressed to take call sound was good, so I just glued it with super glue, now I can listen music at right volume... just cant answer calls!
) nice one .. yes,it's an idea, but i thought that someone knows what is the real problem...maybe is the soft of the phone, maybe is needed some kind of headphones

I've used some el-cheapo Sony headphones from Argos and they're much better quality. Will have to ask my GF to try her Skullcandy headphones and see how they are. But otherwise I'm not one to spend much more than £30 on a pair of headphones, especially when the jacks tend to get screwed up in my pocket.
I've noticed some distortion with my Sony's: sometimes the audio goes quite quiet then loud, repetitively. I'm almost positive it's the custom ROM - Fla.sh v1.

I'm using the Logitech Musicman (or men , whatever) and it performs more than I had expected .
For my Equaliser I'm using Equalizer 3.1.3 (I think)
So do all 3 connection headphones work OK?
Is it just the 4 connection that make the sound go out-of-phase/cancel out?
I do like the galaxy s phones for quality especially with voodoo sound. Surely Samsung could fix this so that the 4 connector headphones are interchangeable??!

Im using Shure SE102 earphones - on low volume you can hear clearly without distortion, on full volume - it not loud enough to get me remove the headphone also no distortion.
Maybe the socket is designed to chuck out a low impedance and phase variance.
I have also used the 5.1 channel button on the music player that comes with Fla.shX2.2 rom and thats works beautifully.
no, the headphones was not specially for samsung (and specially for galaxy ace i didn't find ) 2 are from nokia and one i don't know from where, but i thought that if they have 3.5 jack should work...it seems that i thought wrong ... i will try something from samsung,or have you some recommendation ?
finnaly i solve the problem with Panasonic RP-HS46...not so expensive, but very good sound,bass,etc..
I had exactly the same problem. Tried my old nokia headset, a noname, and a Philips headset. All had the problem of poor quality, and way better when the button was pushed.
The solution:
The I changed to a Philips headset specifically designed for IPHONE and it all of the sudden worked well. Phone now recognizes the headset and the phone is acting on the button.
From my reading I understand that the pins are a bit swapped for iphone, so somehow for my ace it is the same as the iphone pinning.
yes..one of my problems was that i tried some samsung headset...i don't remember exactly the name...after that i was thinking that is a problem with my phone till i tried that Panasonic headset...have not microphone, but i don't needed because i use it just for music

Disconnecting problem with Sennheiser mm30i and Klipsch s4i

Hello
I wonder has anyone experieced this problem below?
I have a pair of Sennheiser mm30i and also pair of Klipsch s4i, both with inline mic and button control. What happen is, when there is an incoming call and when I use the control button to accept the call, the headphones (both of them) disconnect. I have to unpluy and re-plug the headphones. But if I slide the screen to accept the call OR using auto answer fuction, everything is just fine i.e. they don't disconnect and I can alo use the button to end the call. I have use both of the headphones on my S2 and they are fine also.
The above doesn't happen with the stock headphones.
My S3 is stock and I have messed around with any files.
Please could somebody kindly provide some suggestions.
Thanks
Ron
Well, for the S4i Klipsch, I currently owe the basic S4 and encountered no problems, but the S4i are designed to be iPhone compatible.
Another version of the S4 does exist for Android. So it might be that even if it used to work on your old S2.
The same goes for you other headset, once more Apple compatible but no instruction for Android device.
Maybe the differences between S2 and S3's hardware make your headphone unable to take a call.
But it's good point for me, I planned to buy a new headset with mic So by helping you out, I'm saving myself from buying the wonrg one.

Thank you for thre reply.
It is strange that the central button works for volume adjustment, next trrack etc using the Headset button control app and Jays apps.
There are differencies betweek controlling the music player and the dialer
But as the stock headset works well, the jack port seems to be good and none faulty.
Anyway for 80$ the headset, they could make them to be iOS/Android compatible at least ...
not sure about ios , they seem to be in their little own world
In their little revolutionized world, i'd say

Phone won't recognize my headphone's mic and buttons (volume-play music)

Hi!
I'm having some strange issues reggarding the use of headphones.
Recently I bough a pair of Razer Hammerhead pro v2 headphones from a retailer. They are brand new, and work just fine in other cellphones (Motorola or LG) and even my computer.
But, as it turns out, they do not work properly on my phone.
Let me elaborarte: I already have a pair of Philips headphones with a dedicated play/stop music button and microphone, and they work just fine with the cellphone. But, whenever I plug my new headphones on the phone, the "headphones with mic" icon shows once on my notification screen and then just banishes, leaving me with an icon that looks like a pair of "regular headphones", not recognizing the mic. or buttons.
I've read some people online experiencing the same issue as me. And, even though you can ACTUALLY hear a conversation or music with the headphones, the mic. and buttons just don't work. Is almost as if they were non existent to the phone.
I've already tried different apps that allow you to mock you cellphone to bypass this issue, but they don't work.
Any suggestions?

AGREE. Also, if you can check that if you keep pressing the handsfree jack down, the mic works???

Yeaj, I tried that already but it doesnt work. And it wont work because I think that this is a MIUI related problem.
Any suggestions?
My mic works if I keep the handsfree jack at a certain position or keep pressing it. May be it's a hardware problem or handsfree problem. Who knows!!!

My issue is SOLVED.
Turns out there was dust settled down in the jack.
SOLUTION: Take an ear bud, dip it in petrol and clean the headphone jack with it.
Thanks for your thread as it helped me in getting to the root cause of the problem :good:

I've already tried that one, and had no ressult. I cleaned it as soon as I got the problem, but it keeps happening
So for me, the problem is still ongoing
As I stated before, I can hear my headphones, but both mic. And buttons don't work.
Try using a different recording app and or music player, see if that helps.
