Hi people,
This is not my work, I just make this thread for people that not aware of Gandhar's amazing work on JB camera, so choose the file for CM10.1 or CM10, then flash it in recovery, after flash it I wiped cache & dalvik, but I think it's not necessary, anyway if something doesn't work just make those wipes. Enjoy.
Known bugs are:
Panorama & HDR only works on android 4.2
Special thanks of course to:
gandhar

panorama doesn't work on either 4.1 or 4.2.
HDR is confirmed to work on cm-10.1 , not sure about other 4.2 roms.

the camera needs to be absolutely stable while clicking all the 3 photos.
you can google hdr, to see what it does exactly.
Ok HDR is working...
But how to turn it off HDR there is no option of it.
Hmmm..tested on AOKP ROMs, work well but i wish there a preview on the picture were have taken in camera....its a bit annoying that we have to go to gallery just to view/delete what we have taken then go back to camera to take more picture just to get a great picture...back and forth on camera and gallery can take so much time....
Thanks!!!! Works on my Live with walkman cm10

you can swipe right to left in the camera to go to gallery in filmstrip view, then you can swipe down an image to delete it.. its one of the best features of the 4.2 camera according to me.

what do you mean by going to the gallery? you know the shortcut right? you need to swipe from right to left (just like you swipe pictures in gallery to see next picture) to get to the gallery instantly. that's the best part of this camera app for me

Tips for taking better photos
These are a few tips that is quite helpful for you guys to take good photos on your Wildfire.
1. Camera Advance Lite / Camera Advance
-There are a few settings that is quite useful and can apply it really quick.
-Useful settings, E.g: Burst setting, grid, EV, Panorama, reduced noise, OSD ......
-You can apply these setting really quick when you are in a hurry to take a good photos
2. Try not to use Zoom
-Zoom in mobile phones are fake! There are zoom, but not optical zoom and it is just digital zoom.
-If you want to enlarge focus of the photo, just go to gallery and enlarge it.
3. Take several photos instead of one
-Take a few photos and pick the best one to store it.
-Try to take from different angle and choose the best one.
4. Hold your camera steadily
5. Not to use flash
-Try to use EV/ISO to enhance the brightness of photo instead of using flashlight.
Hope these tips is helpful for you guys.
Give me a "Thanks" if this is useful =]

I've never had ANY readability issues with the compression on. I take photos of school timetables and exam schedules all the time.
Edit: Just my opinion - i normally have over 150mb of camera pics already, without compression it would be 250mb-ish.

your computer has a high resolution screen. I was talking about a hypothetical low-res screen, which you obviously dont have - which means that you dont need such high quality casual photographs. I'd rather have the 250% reduction in file size any day.
And I don't think you can fix the video quality easily. It depends on codecs which are built into the phone which I have no idea how to import from a HTC ROM.

[MOD][CAM]GBXperia S|Video 1080p >20mb Bitrate|720p >15mb Bitrate|>100% Image quality
Gingerbread only
Thanks to all the lovely people in the "Root XPS (63 & 67 FW) [Update: 08.03.12]" section I am now able to test my mods and install apps direct to System/app.
As with my previous camera mods this "initial" version increases video 1080p bitrate from 14mbps to 20mbps and 720p from 6mbps(pathetic) to 15mbps.
Also increases Image quality from 90% to some what over 100% by fiddling with the constants array-data and removing the 0x5A cap, image size will be bigger; I'll be able to check images better in the morning during the day.
This version should work with all firmware and roms versions for Gingerbread 2.3.7.
Normal install:
1. Extract the zip files to a folder.
2. Obtain a root file browser like rootexplorer or ES File Explorer.
3. Rename the current files on the phone before replacing.
4. Activate root access via the file browser of choice and copy SemcCameraUI.apk to system/app and media_profiles.xml to system/etc
5. Apply permissions and change owner to match any other file in the same directory for both the above files (06755 and root).
6. Reboot device.
7. Recommend to go into Settings then Applications then manage Applications and find the camera install settings under the All tab and press clear data to restore camera default settings.
ClockworkMod install:
1.Copy the file to your phone, reboot into clockworkmod recovery.
2.Select "install zip", then sip >> sdcard and browse for the file then click and 3.confirm to install.
4.restart your phone as normal.
Seems very smooth with video at these moderately increased levels, will see how high the bitrate goes.
I've tested most of the functions of the app and it should be fairly glitch free, let me know otherwise.
For more info on how I modded these files check my previous mods in my signature below.
Got a few more ideas and as always suggestions welcome.
Edit1:20120314
Seems the media_profiles.xml does have some side effects and i've had a few random force closes with video settings, if you experience this just replace the file with your backup version and restart the phone. I'm looking into this.
Edit2:2012317
New version of the files uploaded, fixed the above issue force closing with video settings.
Edit3:20120320
On comparison it seems the quality of even the 14mbps stock bitrate is extremely good, which says quite alot about the 12mp image sensor used, high praise indeed.
Edit4:20120420
Seems to be a Sony bug with Image stabilization set to on and changing the ISO setting, this actually disables the image stabilization.
Found on the Sony Xperia forums this is currently being looked at by Sony for a fix

