hey guys.
I don`t know if this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering what are the main difference between htc one international version and developers edition apart from the the 64gb storage difference and the bootloader, I am not going to use this phone in usa but am ordering it from htc usa store or amazon.com.
I would really appreciate it if anyone can provide me with some info.
thanks
I think your describing the dev edition with the 64gb and unlocked bootloader.
It's unbranded and has a cid with all 1's it receives updates straight from HTC sooner than branded devices

The dev edition isn't SuperCID
It's BS_US001
.. and definitely has *not* received updates faster than intl variants. it just got it's first official update from 1.29..3 to 1.29...16 around the middle of May, well after others reported getting .16 and even .17 . That is the only update that has ever been released for that phone (so far). meanwhile certain parts of the world are already getting 2.17.xxx

I bought my HTC Hero off ebay, I got it right after they were released in the UK. Will the update that Orange released work for my phone or is that specifically for phones on the orange network?

If yours is white or brown/black and unlocked, you can get the update from the HTC site.
The Orange update is only for BRANDED Orange phones.
Its for Orange branded handsets.
If your's in a generic HTC Hero, then the generic HTC firmware update should work.
Enter your serial number in the appropriate place on the updates page to find out if its compatible.
If its a T-Mobile Hero, you will have to wait...
Most likely - since you got on on e-Bay - it will be a generic. I'd suggest that you flash it with one of the MoDaCo ROMs that also roots the phone (a lot of the utility apps require root access). Besides, the MoDaCo releases help free up on-board memory for running apps.
Yes - I have a white generic Hero bought through e-Bay.
Hi, I'm far more interested in the variant for the Japanese market than the American one, mainly because of storage expandability and water proof ability. However, has the J Butterfly been officially launched in Japan yet? If so, are there any legit online legible stores where I can get one?

I too am interested in this. I would much rather have a microSD slot than wireless charging. And that red device is über attractive. I've been doing some research and it appears that this device should be carrier unlocked like the DNA is http://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-Droid-DNA-comes-unlocked-for-use-with-any-SIM-card_id36652 However au KDDI's LTE bands are at 800MHz not Verizon's 700Mhz http://www.japanmobiletech.com/2012/09/more-details-on-kddi-4g-lte-iphone-5.html?m=1
HTC J Butterfly pamflet!
http://htcsoku.info/au-deluxe_j-pamphlet/
it has been released already here in Japan since last December 9.
And I'm loving it!... :good:
It was released in Kanto areas of Japan on Dec. 9th.
Other areas of Japan are the 14th, and 21st.
However I was told by a girl in the AU shop here in Osaka that the J Butterfly would be available the 12th. So I'm heading down today to take a look.
HTC Buttefly not in preorder for EU from Expansys
After a short period when HTC Butterfly was on preorder at Expansys, yesterday i receive an e-mail from Expansys:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for your recent interest and preorder of the HTC Butterfly.
Unfortunately, we have now been informed by HTC that this device will
not be available in European markets, and as such we have had to
remove it from our website and cancel your preorder.
We are sorry for any disappointment that this may cause.
An alternative model to the Butterfly that may be of interest is the
HTC One SV which will be available in early January and is available
to preorder now: http://www.expansys.com/htc-one-sv-blue-240562/

Hello!
I'm eagerly awaiting for this phone to come to Verizon.. I know it has yet to be 100% confirmed with a release date, but I'm just waiting for the day.
I understand it also doesn't guarantee that Verizon will get the D.E. version, and may only carry the HTC One w/sense UI.
My question is - if Verizon has the Sense UI version, and the bootloader is unlocked, would it be possible to flawlessly port the D.E. ROM from another carrier over to the Verizon version?
This could sway my decision to go with the Cheaper Moto X instead until a better HTC option is on Verizon.

It being Verizon makes it incompatible with gsm versions in their stock form.

Title says it all.
I'm currently on an HTC One but have the option to change phones via company contract.
Now, I am happy with the One but getting an itch to switch.
How does the G2 compare against the One and S4 in terms of hardware?
Also, how much custom development will be going into the G2?

This is something I have been thinking about as well. However because the S4 and HTC One have Google Editions i am sure those are going to get better Dev support. The G2 is better hardware wise. Only time will tell when it comes to dev support. You may want to wait and see what the Nexus 5 looks like in the next month or two and then pick.

Out of all those phone the HTC One will have the better development. It has an unlockable bootloader and is the exact same as the international version, google version, and all other GSM versions.
The rest of the choice is completely user pref. 5.0 AMOLED vs. 4.7 SUPER LCD vs. 5.2 IPS LCD, plastic vs. metal, TW vs. LG vs. Sense, Ultra Pixel vs. 13 MP, HUGE BATTERY vs. 2300 mah vs. 2600 removable, future updates for the next few android version (HTC's and Samsung's track record) vs. Questionable updates if any, perfect Google Edition experience vs. possibly never having it, 800 snapdragon vs. 600, and the list goes on.
With the locked bootloader it will slow down development for a while and might even turn people away from this phone. Only time will tell... Just do not buy a phone assuming that the bootloader will be hacked because it may not. Buy it because you like it as is

unlockable bootloader? Only very limited HTC Ones were unlocked on Verizon via htcdev.com. This was quickly shut down a few hours after release. The bootloader is locked, and currently there is no way to unlock. Development is slow on the VZW side.
The sgs4 has much more dev due to Loki and a lot more phones being unlocked at this time.

I did not know you were talking about the verizon model. Only the Verizon model blocks the unlock, all the rest (Sprint, Tmobile, AT&T) accept it (last time I checked)
With verizon aside compare the development for the AT&T S4 and HTC One and you will see what I mean.
All,
i would like to buy new HOX + since my HTC incredible s is stolen..i love HTC & Sense, and HOX + comes in my budget..but, in ebay i can get only ATT or Telus version HOX..but i live in india, worried whether the reception is very low since my friend is also using S3 ATT version n signal strength is weak..
Just want to know whether Flashing a radio of internation version to ATT version would brick the device or works well?
Any idea from experts? based on this factor only i will place my order in ebay.
Thanks all guys Really a great community this is.
PS: i know there is no KK official update for this device. Just gone through the forum and can see many active development going on..Only intention of buying this device is cos of this great dev community

From what I've heard, no. The international and ATT is different and plus the phone would probably not allow you to flash the radio of another device, unless you are s-off. I don't think it was ever done but it's probably not worth the brick. BTW there is not much development going on for the HOX+ atm. Hopefully things will kick up soon. The Samsung s3 is different than the HOX+ , maybe it will be better maybe worst. I get better signal than my dad's Note 3.
