Now It's a pain in the *** to test a rom and we have to restore rom or some sort to get back to our daily rom.
And Sony Xperia S had succeeded,I'll take it as a reference and see if we can work on this.
This is not a placeholder.
Link to the Xperia S thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880305
I'll be "investigating" this. And I also need all the devs help. (I'm not really an highly skilled developer,so I would really need some help here)
Devs only please. No request for tester or users that asks for ETA. Do not post any reply unrelated to development on this thread.
Keep it only for devs, and make it clean.
Devs,good luck to you guys.
Dual recovery is needed,I'll start by porting TWRP. (I'll focus on this first)
Wow. This is kick ass stuff.
Similar to what was done in G3MOD, except that here its actually dual boot, with the ROMs installed on internal storage, while there it was implemented in a slightly simpler way by packing multiple ramdisks and extracting system.img files when required to switch between ROMs.
Considering our already existing problem of not having of an expandable storage, G3MOD's implementation seems far more appealing.
I will take a look at this soon enough.
Well I didn't store a lot of things on my device, only roms and some other stuff,my internal storage is actually more than enough.
But that method seems to be more friendly on the internal storage,as we have a lot of unused phone memory. (the place where roms are installed to)
I'll look into that too.
Edit : It seems like the G3MOD project is already abandoned. But we can look at their sources at github.
We could make it load from sdcard by pressing a combination of buttons on Sony logo! We need kernel first of all! But also a way to do it.

We're trying to dual boot different rom with different kernel
I don't believe that we can make it load a different kernel! If we could then we could also let permanently locked bootloaders to do so too! We will have to load it from a single kernel!

In the first thread,Xperia S is able to load two kernel.
why is there always have to be made for locked bootloader?
custom kernel NEEDS an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER.
how can you use a single kernel?via the patch?
I'll look into it first.

The method xperia s use is: pack one kernel with 3 kernels inside it (one kernel for the dual boot menu, and 2 normal kernels)
So it is possible to do

Hi,
I create a stock kernel with OC n stuffs but what I miss is integrated CWM. Since that is not present we were installing CWM manually. which if I create a ROM and flash the system parition is wiped and won't be able to use CWM further..
Does any one knows how to integrate CWM into Ram Disk
-- thank you
I know this doesn't answer your question ditectly but untill you figure it out, you can always integrate CWM in your rom. So that after rom flash in recovery, you get CWM right away.

I'm not from this area and I don't even own the device. But I think it's worth letting you guys know that you can have two recoveries in one ramdisk using chroot, because you never know when one of the recoveries may start acting up.
It's easy to implement and I recommend it. It's used in the X8 kernels, where both TWRP and CWM-touch recovery (basically on-screen nav buttons) are integrated into one ramdisk.
Just thought of letting you guys know. And awesome work champ.

Dude no Xperia device is officially supported. At least the official website's list doesn't have any Xperia device.
On Xperia S we have to either flash a custom kernel or there are a few runme.bat scripts for installing CWM.

nope. its because both cwm 6 and twrp 3.x uses buffer alignment by default which should be supported by kernel 3.x which is ics default kernel on all other oem stock rom, thats why we dont hear the half screen problem on other phone. they got kernel 3.x which works perfectly fine with cmw and twp buffer alignment.
we on the other hand stuck with kernel 2.6.32 which originally for froyo, doesnt have proper buffer alignment by default, thus causing the problem.
fxp got a workaround by disabling buffer alignment when loading cwm and twrp thus eliminating the buffer bug which causing the half aroma screen.
and i did the same thing to my kernel, add fxp patch and disabling buffer alignment in cwm and twrp.
how to downgrade to cwm 5
I wanted to downgrade from CMW 6.x (that comes with KernelPanic) to CWM 5.x. Tried various methods like x-part, copying files to /system/bin and /system/xbin and one-click-installs using adb, but it will not replace the CWM 6.x. Is that because it's somehow build in with the kernel (in KernelPanic)? Or am I missing something?
It's only bug on CWM 6 , but it also half screen on TWRP
anyone remember how the fix worked?

Useless bump you made here.
And topics do not have to be closed, these can be used for discussing the same topic later, then there would be no need to create a new one.
Yesterday i saw that HTC pico now having dual roms installed one on primary memory and other one on sd-ext ,, the config of that device is lower than our MDPI so soon we could also have something like this.
yeah, pico got it too
there are many market apps helping in multiboot, but none of them support for our devices
maybe it just needs a think around,
my idea to implement this goes like this
the kernel of the primary rom should go on patch,
and just for a thought, the way linux mounts filesystems, should the sd card be partitioned for second rom