Yes tho the audio is already quite good at 128kpbs x 48khz in stereo, what sound quality would you prefer?
@ Solid Eye what other options did you want that the SGS2 had?
-smc
@ Jozinek tho i haven't had too much of an issue with it, the stabilization feature could be alot better in my opinion.
Also the video format profile is only [email protected] which doesn't allow for CABAC compression, might be able to change this if i find the profile code in the app.
The default-capability.xml file in the system/etc folder shows different format profiles which we may be able to play around with like H264 [email protected] at least which supports CABAC.

You are writing on a dev thread not a FAQ thread, learn to read and accept what comes when you don't read. Also stop caps and learn what netiquette is.
i gonna keep it short, the post above in red is my first post ever made on xda using caps, it was my 339th post, so pls, spare me your lessons && morals about netiquette.

Yeah good point, i'll be upping the audio and video bitrates soon and see if we still get a consistent framerate, as long as our min framerate stays above 25fps in low light then im happy.

Getting bad pictures?
Choose Low ISO instead of High ISO.
Photon (light particle) absorption for camera sensor is based on : Aperture, ISO, and Shutter speed. Since our phones are having fixed aperture (f/2.4 for 8MP device, f/2.6 for 5MP device), I'm not going to discuss about aperture. So, it is purely about the balancing of ISO and Shutter speed here. High ISO = High light sensitivity = More photons will be detected. But high ISO will introduce noise. The camera sensor in our phone is small, therefore even in low ISO, noise is present. After the denoise process, it will leave artifacts, making the image less appealing. At high ISO, shutter speed is high. At low ISO, shutter speed is low (needs more time to absorb same amount of photons). Low shutter speed can be a problem as the image might blur due to handshake. Keep your phone steady when using low ISO mode!
Ray vs EOS 1100D, the difference is big, even in low ISO. Don't expect such small sensor to do magic.
Turn off Super SteadyShot (Image Stabilizer)
When Super SteadyShot is turned on, the shutter will be forced at a higher speed to prevent motion blur and handshake. As a result, high ISO will be used to absorb the same amount of photons, which introduces noise.
Lowlight (Forced to use high ISO, as shutter speed is maxed out)
No choice, but to convert the image into black and white. The noise will give a grainy effect, which is nice in black and white picture. :good:
Gallery
Camera on our devices is pretty decent to do casual snapshots! Don't blame on gear, it is the skill that matters. Happy photographing!

MDPI?
Anyway, try the apk below :
Gonna test it on Active within an hour.
Reporting back after testing...
Everything works on Active but it looks rather stupid...
Some icons are mixed up, some icons are wrong size...
It's not easy to use cuz of that.
Here are some screen's.
Active doesn't have 6MP and so...
If you need Active frameworks or something, you can always use ROM's provided by dev's

Which apk you used? MDPI or MDPI_test1?
Anyway, thanks for trying out. The problem is I don't have a MDPI device here .
Wondering is there any universal MDPI framework, as others mods support all MDPI devices in a single APK.

