Help with nexus 4 root. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm going to root a Google nexus 4, from what I've found scouring the net, I've come across about 5 different ways of doing it. A couple of them seeming to be much more complicated than one would think it should be. Anybody have any tips or advice for doing this?

The nexus family is basically the most friendlies device ever when it came for unlocking, rooting flashing etc. Head over to the dedicated nexus 4 subforum and I bet u could find instruction for rooting it in no time there.

Sweet. I'll have to find it lol. I'm pretty new to xda so.. Lol thanks alot though buddy!

Galaxy sense

I was wondering if anyone is going to be porting this because the developer over at the i9000 forum has confirmed that he will be releasing a almost fully stable rom in a few days. Thank you in advance and please reply asap.

If a dev wants it and decides to port it and share it then you will have it. If no dev wants it on their phone then unless you learn some code you probably won't get it. And fyi these kind of threads are usually flame bait.

not always, sometimes it turns into one of the threads where people start offering money for devs to start porting it. It's happened to other threads too.
Hopefully someone out there is planning on doing it because if we had sense on a galaxy phone which in reality is considered nearly impossible it would make the vibrant ten times better. Almost every galaxy is going to get a port, there are already devs over at the captivate and galaxy s2 forums who are ready for this. So I was thinking why not ours too?

Would be fun to try...anyway, they are almost done on this website here
http://www.oozeroo.com/galaxysense/index.html
That website is just information about galaxy sense and it is still from the same dev.

ROM flashing question

Like they said man, their are tons of thread asking the same thing...
But to answer your question, every international Rom will work on our model, however you will loose wifi calling (it's tmobile specific and unless you flash a stock Rom you won't have in any other Rom).

Don't do it. There is another thread in this forum where some one lost their, hspa data.
It's generally better to wait until ruins stabilize brie you start flashing unless you are masochistic.

Yah you need to do some reading.
That said, Android Revolution and TrickDroid work great for TMo and have all the TMo stuff including wifi calling included. There probably are others, but these two are by far the most popular. I personally run TrickDroid.

Bricked my 5.0 thinking about just getting a new one. .

I feel like it's going to be waaaaaay to hard to fix it. I been looking for a while and it seems like it's just a bunch of run around to be honest.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
We need more details than that, lol.
Like Bricked it I just feel it's going to be to be to complex to fix it.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Well it's at least worth a try right? Try looking in one of the recovery threads for the 5.0. If it works then you'll be saving money

[BOUNTY] Easier Way to Unlock Bootloader of P769

I don't know if this is the right place to post this. I think we should pool our efforts and provide a collective bounty to a dev that can successfully unlock the bootloader without having to flash 20b euro kdz.
I will start by officially offering $25. Come on, guys... we can do this.
UPDATE: Here is the total so far....
Me: $25
fastwanabe: $25
jpeterson066 $20
Total: $70

Nice to see somebody stepping up to put their money towards this. Since there's no development here, I think this will probably be moved to the general section.
Anyways, if somebody could figure out a way to automatically flash the European ICS firmware followed by the JB firmware, unlocking the boot loader would be as easy as enabling USB debugging then waiting 30 minutes, then inputting the OEM unlock code.
Even better, if a talented developer could reverse engineer the lg KDZ flashing tool like other developers did with ODIN, unlocking the boot loader and unbricking a soft brick would be so much easier.

I can reverse engineer the kdz tool ... not sure what changes I can accomplish (depending how much is encrypted, binary etc) but I will look into it.

The problem with offering money for this is, in a month or two when there's an easier method, you would've already successfully unlocked its boot loader because you did sufficient research and you didn't give up after you failed a few times. Granted some of the tutorials could be rewritten or simplified, I know the one I used was written in horrible English by an Indian fella and it took me a while.

Wonder if what I posted in another thread could be done. Porting djrbliss's Loki to our phone. I looked over it earlier on his git and its only for aboot images (no u) but it could still apply. I linked in the other thread to a very informative link about porting Loki (titled tried to port Loki and failed). Maybe somebody can ask him if he believes it would also work with u images and if its OK for us to try and port it....

@omgbossis21, if my next attempt at unlocking fails, maybe we can donate our phones to the guy from "Will It Blend?"....lol.

I didn't. It took me quite a bit of research and also quite a good number of tries using the resources that are at your disposal as we speak.

You know what's going to be annoying?

People taking the 4.3 update and then complaining about not being able to flash ROMs or having SS working.

This thread was a waste! Could have put this in the many other 4.3 threads out. This is just Worse as the the people your talking about!

Sort of agree, yet the title of this OP could have been a bit more informative to the point of something like:
Take 4.3, lose rooting and safestrap capabilities at this time.
Just my .02 c
There is at least one thread already for discussion..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502597