I used MDPI.
I can test it out when you wan't, just PM me the apk's to test.
I don't think that there's universal framework but when you download almost any ROM with AROMA you can find all frameworks there

Yeah. What ROM you used?
Is _test1 or AIO pack working?
Google just released a new camera app on the play store and it works for every device that has KitKat, have you guys tried it? How are you liking it? Can you still take 4k videos with it? How's the quality of the images? Can you take 16:9 or just 4:3 pictures?

You can only take 4:3 photos with that app......I wouldn't recommend using it.
I think that app is really for nexus 5 users who were (understandably) appalled at the sub-standard cam app that came with that handset.
You'll get the best results with sony's home-grown app. The software algorithms will be optimised for the z2's sensor.
Also, as always, for best results one needs to familiarze themselves with manual control (i.e. ISO and white balance)...which that app completely lacks..... so it's pretty useless for Z2 users in my opinion.
Google's Kitkat camera SUCKS! And it's one of the biggest reasons why I changed my phone.
Does anyone know if the camera app can be installed separately? Because I'm definitely not planning on using the stock ROM any longer than I really have to, but the camera seems really nice.
EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently someone already did the work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2667341
EDIT2: Apparently it only works with the stock ROM *sigh*
Just tried it last night, while it may not be a bad camera app I don't think it fares anywhere near the stock Sony camera. Too limited in functions. It will be great for Nexus users though.

Yeah, that's why I'm afraid of, and it sounds logical, Sony's app will be tailored to the phone, anyway google's camera app was released just yesterday so there's room for improvement, let's hope for the best, I'm sure more options will be added in the future.
By the way you can tweak the white balance, you just need to enable the option on settings (weird )

No no, that's the white balance for the SCREEN.
There is a camera white balance that should be adjusted dependant on what lighting conditions you're shooting in. I haven't seen the Z2's options, but it should have the usual four: Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent & Incandescent.
They actually make a significant difference to the colour tones and how similar to the reality of the scene your shot ends up looking. In my experience phone cameras CAN NOT be trusted to calculate this correctly themselves (and I used to have a lumia 1020!).
Yeah this nexus app will be good for the n5 crowd but you're never going to get as good shots with an app like that (or apple's) without having the ability (and learning) to alter ISO and white balance manually.
Of course in proper photography the shutter speed and aperture are also important but unfortunately it's very hard to control these given the current CMOS limitations in phone implementation.

I'm not sure but maybe you could take 16:9 shots if you decreased the resolution to 8 MP? Like in manual mode, you can only take 4:3 shots in 20.7 MP so I think the app is taking photos with the maximum resolution and that's why it's 4:3

Hey everyone, so decided to release some files I have worked on that gave me excellent night photos and long exposure images from our trusty G2.
First of massive shout out to @defcomg who inspired me and guided me along the way, non of this would be possible without his vast knowledge of working with libs and Android in general!
Download links:
V1 (MM/N (For sure) - try this on LP/Stock it might just work...): https://goo.gl/6qv41c
V2 coming soon (Hopefully it'll be compatible with Stock LG ROMs)
Got a Xiaomi Mi 5s, so this is as far as this mod goes. Cheers
Instructions:
1.) Download file from my Drive
2.) Unzip file so that you have a folder in your main directory called G2NightMod, inside this should be 4 folders
3.) I recommend you download some sort of script executor such as "SH Script Runner" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adamioan.scriptrunner)
4.) Once you are ready open the app (script runner) and navigate to the "G2NightMod/Scripts/" There are a few scripts which I will explain lower in this post
5.) Before running any of my scripts make sure to backup the following files found in /vendor/lib/:
-libmmcamera_imx135.so
-libchromatix_imx135_snapshot.so
-libchromatix_imx135_preview.so
6.) Execute the script you want, depending on your preferences
Explanation of each script:
Now Android Cameras have have a mode called ZSL, which allows fast image capture, however not all apps use it, so I had to make 2 versions, for apps that have it enabled and those that don't.
ResetAll: Resets all files back to stock, therefore no mod involved here
ResetZSL: Resets apps using ZSL back to stock
ResetLibMM: Resets apps not using ZSL back to stock
MediumNight and MediumNightZSL (Only one can be used at a time so if want to change between them just execute ResetAll first):
Enables this mod with a great improvement and longer shutter speed, not too long but long enough for dusk photos
ExtremeNight and ExtremeNightZSL (Only one can be used at a time so if want to change between them just execute ResetAll first):
Enables this mod with a massive improvement and very long shutter speed, Very long so you will need a tripod perfect for astrophotos, shoot ISO 400+ for good star pics.
Then we have the mother of all mods, UltraNight(ONLY-ZSL-APPS) (Only one can be used at a time so if want to change between them just execute ResetAll first): This can only be used with ZSL apps, this gives you a realtime view of what you will capture.
I repeat again, only use one mod at a time, otherwise I some unexpected behavior will occur. This mod also should not cause any bootloops or problems so no worries about that, if something does go wrong, just reflash ROM
Enjoy brothers and sisters! :fingers-crossed:
Many thanks to @defcomg
P.S: FreeDcam, Camera FV-5 and Open Camera all are non-ZSL. Snapdragon Camera, sock LG camera (ported and original are ZSL)
FreeDcam is my preferential app!
Please upload your shots to show others and I'll also post some samples.

Try the ultra zsl and and hold it still and just leave the phone for a few (5 - 10 secs) and see if the display becomes laggy?
It seems that it does not work on stock based roms. I have google edition 1.5 and tried ExtremeNight, ExtremeNightZSL and UltraNight. I tried them on Xcam, stock cam and Freedcam (option zsl disabled) and with ev +2 (that is the higher can set). None of these libs and apps seems to have any noticable difference in preview (it wasn't laggier than stock) and cannot get longer exposure than 1/9. I may try coping the files by myself in the folder just in case I did anything wrong while trying to run the script.

Good find thanks. I will see if I can find some answers of making this work on stock, seems LG framework might bypass the libs, maybe. I'll upload some test files tomorrow modded from Cloudy and that will be V2, then you can test that. Anyway thanks for the effort, I'll try to get it working!
Some quick thinking. Both GE1.5 and Cloudy 3.3 use the camera binaries of xdabbeb and I have installed the XCam Settings. Is there any chance to produce any conflict with your mod ?

I think it's actually the LG framework that stands in the way, AOSP and CM use a different wrapper to interface with the camera, which is why people claim Stock ROM quality is better than CM/AOSP, which I would disagree, when shooting in RAW, you get equal quality. I posted in xdabbeb's thread to ask which libs it gets the camera settings from, so I'll just have to wait for him to respond, Maybe if someone could also just pull a log of opening the camera and taking a pic on a stock based ROM I could maybe have a look at that.
Well the main difference is the jpeg engine. So the unedited RAW files cannot have any difference for same ISO (I think the stock libs can push the ISO a little bit further in low light). However the stock libs I think they use some kind of multiframe NR so the final jpeg have big difference in terms of noise

I think the noise reduction has a lot to do with which ever apk you use, I can get quite good noise reduction from ported LG apk.
Too pull a log you must download any log cat app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nolanlawson.logcat&hl=en) then start the catlog app and click home button, open camera, take a pic, then go back to catlog, and click pause/stop. Then click the menu button to bring up options and just save. Then you can upload it here Thanks

Yes, it should work
I just flashed the stock camera libraries of lp (not the advanced of xdabbeb). Again there is no difference when I use your libs. However, when I increase the minimum shutter speed on xcam settings it lowers the maximum iso that it can reach (e.g. If i increase speed to 1/15 I cannot get iso higher than 1000). This wasn't an issue on the advanced libraries. Furthermore, if I use non zsl apps I can reach a 1/6 shutter speed at iso 3100 which is longer exposure than the one it could be reached with advanced, i.e. 1/9 shutter and iso 2900.
I don't know if those finding are any helpful but I felt that it might be worth to share.
Can you make this for LG G Pro 2 running Cm13? It have same camera/SoC
